Rock N' Roll meisters MOTÖRHEAD, have announced that they will be entering the studio in January with longtime producer Cameron Webb to begin recording their next studio album for a mid-2013 release. "We'll go into the rehearsal room about a month before the album and just bang stuff out," MOTÖRHEAD mainman Lemmy Kilmister tells Billboard.com.
In a recent interview with Artisan News, MOTÖRHEAD drummer Mikkey Dee stated about the band's plans for a new CD, "We have a lot of songs done already. It's not finished. We're gonna keep writing and we'll record it next year, and it will come out next year."

Metallica has recorded a public service video as part of a law enforcement publicity blitz to try to catch a man wanted in the death of a Virginia Tech student who disappeared after leaving one of the heavy metal band's concerts.
Composite sketches of the suspect will be featured at bus shelters and on digital billboards up and down the East Coast, and a video on the Internet from lead singer James Hetfield urges people to come forward with tips and to contact police if they think they recognize the man. The FBI and Virginia State Police announced the campaign on Wednesday.
"Remember, any information — no matter how small you might think it is — could be that crucial piece investigators need to help solve the case," Hetfield says in the video, which appears on YouTube and an FBI website dedicated to the case.
Morgan Harrington, a 20-year-old aspiring teacher and Virginia Tech student, disappeared while attending an October 2009 concert in Charlottesville, Va. Her skeletal remains were discovered about three months later in a remote hay field about 10 miles from the concert venue.
Police have said Harrington became separated from friends after she left the concert early and was denied re-entry to the arena. She was last seen hitchhiking that night. Her T-shirt was found outside an apartment building near the Charlottesville auditorium, but a camera and a crystal necklace she had with her were missing.
The FBI says the suspect has also been linked through DNA to a September 2005 sexual assault in Fairfax City, Va., where a woman walking home from a grocery story reported being grabbed from behind, dragged behind a maintenance shed and attacked. Authorities this month released an enhanced composite sketch based on a description from the sexual assault victim.

"We don't know who he is so we don't know where he is," said Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.
Harrington's mother, Gil Harrington, said she and her husband, Dan, are hopeful the new publicity effort will lead to an arrest.
"Our big motivation now is to catch this man and help save the next girl because he is a predator at the top of his game," Gil Harrington said, adding, "I have urgency as time goes on as to where he's going to strike next."
The Jefferson Area Crime Stoppers is offering $100,000 for any information leading to an arrest, and Metallica has put up a $50,000 reward.
Gil Harrington said it was an "abomination" to suffer through the murder of a child, and that the band has been supportive from the outset.
"The band reacted to that right away. It was a matter of days before James Hetfield was on the phone to Dan saying, 'As a father, I am outraged,'" she said.
The FBI campaign, which also includes podcasts, social media outreach and an online photo gallery, is similar to ones that have led to the arrests of former Boston mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger, and of Aaron Thomas, who is suspected in a series of sexual assaults along the East Coast.

sold out in a matter of minutes! Heavy Metal's biggest band, will be
performing at the Sports Palace in Mexico City on August 1, 2, 4,
6, 7, and 9. Additionally, the band will be unveiling their NEW
stage: a 140x50-foot stage that features colossal components and
striking visual elements spanning Metallica's 30-year career.
METALLICA's James Hetfield is a huge music fan, and he has always given a lot of respect to MASTODON. He has even handpicked the Georgian Metallers on various METALLICA tours as support for his "small" band. During Rock In Rio (Lisbon), Hetfield was spotted inside the pit rocking out to MASTODON.
Here is a fan account sent to the folks over at MetalSucks:
"So, during Mastodon at Rock in Rio, into the snake pit comes a guy fully dressed in Metallica apparel, hoodie over the head, gloves in hands (with that heat!) and a mask. I was “ok, seen weirder stuff” and continue to Rock on. But a friend of mine grabbed me and said: "That’s James!" And it really was him. Made some eye contact with him a few times, it really were his blue eyes. Also, the way he was rocking out, full of his mannerisms.
"To add everything up, there was a security guy (not from the venue’s security) at the entrance of the pit, ALWAYS looking at him. To top it off, Jeff came in and snapped a few pictures of him. James was right behind me.
"Most of the people in the pit didn’t noticed it, but the ones around him did. Nobody made a fuss about it, we let the man Rock out, but we KNEW, and he knew we we’re on to him. In fact, he elbowed this friend of mine twice in a row, despite the fact she was not too close to him. Elbowed her once, she didn’t care, elbowed her twice, she looks back and he’s all relaxed, just watching the show… ;) He wanted us to notice him.
"A few songs later, he walks out and a venue security grabs him; the other security guy that came with him talked with him. We couldn’t hear of course, but we later went to the venue security and asked him “Hey, was that James?” and his reply? “Yeah, he is in Metallica."

On Monday night Mike Portnoy took center stage at the Metal Masters Clinic at the Best Buy Theater in New York City and demonstrated his amazing abilities as a modern Heavy Metal drummer. Today, it was announced that Portnoy will be performing with Stone Sour at the world-renowned ‘Rock In Rio’ Festival in Brazil on September 24.
Why?
The band’s regular drummer, Roy Mayorga, is currently home and anxiously awaiting the birth of his first daughter -- due the very same day as Stone Sour’s Rio show. Roy personally asked his friend Mike Portnoy to fill in for what is sure to be a special ‘once in a lifetime’ event for the fans in attendance. Said Portnoy: “It's my honor and pleasure to be able to help out my good friends in Stone Sour and my brother Roy in their time of need. It's also an unexpected treat for me to get another visit with some of the greatest fans in the world down in Brazil.”
