Heavy Music history was written on Thursday, May 2 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, CA. Not only did the Revolver Golden Gods Awards welcome the elite of the music we all love, but the energy inside the sold out venue was incomparable. Here is a scoop of who won what, and who performed with whom.
Prior to the event we took over the Black Carpet and chatted with Chris Jericho from FOZZY and the WWE, who also happens to be the house guest of the Revolver Golden Gods Awards! Watch this now!
The entire event was dedicated to SLAYER's Jeff Hanneman, who passed away recently from liver failure. Details HERE!
FOZZY's video for their NEW song "Sandpaper" can be seen right now at WWE.com. The song features a guest appearance by AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows, and is part of the bands latest album 'Sin And Bones' (available now via Century Media Records).
'Sin And Bones' sold around 3,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 143 on the Billboard 200 chart. The CD landed at position No. 1 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by NEW and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
On August 30th, musician/wrestler Chris Jericho's FOZZY performed at the Gramercy Theatre in the city that never stops rocking. Prior to the bands superb performance, we had the chance to join forces with our good friends from Nextmosh.com to interview Jericho about his bands NEW album 'Sin & Bones' (available now via Century Media Records), the bands current headlining of the Jägermeister at the 2012 UPROAR Festival (presented by Rockstar Energy Drink), and of course the WWE! In anticipation of the release, FOZZY has released a video called "Evolution Of Fozzy" in which frontman Chris Jericho divulges everything from the inception of the band, to how they were signed to their first label, and how they ended up where they are today with Century Media Records. As previously reported, FOZZY's Chris Jericho was "suspended indefinitely"
from the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment for denigrating the
Brazilian flag. The incident took place yesterday (Thursday, May 24) in
São Paulo during a match with C.M. Punk (recipient of the Golden God for
"Most Metal Athlete").
Wrestler and rocker Chris Jericho, has been "suspended indefinitely" from the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment for denigrating the Brazilian flag. The incident took place yesterday (Thursday, May 24) in São Paulo during a match with C.M. Punk (recipient of the Golden God for "Most Metal Athlete"). What happened?
During the match between Jericho and C.M. Punk, the latter was waving the Brazilian flag proudly. All of a sudden Jericho crumbled up the Brazilian flag into a ball, threw it on the ground and kicked it. He was then informed that desecrating the national flag is a crime in Brazil punishable by incarceration.
Following the incident Jericho apologized to the Brazilian crowd: "I'd like to apologize for stepping on the flag earlier. I love Brazil. We are very happy to be here to perform in front of you. So please accept my apology for stepping on your wonderful flag of this wonderful country."
A short time later, the WWE posted this message on their web site:
"Chris Jericho has been suspended indefinitely due to an irresponsible act of denigrating the Brazilian flag at a WWE live event in São Paulo on May 24. WWE has apologized to the citizens and the government of Brazil for this incident."
Two weeks ago, America’s only Hard Rock and Heavy Metal award show took over downtown Los Angeles! The fourth annual REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARD SHOW presented by Epiphone® rocked out at Club Nokia in Downtown Los Angeles. For the first time ever, the event was broadcast live in its entirety on Xbox LIVE, as well as on the Xbox and Revolver Facebook pages.
Prior to the beginning of the awards show, we had the chance to chat with Chris Jericho, the "house" guest host of the REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARD SHOW. Jericho is also the frontman of FOZZY and of course, a WWE fighter! During the chat we talked to Jericho about the connection between the Heavy Music fans and the wrestling fans. We also chatted with him about what it mean to be the "house" guest host of the awards show for the third year in a row!
