MAYHEM Fest Launches With Over 42K Attendees At First Two Shows; Biggest Opening Days In The Festival's History!

Verifying Yahoo.com’s rating as the #2 “Best Summer Tour of 2012”, the ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL kicked off this weekend to a record-breaking start—over 26,000 heavy metal headbangers attended the tour kick-off in San Bernardino on Saturday, July 30th alone! That is over 4,000 more attendees than the previous record. Overall during the entire first two days, the festival brought 42,000 fans together to celebrate heavy metal, making this year the biggest yet for the world’s largest touring heavy music festival. No Mercy Metal Showcase Presents: Tim No 37 Celebration at Club Europa!

Tomorrow night, Club Europa will end up needing a new rooftop, a new sounds system, and a new dance floor! Not only is the No Mercy Metal Showcase taking place, but the event marks the celebration of New York Heavy Music badass Tim Martinez's (A.K.A. Tim No 37) 10 years of hard work and dedication to the scene, as well as his 32nd birthday. Additionally, it will be the birthday celebration for Alekhine's Gun front-woman Jessica Pimentel.

The brutal lineup is composed by Forever In Terror (New York City return), Alekhine's Gun, Fall Of The Albatross, Brick By Brick, Desolate, Lies Beneath, and No Remission. The event will be hosted by Jose Mangin from Sirius XM "Liquid Metal" and MTV2.com "Headbangers Ball", and Mistress Juliya from Fuse TV. Additionally, Jo Schüftan from Horns Up Rocks will be blasting some Heavy Music in between sets. Here are all the details.

Black Label Society Dominate New York City

This past Saturday, the much anticipated "Uranium tour 2011" took over New York City's Irving Plaza. From the moment we arrived to Irving Place (street were Irving Plaza is located), we ran into hundreds of BLS fans that were proudly wearing their BLS vests and getting riled up for the mayhem what would ensue a few hours later.

The sold out concert was hosted by Uranium host Mistress Juliya, who demonstrated that she is a phenomenal media personality who can easily make a crowd go wild with a simple: "Hey, don't be a pussy, its cool to put your Metal Horns Up!"

The night was kicked off by Anchored, Hourcast, and Rev Theory, who had the arduous task of warming up the crowd for the mighty Black Label Society. It was clear from the get-go that Black Label Society was the headliner of the night, to the point that the venue filled up from front to back, side to side, as soon as the clock hit the tenth hour of the second half of the day. Both openers performed decent sets, but nothing compares to the beast that was unleashed once Juliya welcomed BLS to New York Rock City!

We had personally never seen the band perform live and were completely blown away from the moment they curtain was dropped. Not only did they sound very tight, but Zakk had full control of the crowd from beginning to end! His guitars sounded larger than live thanks to his 20 Marshall cabinets and the sound crew managed to not let his furious guitar sound clash with the rest of the instruments. What really impressed us is how their set-list was put together so that the performance felt very organic, it didn't feel like they were playing one song after the other, it felt a well produced concert that could have easily taken place at a bigger venue.

All in all, Black Label Society proved that they are a very underrated band. Oh, and lets not forget that the band did an awesome interlude which included a 15 minute solo by Zakk Wylde, who also performed solo a few of the BLS piano classics with a synthetizer! URANIUM Tour invades New York City this Weekend

For many years, the TV show Uranium on Fuse TV was a "household name" in the Heavy Music world. The work done my Mistress Juliya and crew, brought the viewers a chaotic and very well put together program, which represented the culture behind the music we all love! The interviews were raw and uncensored, and Juliya quickly became a great representative for the ladies in the scene. After being canceled by Fuse TV, Juliya decided to focus on different professional endeavors, and to reinvent herself.

After a few years of putting Uranium aside, she decided it was time to bring the masses the "URANIUM Tour 2011"! The event features Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society. Joining BLS are Hail The Villain, and Rev Theory.

When it comes to representing Heavy Music worldwide, their are very few media personalities out there that have had the impact that Mistress Juliya has had during the last 10 years. Remember that TV show called "Uranium"? What about "Metal Asylum" and "Slave To The Metal"? Well, for the first time ever we are stoked to announce the "URANIUM Tour 2011", presented by The House Of Blues, Right Arm Entertainment and of course, Mistress Juliya from Fuse TV.

The event marks the return of Uranium in the form of a national tour and feature Black Label Society, Hail The Villain, All That Remains and/or Rev Theory (they will replace All That Remains in June). Additionally, Mistress Juliya will be hosting some of the shows.

Hate the Hate!

In the past few years there have been numerous incidents in which human beings have lost their lives after being harassed by some cowards who are too weak to face their own reality and need to feel better by hurting others. This has to stop!

Here in New York City we live in a "melting pot" full of people from all over the world. So to us this is a subject that we don't just hear or read about, but it is something we face daily. This is why New York City is uniting this Saturday February 26th in an event presented by Tim Martinez (A.K.A. DJ Tim No 37). “Hate the Hate” is the name of the event and it will take place at Tammany hall, which is a brand new state of the art facility in the Lower East Side section of Manhattan.

Here is a rundown of what will take place this Saturday, please join the Horns Up Rocks crew and lets make history together!

#200: Tribute to the Horns Up Rocks CHICAS

In the last few years, life changing events took place in the life of Jo Schuftan (founder of Horns Up Rocks). After lots of hardship and some very trying times, he strongly gripped all the challenges thrown at him by life, and decided it was time to follow his passion for all things Heavy! Next thing you know, he creates a web movement called Horns Up Rocks and with perseverance, hard work and attitude, he single handily takes over the New York City Heavy Music scene. At the time some were skeptic about his creation, but he knew that the timing was perfect and that the underground music scene needed a jump start.

Today Horns Up Rocks is proud to bring you post number 200! After hearing some horror stories from some of our female fans, who have been victims of some loser stalkers, we decided to pay tribute to them. One of our missions since day 1 was to empower women worldwide! Horns Up Rocks thanks all the women who have contributed to the Heavy Music scene, you all bring in so much talent and have helped to revitalize the scene. We salute all the women that make a difference on a daily basis. All the musicians, models, promoters, artists, photographers/videographers, radio and television hosts, and of course all of you who support Horns Up Rocks! Thanks for keeping the scene alive and sexy! You can always count on us, and to proof this here is a VERY special tribute to all of you! \m/
