Heavy Music history was written on Thursday, May 2 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, CA. Not only did the Revolver Golden Gods Awards welcome the elite of the music we all love, but the energy inside the sold out venue was incomparable. Here is a scoop of who won what, and who performed with whom. Right after the event was concluded with a historical performance by METALLICA, we ran into Jose Mangin (Sirius XM) right outside the venue! Jose was pretty speechless and emotional after thousands of headbangers paid tribute to SLAYER's Jeff Hanneman at the fifth edition of the Revolver Golden Gods Awards. During this interview, which was crashed by LAPD, we chatted about the growth of the Golden Gods Awards and how the fans have risen to the occasion year after year. Check it out now!

many of Heavy Music's finest to pay tribute to their frontman Mitch

The Heavy Music world was struck last year by the very
sad news that Mitchell Adam Lucker passed away at the young age of 28 (More information HERE).
According to the Los Angeles Times, Lucker struck a light pole
near the intersection of Main and 13th streets and was thrown from
his 2013 Harley Davidson. The motorcycle continued sliding south
on Main Street and struck a northbound 2007 Nissan Titan pickup. Beginning this Thursday, January 3rd, our good friends over at Sirius XM Liquid Metal will broadcast the "Liquid Metal Behind The Scenes -> Mitch Lucker Memorial Show". Here is the schedule:

Hailing from Los Angeles, the BUTCHER BABIES have emerged as one of the biggest draws on the Sunset Strip, their incendiary blend of Heavy Metal and horror-inspired theatrics inciting crowds worldwide.
Fronted by Carla Harvey and Heidi Shepherd - named two of the year's 'Hottest Women In Rock' by Revolver Magazine - the blood-splattered band left their mark on the United Kingdom in June, appearing on the Download festival and supporting Anthrax in Cardiff. They returned to America as direct support for Otep in fall, and are wrapping up their first headlining tour tonight in front of a hometown crowd at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip. The band - vocalists Harvey and Shepherd, guitarist Henry Flury, bassist Jason Klein and drummer Chris Warner - will be performing with labelmates In This Moment tomorrow night in Las Vegas.

Here are a few updates about the NEW BLACK SABBATH album:
- Ozzy Osbourne is currently in the studio recording vocals with Rick Rubin.
- 15 songs that have been written.
- Geezer Butler says the NEW record will contain 12 songs, with the remaining 3 being included as bonus tracks on special editions of the record. Geezer is also in charge of writing all the lyrics.
- Tony Iommi recorded all 15 guitar tracks during the band's sessions in England earlier this year.
- Ozzy and Geezer are working in five song increments, with the first five being worked on currently.
- One song title has been confirmed and it's "God Is Dead."
- According to Ozzy, Tony Iommi is in good spirits and his recovery from Cancer is progressing smoothly.

“The reason I came to NYC was to record the first installment of my radio show for Sirius/XM’s Liquid Metal channel. That’s right, I have my own damn radio show now. My homeboy @JoseMangin (who has done a lot for Lamb Of God since the start) hit me up & said: “Um, dude, do you want a radio show?” WHY NOT? I have decided to call my show THE CRUCIBLE. Besides being a fantastic play by Arthur Miller (and a container that holds MOLTEN METAL), a crucible is defined as a difficult or trying experience, one that you come out of harder and more refined & more pure.
"Sometimes life is like that- you have to step into the fire to burn away all the crap & and just take the pain that comes with it. It hurts, but if you want to be A BETTER PERSON, you face this stuff & forge yourself anew, PURER & HARDER. One thing that has always helped me through these times is MUSIC. So on my show, I’ll be playing songs by bands that have helped shape me into the man that I am today, that have gotten me through the rough shit. I’ll also be playing songs by newer artists I like, & I’ll be telling some stories about what all the tunes mean to me. Then, once every show if I can, I will interview a member of one of the bands I’ll be playing, & I’ll ask them about what their music means to them. Right now (due to scheduling & my uncertain future), the show will be once a month- I want to do it more often eventually, but right now I’m kinda busy & have a situation to settle.

presentation during their upcoming U.S. tour. If you are in the
military, or have a husband, wife, brother, sister, friend or family

Great news! Atlanta, Georgia's SEVENDUST has completed production of their ninth studio album and plan on releasing their NEW batch of songs in early 2013. The CD was recorded at Architekt Music studios in Butler, New Jersey with engineer Mike Ferretti.
SEVENDUST's effort is entitled 'Cold Day Memory' and has sold around 27,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 12 on the Billboard 200 chart.
This past Sunday, October 7th, SEVENDUST invited 107 of their closest friends and supporters for a very special private showcase of their NEW album. Earlier this week, during the "Eddie Trunk Live" show on SiriusXM, DOKKEN's own Don Dokken confessed that the band's latest album, 'Broken Bones', will be their very last effort. Don explained that he feels that it is time to move on, in order to spread his musical wings and do something very different. He also told Trunk that he would like to make a very "heavy" Metal record, featuring a musical that is "a cross between TOOL and SLAYER."
In related news, DOKKEN has parted ways with drummer Mick Brown and has replaced him with Jimmy DeGrasso (MEGADETH, Y&T, ALICE COOPER, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES).
DOKKEN's NEW video for their song "Empire" can be seen below. The clip was directed by Devin DeHaven (WHITESNAKE, P.O.D., BUSTA RHYMES) and features a post-apocalyptic take on the band's signature sound of catchy melodies, hot riffs and monster production.
'Broken Bones' was produced by DOKKEN frontman and namesake Don Dokken and was mixed by Bob St. John (EXTREME, DURAN DURAN, COLLECTIVE SOUL) and Wyn Davis (BLACK SABBATH, DIO, WHITESNAKE) and mastered by famed engineer Maor Appelbaum (HALFORD, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, SEPULTURA). The new set features a return to the band's signature sound of catchy melodies, hot riffs and monster production.

On Sunday, September 9th, Rob Dukes' side band GENERATION KILL performed a very intimate set at Dingbatz in Clifton, New Jersey. The event also featured SLAYER's Dave Lombardo sode project PHILM, LOW ROAD, HAMMER FIGHT and ONE BREAK DOWN. Additionally, Jose Mangin (SIRIUS XM) hosted and DJed the event.
In case you haven't listened to the GENERATION KILL's 'Red, White and Blood', it is a record that you must listen. While Dukes' famous EXODUS style growls are evident, his NEW band has elements of Hard Core blended in perfectly with Thrash Metal!

As previously reported, Jose Mangin (Sirius XM) exclusively told us that the folks behind MTV2.com are shutting down Headbangers Ball for good. In response, MTV released the following statement to SPIN:
"MTV is committed to the 'Headbangers Ball' franchise and can confirm that it will continue as an online destination with its hub remaining on MTV2.com. The company's deal with Jose Mangin has concluded. However, MTV will continue to program a weekly playlist for fans of the genre."
Our guess is that they will have music video playlists on their online platform. Isn't that what YouTube is for?
