The Osbourne's Home Catches Fire & Ozzy Loses His Eyebrows

According to Blabbermouth, the Osbourne's home in Beverly Hills, California caught fire earlier this morning due to a candle that was left on overnight in its glass vase and sparked a small blaze in their living room. As a result, firefighters were called and thankfully, there were not major consequences.

Speaking about the incident on today's edition of the CBS program "The Talk", which she co-hosts, Sharon said: "Everybody is fine. There was only Ozzy, myself and the dogs in the house last night.

"At five o' clock [in the morning], I heard a noise like metal had fallen. I thought it was my housekeeper coming in and she had dropped her keys on the tiles, that's what it sounded like, so I didn't pay any attention. A few minutes later, my eyes are stinging and my throat's closing up, [I thought], 'Something's weird smelling in here.' Then my dog started to bark. I go downstairs and the whole living room [was on fire]. The candle had burst and the cracking sound was the glass and the candle exploding...

"My husband had an operation on his hand yesterday so he's in a complete cast... He comes down and goes, 'Oh, the fire, the fire!' [and tries to put it out] with his hand in the cast. Then he opens the French doors and I go into the kitchen and throw water on it and it erupted...

"Ozzy's front of his hair from (his ear down is), gone! His eyebrows (are gone)... he's got like, skinned cheeks. We are, like, two idiots, it was like The Three Stooges... Everything you are not meant to do — go to bed with candles alight, open the doors and put water on — we did it all."

She continued: "[The firemen] come up, they give us a lecture, and Ozzy's like, 'She's been doing this to me for 32 years! You tell her, you tell her, no more candles!'

"I apologize to my husband because he put himself out. He made his hand worse, it started to bleed, the whole nine yards, and I'm sorry and I love you and I will never light a candle again...

"I want to thank the firemen from Beverly Hills Fire Station because you are magnificent there and I want to say to everyone out there, please, please check your candles before you go to bed."

Tony Iommi Updates Fans On The NEW SABBATH Record & Reflects On 2012!

To say that BLACK SABBATH's Tony Iommi has had a tough year is an understatement. Opening the year, it was announced that Iommi was diagnosed with Lymphoma (a rare form of cancer). This resulted in the recording sessions for the NEW SABBATH album to be halted temporarily (the band is back at it now) and for the band to cancel their extensive European tour. Thankfully, Iommi's health has been progressing very smoothly.

Yesterday (December 21), Iommi posted the following end of the year message via his Facebook page:

“What a year! Certainly not the one I was expecting,” says Tony.

“Thanks to you all for your massive help and support; it was very encouraging.

“I’m still working on the [new Black Sabbath] album and managed to play three shows. Not bad given the news a year ago.

“I’m looking forward to next year, seeing what you think of the record and touring as much as we’re able.

“My best wishes to you all. I hope you have a great Christmas and New Year, most of all, stay positive.”

- Tony Iommi

We want to wish Tony the best wishes during this holiday season and for 2013. Keep on keeping on, brother!

Meanwhile, bassist Geezer Butler revealed how Rubin had approached the writing sessions with the band, explaining: "He sat us down, put the first album on and said 'listen to this', imagine it's 1969, you've just done that, what would you do next?"

Guitarist Tony Iommi also discussed his battle with cancer and how playing with the band at their comeback show at O2 Academy Birmingham last month (May 19) gave him a "boost". "It was great. BLACK SABBATH's Geezer Butler Comments On Bill Ward's Statement!

By know you must know that legendary drummer Bill Ward removed himself from the current BLACK SABBATH "reunion" shows, as well as the production of the NEW album due to an "unsignable" contract. The band performed their first show in seven years on Saturday with replacement drummer Tommy Cluefetos, who currently performs drums on Ozzy Osbourne’s solo material and tours.

Before they took to the stage on Saturday, bassist Geezer Butler released the following statement titled “Heavy Heart”:

"I feel sad to see the Sabbath reunion becoming a bit of a soap opera on the internet. It has been a very tough year for us as a band, having announced our reunion plans, only for Tony to be diagnosed with lymphoma, leaving us no choice but to postpone the proposed Sabbath tour, and then for Bill to go public on his site about an un-signable contract. None of us knew how Tony was going to respond to his intensive chemo therapy, and radiotherapy. Ozzy and myself flew to England to be with Tony, and on his “good” days, we’d meet at his home studio and put ideas together for the upcoming album, all sitting down together, no drummer involved, just 3 of us quietly putting together ideas. We thought that when we had enough songs together for a full band rehearsal, we’d move back to L.A and put the whole thing together with Bill. Unfortunately, to our surprise, Bill issued a statement on his site saying he’d been offered an un-signable contract. He hadn’t told any one of us he was having contractual problems, and frankly those things are worked out between our representatives, and never between the four of us let alone in public. We had the idea of keeping just one show in this year, hoping that Tony would be well enough for that show, and that things with Bill would be sorted. As you may expect, a one off show at Donnington Festival (Download) costs an absolute fortune to stage, involving over 50 people, transport, air fares, hotels, meals, agents, promotors, accountants, lawyers etc, so none of us, expected to make much money from it- it was a one off Sabbath show for the fans, before we go into recording the new album. Apparently, this wasn’t acceptable to Bill’s representatives, they wanted an amount that was so unrealistic that it seemed to have been a joke. So we resigned ourselves to doing Download without Bill, hoping he’d change his mind and at least make a guest appearance. We started rehearsals a few weeks ago with Tommy Cluefetos, the drummer who will be on the Ozzy and Friends Tour. Brilliant drummer and good bloke. It was decided we’d better do a warm up show, to break the ice since we haven’t played together live. The O2 Academy was available in Birmingham, where we were rehearsing, so we decided on that, and to make a donation to Help For Heroes Charity, since we’d be ironing out any glitches we may have. Then Bill put out a further statement saying he’d been ready to play the Birmingham show , but he was expected to have to do it “for free”- well, I think that’s basically how you raise money from gigs for charity – you play them “for free”.

"All I am saying is that there are two sides to everything. I do hope to play with Bill again some day. For whatever reason; it wasn’t meant to be this time. Bill’s made his decision, and I have to respect that. Hopefully this painful year will be worth the wait for the new Sabbath album and end in joy and happiness for all."

    Stay frosty,
    Geezer Butler

The 3,800 capacity venue served as a warm-up show in anticipation of the band's appearance at the Download Festival at Donington next month. BLACK SABBATH's first hometown performance in 13 years — and their first concert since 2005 — featured three-quarters of the legendary Heavy Metal act's original lineup — guitarist Tony Iommi, singer Ozzy Osbourne and bassist Geezer Butler. Tommy Clufetos, a member of Ozzy's solo band, is filling in for original SABBATH drummer Bill Ward, who is sitting out the group's reunion shows due to a contractual dispute with his bandmates.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you Birmingham. Best fans ever — you brought out the best in us", commented Geezer Butler. "It was a privilege playing for you tonight. Tony [Iommi, SABBATH guitarist] was a hero — you were the best medicine he has had. Proud to be a Brummie."

According to Black-Sabbath.com, last night's concert was professionally recorded and filmed.

BLACK SABBATH To Perform Intimate Show - Details Available!

As previously reported, BLACK SABBATH is scheduled to appear at the Download Festival in the UK on June 10th and at the Lollapalooza Festival here in the U.S. on August 3rd. Today, the band announced an "intimate" show in their hometown of Birmingham, England, on Saturday, May 19 at the O2 Academy. The big question that all the SABBATH have is whither or not Bill Ward will be playing drums with the band.

As of right now, the Bill Ward situation has not been resolved and the band has not announced who will be sitting behind the drum kit. This past February, Bill Ward made the following statement regarding the status of the reunion of SABBATH: "At this time, I would love nothing more than to be able to proceed with the BLACK SABBATH album and tour," stated Ward. "However, I am unable to continue unless a 'signable' contract is drawn up; a contract that reflects some dignity and respect toward me as an original member of the band."

As far as Tony Iommi's health status... Iommi is currently undergoing treatment for lymphoma (a type of cell that forms part of the immune system) and he is positive that he will kick cancer's ass! We sure hope so! The remaining members of Black Sabbath (Ozzy, Osbourne, Tony Iommy & Geezer Butler) have announced that they are currently recording the NEW album without Bill Ward and that it sounds great.
