Tony Iommi Is Not Cancer Free, But The "Iron Man" Can't Be Stopped - Update By Iommi Available!

During a recent interview with Guitar World magazine, Tony Iommi from BLACK SABBATH provided an update on his cancer treatment. The guitarist has been receiving treatment at the Parkway Hospital in Solihull and will have to return home from tour on a regular basis in order to receive treatment since he is not Cancer free. This totally explains why SABBATH will only be doing short tour runs for the time being.

"When I'd finished the chemo and the radiotherapy, I went to see the doctor again for my regular blood tests. I said, 'So it's gone now?' And he said, 'No, it's not going to go. You're not going to get rid of it. But we can treat it and work with it.' I got all dismal, because I thought it was gone. He said there was a 30 percent chance of it going away, but I was probably going to have this for life. Now I get treatments to keep it from spreading. So every six weeks I go in for an infusion of Rituximab, which is one of the four ingredients when they give you the chemo. It takes a few hours, and it makes you feel a bit crap inside and a bit sick. But a couple weeks after, I start perking up again. So that's how we are working it with the shows. I go out, then come back and go into the hospital for more treatment, more blood tests and all the rest of the rubbish. And then we do it all over again."

During the interview, Iommi also spoke about the bands NEW album, '13' — the first in 35 years to feature Tony, Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler. Here is what Iommi had to say about working with Rick Rubin:

"Honestly, I didn't quite know what to make of him at first. His whole idea [of pre-production] was, 'Write the song. Call me when you think it's ready.' So I would. Actually, I'd email him, because I couldn't phone him... nobody phones him. So I'd email him: 'Do you want to come down tonight?' And he'd pop in, have a listen, go, 'Yeah, I like that,' or, 'I don't like it.' We wanted him to be more involved, like, 'Well, what about changing that, or putting that bit there, or go to the A,' or whatever. But he was this elusive guy that we never really saw. But when we started recording, he was there all the time... lying on the bed with the microphone. [laughs] Blimey, what a strange guy. [laughs] His way of working was he'd have us playing it live in the studio like we did on the first album. We'd play the song a couple times, then Rick would say, 'Can you do it again?' After we'd finish, Geezer would be sitting next to me, and I'd say, 'That sounded all right didn't it?' And he'd say, 'It was a good one.' And Rick would go, 'Do another one.' [laughs] So we'd do another one, and another one, and then Rick would go, 'I think we've got it, but do you want to try another one to see if you can better it?' Ozzy would be sitting in the booth going, 'Fucking hell, we got to do it again?' [laughs] Rick definitely pushed us."

This is how OZZY saved Tony Iommi's Life!

OZZY is the man to thank for doctors finding Tony Iommi's lymphoma (a type of blood cancer) at the right time!

During a recent interview with Birmingham Mail, Iommi said that he was feeling some significant pain in his groin and OZZY insisted that he should go see a doctor. The BLACK SABBATH guitarist also said that "I have to have an antibody administered by drip every six weeks or so to keep the lymphoma in check". After the antibody is administered he's usually sick for about 10 days afterward.

"It sort of coats the cancer cells, stops it from going anywhere else. I have to come back home no matter where I might be in the world. The tour dates are arranged so that I can always get back for treatment. It’s the only way I can manage my illness and keep on the road. I’d love to play more shows than we’re doing but my health has to be sorted out first."

Read the entire interview HERE.

Ozzy recently announced that for the last year and a half he has been drinking and taking drugs. He also admits to have been an a&*hole to his loved ones. HERE is Ozzy's open letter to his fans in which he also clarifies that he is NOT divorcing Sharon.

Tony Iommi Releases Health Update: "“I have to have an antibody administered by drip every six weeks or so to keep the lymphoma in check"

During a recent interview with the Birmingham Mail in England, Tony Iommi from BLACK SABBATH provided an update on his cancer treatment. The guitarist has been receiving treatment at the Parkway Hospital in Solihull and will have to return home from tour on a regular basis in order to receive treatment. That explains why SABBATH will only be doing short tour runs for the time being.

"I have to have an antibody administered by drip every six weeks or so to keep the lymphoma in check", Iommi said. "It sort of coats the cancer cells, stops it from going anywhere else. I have to come back home no matter where I might be in the world. The tour dates are arranged so that I can always get back for treatment. It’s the only way I can manage my illness and keep on the road. I’d love to play more shows than we’re doing but my health has to be sorted out first.

"The infusions I have are part of the chemotherapy regime. It’s relatively new treatment and they don’t know what all the side-effects might be yet, but I wanted to try it. After each session I feel sick and tired, and that lasts for a week or so. I’m finding that it takes around 10 days to fully recover from each round of treatment, but if that’s what it takes, I have to accept it.

"In myself I’m feeling OK now. When I first found that I had the illness, it was a dark time and I was a bit spaced out. Since we’ve been in rehearsals and recording sessions, I’ve felt pretty good — great even. I think that the album and tour have given me something immediate to get my teeth into, something to accomplish."

Tony Iommi's Demo Ideas Chosen For Armenian Eurovision Song Entry!

It seems like the architect of our music, Mr. Tony Iommi from BLACK SABBATH, is going to have a healthy 2013. After battling with Cancer for most of 2012, Iommi's health is returning to full force. This is great news!
Here is Iommi had to say about this latest accomplishment, which has nothing to do with the NEW BLACK SABBATH:

"Well here's something different, one of my demo ideas has been chosen as the Armenian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest! It went on a short list and Saturday night was voted as the winner. I did the music and the performing band Dorians wrote the lyrics, it's called 'Lonely Planet'. They're a good band, the singer has a really good voice and the lyrics they've written are in English. It now goes to the semi-final on May 16th in Malmo, Sweden.

"Glad to be able to be involved with Armenia again, the school is coming along fine, they've got the furniture sorted and it will be opened late summer." - Tony
Recently, BLACK SABBATH revealed that the release of their NEW album has been postponed from April to June. According to Geezer Butler, production for the band's first record with frontman Ozzy Osbourne since the release of 'Never Say Die!' has been completed and this is why the band decided to release the following video teaser for the most anticipated record of 2013. Here is a trailer for the NEW Sabbath record

Anthony Frank "Tony" Iommi Celebrates His 65th Birthday!

Today (February 19), Anthony Frank "Tony" Iommi is celebrating his 65th birthday! This birthday is a very special one for Iommi since one year ago he wasn't sure if he would make it through another year due to cancer. On 9 January 2012 it was announced that Iommi had been diagnosed with early stage lymphoma. Here is an update from Iommi regarding his health status.

Iommi was born in Handsworth, Birmingham, England, and is considered the pioneer of Heavy Metal guitar shredding. As we all know, Iommi is a founding member of Black Sabbath and has been the only member to be part of every incarnation of the band.

Here are some facts about the great Tony Iommi:

- Iommi, a left-handed guitar player, is one of the most important and influential guitarists in Heavy Metal history.

- He originally wanted to play the drums, but due to the noise they produce he picked up the guitar as a teenager, after being inspired by the likes of Hank Marvin and The Shadows.

- According to Allmusic, "Iommi is one of only two guitarists (the other being Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page) that can take full credit for pioneering the mammoth riffs of Heavy Metal".

- In an industrial accident at the age of 17 on his last day of work in a sheet metal factory, he lost the tips of the middle and ring finger of his right hand. After attempting to learn to play right-handed, Iommi instead strung his guitars with lighter strings and made thimbles to extend his fingers.

- Considered the best guitarist of all time according to Guitar World's "100 Greatest Metal Guitarists of All Time".

- In 2011, Iommi released his autobiography "Iron Man: My Journey Through Heaven and Hell with Black Sabbath".

Jeremy Deacon (Formerly From Wykked Wytch) Loses Battle To Cancer - Rest In Peace!

With heavy hearts, its saddens is to inform you that Jeremy Deacon, who is the former bass player of Florida's extreme Metal band Wykked Wytch, has died of lymphoma* at the young age of 33. Here is statement from the bands frontman Ipek Warnock:

"Thank You all My dear Friends and fans for offering condolence & kind words for our Ex Bassist Jeremy deacon!I had a very rough nite dealing with his loss ,too young To Die! I will be dedicating a part for Jeremy on my upcoming radio show this Thursday. We met Jeremy in 1998 and he was part of the group off and on till 2001. He performed at many shows in NY, OH, NJ, PA, including opening slot for Dying Fetus (1998) in NYC, March Metal Meltdown II in NJ (1999), San Antonio Metalfest (1999). Only other member to have performed with the original line-up and 'Angelic Vengeance' lineup. He was also involved during the writing sessions for 'Angelic Vengeance' but couldn't take part in the recording. Lost contact over the last several years but even when we moved down to Florida we brought him down to be apart of the group but didn't work out. Jeremy was very talented and I recognized that and always tried to help but his own demons always held him back from his dreams. In closing don't hold grudge, just tell that person today that you care before it's too late! Peace my friends!!"

It's in its early stages — SABBATH is writing a new record, and they are continuing to. Iommi is the reason heavy metal exists. Pray for him. You pray to Crom, Odin, yourself — don't care who. Just send up some positive vibes for Tony Iommi. This is terrible news for metal. I've toured with Iommi a couple of times. He is a gentleman and a living legend. Hopefully since it's in early stages they can beat it pretty easily. But Iommi's not a young man, so think good thoughts! It is no secret that I have donated both my time, energy, facial hair, and a fair amount of my money to cancer research. I've walked the walk (literally) as well as talked the talk. However, there's nothing wrong with positive vibes."

Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath): "Prayers please for my brother Tony Iommi... We all pray for a full, speedy recover from cancer.... Much love…"

Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy): "Very, very sad to hear about Tony Iommi's cancer diagnosis. FIGHT! You never know what the future holds for you. Live and love every day!"

Richie Faulkner (Judas Priest): "My thoughts go out to Tony Iommi and I wish him a fast and full recovery."

Gus G. (Ozzy Osbourne, Firewind): "I'm in shock to hear the news about Tony Iommi. Get well soon 'Iron Man'!! Your biggest fan."

Michael Amott (Arch Enemy, Carcass): "Here's hoping for a solid and speedy recovery for my guitar hero Tony Iommi!"

Tony Iommi Diagnosed With Lymphoma - How Will This Affect Black Sabbath?

Today is a sad in the Heavy Music world. We regret to inform you that legendary Heavy Metal guitarist Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphocytes (a type of cell that forms part of the immune system). Iommi (63) and his doctors are currently working on the best treatment possible-the “IRON MAN” of Rock N' Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery..

This shocking news will hit all the Black Sabbath fans in their souls. As we all know, Iommi's Black Sabbath and Heaven & Hell bandmate, the legendary Ronnie James Dio, died of stomach cancer on May 16, 2010 at the age of 67.

So how exactly does this affect the future of Black Sabbath, who announced this past November that the original lineup — Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Bill Ward (drums) — has reunited to record a NEW album, along with a World Tour. As of right now, the band is continuing to write and record their first album in 33 years in Los Angeles, California, with producer Rick Rubin. However, the band plans on going to the U.K. to continue to work with Tony, while he undergoes treatment.

We wish Tony a quick and speedy recovery! \m/
