On Saturday, May 12, 2012, the "Heritage Tour" came to an end at The
Masquerade in Atlanta, Georgia. This very rocking tour, was one of the best of the year thanks to the awesome musical
display brought to thousands of fans by OPETH, MASTODON and GHOST. The
"Heritage Tour" marked the first time these three titans of progressive
and forward-thinking hard Rock and Heavy Metal hit the road together
and it sure was one for the ages.
Very soon, this coming Spring to be more specific, OPETH will return to North America! Here is a video announcement released by Roadrunner Records:

GWAR Announces NEW Guitarist PUSTULUS MAXIMUS; NEW Album In The Works!
It was a little less than a year ago that the world was rocked by the passing of Flattus Maximus, back to the cosmos from whence he came. And since that day fans of GWAR have wondered how the mighty overlords of GWAR would deal with the void it left within the band. GWAR responded the only way they knew how-by soldiering on-and continued to play as a four-piece. But from the very beginning of that phase, the quest began to find the NEW Scumdog that was in every way as magnificent as his predecessor. Today the members of GWAR are pleased to inform their legions of followers, and even more so their many enemies, that once again the band is whole, with the proclamation that long-lost cousin of Flattus, Pustulus Maximus, has officially joined the band in the position of lead guitarist, and will join with the group on their upcoming "Fate or Chaos" tour with DevilDriver.
Pustulus offered his first words to the press with the following, "At this point I have nothing to say to the press, even though I am talking to you. I will let my guitar speak for itself. But let me add that I am blood-sworn to honor the legacy of the great Flattus and indeed the whole Maximus tribe. I didn't come here to fuck around. HAIL FLATTUS!"
But how did all of this come to pass? It was easy to get a quote from GWAR lead singer, Oderus Urungus:
"Naturally we were devastated by the passing of Flattus. But we turned that grief into rage and set about the task of finding a NEW guitar player. The first thing we did was sound the mighty Horn of Hate, and alert all Scumdogs, scattered across the galaxy as they are, as to what had occurred. What people didn't know about Flattus was that was is part of a huge tribe of brutish warriors, The Maximus Clan. They are at the core of any Scumdog Legion worth its blood! Planet Maximus is just crawling with them!"
Oderus farted, blowing a hole in the wall, and continued. "Many of the tribe had fought and even played in bands with Flattus, and we began to get messages from across the stars. The Scumdogs were coming! Coming to Earth to lay tracks on our NEW album, and pay tribute to the mighty Flattus. Soon the War-Barges of Maximus tribe members began to appear in Earth's orbit... and land outside our great temple! Bubonis, Infectitcus, Fartacus, and many more-all have participated in the creation of the songs that shall be on our NEW album, which will be out sometime next year. But it was not until the hulking form of Pustulus appeared at the studio door, bloody guitar in hand, that we knew we had our NEW member. Here was a being that was supposedly born with a guitar in his fist, which of course resulted in the death of his beloved mother, whose body he immediately devoured. If anyone can replace our beloved comrade, it is this foul creature. Because he can fucking shred."
Little else is known about this being, other than that he has a skin condition where his face and feet are covered in painful pustules that can only be soothed by the application of savage Metal, spoiled elephant semen or oral sex. Pustulus is also rumored to be half-deaf, which leads him to yell at everyone, which he does often, because he is convinced everyone in the band is ignoring him when actually he just can't hear what they are saying. It is not known whether he crashed his Scumship into Antarctica or wandered up from the depths of GWAR's Antarctic fortress - all that is known is that he is here, now, and is ready to ROCK.
But GWAR fans wont have to wait until the tour to witness the ax-mastery of Pustulus.
Make sure to visit The A.V. Club http://www.avclub.com tomorrow to see Pustulus as he shreds for the first time with his Scumdog Brothers in GWAR on a very special song that no other band would play, because it is so fucking hard. Unless of course you are GWAR.

GWAR

SYLOSIS Are Ready To Take Names At The LAMB OF GOD Tour With IN FLAMES, HATEBREED & HELLYEAH!
UK based modern thrash heroes SYLOSIS will tour the United States with LAMB OF GOD, on their first tour since Randy Blythe’s release from Czech prison, this October - December. Joining them are Swedish titans IN FLAMES, deathcore pioneers HATEBREED OR HELLYEAH.
Commented SYLOSIS in an official statement:
"We're extremely honored to be heading out with LAMB OF GOD this Fall on their North American tour. The package is huge with IN FLAMES, HATEBREED and HELLYEAH so to be opening up the show each night is going to be awesome. This is only our 2nd tour in America and we sincerely couldn't ask for better. This will also be the first tour in support of our coming album Monolith so we're looking forward to playing new tracks on this mammoth tour!"
"Little known secret; METALLICA's '...And Justice For All' and DEATH's 'Symbolic' record had a baby. It was tossed into a junkyard and forgotten about. It ate Metal and drank gasoline until it broke free and began to kill. SYLOSIS defines modern Speed Metal. " – Chris Adler (LAMB OF GOD)
'Monolith' was recorded with Romesh Dodangoda in Wales at Monnow Valley Studio and mastered by Jens Bogren (SOILWORK, AMON AMARTH, BLOODBATH) at Fascination Street Studios. The artwork was created this time around by Dan Goldsworthy (ACCEPT, HELL).
'Monolith' will be unleashed on October 5th (Europe) and October 9th via Nuclear Blast Records.
Part 1 of their in-studio documentary chronicling the making of 'Monolith' can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/9AoY0esZBhw.
'Monolith' Track List:
1. Out From Below
2. Fear The World
3. What Dwells Within
4. Behind The Sun
5. The River
6. Monolith
7. Paradox
8. A Dying Vine
9. All Is Not Well
10. Born Anew
11. Enshrined
Guitarist/vocalist Josh Middleton previously commented about the album:
"Monolith is the best representation of us as a band in terms of our diverse influences, and stylistically it's what we've always been aiming for. A mixture of thrash, big doomy riffs and dark atmospherics and ambience.”
“The idea for the concept was very loosely inspired by the Greek tale of Orpheus and Eurydice,” continued Middleton. “It's quite far-fetched but it's about this guy who loses his wife and tries to bring her back from underworld. This giant monolith starts to grow out of her tomb. The most prevalent theme beneath it all is sort of accepting that you might not be as nice a person as you once thought. It sounds really cheesy but everyone has a darker side to their personality in terms of being selfish, manipulative or dishonest.”

ELUVEITIE Part Ways With Guitarist & Announce Replacement - Official Statement Available!
This just in:
ELUVEITIE has announced that they have parted ways with guitarist Simeon Koch after eight years.
Commented the band in a collective statement: "Sime was thinking about this since quite a long time already and finally decided to take this step. He will set about some new goals in his life — both vocational and familial — which will make it impossible for him to play in a touring band.
"Sime was part of ELUVEITIE for right years now, part of our little, crazy family — and we will dearly miss him. But at the same time we're thankful for the awesome time we spent together. We wish him and his family all the best for his personal and vocational future!
"We'd like to make you aware of two special shows: Sime will share the stage with us as special guest on the 20th of September in the Kofmehl (Solothurn, CH) and on the 29th of December in the Eulachhalle (Eluveitie & Friends festival, Winterthur, CH)! Don't miss it!
"At the same time it's about time to introduce you to the man who will follow in Sime's footsteps! His name is Rafael Salzmann [pictured above right] and he will play the upcoming tours with us as a live session guitarist.
"Rafael is a gifted musician and very skilled guitar player and he also already has been working together with Anna in the Soundfarm Studios. Now we're looking forward a lot to rock the stages together with him!
"On a related note, Päde [Kistler, flutes] will have to take a short leave for personal reasons as well and will rejoin our tour with SABATON in the beginning of October. In the meantime, there's still seven of us left to kick some ass all over Europe!"
Added Simeon Koch: "A couple of months ago, I informed my bandmates that I'll leave ELUVEITIE in September 2012 for familial reasons. It was a very tough call, it was difficult to make this decision — in a way the band is part of the family too, after all. I will dearly miss ELUVEITIE. But, fortunately, the world (or rather Switzerland) is small: I will still play the upcoming shows in Solothurn's Kofmehl and the Eluveitie & Friends festival with full commitment! I wish the band all the best and accident-free upcoming tours!"

GWAR-B-Q A Huge Success Even Though "Attack Of The Show" Hottie Didn't Make It!
"Beyond our wildest dreams, and they can get pretty kinky, we were almost completely 100 % satisfied with this years GWAR-B-Q", said lead singer Oderus Urungus, reached at his Antarctic bungalo. "Everything went well, except that hottie from Attack of the Show didn't show up... but I suppose that is understandable. We did feed her to a worm last year!"
From everything to the weather (which was an enjoyable 85 degrees), to the authorities (who seemed to be enjoying themselves), to the bands (who all put on amazing sets), all conditions were in perfect alignment and the much-anticipated event went off without a hitch... well, almost.
Slave Pit spokesman Dave Brockie had this to say about the event: "The "Meat and Beat" went great, and Oderus stayed in the area an extra three hours to make sure everybody got to hang out with their Lord and Master. It was a great line-up of great bands, and we got to see both Sleazy P. AND The Sexecutioner! It was a huge improvement over last year (when we didn't even manage to have it outside) - we made big strides this year and I am sure next year we will get even bigger and better. Rest assured any hiccups we had have been noted and will be sorted out for next year's event... so see ya at GWAR-B-Q 2013!"
Perhaps the best way to judge the success of the event is to hear it from the fans themselves-
Worth the drive down from Delaware for sure!!! Always up for GWAR especially when they bring Sexy back!!! And Ghoul kicked ass too!!
-Tom Flynn
It was still worth every second, dying of thirst or not. I was there for GWAR and to have a good time which I did. And that's all that mattered.
-Kristen Maresca
I had the greatest weekend of my life. My son and I traveled from Florida and it was worth every penny we paid!
-Lonny Amendolea
Thanks to all of the people that made this awesome event happen. GWAR is currently working on a new album, the first since the passing of longtime guitarist Cory Smoot last year. Look for an announcement soon regarding GWAR's search for a new Scumdog as GWAR prepares to debut the newest member of the GWAR tribe on this fall's "Fate or Chaos" North American tour.

WINDS OF PLAGUE Announce Lineup Changes As They Work On A NEW Album; Band To Head Out On "The All Stars Tour"!
WINDS OF PLAGUE has officially parted ways with drummer Art Cruz due to creative differences and wish him all the very best in his future endeavors: "After many years of having Art Cruz with us we have decided its best for both parties involved to go our separate ways," states vocalist Johnny Plague. I will continue to play drums and on the business side, I am currently pursuing artist management. To keep up with what I'm doing, follow me on Twitter at twitter.com/artimusplague."
