SLIPKNOT Is Ready To Get Back On Top In 2014; Corey Taylor Is Finally Ready!

Up until now, the musical future of SLIPKNOT was very opaque. Today (May 29), we have good news regarding the future of the band! Corey Taylor is ready to rejoin the "KNOT" and to start jamming with the rest of the band. As you probably know, the rest of the band has been waiting for Taylor to get back on board the SLIPKNOT machine.

During a recent interview with the Pulse of Radio, Taylor said that the band is likely to return to the studio next year.

"I know everybody is pretty keen on getting together and seeing what happens next year, so I mean, if it takes us a year to write an album, so be it," he said. "The main goal is to just get us in the room and just see what happens, you know. If we can get past that first day, I think it'll come together. Now that we're all kind of in better places in our lives and whatnot, it's making it a little easier to be excited about it again. It's just starting to feel like it's time."

We recently chatted with 3/8th's of SLIPKNOT about the future of the band. Watch these interviews below.

SLIPKNOT's "Clown" & Chris Fehn: Bands Plans For 2014, Jeff Hanneman's Legacy & Golden Gods V!

Heavy Music history was written on Thursday, May 2 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, CA. Not only did the Revolver Golden Gods Awards welcome the elite of the music we all love, but the energy inside the sold out venue was incomparable. Here is a scoop of who won what, and who performed with whom.

Prior to the event we took over the Black Carpet and got harassed by SLIPKNOT's Shawn "Clown" Crahan (#3) and Chris Fehn (#6)! During their hostile takeover of the Horns Up Rocks microphone, the two maniacs announced the bands plans for 2014 and discussed the Golden Gods Awards. They also paid tribute to Jeff Hanneman and Chi Cheng (both men recently passed away).

The entire event was dedicated to SLAYER's Jeff Hanneman, who passed away recently from liver failure. Details HERE!

Randy Blythe Reflects On His Trial Processl & Meeting With Daniel Nosek's Family

As we all know by now, LAMB OF GOD's David Randall Blythe is a free man! More info HERE

Prior to leaving Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic, Randy met with the family of Daniel Nosek (RIP). Here is what Randy posted on his Instagram account regarding the end of his trial and meeting with Nosek's family:

"I am leaving Prague now- I hope not to return for a long while. This has nothing to do with this city, the people who live here, or the Czech Republic itself at all. This is a wonderful place, & many people have been kind to me. Not a single soul here has been rude or mean to me at all, nor done me any harm- in fact it is quite the opposite. I have grown to love this city, for it is a marvelous, magical town. I encourage everyone to come visit here, to see this lovely country. But for me it is a place of great sadness. While I am relieved that my innocence was proven & apparently I shall not be going to prison, I am in no way shape or form a happy man right now. The small inconveniences I have been through since my arrest are not noteworthy. People go through much worse daily & still keep a smile on their faces, but currently my smiles are far & few between. A young man is still dead, & his family still suffers. Please remember that fact. This family did no wrong, & have shown me great kindness- with silence, with actions, & finally with words- they spoke on my behalf to the court, & we had a private talk afterwards. All I will say about that is that they were very kind to me & displayed the utmost strength & class, & wished me a good life. They just want to get on with their lives the best they can. I wish them only the best, & will keep them in my thoughts & prayers. Please do the same- think good thoughts of them & healing thoughts for them. Trust me, they are good people, & I mean that from the bottom of my heart. They did NOTHING wrong. This picture is from Kutna Hora, at the Sedlec Ossuary. I was there yesterday- like Prague, it is an amazing place. About this city, Kafka wrote: "Prague doesn't let go...This old crone has claws. One has to yield, or else." I have found this to be true. I am yielding, I am leaving a part of myself here, I think. Some bit of me will always roam these streets at night, & that is only fitting. Now I will go home & try to see what good I can make come out the destruction that occurred here- it is the only correct thing to do. Rest in peace, Daniel Nosek."

SYSTEM OF A DOWN's Musical Future Might Include 'Greatest Hits' CD With Previously Unreleased Tracks, But No NEW Music!

Recently, Musik Universe chatted with SYSTEM OF A DOWN's front man Serj Tankian about the bands future plans. The interview took place on August 11 at this year's Heavy MTL festival at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

About writing NEW music:

The band has made it clear in recent interviews that no plans have yet been made for the group to begin work on a NEW studio album.

Future releases:

"I think we have about four or five unreleased tracks that we finished before. We need to talk about what to do with them, etc. But I would be very open to releasing, like, a greatest-hits record with a few [previously] unreleased tracks. However, we haven't really discussed it, so I don't wanna make a promise."

Solo project vs SYSTEM OF A DOWN:

"It's an interesting dynamic, I think, writing by yourself and writing with people. When you have a very focused idea, a very concrete kind of understanding of what you wanna present and have the skills and the ability to completely present it the exact way that you want to, it's much more conducive to do it yourself. If you have ideas that require other people's input to kind of make it something else than what you have, then a collaboration — whether it's with SYSTEM or anyone else for that matter — would be much smarter."

FEAR FACTORY Records NEW Album Without A Drummer? Is Gene Hoglan Still In The Band?

The mystery behind whither or not drumming legend Gene Hoglan is still part of FEAR FACTORY, and whither he recorded drums on the bands NEW album 'The Industrialist' has come to an end. Recently, a reliable source close to the FEAR FACTORY camp told us that Hoglan is no longer part of FEAR FACTORY and that he did NOT record any drums for 'The Industrialist'. He also informed us that the drums on the NEW FEAR FACTORY were all programmed.

Last month, we asked Hoglan if he recorded drums on the NEW Fear Factory album 'The Industrialist' (slated to be released in late April via Candlelight Records). We also asked him if he plans on joining legendary Thrash Metallers TESTAMENT full time, whom with he recorded their upcoming album entitled 'The Dark Roots Of Earth' (set to be released in late April/early May via Nuclear Blast Records) and played drums on most of their recent series of tours with ANTHRAX and DEATH ANGEL. Here is what he had to say at the time.

"Right now I am taking things day by day. Sometimes you really have to be careful with what you wish for."

When we recently spoke with TESTAMENT's frontman Chuck Billy, we asked him what the bands drummer situation is. Here is what he had to say about this:

"We'd like him (Gene Hoglan) to be, but I think right now we're just taking it tour by tour. We don't know yet. We just kind of unexpectedly had to do this tour before the record came out, so we haven't really thought about it yet."

GENE HOGLAN Confirms That He Won't Be Touring With FEAR FACTORY!

As previously reported, Heavy Metal drumming machine Gene Hoglan is uncertain of whither he will become a permanent drummer of TESTAMENT. Well, it seems like Hoglan is ready to join the band full time! Today, he announced that he will not be touring with FEAR FACTORY on their upcoming tour with SHADOWS FALL. And as far as we know, he did not record drums on the bands upcoming album entitled 'The Industrialist' (set to be released on June 5, 2012 via Candlelight Records). Here is what he had to say about this:

"I'm sure whomever they get on drums is gonna kick some ass, absolutely! I'd like to wish them the best on the tour, and I'm sure everyone's gonna make out just fine."

While Hoglan is still listed as the drummer for FEAR FACTORY, last month we asked him if he plans on joining legendary Thrash Metallers TESTAMENT full time, whom with he recorded their upcoming album entitled 'The Dark Roots Of Earth' (set to be released in late April/early May via Nuclear Blast Records) and played drums on most of their recent series of tours with ANTHRAX and DEATH ANGEL. Here is what he had to say about his future.

In our opinion it would make sense for him to join TESTAMENT as a full time member since he recorded their NEW album 'The Dark Roots Of Earth'. Stay tuned for more information!

Gene Hoglan Split Between FEAR FACTORY & TESTAMENT; What Does His Future Hold?

Today, Gene Hoglan is one of the most wanted drummers in Heavy Metal! In recent years, he has been busy at work with Industrial Metallers FEAR FACTORY. When guitarist Dino Cazares rejoined the band that he founded in 1982, Hoglan was called in to replace drummer Raymond Herrera. Together with Burton C. Bell (vocalist), Dino Cazares and Byron Stroud (bassist), who Hoglan's bandmate in Strapping Young Lad, they created 'Mechanized' (one of the best albums of 2010).

While Hoglan is still listed as the drummer for FEAR FACTORY, yesterday we asked him if he recorded drums on the NEW Fear Factory album 'The Industrialist' (slated to be released in late April via Candlelight Records). Here is what he had to say about his future.

Whither Gene Hoglan stays with FEAR FACTORY or rejoins TESTAMENT remains to be seen. In our opinion it would make sense for him to rejoin TESTAMENT since he recorded their NEW album 'The Dark Roots Of Earth', but we all know that any drummer would love to play with FEAR FACTORY. Needless to say, this will be a hard decision for Hoglan to make. Stay tuned for more information!
