As previously reported, Rolling Stone magazine sat down with all the four members of METALLICA — guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo — at the bands headquarters in San Rafael, California.
When asked about how far along is the band with the writing of the NEW album, James Hetfield said: "I only have 846 riffs. In iTunes, you can see how many things you've got. And that does not include the soundchecks, the stuff we goof around with here. You plug in an amp. Suddenly it makes you feel good — you come up with a riff. 'Dude, did you get that?' You can't get away from being recorded here."
During an Outside Lands festival media call, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich said that they're looking to get into the studio in September to work on their NEW album, and reflects on the band's busy 2012. Here is the interview, courtesy of Artisan News:
In a historical twist of events, METALLICA will be performing eight concerts in Mexico City! Heavy Metal's biggest band, will be performing at the Sports Palace in Mexico City on July 28 & 30 and August 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, & 9. Additionally, the band will be unveiling their NEW stage: a 140x50-foot stage that features colossal components and striking visual elements spanning Metallica's 30-year career.
Then they will be performing a hometown show in San Francisco, California as part of the Outside Lands festival at the Golden Gate Park!

Virus Forces Iran's Nuclear Program Computers To Blast AC/DC's "Thunderstruck"
Recently, cyber attackers launched a virus that hacked computer systems in Iran and forced them to blast AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”.
News of the attack came from Mikko Hypponen, a researcher at Finnish computer security firm F-Secure. Here is what Hypponen wrote on his blog:
"I am writing you to inform you that our nuclear program has once again been compromised and attacked by a new worm with exploits which have shut down our automation network at Natanz and another facility Fordo near Qom.
"According to the email our cyber experts sent to our teams, they believe a hacker tool Metasploit was used. The hackers had access to our VPN. The automation network and Siemens hardware were attacked and shut down. I only know very little about these cyber issues as I am scientist not a computer expert.
"There was also some music playing randomly on several of the workstations during the middle of the night with the volume maxed out. I believe it was playing 'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC.
"I'm not sure what to think about this. We can't confirm any of the details. However, we can confirm that the researcher was sending and receiving emails from within the AEOI."

BAD RELIGION Enter Studio To Record 16th Studio Album!
Here is some very exciting news! Legendary Punk Rockers BAD RELIGION have announced that they have entered the studio to begin work on their brand NEW album. The as-yet-untitled CD (the bands 16th studio album) is being recorded at Joe Barresi's (THE MELVINS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, PARKWAY DRIVE) JHOC studio and co-produced by band members Brett Gurewitz, Greg Graffin and Barresi.
In case you don't know who BAD RELIGION is, the band was formed in 1979 in the suburbs of Los Angeles as disaffected teenagers and have generated numerous memorable hits and are synonymous with intelligent and provocative hook-filled Punk Rock.
