Due to unforeseen issues concerning 7 HORNS 7 EYES internally, the band has made the decision to pull out of their tour with ANNEX THEORY this February. In spite of steps taken to try to alleviate these issues, the band will be unable to take part in the tour. However, the tour itself is not cancelled and ANNEX THEORY will press on on their own.
Comments 7H7E guitarist Aaron Smith:
"This is certainly not the outcome we had in mind when we announced our participation in this tour, and it's really a bummer to let everyone down who had made plans to come see 7H7E play and to the promoters of the shows as well. There are several factors in our decision to cancel, including unforeseen financial strain, and it was not a decision we made quickly or lightly, but it's definitely the best decision. We fully intend and look forward to rescheduling a similar run of dates in the future (we hope with ANNEX THEORY), so that we can make it up to our Canadian fans! We will not forget!"
7H7E released their debut album, 'Throes of Absolution', on April 24, 2012 via Century Media Records in North America. The record features artwork by Travis Smith (OPETH, NEVERMORE) and a guest appearance by former NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis. To purchase 'Throes of Absolution', please head over to CM Distro or iTunes.
ANNEX THEORY's latest EP, 'Process Existence', was self-released last May. The effort was mixed and mastered by Travis Montgomery of THREAT SIGNAL and features a cover of the RUSH classic "Subdivisions."
On Saturday, May 12, 2012, the "Heritage Tour" came to an end at The
Masquerade in Atlanta, Georgia. This very rocking tour, was one of the best of the year thanks to the awesome musical
display brought to thousands of fans by OPETH, MASTODON and GHOST. The
"Heritage Tour" marked the first time these three titans of progressive
and forward-thinking hard Rock and Heavy Metal hit the road together
and it sure was one for the ages.
Very soon, this coming Spring to be more specific, OPETH will return to North America! Here is a video announcement released by Roadrunner Records:

Our friends over at Metal Injection, reported yesterday that MASTODON are currently working on NEW music and what itmight sound like. Following their South American tour, the band is currently in writing mode and might hit the studio in January, it all depends on the bands touring plans for next year. This is what the bands guitarist Brent Hinds told MTV Hive about what the album might sound like:
"A lot of the stuff I’m writing is in open G-minor," he says, before explaining, "I’m playing a lot of slide guitar and just getting really Jimmy Page-y on the place and getting really eerie and Radioheadish and very spooky sounding." Right now, he thinks he has about three songs’ worth of material, "or it could be one gigantic one," he says straight-faced. "I haven’t made up my mind yet."
No matter what happens, though, Hinds says the wheels are in motion. "Those dudes are always working," he says of his bandmates. "There’s never really a shortage of music with Mastodon because all of us are working on something musically. I’m in good company. Just because they might stand in the middle of the stage or something, people might think, this is the leader, he must conduct everything, but we’re all the leaders. We spread the weight around."
Today the band posted the following Twit:
"Writing and recording a song for the new monster's inc. movie!!"
The status refers to Monsters University, the prequel to the Disney/Pixar movie Monsters Inc. scheduled for release on June 21, 2013. This means we'll definitely be hearing some NEW MASTODON next year, whither they enter the studio.
This will be the second time that the band dwells into animated features. The band made an appearance in the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie.

UK Progressive Metal band, TESSERACT, are excited to welcome Ashe O'Hara into the group as their NEW vocalist. Ashe's power, emotion, and diversity will help to continue the distinctive yet ever evolving TESSERACT sound. Hailing from Northampton originally, Ashe spent his early years singing in many different groups, from choirs to musical theatre, and has more recently worked on a number of ambient/alternative Metal projects as well as session work. Ashe currently resides in Hove, East Sussex and is eagerly awaiting the upcoming tour and working on the NEW album.
Comments Ashe: "I have always been an admirer of their work so it's pretty awesome to be passed such a challenging flame. I am very aware of the anticipation and I am certainly feeling the weight of it; but I am equally excited for what shall be an amazing and shithot experience!"
TESSERACT adds, "We realize that the vocalist search seemed like it took a long time, but we wanted to make sure that we found someone who was a perfect fit both on stage and in the studio and Ashe is just that. We very much appreciate the patience and support our fans have shown us and look forward to the next TesseracT chapter."
The first preview of that chapter, a teaser of the song, "Nocturne", can be heard here:
"Nocturne" will be available as a FREE legal download and streaming everywhere on October 12th.
"'Nocturne', is one of the most uplifting and exciting pieces of music we have created. It faithfully continues down the same vein of groovy and euphoric progressive soundscapes that we're known for. Whilst at the same time allowing for the musical evolution that is essential for any band that has a lineup change," says TESSERACT
TESSERACT also recently picked up the 'New Blood' award voted for by readers of PROG magazine at last week's first ever Progressive Music Awards in their native UK and are preparing to for a small run through the UK and Europe where you will have the chance to meet Ashe, too.

Century Media Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of Quebecois progressive Metal pioneers VOIVOD! To coincide with the band's 30th Anniversary - the band was founded in late January, 1983 - VOIVOD's own company, Iron Gang Factory, joins with global powerhouse Century Media Records to release 'Target Earth' on January 21st throughout Europe and the 22nd in North America. Comments, the band:
"Our goal has been to find a partner for Iron Gang Factory to help get new VOIVOD music to the world and Century Media, we are proud to say, is the right company to do so globally We can't wait to release, tour, and promote 'Target Earth.'"
VOIVOD's career path has endured as many shifts and disturbances as the music itself. From major label deals and big-time tours to slogging it out in clubs while metal went through growing pains in the mid 1990s; from high profile bass players to unknown substitutes, the Quebecois prog metal pioneers have persevered through thick and thin to arrive at a comfortable place in 2012 -- a place of rebirth, rejuvenation and respect.
VOIVOD's 30th anniversary celebrates their career as one of metal's most influential bands. The handful of live albums, reissues and DVDs that began to surface in the past ten years proved how beloved this band really is, and now comes another album of inspired fresh material that proves VOIVOD still have many new paths to travel. What band continues to redefine and reinvent themselves 13 studio albums and 30 years into their career? There is only one answer to that question: VOIVOD.

During Germany's legendary Heavy Metal Wacken Open Air Festival, MK Ondergrond met up with OPETH's Fredrik Akesson while he was nursing what sounded like an epic hangover! Probably due to drinking Germany's amazing beer and knocking back some Jägermeister.
Following the interview, a South African crew animated the interview. Pretty cool right? Check the interview out now!
Recently, the tri-state area Headbangers joined forces at New York City's legendary venue Irving Plaza (formerly The Fillmore) for the 2012 Summer Slaughter Tour. This years event is co-headlined by the mighty CANNIBAL CORPSE and Progressive Metallers BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME. Two bands that have a very different sound, but that have managed to open the minds of each others fans by penetrating ear drums like very few bands out there. The 2012 SUMMER SLAUGHTER tour truly represents what the state of Heavy Music is today: many different types of fans coming together to jam out to their favorite bands while learning about new bands and tendencies.

The announcement comes as the Charlotte, North Carolina band are in the midst of a North American tour, co-headlining Summer Slaughter Tour with a handful of headlining dates later this month. Between The Buried And Me follow the U.S. dates with an extensive European tour, which begins on October 1st in Reading, UK. A list of tour dates is available below.
'The Parallax II: Future Sequence' marks the quintet's most ambitious release to date and their first-full length release on Metal Blade arrives on October 9th. The 12-track, conceptual release was described by Tommy Rogers (vocals, keyboards) as: "A conceptual journey that takes the listener to worlds that seem familiar and worlds that make you scratch your head. From start to finish this is music we want to create, not music we think people want us to create. We create songs that keep us (and hopefully you) excited about Heavy Music." The first single from the release, "Telos," can be streamed below.
Between The Buried And Me have sold in excess of 400,000 records since their 2002 self-titled debut. "The group's ability to layer long, melodic arcs over squibs of dissonance has never been more surgical and soulful," said Alternative Press of the band's prequel to 'The Parallax II' (2011 EP 'The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues'). Revolver described the set as "a cohesive piece of art" and added "Between The Buried And Me are on a level of songwriting skill that few bands hope to reach..."

'The Parallax II: Future Sequence', which clocks in at approximately 72 minutes, features artwork from Charlotte, North Carolina artist and designer Chandler Owen (Underoath, Shai Hulud, and Hopesfall). The group - TOMMY ROGERS (vocals / keyboards), PAUL WAGGONER (guitar), DUSTIE WARING (guitar), BLAKE RICHARDSON (drums / percussion) DAN BRIGGS (bass) - are currently touring as direct support to Cannibal Corpse on The Summer Slaughter Tour 2012, which kicked off with a sold out show at the House of Blues in Hollywood on July 20th.
Regarding the concept of 'The Parallax II: Future Sequence', the NEW full-length album picks up where the 2011 EP, 'The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues', left off. "The two main characters of the story take on a journey through space and time with the unenviable task of having to cure the flaws of humanity by any means necessary. While the EP served mostly as an introduction to the characters, Future Sequence contains the action of the story. The lyrics are written in the stream of consciousness style, which really helps to capture the perspective and emotion of the characters. We really enjoyed the challenge of writing this record, and I think we were all pleasantly surprised with how well the music and lyrics jived with one another. I couldn't be happier with how Future Sequence turned out," comments guitarist Paul Waggoner.
Vocalist and keyboardist Tommy Rogers adds his thoughts on the musical direction of 'The Parallax II: Future Sequence'. "This album is BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME on steroids. I feel like we have created an album that perfectly mirrors the band we've been trying to create since day one. An album that has sounds that will stimulate many genres and music fans alike. A conceptual journey that takes the listener to worlds that seem familiar and worlds that make you scratch your head. From start to finish this is music we want to create, not music we think people want us to create. We create songs that keep us (and hopefully you) excited about heavy music. Keep listening… something new will be there each time. Enjoy the music… we enjoyed writing it."
