BROKEN HOPE Update Fans On Status Of The Band & NEW Album!

Chicago Death Metallers BROKEN HOPE have now issued a band and album update! Read on for the latest news, straight from the band themselves:

"We want to give you all a quick BROKEN HOPE update before the New Year, and we have some exciting news! First, congratulations to BROKEN HOPE's own Shaun Glass on the birth of his first child: Maddux Burton Glass, born Dec 17, 2012. Maddux enters the world just before Christmas and just as BROKEN HOPE is writing the NEW album!

"Speaking of the NEW album, we can officially say that we've written 11 songs so far-- and are still trucking along with more material. The NEW material is so ferocious, we jokingly sum up the vibe of the NEW music as 'Reign In Bowels' because it's like someone took SLAYER's 'Reign In Blood' and mated that intensity and horror with the extremity and sickness of BROKEN HOPE's 'Bowels of Repugnance' album... It's insanely heavy and unrelenting! That said, here's a couple song titles we can release to you all-- chew on these: 'The Flesh Mechanic' and 'Give Me the Bottom Half.' We can't wait for you to hear 'em all! Happy Holidays everyone!" -- BROKEN HOPE

BROKEN HOPE was formed in 1988 by Jeremy Wagner, while he was in high school. Shortly after formation, they recorded two demo tapes and signed with indie label, Grind-Core Records. Then in 1991, they released their debut album, 'Swamped In Gore', launching the band out of the underground and into the mainstream. From there, the band signed to Metal Blade Records and released three more albums, all stellar examples of BROKEN HOPE's fury, which etched their place in Death Metal history.

After BROKEN HOPE's last album (1999's Grotesque Blessings) and world tours, Wagner cleaned house and put BROKEN HOPE into "Metal hibernation" in 2000. On January 20, 2010, original BROKEN HOPE vocalist Joe Ptacek tragically committed suicide. He was only 37 years old. Before his death, Ptacek met with Wagner and Shaun Glass and discussed the resurrection of BROKEN HOPE. With Ptacek's death, Wagner and Glass took time off to reconsider their next moves.

In 2012, BH signed with Hard Impact Management and vowed to make BH a full-time monster-- forever. Wagner and Glass recruited longtime friend and GORGASM vocalist, Damian Leski, as their new vocalist, and shortly after marked their return on the highly successful Carnival of Death tour. BH's high-intensity COD concerts received top-praise, and confirmed BH was back, and more rabid than ever. BH is currently booked for the 2013 editions of Extremefest (Germany) and Maryland Death Fest.

BROKEN HOPE's first decade was filled with non-stop writing, touring, and constant visibility. The next chapter in their career will be much the same.

BROKEN HOPE Inks Record Deal With Century Media Records!

Century Media Records is pleased to announce the signing of reformed Chicago Death Metallers BROKEN HOPE.

Jeremy Wagner, BH's founder and chief lyricist/songwriter, comments: "For years, I wanted to write a new BROKEN HOPE album and see BH firmly placed with a NEW home. My dream came true as BROKEN HOPE just signed a worldwide deal with Century Media. I've harbored great appreciation for CM and its stellar roster of artists since '88, and I'm extremely happy and grateful to see BROKEN HOPE become part of the CM family. My sincere thanks to Robert Kampf and Maurizio Iacono for embracing our musical art. Watch for a NEW, sick and über-ferocious BROKEN HOPE album to hit the globe in 2013!"

Bassist Shaun Glass adds: "After taking part of an amazing North American tour that saw the rebirth of BROKEN HOPE, we are excited to be part of the mighty Century Media family. We promise to unleash one brutal and classic BH album next year!"

OBITUARY Recording NEW Music - Video Interview Available!

OBITUARY are back from the dead! Earlier this week, the band announced the "Carnival Of Death" tour with Broken Hope, Decrepit Birth, Jungle Rot and Encrust (details below)! Now, according to an interview that MetalBlast.net conducted with Trevor Peres (OBITUARY guitarist) at the 2012 edition of the "Dokk'em Open Air" festival at Spriens Raard in Dokkum, Netherlands, the Floridean Death Metallers are recording a NEW 3 song EP! Here are a few excerpts of the interview:

Plans for NEW music:

Trevor Peres:

"We're actually… Before this tour, we started recording an EP. We were hoping to be finished recording before this tour, but a bunch of different personal things happened and we just didn't have time to finish it. But I've got all the guitar scratch tracks done and Donald [Tardy, drums] started doing scratch drum tracks. But when we get home from this, in one or two weeks we finish recording. It's like three NEW songs; it's an EP we're gonna do. We're actually gonna do a seven-inch picture disc — no CDs at all; just picture disc only. But then you [will be able to] download it from iTunes or Google Music and stuff. But then we've got another 10 songs we're gonna record after that. So, hopefully, by the end of the year — January, maybe — [there will be] a brand NEW full-length album."

On what the NEW Obituary music sounds like:

Trevor Peres:

"It's pure OBITUARY. In fact, we've got some of the catchiest hooks on this album. These songs are so amazing. In fact, one of the first songs [we wrote] for it I'm always humming in my head. It pisses me off because it's stuck there all the time. So it's a good thing; it's, like, really catchy, groovy OBITUARY."

As previously reported, OBITUARY has announced their long-anticipated North American headlining tour. Brought to you by Rock The Nation and sponsored by Fender, the near month-long Carnival Of Death Tour 2012 will run through September and include additional audio demolition from Broken Hope, Decrepit Birth, Jungle Rot and Encrust! Tour dates and further info to be announced in the coming days…. You have been warned.
