ICED EARTH Announce Lineup Changes!
This just in: ICED EARTH have announced that they have parted ways with drummer Brent Smedley for "personal family reasons." His replacement, Raphael Saini (CHAOSWAVE), will join the group on the road starting this summer.
"I have family members that are elderly and frail and need my help here in Jacksonville. It's been one of the hardest decisions of my life but I simply cannot commit to the kind of schedule the band deserves and requires so I decided to ask permission to step down from my post." - Brent Smedley

HYPOCRISY Forced To Miss Upcoming North American Tour - Details Available!
HYPOCRISY have been forced to sit out the upcoming North American tour this May due to reasons beyond their control. The band members had received their visa approvals and everything was going as scheduled, until the embassy let them know that the earliest they could pick up their visas, get them stamped and so on, wasn't until late June at the earliest. A regular procedure that would normally take just a few days to sort, takes much longer at the moment due to that current workload Homeland Security is experiencing.
"As we were getting ready to go get our visas stamped and ready for the tour we were informed that the earliest we could go initially was sometime in July", explains guitarist/vocalist Peter Tägtgren. "We then immediately continued to call them, got the label to help with some letters, and put our lawyer to work etc. The best that got us was an appointment in late June. This is a HUGE blow to us, to our fans and everyone who has supported HYPOCRISY in North America. Sometimes there are battles you can’t win, and this is one of them. We will be back, I can promise that!"
The trek was also initially set to feature Brazilian brothers in Death KRISIUN, Belgian gore-grinders ABORTED, and technical-melodic-Death-masters ARSIS,as well as AUTUMN’S END and STARKILL on select shows. The tour will continue as previously scheduled at this time minus HYPOCRISY and ABORTED.

EPICA's Simone Simons is pregnant, band announces temporary break
Congratulations are in order for the very beautiful Simone Simons from EPICA. The band has announced that is pregnant with her first child! As a result, the band will be taking a temporary break. Here is a collective statement from the band:
"We are happy to announce that Simone is pregnant!
"Simone and longtime partner Oliver Palotai (Kamelot, Sons of Seasons) are expecting their first child around the end of summer. To ensure the best possible pregnancy and considering Simone's and the babies health, we have decided to stop our live activities from the 1st of July. This means Epica will not play this years Masters of Rock festival in the Czech Republic.
"However this does not mean Epica won't do anything!
Our Retrospect live-DVD will be released upcoming fall. Furthermore, during the second half of 2013 Epica will start working on a brand new record which will be released in 2014.
"We are looking forward to see you all at the remaining shows this year and will be back next year with a new CD, stronger than ever!"
In other EPICA news, last month the band celebrated their 10th anniversary with a special performance entitled “Retrospect” which took place in the Klokgebouw in Eindhoven, in their home country the Netherlands.
“Retrospect” is Epica’s most ambitious project to date, and it featured a 70-piece symphonic orchestra and choir, international guests and lots of special effects.

Recently CARCASS announced that their NEW album 'Surgical Steel', the bands first studio album in 17 years, is being mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ACCEPT, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY), after Colin Richardson (FEAR FACTORY, MACHINE HEAD, NAPALM DEATH, SLIPKNOT, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE) quit the project two weeks into the mixing process because he was "burned out".
Yesterday (March 26), CARCASS performed their first show with their NEW lineup in London, England. During the performance, the bands bassist Jeff Walker took over the microphone and claimed that Colin Richardson (pictured above) quit to mix the NEW TRIVIUM album! CARCASS Offer Fans A NEW Album Update For 'Surgical Steel'!
Recently CARCASS announced that their next sonic assault will be called 'Surgical Steel' and should see the light of day later this year via an as-yet-undetermined record label. 'Surgical Steel' will be the bands first studio album in 17 years.
The band has announced that Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ACCEPT, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY) will mix their highly anticipated comeback album, after Colin Richardson (FEAR FACTORY, MACHINE HEAD, NAPALM DEATH, SLIPKNOT, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE) quit the project two weeks into the mixing process because he was "burned out".
CARCASS bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker had this to say about Richardson's decision to quit mixing 'Surgical Steel': "He quit yesterday. He was two weeks into mixing the album and he decided that he didn't want to continue. So Andy Sneap is taking over. [Colin's] produced the album. It's just that he's hit a brick wall with the mix and doesn't want to continue. And so we're bringing in Andy Sneap to do the mix now. It's a shame, but we finished recording the album three months ago. There are a lot of reasons for it, but the main reason is that he says he is burnt out. I guess it will be a positive thing to bring in some fresh ears."
The band’s first studio outing since 1996′s 'Swansong' will be the first to feature NEW drummer Dan Wilding (ABORTED, TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED) and also features guest vocals from original sticksman Ken Owen.
Here are the songs that the band record:
* The Master Butcher’s Apron
* The Granulating Dark Satanic Mills
* A Congealed Clot Of Blood
* A Wraith In The Apparatus
* 316l Grade Surgical Steel
* Cadaver Pouch Conveyor System
* Captive Bolt Pistol
* Intensive Battery Brooding
* None Compliance To Astm F899-12 Standard
* Mount Of Execution
* 1985/Thrasher’s Abattoir
* Unfit For Human Consumption
* Zochrot
* Livestock Marketplace
Guitarist Michael Amott and drummer Daniel Erlandsson, who have been touring with CARCASS since the band’s reunion was announced in 2007, are no longer involved with the group due to scheduling conflicts with their main band, ARCH ENEMY. “For live, we’ll obviously add another guitarist — we have someone in mind but we are not interested in a ‘name’ player,” Walker told Decibel magazine in December.
