SEPULTURA Documentary "Teaser" Featuring Philip Anselmo & Scott Ian!

As previously reported, SEPULTURA are calling all the members of the tribe, in order to help them out with the production of the official SEPS documentary. Here is a word from the band:

"We are starting Kickstarter at $100,000,00 just to cover some of the production trips, crew, equipment, rights, image releases, taxes, among others, but our ULTIMATE goal is to raise about $1,000,000.00 to cover the remainder of the production. Anticipated outlays include travel expenses for interviews with former band members and music biz luminaries, as well as all the post production costs, including killer graphics and global distribution to the broadest possible extent."

The band has just posted a teaser featuring Philip Anselmo (PANTERA, DOWN) and Scott Ian (ANTHRAX):

Click here to be part of SEPULTURA's history!

In other SEPULTURA news, it has been confirmed that SEPULTURA have hired Ross Robinson to produce their 13th studio album, the follow up to 2011's 'Kairos'. This will be the first time the band works with Robinson since 1996, which is when the bands legendary album 'Roots' was produced by Robinson.

SEPULTURA currently has 13 NEW songs in various stages of completion.

"We are in the process of writing and we have already stared working on some of the lyrics. I am also working on guitar solos and other ideas," Andreas Kisser explained.

Stay tuned for more SEPULTURA news!

Philip H. Anselmo Premieres NEW Song Out Of Upcoming Solo Record!

Philip Anselmo, the kid from PANTERA, DOWN, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, etc, has announced that his first ever solo album will be furiously unleashed on July 16 via his own Housecore Records (MRI/Megaforce). Entitled 'Walk Through Exits Only', Anselmo's NEW sonic assault will be available digitally, on CD and on vinyl. Here is a taste of what you can expect to hear. This song is called "Usurper's Bastard Rant" and it has a similar vibe to Anselmo's SUPERJOINT RITUAL. Check it out at the following link:

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/philip-h-anselmo-and-the-illegals-rage-through-usurpers-bastard-rant-song-premiere-20130513

Pre-Order your copy today! Check out our bundles and other Housecore Store exclusive/ limited time offers. Here is the link:

The album was produced by Anselmo along with Michael Thompson, and recorded at Philip's NOLA studio: Nodferatu's Lair. Anselmo's band THE ILLEGALS — guitarist Marzi Montazeri (ex-SUPERJOINT RITUAL) and drummer José Manuel Gonzales (WARBEAST) — were a big part of the musical journey that listeners will experience on 'Walk Through Exits Only'. The album's eight songs are as unstrained as it gets, from "Battalion Of Zero" to "Usurper's Bastard Rant", to the album's title track that goes against the grain and right through the exits. Brash, brutal guitars cut through punishing percussion as Anselmo screams with uncompromising ferocity and uncontainable fire.

"It wasn't about doing a paint-by-numbers Thrash or Heavy Metal record", Anselmo commented. "It's an angry album that only I could do. I don't see anybody else out there screaming about the same shit I'm screaming about. On this album, there isn't any wordplay, there isn't any hidden message, it's all right there in front of you."

Philip Anselmo Tag Teamed By Zakk Wylde & Dave Ellefson At The Golden Gods Awards!

Heavy Music history was written on Thursday, May 2 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, CA. Not only did the Revolver Golden Gods Awards welcome the elite of the music we all love, but the energy inside the sold out venue was incomparable. Here is a scoop of who won what, and who performed with who.

During the awards ceremony, former PANTERA and current DOWN frontman Philip Anselmo, was tag teamed backstage by BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's leader Zakk Wylde and MEGADETH's own Dave Ellefson. The result was a very cool interview as you will see below.

The entire event was dedicated to SLAYER's Jeff Hanneman, who passed away yesterday morning from liver failure. Details HERE!

Philip Anselmo Pens Letter To Vinnie Paul, But Is A Reconciliation Even Possible?

As previously reported, both Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown are ready to patch things up with Vinnie Paul Abbott and perhaps setup a PANTERA reunion with Zakk Wylde on guitar. From what we have been told, it wouldn't be a full fledged reunion for PANTERA but simply a tribute jam to Dimebag Darrell Abbott (Vinnie's brother).

However, Vinnie Paul has said that
"I just don't have any interest in it, man. I'm happy doing what I do, I'm enjoying being in a band where everybody really enjoys being around each other, likes each other. And I just don't have any interest in living in the past, man. I wanna move forward in my life and that's all there is to it."

Anselmo recently inked the following letter via Loudwire.

"
Well, first and foremost, I’d tell him I love him. I love the guy — as different as both of us are individually, we’re very different people. But the same can be said for all of us in Pantera. Rex [Brown] and I are very different people.

"Dimebag and everybody [were] very different people. I would let Vince Paul know that I love him very much, and I would apologize to him for his misinterpretation in not understanding where I was coming from in my lowest point in our career. And then I would definitely touch upon how much lack of communication played a big role in our breaking up. A lot of that is on my back, which I’ve completely f—in’ owned up to. But I’m not sure the rest of them have owned up to their side of things, especially Vince, when it comes to communication.

"At least in my life, I cannot hold onto grudges. It’s a waste of energy, a waste of time. And really, and I feel strongly about this, after we lost Dimebag in such a horrific way, I just cannot help but feel that Vinnie Paul’s entire healing process could have been helped a lot more had he reached out to Rex and I, and we could have healed somehow together — whether you want to call it ‘healing’ or not. But if we would have really focused together on this thing and come out of it as brothers — because we are brothers — in certain ways we could have formed an even stronger bond together. But that did not happen and I think it’s hurt us.

"Put it this way, I don’t ever expect Vince to bend or break on his stance at all, I really don’t. But if ever given the chance, man, to get straight back to your f—in’ question, I would just really give him all the apologies, I’d tell him I love him and then I would say, ‘Look, let’s get down to differences now. You’re gonna have to hear my side of it. Take it or leave it, because you can leave it – you’ve already locked it out for x amount of years. What’s the harm in hearing me out one on one, away from everybody? What’s the harm?’

"I have no anger toward Vince. No one can question a person — really he saw Darrell get shot. That’s a scarring thing for anybody. I wish it can be seen for what it is and that blame did not have to fall on anyone’s head or any circumstance. Because really it was a psychopath who had a hard-on for Pantera and it’s very well-known fact between Rex and I, between my family and myself — we all had to go through a lot of soul searching — but it could have been Rex, it could have been me, it could have been Vince. It was Darrell that was murdered and it’s just the way it happened. I could say, “I wish it would have been me’” or anything like that — I can say a million f—in’ things, man, and it still would not bring Dime back.

"So this is always gonna be a tough thing to talk about, and I really wish instead of talking about it in this interview, Vince and I can be talking about it together and just ironing this thing out. I’ll end it with this: I don’t think this is fair to the Pantera fans. I really don’t. When you’re a fan of a band, you don’t wanna hear about them fighting. You don’t want to hear about their negativity. You don’t want to read that s–t. You don’t want to f—in’ hear about that crap.

"I think it would mean a whole lot to a whole lot of people if one day Vince and I and Rex could all sit in the same room and work things out to the best of [our] abilities. I think everyone would breathe a great big sigh of relief, but the sad thing is I just don’t see it happening."

Philip Anselmo to the fans: "forget about a PANTERA reunion"

As previously reported, both Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown are ready to patch things up with Vinnie Paul Abbott and perhaps setup a PANTERA reunion with Zakk Wylde on guitar. Anselmo has answered Vinnie's comments during an interview with
Radio Metal in France. You can listen to the entire chat here. An excerpt of the interview follows (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

"Look, I've said it in the past… It's not a very hopeful thing to think about, because I would guess Vinnie Paul and I would have to sit down and talk, and right now, I don't think he wants to talk about that at all. And he definitely, sure as hell, doesn't wanna talk to me. Put it this way: my door is open always; his door is closed and locked. And until we can sort the situation out — if we can ever sort the situation out — then I would pretty much forget about a PANTERA reunion."

Vinnie Paul Reacts To Philip Anselmo's Invitation To End Their Feud In Honor Of Dimebag!

This is what Anselmo told Wikimetal Brazil about patching things up with Vinnie Paul:

"Honestly — and I've spoken with Zakk about it as well — we're very aware of the public perception out there, but honestly, until I speak with Vinnie Paul, which has not yet happened, and it doesn't look like it's going to happen, nothing can happen. Honestly, I tell you, my phone is on the hook, my e-mail is wide open, my door is wide open. I would love to talk with Vince. Honestly, if there were no more bad feelings and we could talk, and we could come to an understanding, I think it would mean not only a lot for me and myself — it would mean the world to me — but it would mean a great deal to the fans out there as well. I think people don't want to see this arguing anymore. It's time for some peace. It's time for some brotherhood. And honestly, we should be setting an example instead of being the opposite. And I'll just say that my door is wide open, and so far, Vinnie's door is closed, and it's a shame."

Recently, Envision Radio Networks' "Hangar 19" chatted with Vinnie Paul Abbott. This is what Vinnie had to say about the possibility of patching things up with Anselmo and a possible PANTERA reunion jam:

"I just don't have any interest in it, man. I'm happy doing what I do, I'm enjoying being in a band where everybody really enjoys being around each other, likes each other. And I just don't have any interest in living in the past, man. I wanna move forward in my life and that's all there is to it."

Philip Anselmo Talks About His Battles With Drug Addiction & Wants "Nothing In Return"

During a recent interview with The Examiner, Philip Anselmo discussed the song "Nothing In Return" by his band DOWN and his battles with drug addiction:

"I was coming off some really tough years in my life. I went through the death of my guitar player, I went through Hurricane Katrina, and then I guess one of the biggest personal wars, besides Dimebag dying, was drug addiction. And chronic pain. Which really goes hand in hand, if you know anybody that suffers from chronic pain and whatnot. At that point, I had come clean, and now it's 2013 and it's been eight years for me off hard drugs, so that's a great feeling. But "Nothing In Return" is about, basically, what you give, you're gonna give back. And I have been the motherfucker on stage, out-of-my-mind drunk, on drugs, broken up inside, injured, feeling very vulnerable, and for me that's an uncomfortable feeling. And I've said things over the microphone to thousands of people that I had no business fucking saying. Badmouthing other bands, badmouthing this, that, the other thing. And just coming off as a negative person, which I'm not at all. I'm very much a positive person, so when I came clean, I recognized all this, and there were some friends of mine that were still struggling at the time, and I kept really begging them, "Take the step. All you have to do is trust me, listen to me, we'll get you off drugs, and all the bad anxiety that comes with it, the sickness that comes with detoxing and all that shit, it goes away. You can have your fucking life back, man, y'know?" Basically, that's my message right there. You can have your fucking life back. Unfortunately, you can talk a blue streak, and talk is cheap when it comes to… once you've conquered something and you're trying to tell someone else about it, they're going through the tough time, it's like talking to the brick wall. They're not hearing you, really. And such is the case a lot of times, and really that's what the song's about. Failing, kinda. In my mission to straighten some people up. Because you can't win every time. You can't win every time."
