Former DESPAIR Guitarist Marek Greschek Dead At 45 - Statement Available

This is some pretty shitty news. Former DESPAIR guitarist Marek Greschek, committed suicide on May 15 at the age of 45. His former DESPAIR bandmate, producer/guitarist Waldemar Sorychta (GRIP INC., LACUNA COIL, MOONSPELL, SAMAEL), has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"Marek made a suicide.

"I have no words.

"He showed me the first chord on a guitar.

"We shared for over six years DESPAIR history. We went to the darkest and happiest moments.

"[A] FRIEND but even more importantly... [a] BROTHER left this world.

"I totaly diagree with his decision, but I have to live with the consequences.

"R.I.P. Marek"

Our condolences out to Marek's family, friends, and all the DESPAIR fans! RIP Marek!

RAMMSTEIN Unleash Two Very Different Videos For “Mein Herz Brennt”!

For the first time in Rammstein’s history, two different videos for one single are being released in parallel. Both videos were directed by Zoran Bihać and filmed in the former Heilstätten Beelitz. After “Links 2 3 4″, “Mein Teil” and “Rosenrot”, this is already the fourth collaboration between Rammstein and Bihać.

Both “Mein Herz brennt” videos, as well as the making of, are included in the video collection “Videos 1995-2012″, which is available now wherever music is sold. "Mein Herz Brennt" is taken from the bands groundbreaking album 'Mutter' (2001).

Iconic German Thrash Metal trio, DESTRUCTION, are currently locked up at Gernhart Studios in Troisdorf, Germany working on their 30th anniversary album entitled 'Spiritual Genocide'. The band is working with engineer Martin Buchwalter and are shooting for a November release via Nuclear Blast Records. KYLESAS's Laura Pleasants & ROYAL THUNDER's Mlny Parsonz Featured On Decibel Magazine's Inaugural "Women in Metal" Issue!

Decibel Magazine's inaugural Women in Metal issue featuring Laura Pleasants (Kylesa), Mlny Parsonz (Royal Thunder), Marisa Martinez (Cretin) and many more Metal badasses, is on newsstands now.

The August issue features a photo session with the three innovative female musicians as well as interviews with Jucifer, Doro, Landmine Marathon and an assortment of women in the music industry.

Kylesa, who have been on the road consistently since the Fall 2010 release of 'Spiral Shadow', recently reissued 'To Walk a Middle Course' and 'Time Will Fuse Its Worth' on colored vinyl limited quantities via Alternative Tentacles. KAMELOT Announce The Name Of Their NEW Vocalist!

The American/German symphonic Metal band KAMELOT is proud to announce another key piece leading to the release of their NEW studio album.

A question foremost in every KAMELOT fan's mind has been: Who is the group's new lead singer?*   

Band mastermind and guitarist Thomas Youngblood has now revealed: "The NEW man is Scandinavian Tommy Karevik!"

The general public may not be overly familiar with the 30 year old Swede, Karevik, but people in the industry know him as the immensely talented frontman of the Swedish band, Seventh Wonder. Youngblood states: "We had around 800 candidates for the vacant position, among them a number of really renowned musicians, and having to reject them really wasn't easy. We want to thank all the applicants, thank you for your understanding and we wish you all lots of success in the future!"

The search for Tommy Karevik.....

In their search for a NEW singer, Thomas Youngblood found YouTube to be an amazing tool: "I listened to a clip of a studio production featuring Tommy and have to confess that his performance really amazed me. His approach to melodies and themes suits KAMELOT perfectly, and during our European shows we had plenty of opportunity to find out what a great guy he is."  

Tommy first appeared as one of the guest singers on KAMELOT's very successful 2011 "Pandemonium World Tour". Live footage below. Tommy states: "The tour was a lot of fun and I met a lot of nice people and got some good experience. The guys were super nice and we had a great time together! By then I was really into the band's music and had fallen in love with the amazingly loyal and dedicated fans at every show."

Karevik is thrilled about his NEW position: "I am so honored to now be a part of this family and I can`t wait to move into the NEW era of the band together with the guys. I fully understand that this comes with great responsibility and that it will be a big challenge for me as a singer as well as a person, but you can rest assured I will give it my all. "It's been over 1.5 years since we've split up, about enough time to realize that we really miss the band and we've made a wrong decision. So we got together some time ago to decide if we should continue or not... This was an easy task: of course we want to continue! Right now we are writing some NEW stuff and plan to do some shows in the next months.

"For all the people who have already forgotten about us, or don't even know us: we've put both of our FULL albums on our Facebook page to listen to. "The NEW album will be entitled 'Raise Your Fist' and has been recorded and written in the U.S., Germany, and Scandinavia. Right now we're in the mixing stages and are close to finishing everything. Most important to me are the power hymns ‘Raise Your Fist In The Air’ and ‘Victory,’ which will also be available on the forthcoming EP! Both songs have been played live on our last tour and also made last year’s Wacken Open Air shake! ‘Raise Your Fist In The Air’ will also be available in French… which is going to be very interesting. For the diehard fans of German songs like ‘Für Immer’ (‘Forever’), there are two songs in the same vein: the sensitive and quite dark ‘Human Rights’ and the very emotional ‘Engel’ (‘Angel’). There are also a lot of fast songs like ‘Little Headbanger’ and various fist-pumping ones featuring amazing guests like Gus G (Ozzy Osbourne, Firewind) on ‘Last Man Standing’ which fans will for sure dig live. We also have a song that honors the late Ronnie James Dio called ‘Hero’ and another highlight named ‘It Still Hurts’ featuring Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister. The cover artwork has once again been created by British artist Geoffrey Gillespie who is a close friend and companion since he made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for his Triumph And Agony cover as the biggest album cover in the world. DESTRUCTION Announces Additional 30th Anniversary Headlining Shows; North American Tour Underway!

Iconic German Thrash Metal trio, Destruction, have kicked off their North American 30th Year Anniversary Tour! Direct support on this historical trek, comes from Vital Remains and Warbringer (who will be alternating each night) plus Pathology. An updated list of all the confirmed shows can be seen below.
         
Commented Destruction frontman and bassist, Schmier, “A killer package for old-school Thrash and Death Metal freaks! This may be the best set list we’ve ever had – the essence of Thrash Metal history united with our NEW anthems. We’ll have more classics than ever in the set, more from the first records for sure. Can’t wait to hit the road again!!! Some North American cities have a great audience for this old school sound again, and it wasn’t always like that. The main intention for this second North American tour within a year is that we could not play all markets that we wanted to book last time. Now, we’ll play some NEW places and return to those cities that gave us a great welcome last year like New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Montreal. Warbringer are a perfect match to a Destruction bill. They are one of the best NEW Thrash bands and keep our ‘80s spirit alive. It will be great to have them with us! We’ve played with Vital Remains before; awesome guys and a brutal band. They bring a good variety into the billing. Thrash/Death Metal is always the best mix, that’s why Pathology complete the show!”

Destruction is touring in support of its 11th studio release, 'Day Of Reckoning' (Nuclear Blast) - the first album to feature NEW drummer, Vaaver (Indukti, ex-Unsun) – which debuted at #54 on the Hard Music Albums chart, #58 on the New Artist/Heatseekers Album chart, and #143 on the Independent Current Albums chart the week following its release in March 2011. The album entered Germany’s Media Control chart at #95.

The queen of German Metal, DORO PESCH, recently took part in an online chat with here devoted fans at the Nuclear Blast Streaming Room. The entire Q & A session can be watched below.

In other DORO news, the Metal diva is currently wrapping up her NEW studio album for an October release via Nuclear Blast Records. An EP will precede the full-length CD in early summer.

DORO will be taking over Europe this fall. The 19-date trek will kick off on November 15 in Kiel, Germany and will wrap on December 9 in Berlin. Additionally, Doro will be taking part of a handful of Metal fests.

DORO To Appear On NEW Season Of THAT METAL SHOW!

Reigning Queen of Metal DORO PESCH will be appearing as a guest on VH1 Classic’s Season 10 of “That Metal Show.”

“It’s awesome that there’s such a great and unique Metal show on television. ‘That Metal Show’ is my favorite show to watch when I’m in America! I’ve known Eddie Trunk for a very long time. He’s a long-time supporter and I love what he does… and he’s always a great interview when I’m in New York. I’m very excited and looking forward to being on the show!”

Hosted by Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine, the DORO episode will air Saturday, May 12th at 9 p.m. PACIFIC/11 p.m. EASTERN. Other guests include Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy of The Cult and Tesla guitarist Frank Hannon. The NEW season of THAT METAL SHOW kicks off on Saturday, March 31st.

DORO will be participating in a live web chat with fans on Tuesday, March 13th at 10:30 a.m. PACIFIC / 1:30 p.m. EASTERN / 18:30 (6:30 p.m.) CET at the Nuclear Blast Streaming Room (link below).

DORO’s mammoth 25 Years In Rock 2 DVD/CD set – which has immortalized her 2,500th live concert – was released last September.

DORO celebrated her 25th anniversary concert in 2008 at the ISS Dome in her hometown of Düsseldorf, Germany. With over 8,500 people in attendance, this magical performance featured her long-time band members Nick Douglas (bass), Joe Taylor (guitar), Johnny Dee (drums) and Oliver Palotai (keyboards, guitar). Guest appearances were made by Overkill’s Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth, Grave Digger’s Chris Boltendahl, former Nightwish singer Tarja Turunen, Scorpions’ Klaus Meine and Rudolf Schenker, Liv Kristine (Leaves’ Eyes), Floor Jansen (After Forever), Axel Rudi Pell and many others. This once-on-a-lifetime concert set was captured in its entirety and includes outtakes from this very special career-affirming evening and is still available at the Nuclear Blast Webshop.
