In an April 2012 interview with Metal Blast, Nergal offered the following information about BEHEMOTH's mindset going into the next album. "We want to take our time and not rush ourselves in any way," he said. "It looks like it might be the most important album in our career. I want to make the most honest record and I won't be bending to anyone's rules or expectations, including [BEHEMOTH's record labels] Metal Blade or Nuclear Blast. Every next BEHEMOTH album is a surprise and is never the same. . . We don't want to stress ourselves because the music business and the direction it takes is not as I would like it to be. That means we will be going against the current again and just do as we will and please. Whatever we do is going to be BEHEMOTH, 100%. It is the state of our will and nobody can deny it. I can tell you that we aren't going to come out with a reggae or country album; it's going to be BEHEMOTH, it's going to be extreme. But don't be surprised if people listened to it and said, 'Fuck, they did it. It's so amazing.' [Laughs] That's what I like to say when I listen to my own music. I love to surprise myself. I hate things that are predictable. I want to surprise myself and surprise other people, as well. . . Don't get me wrong, I am a huge AC/DC fan and I expect AC/DC to be AC/DC, but don't expect BEHEMOTH to put out another 'The Apostasy', 'Demigod' or 'Evangelion' album, because that will not happen."

ENSLAVED's NEW Album 'RIITIIR' Available Now!

Now available in North America is 'RIITIIR', the twelfth studio album by Norway’s progressive extreme Metallers ENSLAVED.

“I’ve poured my work, dedication and inspiration into this,” states rhythm guitarist/songwriter/lyricist Ivar Bjørnson. “At one point, guitars were being written and recorded in my home studio while I was waiting for the phone call from the hospital that would admit my wife and I to the Labor Ward to receive our firstborn. I have a feeling that 'RIITIIR' has more of everything: the beautiful is more beautiful while the harsher is harsher. That it ended up being the longest album we’ve made so far was something we discovered by accident when we made the first rough mixes after the recordings. We forgot to think about length during the making and rehearsing of the album before recording it! We sat down and thought about it: did it mean we hadn’t been critical enough with regards to the time? Upon listening through the recordings with the proverbial scissors in mind, we couldn’t find anything we absolutely didn’t want to keep. I’ll take that as a good sign. So good news if you don’t absolutely love what we’re doing: at least the songs are very long!”

'RIITIIR’s' total running time is 67 minutes and was recorded in Bergen, Norway at Duper Studios, Earshot Studios, Solslottet Studios, and Peersonal Sound. It was mixed by Jens Bogren and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden. The team of producers includes Ivar Bjørnson, Grutle Kjellson, Herbrand Larsen, and Iver Sandøy. Artwork is once again by talented Norwegian artist Truls Espedal.

Following up a triumphant stretch of West Coast dates earlier this Summer with Torche, Black Cobra and Gaza, this Wednesday, North Carolina crossover revolutionaries CORROSION OF CONFORMITY will kick off a four-date run with New York Metallers PRONG. The short but epic run will commence in Huntington, West Virginia and steamroll through Winston-Salem, Wilmington, and Savannah. Founded by three teenagers in 1982, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY began as an underground band and went on to transform Heavy Music, challenging boundaries and serving as what Decibel Magazine called “a crucial stylistic lynchpin in the bridge between Metal and Punk” that “irrevocably reshaped crossover’s sonic possibilities.” Thirty years and many changes later, COC’s original trio is back with a self-titled release for London-based independent Candlelight Records. Released Stateside this past March Corrosion Of Conformity was recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles, produced by the band in cooperation with long-time collaborator John Custer and mixed by John Lousteau (Foo Fighters). The 11-track offering features the esteemed 'Animosity' lineup of vocalist/bassist Mike Dean, guitarist Woody Weatherman, and drummer/vocalist Reed Mullin and closes a six year recording gap for the band.

ARTILLERY Announce NEW Drummer!

Danish Metallers ARTILLERY have announced that they have recruited drummer Josua Madsen to replace founding member Carsten Nielsen, who quit the band this past April "for personal reasons." Madsen previously played drums in CONSUMED (the Houston, Texas-based progressive death act). This is what the band had to say about this:

"Josua has been living the last couple of years in the U.S. playing with different bands. Last Danish band was CLUB HELL. We are looking forward to go on the road with Josua, his first gig will be at Headbangers Open Air in Hamburg, Germany: Thanx to former drummer Carsten for the 30 years of thrashing!"

This past May, ARTILLERY performed in New York and at the Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore. They also performed in Argentina, Chile and Brazil. At the end of the year, ARTILLERY will be part of the "Barge To Hell" cruise ship that will go from Miami, Florida to the Bahamas.

ARTILLERY's sixth album, 'My Blood', was released in Europe on March 21, 2011. 14 songs were laid down during the sessions at Medley Studios in Copenhagen — 10 brand NEW tracks, a remake of "Ain't Giving In" (from 1992's "Mind Factory" demo) and three bonus tracks which are all NEW versions of timeless classics from the 1985 album 'Fear Of Tomorrow' ("The Eternal War", "The Almighty" and "Show Your Hate"). The cover artwork was created by well-known Polish graphic designer Graal, who has previously worked with VITAL REMANS, SINISTER, SOLITUDE AETURNUS and BULLDOZER. Graal was also responsible for the covers of ARTILLERY's 'Through The Years' box and 'When Death Comes'.

SIX FEET UNDER's Chris Barnes Issues Roadside Tour Update; Band Joins "Barge To Hell" Lineup!

Death Metal tyrants SIX FEET UNDER are currently midway through their long-anticipated 18 "Nights Of Blood Tour". The trek kicked off in Atlanta, Georgia earlier this month and has systematically leveled nine cities. This is the band’s first live outing featuring newly recruited rhythm guitarist Ola Englund who takes the place of Rob Arnold as well as bassist Jeff Hughell [ex-Brain Drill, ex-Vile]. Support is being provided by Dying Fetus and Revocation.
