After eight years of patiently waiting for some new Anthrax music, Anthrax's global fan-base are finally getting to quench their thirst with some new music by New York's Thrash Metal legends. Their new album "Worship Music" (drops on September 13: the day before the band plays The Big 4 show at Yankee Stadium) is the most anticipated record of 2011. "Worship Music" also marks the return of Joey Belladonna on vocals, who is singing with Anthrax for the first time since 1990's "Persistence of Time". What a way for the band to celebrate its 30th anniversary!
Today the band has announced that the first single out of "Worship Music" titled "Fight 'em 'Til You Can't" has just gone on sale at iTunes. They have also revealed that the cover art of "Worship Music" was created by renowned comic book artist Alex Ross, who has worked with Marvel Comics and DC Comics and is known for his "Marvels," "Kingdom Come," and "Astro City" illustrations. Ross also did the original artwork for Anthrax's "We've Come For You All" and "Music of Mass Destruction" albums. Here is the cover art for "Worship Music".
The "classic Anthrax-sounding" "Fight 'em 'Til You Can't" is a song about killing zombies, and is the one new track that Anthrax - Belladonna, guitarists Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano, drummer Charlie Benante and bassist Frank Bello - has played live since they Belladonna rejoined the line-up a year ago. Anthrax offered the track as a free download last month, and fan comments in chat rooms have been overwhelmingly ecstatic.
"This album is fucking amazing! Metal album of the year so far! Congratulations. Just killer." - Eddie Trunk (VH1 Classic's That Metal Show)
Anthrax will play the Heavy T.O. Festival in Toronto on July 23, and the Heavy MTL festival in Montreal on July 24.
