Yesterday (May 21), Jason Newsted performed with his solo band NEWSTED at the Highline Ballroom in New York City. During the performance, Newsted was knocked out by a fan who decided it would be a good idea to hop on stage and then stage dive into the crowd. While stage diving is part of Metal shows, this stage diver ended up knocking Jason Newsted off his feet and could have caused some serious injuries on himself, on Newsted, or on other concert goers. Guys: PLEASE BE CAREFUL!
Our good friend Ryan Dwyer (pictured above) was right in front of Newsted when this incident took place, here is what he saw:
"I attended the Jason Newsted show last night in new York City at the Highline Ballroom and an incident took place during 'Whiplash'. During the solo, a fan jumped on stage to jump into the crowd but for some reason in the process, rammed Newsted into the audience where I was, and he fell on top of us and on to the floor. At first we thought Newsted wanted to crowd surf but we had no idea he was pushed since it happened so fast. Myself and the fans around me thought Jason was going to crowd surf but turns out a fan knocked him down and thought it was awesome that he did it. It looked like he was shaken up for a few seconds but the band continued on with 'Whiplash'. Jason was in high spirits again and continued playing like a badass. I caught up with Jason after the show and showed him the video. He was feeling a little sore but was still ok. He even said to me, put it on Youtube."
Upcoming NEWSTED tour dates in the United States:
May 22: The Middle East Downstairs - Cambridge, MA
May 23: The Stone Pony - Asbury Park, NJ

The Misfits' Halloween Show Postponed Due To Weather Complications!
That bitch Sandy strikes again! The annual Misfits concert in New York City has been postponed due to weather conditions. This time around the concert was scheduled to take place tonight at the Highline Ballroom in Manhattan. Yes the storm is over, but it is still nearly impossible to get from point A to point B pretty much everywhere within the tri-state area. From their inception, The Misfits have been primal. Their music is aggressive, confrontational, and dangerous with violent lyrics as seen through the eyes of a monster, coupled with timeless vocal melodies bred from '50s Rock N' Roll. Immortalizing black and white B horror films in their music, The Misfits have developed a ghoulish and totally unique persona, from their handmade musical weapons to the stiletto hairstyle they call the "devil lock". Over 30 years on, the band has endured Hardcore's heyday as Punk Rock's monster squad, a group whose cult following – a pseudo-secret coven known as the "Fiend Club" – has inspired them to continue to write, record, and tour. These "Fiends," who are still multiplying globally, go back now several generations and also include many prominent artists across the Rock genre.
Although The Misfits' lineup has shifted over the course of its career, the group has consistently released incredible, genre-defining albums, including 'Walk Among Us' (1982), 'American Psycho' (1997), and 'Famous Monsters' (1999). Most recently, in 2011 the band released 'The Devil's Rain', its first album of NEW material in over 10 years. The band toured for a good portion of the year in support of the NEW release, unleashing a fresh stage production with all NEW costumes and props.
We will let you know when The Misfits bring their trademark brand of horror punk to New York City as part of their unforgettable Halloween bash. A reschedule date will be announced soon, so stay tuned.

TREMONTI PROJECT: Mark Tremonti (CREED/ALTER BRIDGE) Talks About Wolfgang Van Halen's Involvement On Current Tour!

An Evening With Corey Taylor in New York Rock City - Highlights + EXCLUSIVE images!
Last night (December 6, 2011), vocalist/songwriter/book writer/comic Corey Taylor from Slipknot and Stone Sour, paid an intimate visit to his New York City fans in an event dubbed as "An Evening With Corey Taylor". The event took place at the Highline Ballroom and it was in commemoration of the release of Corey's New York Times Bestseller book titled "Seven Deadly Sins: Settling the Argument Between Born Bad and Damaged Good". After writing the book and voicing the audio book, Corey felt it was appropriate to present the book to his fans by having a solo tour that offers his fans a once in a lifetime opportunity to see Corey up close and personal.
The event was divided into 4 parts:
- An explanation by Taylor about his debut book "Seven Deadly Sins: Settling the Argument Between Born Bad and Damaged Good".
- A book reading by Taylor.
- A Q & A session between Taylor and his fans.
- An acoustic performance by Taylor.
"My proudest moment in music was when I wrote 'Snuff'"!
"My opinion about 'Lulu'? Nobody better talk shit about Metallica in my presence. But I will reserve my comments about it."
"I am a very lucky guy! I get to be in two amazing successful bands! I released a book! And now I am starting a film company with Clown!"
Here are some of the highlights of the night:
- Taylor made it clear that Slipknot will not be releasing a NEW album in 2012, but that Slipknot will be performing in Australia in February, and in the US in the late summer as part of one of the summer festivals.
- He performed Alice In Chains' "Down In A Hole". Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" and Nine Inch Nails' "Something I Can Never Have".
- He was joined by NYC rocker Queen V in an awesome cover of AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds"
- The crowd jumping in one leg during his acoustic version of Slipknot's "Spit It Out".
- Corey Taylor wishes everyone a Merry Xmas even though he hates it, prove of this is his X-M@$ song (which he played as an encore).
Remaining Tourdates:
- Dec. 06: World Cafe Live - Philadelphia, PA
- Dec. 07: The Met - Providence, RI
- Dec. 09: Starland Ballroom - Sayreville, NJ
