According to the New York Daily News, this passed Monday, May 13, New York Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera (who will retire after this season) was presented with a METALLICA gold record by the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio for the band's hit song "Enter Sandman". The presentation was made by Indians team president Mark Shapiro and the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame president Greg Harris. Said Rivera: "I've got a gold record, brother. Without even singing, I have a gold record. I think it was well done. Whoever thought of the idea of giving me a gold record with the song 'Sandman', it was great. I appreciate that and I know it will have a special place in my house."
"Enter Sandman" has been a staple of Yankees games for years, heralding the entrance of Rivera, who is considered to be one of the greatest relief pitchers of all time. Here is video of METALLICA's "Enter Sandman" cranking while Rivera takes the pitch:

This past Saturday, April 13, EVERY TIME I DIE were performing at the Jamboree Festival in Toledo, Ohio when gun shots were fired while they were performing. The band obviously cut their set short. Here is what the band had to say about this incident:

CHIMAIRA's vocalist Mark Hunter has announced via the following tweet, that the band is finally entering the studio to record the follow-up to 2011's 'The Age Of Hell'. The album is due later this year via EOne Music.
Late last year, Hunter chatted with Metal Insider about what fans can expect this time around from the NEW generation of CHIMAIRA. "We have twelve demos written and we've actually gone into the studio and demoed it professionally instead of just a standard computer/Pro Tools kind of thing," he said. "We're getting ready to enter the studio in February and make a new album." He added: "2011 sucked. [laughs] This year's been all about rebuilding and we got a chance to do overseas. Our first show with the new line-up was at Soundwave in Australia in front of 10,000 people. It was really nice to have to go through such a terrible year and just kind of stand on top of a mountain and go, 'Wow, OK, we got out of it, and we're here, we got a band, we sound great, and we can move forward.' So this year has been restructuring the entire business from the ground up, realigning ourselves with new teams; be it management, agent, merchandise companies, everything from the whole ground up. In my opinion, the only way to move forward was to rebuild the whole thing from the bottom up. "We want to come out with an album that not only captures the essence of what the fans have grown to know over the years, but we want to do something not only for the scene that's special, but for musicians out there, too. The musicianship in this band now is definitely on the next level. Everyone's pretty much a virtuoso at their instrument. Some of the stuff Emil [Werstler, guitar] was writing yesterday on this new song, I'm watching him play and I'm like, 'There are only going to be about a handful of people that'll able to play this!' [laughs] I'm imagining like a kid getting home, getting our new record and maybe they have the guitar, and they go sit down and try play along to it. And it's going to take them a very long time. [laughs] "We couldn't be happier moving forward. It sucks that we had to go through hell — no pun intended — to get to where we are now. But I think all of us, coming from lessons of life, lessons of bands, lessons of the industry, we've lived and learned and now we have something completely different to prove."

The 2013 Rock On The Range festival concert will take place on May 17, 18 and 19, in Columbus, Ohio. The event will take place at the Columbus Crew stadium (as usual). Last night (December 29), Cleveland's Heavy Metal beast CHIMAIRA returned to the stage for their first and only US appearance of 2012. The 13th annual Chimaira Christmas took place at Cleveland's House Of Blues.
During this awesome event, the band debuted a brand NEW song entitled "Eye Despise". You can check it out right here:
CHIMAIRA's own Mark Hunter recently chatted with Metal Insider about the follow-up to 2011's 'The Age Of Hell', which should be out in the summer of 2013 via eOne Music.

RUSH and HEART are among 8 inductees into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's Class Of 2013.
For
the first time, the public got to vote alongside the artists,
historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body. The April 18, 2013 event is set for Nokia
Theater in Los Angeles, marking the first time the ceremony will be held
in the city since 1993. HBO will tape the show for broadcast at a later date.
"The
definition of 'rock and roll' means different things to different
people, but as broad as the classifications may be, they all share a
common love of the music," stated Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Foundation.
"This year we again proudly put forth a fantastic array of groups and
artists that span the entire genre that is 'rock and roll.'"
After hearing the announcement, RUSH made the following comment:
"We are honored to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The 3 of us are especially appreciative of our loyal fans whose support and dedication has gone a long way to making this possible. P.S. And special thanks to our moms for voting 6000 times!" - Alex, Geddy, & Neil

DEEP PURPLE, RUSH and HEART are among 15 finalists for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's Class Of 2013.
For the first time, the public gets to vote alongside the artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body. From now until December 5, fans can vote on RollingStone.com
for the nominees they'd like to see inducted. The top five acts will
comprise a "fan's ballot" that will count as one of the more than 600
ballots that determine the Class Of 2013. The results will be announced
in mid-December.
The April 18, 2013 event is set for Nokia

Once again, GUNS N' ROSES' frontman Axl Rose tripped and fell down while on tour with the current version of GNR. During the band's June 16 performance at the Hellfest festival in Clisson, France, Rose had a fall on stage while attempting to jump onto a platform. Video of the incident can be seen below.
Rose previously fell on May 20 while leaving the stage after performing the final song of the band's set in Liverpool, England. Axl was apparently walking backwards and waving the crowd goodbye after the group finished playing "Paradise City" at the Echo Arena and tripped on what appeared to be either a piece of equipment or a set of steps that led from the main floor to the drum-riser floor.
As previously reported, 80s Rock legends GUNS N' ROSES were inducted into
the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame. The ceremony took place on Saturday,
April 14 in Cleveland, Ohio. As it was anticipated, singer Axl Rose
wasn't part of the induction ceremony. GREEN DAY's Billie Joe Armstrong
inducted the band into the Hall Of Fame!
To: Cleveland, Ohio, Guns N’ Roses Fans and everyone who’s shown support for my decision regarding the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
I seriously didn’t plan on or expect the overwhelmingly positive response and public support for my decision regarding the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. With such a generous outpouring of solidarity from fans, media outlets, writers and other artists, I’m truly humbled, blown away and unbelievably relieved! To be honest, I thought it would go the other way and was just hoping to weather the storm. As I said, I sincerely didn’t want to disappoint anyone. It gets old being the outlaw even if “it’s only rock and roll”.
It took a lot of focus and soul searching to be sincere and informative while making a genuine effort to be somewhat diplomatic. We made, what I feel, are real efforts to learn about the Hall and the Board, spoke as I said with the president and various members, and though I inducted Elton John and Bernie Taupin in ’94 saying something to the effect of “I’m learning what the Hall’s about…”
I still don’t exactly know or understand what the Hall is or how or why it makes money, where the money goes, who chooses the voters and why anyone or this board decides who, out of all the artists in the world that have contributed to this genre, officially “rock” enough to be in the Hall?
This isn’t an attack. These are genuine issues I don’t have enough verified information on to have more than rough ideas. Certainly not enough information to make any judgments about.
I would like to apologize to Cleveland, Ohio for not apologizing to them beforehand for not attending [the ceremony] in their city. I think they know how much I genuinely love performing there. Cleveland does in fact Rock!!
Now that the smoke’s cleared a little, any desperate, misguided attacks have been just that, a pathetic stab at gossip, some lame vindictiveness, the usual entitlement crap, he’s obsessed, crazy, volatile, a hater. I once bought a homeless woman a slice of pizza who yelled at me she wanted soup. We got her the soup. You can get your own.

As it was anticipated, singer Axl Rose wasn't part of the induction ceremony. GREEN DAY's Billie Joe Armstrong inducted the band into the Hall Of Fame!
"The first time I saw GUNS N' ROSES on MTV, I thought, 'One of these guys could end up dead or in jail,'" He raved about "Appetite For Destruction", calling it "the best debut album in the history of Rock and Roll. Every song hits hard. It takes you a trip to the seedy world of Los Angeles. The thing that set them apart from everyone else was guts. They never lost their edge for one second." Billie Joe also praised each of the GN'R members, before saying, "Let's see, who am I missing?" to a round of boos. He then referred to Rose as "one of the best frontmen to ever touch a microphone," and added, "And you're fucking crazy. Most singers in bands are, I can vouch for that."
During the ceremony, former GNR members Slash, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler, Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke performed three "Appetite For Destruction" songs with Myles Kennedy on vocals. Kennedy, who handles lead vocals in Slash's solo band and ALTER BRIDGE, sang "Mr. Brownstone", "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Paradise City", with "Use Your Illusion"-era member Sorum sitting behind the drum kit on "Brownstone" and the man he replaced in GN'R, Adler, pounding the skins for the other two songs.
"I am overwhelmed," McKagan said of the honor. He also addressed singer Axl Rose's absence during his acceptance speech, saying, "I don't know if it matters who's here tonight because it's about the music that band created."
Slash said, "We have new fans who have never seen the original lineup and they're pulling for us."
Adler quoted QUEEN's "We Are the Champions": "You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it, and I thank you all."
The highly anticipated inaugural Decibel Magazine tour kicks off in a mere eight days in Columbus, OH. It wasn't too late, however, for the venue owners to prohibit the bands from appearing at The Brewmaster's Gate. Behemoth, Watain, The Devil's Blood, and In Solitude are being forbidden from playing at the venue because of religious conflicts with the venue owners. These bands are no strangers to this type of treatment, and a NEW venue has already been confirmed. The Columbus, OH show will now be at Al Rosa. Behemoth's front man, Nergal, comments further: "Wow, big motherfuckin' WOW! We are facing a legendary moment: Amerika, the land of the free, is banning Behemoth coz of religious beliefs.
