ENSLAVED Get Hit By Bad Weather & Won't Be Performing Tonight In Toronto, CA!

Enslaved express their sincere apologies to everyone in Toronto, Canada who was looking forward to their show today (February 19). Here is what the band posted on their Facebook page regarding tonight's show:

"We simply can't believe it; we're trapped in a blizzard at the US/CAN border near Winnipeg. We've been here for a full day now-meaning there is no chance of making tomorrow's show (Feb. 19th) at The Opera House in Toronto; even if the weather should turn around dramatically during the next few hours. We're completely devastated as we sit on the bus waiting it out. We can't believe we'll miss what was for sure going to be one of the very highlights of this tour."

It was recently announced that the band have been nominated for the 2012 Spellemann Award in the category “Best Metal Album” with their most recent release, 'RIITIIR'. This prestigious music award is the Norwegian equivalent to the American Grammy. Ceremonies will take place at the Stavanger Concert Hall in Oslo on Saturday, March 23rd and will be broadcast live on NRK 1. The band offered the following statement:

“By the hammer, saw, and grinder of Thor! What an incredibly pleasant surprise to be getting on the road, being nominated for Spellemannsprisen (Norwegian Grammy)! Having that many people interested & versed in music liking our album is simply overwhelming. We’ll miss the party, but feel confident that others will take care of the scandalous behavior. Thank you jury, this means a lot to us no matter the outcome of the ‘final’!”

This is the seventh time ENSLAVED have received a Spellemann Award nomination. They have won four consecutive times in a row for their previous four studio albums:

Norway Endorses Our Music Unlike Other Countries, ENSLAVED Are Nominated For a Spellemann Award (their version of The Grammy's)!

What a total mind fu*k! While here in the U.S. The Grammy's don't give a crap about our music, in Norway The Spellemann Awards (their version of The Grammy's) celebrate our music!

It has been announced that NORWEGIAN progressive extreme Metallers ENSLAVED have just received word of their nomination for the 2012 Spellemann Award in the category “Best Metal Album” with their most recent release, 'RIITIIR'. This prestigious music award is the Norwegian equivalent to the American Grammy. Ceremonies will take place at the Stavanger Concert Hall in Oslo on Saturday, March 23rd and will be broadcast live on NRK 1.

ENSLAVED Announce North American Tour - Full Agenda Available!

Norwegian progressive extreme Metal band ENSLAVED will return to the U.S. and Canada in early 2013 for a headlining, 20-show “Winter Rite” tour joined by U.S. doom metallers Pallbearer and occult rockers Ancient VVisdom as openers. Kick-off is in Philadelphia on January 30th with the tour closing in New York City on February 22nd.

ENSLAVED's NEW Album 'RIITIIR' Available Now!

Now available in North America is 'RIITIIR', the twelfth studio album by Norway’s progressive extreme Metallers ENSLAVED.

“I’ve poured my work, dedication and inspiration into this,” states rhythm guitarist/songwriter/lyricist Ivar Bjørnson. “At one point, guitars were being written and recorded in my home studio while I was waiting for the phone call from the hospital that would admit my wife and I to the Labor Ward to receive our firstborn. I have a feeling that 'RIITIIR' has more of everything: the beautiful is more beautiful while the harsher is harsher. That it ended up being the longest album we’ve made so far was something we discovered by accident when we made the first rough mixes after the recordings. We forgot to think about length during the making and rehearsing of the album before recording it! We sat down and thought about it: did it mean we hadn’t been critical enough with regards to the time? Upon listening through the recordings with the proverbial scissors in mind, we couldn’t find anything we absolutely didn’t want to keep. I’ll take that as a good sign. So good news if you don’t absolutely love what we’re doing: at least the songs are very long!”

'RIITIIR’s' total running time is 67 minutes and was recorded in Bergen, Norway at Duper Studios, Earshot Studios, Solslottet Studios, and Peersonal Sound. Tony Campos Releases Statement Regarding His Non-appearance At The Upcoming STATIC X & PRONG Tour!

"El Asesino", also known as Tony Campos, is currently touring with SOULFLY in support of their crushing NEW album 'Enslaved' (out now via Roadrunner Records), for which he wrote and recorded all the bass parts. Tony also wrote and recorded all the bass parts on Prong's NEW epic album 'Carved Into Stone', which is available now via Long Branch Records.

Recently, STATIC X and PRONG announced the "Noise Revolution Tour". The big question all of the fans have is whither or not Campos will be part of this tour. Here is what Campos posted on his Facebook page regarding this matter:

"I keep getting asked about this Static-X / Prong tour coming up, so I want to clear up a few things. I have no interest in working with Wayne Static, now, or anytime in the foreseeable future, so I will not be part of this version of Static-X. As for Prong, I will not be performing with them due to my current commitments to Soulfly. However, I do look forward to working with Prong again in the near future. If you haven't checked out Carved Into Stone yet, what the hell are you waiting for? \m/"

The CAVALERA's, The Real METAL Familia! Interview Available With MAX & His Sons At The Maximum Cavalera Tour!

Ever since he arrived to the Heavy Music scene in 1984, Max Cavalera has been constantly reinventing mis musical craft. While it was his work with the mighty SEPULTURA that helped him become an International Metal Superstar, Max has proven through his additional work with SOULFLY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY that his musical abilities are extremely multidimensional.

Thankfully, Max has also served as a mentor to his musician sons Richie, Igor and Zyon. While the Cavalera's are not the only Metal family in the Heavy Music world, they are the only family in the Metal world that have shared a nationwide tour in which Max's SOULFLY was supported by INCITE (Richie's band) and LODY KONG (Igor and Zyon's band).

The "Maximum Cavalera Tour" recently wrapped up, and all who attended really enjoyed seeing the Cavalera clan in full force! And we can't forget Max's soul mate Gloria. Gloria has not only been Max's backbone in all of his musical projects, but she has also taught her sons that a strong work ethic and humbleness, will help them achieve their goals while keeping the Cavalera legacy intact!

We recently had the chance to chat with Max and his sons about the "Maximum Cavalera Tour", and how life on the road as a family has made them a stronger family. We also talked with them about Max's involvement in their son's musical careers and how he is making sure that they are learning the business with little to no guidance. El ASESINO Tony Campos Talks About Joining Max Cavalera's SOULFLY; Recording With MINISTRY & PRONG

"El Asesino", also known as Tony Campos, is currently touring with SOULFLY in support of their crushing NEW album 'Enslaved' (out now via Roadrunner Records), for which he wrote and recorded all the bass parts. Tony also wrote and recorded all the bass parts on Prong's NEW epic album 'Carved Into Stone', which is available now via Long Branch Records.

Additionally, Tony recorded a handful of songs for 'Relapse', the NEW MINISTRY album (available now via 13th Planet Records). Tony confirmed to us that he is permanent member of SOULFLY and that he won't be part of the "retirement" shows that MINISTRY has planned later this year.

Right before SOULFLY devoured New York City's The Gramercy Theatre, we ran into Tony and caught up with him. During the chat we discussed his decision to join SOULFLY, how he manages to work on so many projects all the time, and how bass playing changed his life! MAX CAVALERA Discusses Musical Roots, MAXIMUM CAVALERA Tour, SEPULTURA Reunion & More!

Ever since he arrived to the Heavy Music scene in 1984, Max Cavalera has been constantly reinventing mis musical craft. Max left SEPULTURA in 1996, following the murder of Dana Wells (Max's stepson) and the firing of Gloria Cavalera Bujnowski (Max's wife & Dana's mother) as SEPULTURA's manager. While many artists would have had a hard time starting a NEW band and making it successful, Max has proven with SOULFLY that his musical vision is what sets him apart from other artists. Get this, SOULFLY turns 15 years old this year and have eight studio albums under their musical belt!

With the release of SOULFLY's eighth studio album 'Enslaved', Max has created one of the heaviest records of his career. Thanks to his decision to add NEW members Tony Campos (ex-Static X, Prong Ministry, Posessed, Asesino) and David Kinkade (Borknagar, Arsis), SOULFLY has created a contender for album of the year! If you haven't seen the current incarnation of SOULFLY live, you must!

Recently, we met up with Max at his hotel room in New York City before the "MAXIMUM CAVALERA Tour" show at The Gramercy Theatre. Once the camera was rolling, we chatted with him about growing up in Brazil and how this influenced his musical career. We also discussed the response of the public thus far to the current killer lineup and SOULFLY's NEW album 'Enslaved'. Additionally, we discussed what it means to Max having his kids bands INCITE and LODY KONG open up the show for him and how it feels to have his brother Iggor back in his life. And of course we asked him about a potential SEPULTURA reunion and about the change in guard at his long time record label: ROADRUNNER RECORDS! Check out what Max had to say about all of this!

MAX CAVALERA Talks About Soulfly's NEW Album 'Enslaved', His Familia & The Possibility Of A Sepultura Reunion!

Ever since he arrived to the Heavy Music scene in 1984, Max Cavalera has been constantly reinventing mis musical craft. While it was his work with the mighty Sepultura that helped him become an International Metal Superstar, Max has proven through his additional work with Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy that his musical abilities are extremely multidimensional.

Max left Sepultura in 1996, following the murder of Dana Wells (Max's stepson) and the firing of Gloria Bujnowski (Max's wife & Dana's mother) as Sepultura's manager. While many artists would have had a hard time starting a NEW band and making it successful, Max proved with Soulfly that his musical vision is what sets him apart from other artists.

Max Cavalera Is Suffering From Bell's Palsy - Official Statement Available!

Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera is recovering from a bout with Bell's Palsy, a temporary condition that is a form of facial paralysis resulting from a dysfunction of the cranial nerve VII (the facial nerve) that results in the inability to control facial muscles on the affected side.

Cavalera was diagnosed with a case of Bell's Palsy last week upon his return from Australia. He consulted a doctor and was put on a course of antibiotics and is improving greatly and is expected to make a full recovery imminently. He thanks fans for their concern and well wishes and wanted his supporters to know that he is okay, since the condition manifests in the face and he ultimately didn't want fans to worry.

Of his recent illness, Max said, “I woke up one morning after coming home from Australia and the whole room was spinning. I looked at Gloria and said, 'There's something wrong here.'  She said, 'Your face looks weird.'  I went to the mirror and couldn't move half of my face.  We thought I was having a stroke, so we rushed to the hospital.  I learned my condition was called Bell’s Palsy but  I'd never heard of that.  It's a f---ng weird disease.  My right eye won't blink, and half of my face feels like I've been punched by Mike Tyson!  It hurts like hell.  Anyway, I am leaving for Brazil. The show must go on and this Bell's Palsy ain't gonna stop a Metalhead from his duties.  I hope I'll be ok and thanks to all the fans concerned with me.  Stay Metal."

SOULFLY Premieres Music Video For "World Scum"!

Listen up Metaleros! The first video from Soulfly's upcoming album 'Enslaved' has been released for your viewing pleasure! The video was conceptualized by Max Cavalera and video director Thomas Mignone (Mudvayne, Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, Morbid Angel) and produced through his production company DOOM Incorporated. Mignone filmed the video in and around Los Angeles. Various scenes depicting humanity's perspectives of some of the world's significant historical events - such as the attack on the Russian Czar by nihilists, the mass production of Zyklon B poisons, the Gulag prisons, the assassination of the president, and a final showdown between Jesus and the Anti-christ - are seen and reflected in the song's lyrics. The cinematography is by Peter Leininger; the special efx makeup is by Maggie Hunter, the production design is by Hanna Dryland, and digital compositing & post-production is by editor/visual efx artist Christopher Neil.
