MEGADETH's 'Countdown To Extinction' Anniversary Edition Advertised On Times Square Billboard - Image Available!

This year, MEGADETH is celebrating 20 years since the release of their 'Countdown To Extinction' album while on a worldwide tour. The celebration of the recording of their groundbreaking album continues! Get this:
in celebration of  thecommemorative 20th-anniversary reissue edition of 'Countdown To Extinction' album being advertised on the world's largest digital display system located in New York's Times Square via the 126-foot-wide, 47-foot-tall Reuters sign can be seen here.

The 7,400-square-foot digital billboard, which soars 23 stories into the sky above Times Square, reaches more than 1.5 million people per day.

PR Newswire in 2007 entered into an agreement with TimesSquare2, a division of Reuters, to make its customers' photos and images viewable on the Reuters sign. The billboard features a regular stream of PR Newswire customer photos throughout each day. The photos are accompanied by a news-release headline, and are displayed in fifteen-second increments.

MEGADETH are currently busy touring the world. And the party will continue this November and December, as the band will be trekking all over the United States with Los Angeles rockers KYNG! Here is the complete list of tour dates:

MTV Responds To Allegations That 'Headbangers Ball' Is Being Cancelled - Statement Available!

As previously reported, Jose Mangin (Sirius XM) exclusively told us that the folks behind MTV2.com are shutting down Headbangers Ball for good. In response, MTV released the following statement to SPIN:

"MTV is committed to the 'Headbangers Ball' franchise and can confirm that it will continue as an online destination with its hub remaining on MTV2.com. The company's deal with Jose Mangin has concluded. However, MTV will continue to program a weekly playlist for fans of the genre."

Our guess is that they will have music video playlists on their online platform. Isn't that what YouTube is for?

Thankfully, Jose has announced the formation of Hard Attack TV! Hard Attack TV will take Jose's vision to a whole new level of confidence and power! While it will pick up from where HIS Headbangers Ball was left off, Hard Attack TV will offer viewers all over the world a variety of super fresh programming. What type of programming? Andrew W.K. Premieres Video For "It's Time To Party"; 'I Get Wet' 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Out Now!

California native Andrew W.K. released his video for "It's Time To Party." Currently residing in New York, NY, the party icon released his latest single off of the 'I GET WET' 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, which includes a second disc filled with alternate and live version of Andrew’s original party classics.
          
Andrew W.K. is best known for his hit single “Party Hard” back in 2001. The song was featured as the lead track in EA Sports in Madden 2003. His other songs, such as “Fun Night” and “She Is Beautiful” were featured in movies such as Old School, Freaky Friday, American Pie, Band Camp, and Out Cold. Andrew W.K. has made multiple appearances on television programs such as MTV, MTV2, VH1, Fox News, and Cartoon Network.

DOWN IV 'The Purple EP' Available For Streaming Now!

On September 18, 2012, the beast will be unleashed as "Down IV Part I - The Purple EP" (DOWN's first in a series of four EPs to be released over the next few years - with a year between EPs) will be presented to the masses! Today, the entire EP can be streamed below, thanks to Billboard.com.

Here is what Philip Anselmo said about the NEW DOWN EP during an interview with Full Metal Jackie:

"Well really it took a lot of pressure off of any and all of us. When this question comes up I refer to the first demo we did in 1992 when we all flew into Texas with this idea in our heads and we had really no idea what was going come out of it. I had no lyrics, everything was just right on the spot and I think we came out with ‘Bury Me in Smoke,’ ‘Temptation’s Wings’ and ‘Losing All,’ which would be on the first record.

"We took this approach with this record and honestly I have never in my life taken so much pressure off of myself to do a record. We didn’t know what we were thinking and the fact that it is six songs, I think that commanded all of our attention at the time and really to do a 10 or 12 song record – there’s no room at this point in my career at all for what would be called filler. I don’t want any filler, I want the songs to be direct, I want them to be unique and I think we did pretty well with this EP.
You’ve had a pretty prolific career with eight plus bands."

Wolfgang Van Halen Joins Mark Tremonti On Solo Tour - Video Available!

As previously reported, VAN HALEN's bassist Wolfgang Van Halen (son of Eddie Van Halen) has joined TREMONTI, the solo band of guitarist Mark Tremonti (ALTER BRIDGE/CREED), during the bands current tour (details below). TREMONTI is currently touring in support of his solo debut album 'All I Was'.

“I am excited to be joining the band and playing this incredible music with some of my best friends in the business," said Wolfgang in an official press statement.

It is reported that Tremonti initially wanted Van Halen to play bass on his NEW album, but the bassist's commitments to his other band kept it from happening.

Wolfgang was scheduled to be on the road with Van Halen for much of late 2012, but his father, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, recently had emergency surgery following a severe bout of diverticulitis. He is expected to make a full recovery, with the band returning to the road in 2013.
