CRADLE OF FILTH: Dani Filth Is Upset With U.S. Immigration For Denying The Bands Visa's

Recently, CRADLE OF FILTH were forced to cancel their "28 Days Closer to Hell" U.S. tour due to immigration issues. Here is what the bands frontman Dani Filth posted on his blog regarding this unfortunate event:

"Dearest readers,

"The week we were due to receive our US performance visas truly was one of the worst weeks of my life, as it launched itself blazing into nightmare with the rotten news that the US tour was being cancelled. Believe you me, there is still no one more pissed off about this than me, over nothing more than a silly visa issue. Still, what can you do, the more you complain about the immigration laws, the less likely we are to get in next time we intend to tour?

"Unfortunately there is no way of getting around this problem, whatever anybody says and believe you me we have tried vigorously through various official channels and at some expense, it is just a hard cold fact of entry into the US at the moment. So, better that we postpone/cancel than lead people on any further in the hope that Cradle will be making at least some of these current dates, including Canada, which comes cost-wise part and parcel of touring North America as a whole.

"It truly is a royal nightmare, as the tour obviously took a lengthy time to route and organise, plus there are the other bands, booking agents, bus companies, local promoters, venues, venue staff and of course, our loyal fans in attendance to consider. Still, if it's any consolation at all, it does mean that there is a distinct possibility that when the visas are eventually processed, we will be able to come back to the States on a much longer tour, seeing as there was a huge amount of people on our Facebook page complaining about the band not playing anywhere near where they lived. Believe me when I say this, we hear you, and the next tour will take all these requests into ardent consideration. So, if you want Cradle to come to your country, town or city, make your sepulchral voice heard now… Fuck it, speak to the local promoters if you have to!

"And if this wasn't enough misery to unhappily digest, it was then followed by a horrid bout of flu. I had Pharyngitis, Toni had Laryngitis and the rest of the week was spent in the company of a high temperature, headache, earache, limb ache, all-else ache and a raging sore throat combination pack. On Valentine's Day, that most romantic evening of the year, having cancelled our posh dinner and movie date, we were both rolled in as many layers of clothing as was humanly possible to keep warm in bed. And we were still shivering through fever. Now, nigh on two weeks on and the final dregs of the chest infection that came with it are still airing themselves via a hacking great cough and a sinister, snivelling cold.

"Anyway, I'd like to end this section of my blog by offering a massive apology to everybody that has been let down by this cancellation, especially the all-important Crewdle Of Filth, The Agonist, Decapitated and The Faceless. If there was any way we could change this, we indefatigably would. Without question. Our friends and fans are the most important thing to this band. Period."

"Eddie Van Halen underwent an emergency surgery for a severe bout of diverticulitis. No further surgeries are needed and a full recovery is expected within four - six months.

"VAN HALEN's scheduled November 2012 tour of Japan is currently being rescheduled and the band looks forward to seeing and playing for their fans in 2013."

As previously reported, the 31 Van Halen concert dates that were postponed in May have now been officially cancelled. Various reports suggested that the band was burned out from performing 48 shows over several months of touring.

The band will play Japan in November, and rumors persist of an Australia tour late this year, and/or another US tour next year. There is also a rumor that VAN HALEN might appear at next years Super Bowl half time show!

Who says there is no money in the music industry? VAN HALEN has grossed millions of dollars this year!

According to "Pollstar’s Mid-Year Charts & Figures", VAN HALEN is the second highest grossing band (and third highest grossing act, overall) in North America during the first half of 2012! Here are the stats:

- Van Halen played 49 shows in 47 cities.

- Average number of tickets sold per show: 9,513

- Average ticket price: $100.11

- Total number of tickets sold: 448,506

- Average gate per show: $955,319

- Tour gross: $44,900,000

Lower ticket prices, a drop in the number of tickets sold and Cirque du Soleil are all factors in Pollstar’s Mid-Year Analysis.

The top-grossing act during the first six months of 2012 wasn’t a band or an artist with a mega-selling album. Instead it’s Cirque du Soleil – “Michael Jackson: The Immortal,” which played 95 shows in 46 cities and sold 703,793 tickets for a total gross of $78.5 million.

Other acts among the top five on Pollstar’s Top 100 N.A. Tours are:

1) Roger Waters with the former Pink Floydian selling 575,444 tickets for a final gross of$61.9 million

2) Van Halen’s 448,506 tickets sold resulting in a final gross of $44.9 million

3) Kenny Chesney selling 386,969 tickets and grossing $33.9 million

4) Lady Antebellum’s 708,715 tickets sold giving the group a $30.9 million

Crunching the numbers, the intrepid mathematical geniuses in Pollstar’s Boxoffice Department determined that the Top 100 Tours in North America generated a combined gross of $1,125.9 million, up 1.2 percent over last year.

VAN HALEN: Open Letter From David Lee Roth Regarding Superbowl Rumors

Will VAN HALEN perform at the Superbowl half time show next year? Well, "Diamond Dave" was written the following letter in order to address this rumors:

"I’m compelled to address the now-rampant rumors that Van Halen is playing the Superbowl. First of all let me say this — be still my pigskin heart. That honor has not been bestowed upon us at this time though it is one we would accept in a NY minute.

"Having heard VH blaring through stadium speakers on any given Sunday – more like every given Sunday, the idea of playing there live would be like – ‘okay, now we’re in the game’.

"Van Halen’s collective memories are – and with all due respect to each and every one of these memories, teeming with been-theres and done-that’s, but none include playing at the Superbowl. Playing at the Superbowl is a veritable holy grail of musical recognition, a highly prized rite of passage for (game-changing) artists. Not a spiritual rite with snake pits or Hebrew school or anything, but it’s up there.

"We are not on Commissioner Goodell’s dance card at this time, but we would be most honored to dance the halftime away in New Orleans.

"It’s an honor to be considered and for that we would like to thank the rumormongers all over the World Wide Web."

- David Lee Roth

Will VAN HALEN Perform At The Superbowl Half Time Show? David Lee Roth To Address Rumors!

From VAN HALEN's News Desk:

It all started with a quote from Eddie Van Halen; “In November, we’ll hit Japan, and in the new year, we’ll possibly do something special, but I can’t talk about it.”

This quote kicked off rampant rumors that “something special” might mean that Van Halen could be the band considered to play the Superbowl halftime show next February. Keep in mind, rumors of Van Halen playing the Superbowl are nothing NEW – their name pops up annually as a potential performer.

It seems to be Van Halen’s protocol never to address rumors. We at the Van Halen News Desk have never commented on the Superbowl rumors either, as they have never been anything other than fan’s wishful thinking. This year was originally no different – we weren’t planning on addressing the rumors without first hearing something either way from our trusted inside sources. But wouldn’t you know, our sources now tell us that David Lee Roth is indeed going to publically address the Superbowl rumors within the next few days. Now, that sounds interesting! (Dare we say it sounds “promising”?)

We’ll speculate that if (and that’s a big “if”!) Van Halen actually ends up playing the Superbowl next year, we think they would almost certainly tour right afterwards. The Superbowl is a humongous opportunity for publicity on the biggest television sports event in the US, so it wouldn’t make sense for the band not to tour afterwards.

In fact, 114 million people tuned to in to watch Madonna perform at the halftime show this year. The last 3 Superbowl's now sit at one, two, and three on the most viewed programs list in TV history. And as David Lee Roth has said, on any given day, you can walk into any hockey arena or football stadium throughout the country and you’ll hear Van Halen’s music blaring to get the crowd pumped up. So Van Halen and the Superbowl would go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Could 2013 be another huge year for Van Halen? That would really be something, considering the fact that 2012 is such a stellar year in their carreer, with the release of their critically acclaimed masterpiece, 'A Different Kind Of Truth', and their hugely successful 48 city US tour which just wrapped up last week.

As previously reported, the 31 Van Halen concert dates that were postponed in May have now been officially cancelled. Various reports suggested that the band was burned out from performing 48 shows over several months of touring.

VAN HALEN Officially Cancel A Slew Of Tour Dates!

The 31 Van Halen concert dates that were postponed in May have now been officially cancelled. Various reports suggested that the band was burned out from performing 48 shows over several months of touring.

The band will play Japan in November, and rumors persist of an Australia tour late this year, and/or another US tour next year.

The band will play Japan in November, and rumors persist of an Australia tour late this year and another US tour next year.

From Pollstar:

When dozens of summer dates were removed from Van Halen’s website in May without an explanation, it wasn’t clear whether the dates would eventually be rescheduled. Now the dates are officially listed as canceled.

All dates after the rock band’s June 26 concert in New Orleans were called off, a total of more than 30 gigs.  Although Van Halen hasn’t posted an announcement on its website, if you check out the band’s list of dates on Ticketmaster.com, you’ll find that shows including Uncasville, Conn.; Baltimore; Rochester, N.Y.; Detroit; Toledo, Ohio; Memphis, Tenn.; Sacramento, Calif.; Reno, Nev.; and Milwaukee are now marked in red as canceled. As of post time, not all shows on Ticketmaster are listed as canceled.

Refunds are available at the point of purchase. Tickets purchased online or by phone will be automatically credited to your credit card.

In May, days after the dates were first pulled, David Lee Roth posted a video explaining that despite rumors, the “band is getting along famously.”

Diamond Dave didn’t say whether fans should hold onto their tickets and wait for new dates to be announced. Instead, this is what he had to say about why the tour had been cut short:

“As usual, we bit off way more than we could chew when it came to scheduling. The band is winning but our schedule has been sidelined for unnecessary roughness. If we continue past July 4 and all the way into Australia and Japan then we’re asking for the robot zombie tour.”

USA Today published an interview with Eddie Van Halen and his son Wolfgang earlier in June in which the elder Van Halen used the same idiom as his bandmate.

“We bit off more than we could chew. This record took a lot out of us. And we went on tour earlier than we wanted to so we could play Madison Square Garden (in March, before a renovation), and that threw the schedule out of whack.”

He added that Van Halen planned to play Japan in November “and in the New Year, we’ll possibly do something special, but I can’t talk about it.”

The cancelled dates are:

- 7/7:  Uncasville, Ct., Mohegan Sun Arena
- 7/9:  Hampton, Va., Hampton Coliseum

KING'S X Cancel North American Tour Dates Following Jerry Gaskill's Heart Attack!

As previously reported, Jerry Gaskill, drummer for legendary rockers KING'S X, suffered a heart attack Sunday, February 26, and was accordingly rushed to the hospital. After undergoing an emergency operation, Jerry was put in intensive care (where he currently remains).

In light of Jerry's sudden hospitalization, all upcoming North American tour dates for KING'S X have been cancelled. Jerry will be spending these days recovering back to full health so that he can hopefully join the band behind the drums at some point in the future.
