Arriving to the U.K. this May and June, the 16-date trek, dubbed "Speaking Words", will give him a chance to spill out many of the stories he has collected during his 30-plus-year career. This past Friday, April 19, legendary UK post-punk band KILLING JOKE played the first concert out of their short North American tour at Irving Plaza in New York City. KJ's set focused mostly on their recently released singles retrospective, which features the band's 30-year career into a dual disc set. According to all who attended, the band's set was tight, aggressive, and full of fury thanks to vocalist Jaz Coleman.

The band’s follow-up to 2011′s 'FIVE SERPENT’S TEETH' was once again recorded with producer RUSS RUSSELL (NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR) at Parlour Studios in Kettering, England. The artwork for the album was painted by artist ELIRAN KANTOR (TESTAMENT, SODOM, HATEBREED).

Mainland China is one of those territories in which all media is heavily controlled by the government. The rigid censorship laws have definitely affected the growth of our music, even though there are thousands of Heavy Music fans in all of China's territories. Yesterday (February 26), CRADLE OF FILTH were forced to cancel their upcoming tour because of "The Cultural Section of the Chinese Government have
decided that COF are unsuitable to play in Mainland China", stated the band. "We are currently banned from playing there. Therefore the show on
Tue 30 April in Shang Hai, China - MAO Live House has had to be moved
to Hong Kong. The new venue is Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre (KITEC) in Hong Kong on April 30th 2013."
It has just been announced by TESTAMENT that they won't be able to perform in China and Taiwan after their Visa's were denied. A statement from the band follows:

"It is with regret that
we must inform you of the cancellation of our performances in Shanghai
and Taipei until further notice due to visa issues beyond the control of
the band or promoter. Fans in the Asian Pacific region are encouraged
to come visit us at our shows in Japan. As we had a terrific experience
performing in China and Taiwan in 2007, we eagerly await the resolution
of the visa issues and hope to visit again very soon.

A video teaser can be seen below: "It's something I've always wanted to do, and I've always been trying to figure out how can I do this, how would I ever make this possible," he recently told Decibel magazine. "I've seen [Henry] Rollins do it all these years; I saw Rollins, maybe on the first time he ever did a tour I went to see what it was going to be about. I mean, I am a huge fan of Rollins' music and I had read all his books at the time, so I really knew that he had a point of view and something he needed to express and he did it really well. It's something that I always wanted to do and I finally had the opportunity this year; doing this one-off show in London. I was approached by the band's agent, who basically put it together, and asked, 'Are you interested in doing this?' And I said, 'Absolutely. I've been kinda waiting for this to happen but I didn't know how to kick-start it.' I did the one show in London and I enjoyed myself so much, I had such a good time with it that I was like, 'Can I do more of this? How do we do more of this?' They came back and said, 'There's a lot of interest in it, do you wanna do a tour?' I was like, 'Sign me up! Let's find a window when it works and go and do it.'" Asked where he got the material from and whether it was something that he had sketched out in advance, Scott said: "No! I did absolutely zero rehearsal. I didn't even know how to prepare for it, truthfully. The show was booked months in advance, and I had all these months to think about it, and think, 'Okay, I'm going to put a whole show together… ' Because I am friends with a lot of stand-up comedians and a lot of writers, and I am a big fan of comedy and certainly live stand-up comedy. I've seen my friends do it and I think that it's the most challenging thing in the world just to sit down, write jokes, get on stage and make people laugh. I mean, I think that's the hardest thing in the entertainment industry. It doesn't get any more raw than that, and I am certainly not a joke writer nor am I a stand-up comedian, but I just feel that my life is, in so many ways, ridiculous. The last 32 years of my life spent in a metal band; I've got so many stories, whether it's shit that I've done, people that I've met, stories that I know from other people… I've kinda been in this bubble for so long. I sit around in bars with my friends and I'll get around to telling stories, as we all do, and most of my friends are in this industry or connected to it somehow, so we all have stories and we all sit down and tell stories to each other and crack each other up. I always felt that people need to hear this stuff. This shit is hilarious. It's just a really fun thing for me to do, to relate to people on that level. That's what it is. Earlier this year, NAPALM DEATH released their 14th studio album 'Utilitarian' all over the world via Century Media Records! The Birmingham, UK Metallers recently wrapped up a massive tour with MUNICIPAL WASTE, EXHUMED and VEKTOR.
The band recently posted the following holiday message for their global audience:

During the New York City stop of their recent tour, we had the chance to chat with "Barney" about the bands first U.S. tour in many years, about the state of the world today, and about their latest album! Grind it up, spark it up, and listen!
This is very cool! According to The Guardian, during the most recent U.K. census over 6,000 citizens of England and Wales claimed Heavy Metal as the "religion" they choose to follow. Wait, there is more. It was also reported that more people registered Heavy Metal than they did Satanism. Actually, only 1,893 declared that they follow the church of Satan.
But who is to blame for thousands of people choosing "Heavy Metal" as their "religion"? We can all point the finger at the great folks over at Metal Hammer! Why is that? Well, three years ago, they launched a campaign urging Metal fans to officially register their faith as Heavy Metal while filling in the census questionnaire.
Additionally, SAXON's own Biff Byford became the proposed faith's "world Metal peace ambassador".
"Like a lot of good ideas, this one came about in a pub and the response online has been overwhelming. It only reinforces the belief that Heavy Metal remains strong in its U.K. birthplace and across the globe. If the Jedi can do it, then we can too. The only requirement to join our campaign is that you listen to Heavy Metal, our commandment: everything louder than everyone else." - Alexander Milas (Metal Hammer)
Byford told Independent.co.uk in 2010 that "heavy metal is a tribal music and everyone is a member of the tribe. The audience is very, very loyal… especially the Germans. It's not like pop music, where if the next song isn't good enough then forget about it; with our music, people will allow you to be shit sometimes, and that's one of the great things."
He added, "The music's not about love. Our songs are more about Richard The Lionheart, steel trains and thunder. But when you do click with a big audience, it can be quite an experience, a massive connection… I suppose you could say it is a religious experience in a way."
Mark "Barney" Greenway can be blamed for influencing thousands of screamers worldwide. His vocal abilities have helped establish Grindcore meisters NAPALM DEATH as one of the most dangerous and technical Heavy Metal bands in Heavy Music history. "Barney" is always pushing his voice to the next limit, and with pen in hand he has written lyrics that have helped to give NAPALM DEATH a strong vision that carries an impacting message that has educated their listeners about very important subject matters. This in today's society is extremely valuable.

UK Progressive Metal band, TESSERACT, are excited to welcome Ashe O'Hara into the group as their NEW vocalist. Ashe's power, emotion, and diversity will help to continue the distinctive yet ever evolving TESSERACT sound. Hailing from Northampton originally, Ashe spent his early years singing in many different groups, from choirs to musical theatre, and has more recently worked on a number of ambient/alternative Metal projects as well as session work. Ashe currently resides in Hove, East Sussex and is eagerly awaiting the upcoming tour and working on the NEW album.
Comments Ashe: "I have always been an admirer of their work so it's pretty awesome to be passed such a challenging flame. I am very aware of the anticipation and I am certainly feeling the weight of it; but I am equally excited for what shall be an amazing and shithot experience!"
TESSERACT adds, "We realize that the vocalist search seemed like it took a long time, but we wanted to make sure that we found someone who was a perfect fit both on stage and in the studio and Ashe is just that. We very much appreciate the patience and support our fans have shown us and look forward to the next TesseracT chapter."

next year's Maryland DeathFest (scheduled to take place the weekend of May 23-26, 2013 in Baltimore, Maryland)! Now the band has announced their first Canadian appearance in 27 years as the headliners of the Noctis V Metal festival!
The even will take place over three days (September 27-29) at
the University of Calgary's MacEwan Hall Ballroom, the Distillery

Legendary Rock N' Roll band MOTÖRHEAD is chronicled in a new collectable book, "Motörhead: Live To Win", by Alan Burridge, set to be released on August 28 via Cleopatra. Here is the official book description:

"Motörhead: Live To Win" will be available in stores and at online retailers for $36.98. The book is 220 full-color glossy pages with shiny silver trim, and includes a collectible full-color bookmark. The cover features a red and silver foil logo on black leatherette.
According to South Wales Argus, Lindy Butcher (39) slipped on vomit and injured herself. The accident occurred during a WHITESNAKE concert that took place in December of 2011 in Newport, Wales, United Kingdom. Reportedly, Butcher has sued the local council because of her injuries: she claims that she suffered bruising and soreness to both of her knees, as well as muscle spasms between her ribs. This is what she had to say about the incident:
"It was horrifying, you don't expect to fall in someone's vomit."
The Newport council says they did what they could to prevent this incident:
"It would appear the presence of vomit was reported to staff by a member of the public," a letter from Newport council's legal representatives said. "One of the bar staff tried to call for a cleaner. However, it was extremely busy in the bar and cafe areas. In the absence of any detail concerning the actual whereabouts of the vomit and with so many people in the bars, it was difficult to pinpoint immediately where the vomit was located."

At the moment, MACHINE HEAD are uplifted on a musical high and there is no sign of them ever coming down! Following the release of their seventh studio album 'Unto The Locust' (available now via Roadrunner Records), the Bay Area Metallers have been very busy touring the world in support of one the best albums of 2011.
As oppose to other bands that wont perform a significant set time after having numerous albums under their belt, MACHINE HEAD have been pulling out their musical arsenal and have been including songs from most one of their killer releases.

As previously reported, Jon Lord of Deep Purple died this past July 16 at
the age
of 71. The co-founder and keyboard player with the Heavy Metal pioneers
passed away after suffering a pulmonary embolism.
Earlier this year, Lord was diagnosed as suffering from pancreatic
cancer, a normally swiftly developing and deadly form of cancer. Lord
was was surrounded by his family at the London Clinic. Jon Lord is
survived by his wife Vickie and two daughters — Amy and Sara (please
keep them in your thoughts and prayers).
According to the Darker Than Blue web site, Lord's
funeral service took place on July 31 at St. Mary's Church in Hambleden,
England. A memorial
service is planned for later in the year in London. Stay tuned for more details!

Today is a sad day in music, Jon Lord of Deep Purple has died at the age of 71. The co-founder and keyboard player with the Heavy Metal pioneers passed away today (July 16) after suffering a pulmonary embolism. Earlier this year, Lord was diagnosed as suffering from pancreatic cancer, a normally swiftly developing and deadly form of cancer. Lord was was surrounded by his family at the London Clinic. A statement from his representatives reads simply: "Jon passes from Darkness to Light". To this, the Deep Purple camp added:
"We are all deeply saddened by the news that Jon Lord has passed away today at the age of 71 after suffering a pulmonary embolism. He had been suffering from pancreatic cancer and was surrounded by his family at the London Clinic. Our most heartfelt sympathies go to his family. Jon Lord, a giant among men."

Renowned for his fusion of Rock and classical or baroque forms, he was perhaps best known for his Orchestral work 'Concerto For Group And Orchestra' first performed at Royal Albert Hall with Deep Purple and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 1969 and conducted by the renowned Malcolm Arnold. The feat was repeated in 1999 when it was again performed at the Royal Albert Hall by the London Symphony Orchestra and Deep Purple.
He also worked with Whitesnake, Paice, Ashton And Lord, The Artwoods and Flower Pot Men.
