PANTERA and their devoted fanatics, have been celebrating all year long the 20th anniversary of the bands groundbreaking record 'Vulgar Display Of Power'. In order to put the cherry on top of this celebration, Rhino has announced the first-ever vinyl release of the band's "Walk" EP. PANTERA'S Final 3 Albums To Be Printed On Vinyl - Details Available!
Earlier this year, Rhino unveiled the 20th Anniversary Edition of Pantera’s 'Vulgar Display of Power', which featured the debut of the incendiary lost track "Piss." Following up on Vulgar’s success, Rhino continues to honor Pantera’s legacy as one of Metal’s most influential bands by offering the Texas quartet’s final three releases on 180-gram vinyl.
Presented in gatefold jackets, 'THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL', 'OFFICIAL LIVE: 101 PROOF' and 'REINVENTING THE STEEL' will be available July 24 from retail outlets, including www.pantera.com and www.rhino.com. The first two albums are double LPs and available for a suggested price of $24.98 each, while STEEL will be issued as a single LP for $17.98.
This vinyl release of TRENDKILL is different from an earlier version that was issued as a single LP without the track "Suicide Note Pt. I." To include the song for this NEW release and ensure ultimate sound quality, Rhino expanded the album to a double LP.
Recorded over four years (1996-2000), these two studio albums and live collection represent the final three releases from Pantera, singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, bassist Rex Brown and drummer Vinnie Paul.
The follow-up to the classic 'Far Beyond Driven', 'THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL' is the group’s fourth platinum album, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard charts. It yielded three singles, "Drag The Waters," "Suicide Note Pt. I" and "Floods," the latter an epic track that features one of Dimebag’s defining guitar solos.
The following year, the band returned with its first live album, the gold-certified 'OFFICIAL LIVE: 101 PROOF'. Recorded during the tour for Trendkill, the collection captures the group at the peak of its live prowess as it grinds and grooves through many of its greatest songs, like "Walk," "Cowboys From Hell" and "Cemetery Gates," as well as "Dom/Hollow," which combines the tracks "Domination" and "Hollow." Along with the live recordings, the release also includes two studio recordings, "Where You Come From" and "I Can’t Hide."
The group’s final studio album, 'REINVENTING THE STEEL' was certified gold, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard charts. Along with the singles "Revolution Is My Name" and "I’ll Cast A Shadow," the album’s other standout tracks include "Death Rattle" and "Goddamn Electric," which features a guest guitar solo by Slayer’s Kerry King.

KISS: NEW Lyric Video For NEW Song "Hell Or Hallelujah" Streaming Now!
KISS nation, today you get to listen to a NEW song entitled "Hell Or Hallelujah" via a lyric video! The NEW single from Heavy Music legends KISS is part of the band's 20th studio album entitled 'Monster' (set to be released in October through Universal Music Enterprises). KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley calls the track, "a battle cry that encapsulates the entire record... one way or another, we're going to do it our way".
Described in a press release as a "12-track, straight-ahead rock 'n' roll album", 'Monster' features collaborations among all four members — including co-founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons and longtime members guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer — in an album that shows the band at the top of its game. And that's saying something, considering their illustrious, 40-plus year history — 28 U.S. gold albums, the most gold records for any American Rock band, 40 million sales in the U.S., and a total exceeding 100 million worldwide.
'Monster' is the group's first studio album since the band's 2009 smash success, 'Sonic Boom', and was also produced by Paul Stanley with Greg Collins at Conway Studios in Hollywood, California, and The Nook in Studio City, California.
In other KISS news, according to Gene Simmons, the 35th anniversary edition ‘Destroyer’ reissue will be released very soon. He says that it will be “coming out shortly, this summer.”
36 years after the release of ‘Destroyer,’ it’s easy to understand why Simmons considers the album “a very pivotal record for us.” It marked an important point in “Kisstory,” with the band learning a new process of making music. Producer Bob Ezrin wanted to take the band back to their roots and have them really focus on the formatics of being a band, telling them “we’re going to learn how to tune our guitars and talk about song structure.”
As Simmons told Ultimate Classic Rock, it was a different path than the one they had taken on their first three studio albums. “When we first started out, you know, we basically dove into the deep end of the pool and [said] ‘let’s see if we can swim?’ And then once you stay in the water long enough, you want to start to get some style and do the breaststroke and the backstroke and all of that stuff, because you become a better swimmer. It’s not just enough to not sink. So the sink or swim thing became ‘hey, let’s be really good swimmers.’”

HIGH ON FIRE Forced To Cancel Their Mayhem Fest Appearance - Statement Available!
This just in: Californian Metallers HIGH ON FIRE announced today that they have been forced to cancel their appearance at this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. The reason? Frontman and guitarist Matt Pike is entering rehab for alcoholism. The award-winning power trio (also featuring drummer Des Kensel and bassist Jeff Matz) will put its scheduled touring plans on hold indefinitely as Pike takes the necessary steps towards regaining his health. Here is a statement from the band:
"HIGH ON FIRE would like to thank everyone involved with the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival for the opportunity to be a part of this year's tour," said the band in a statement. "We regretfully will have to bow out as our friend and bandmate begins his recovery, but very much appreciate having been asked to be a part of this summer's festival run."
In other High On Fire news, it was announced earlier this week that the band will be releasing a reissue of the bands classic first recording 'The Art Of Self Defense'. The landmark long player has been completely remastered and enhanced by Brad Boatright (Sleep, Noothgrush, OFF! etc.) and includes the addition of the band’s first ever demo, two bonus 7” tracks as well as a 48-page booklet!
'The Art of Self Defense' Track Listing:
01. Baghdad
02. 10,000 Years
03. Blood From Zion
04. Last
05. Fireface
06. Master of Fists
Bonus 7” Tracks (2001):

HIGH ON FIRE To Reissue 'The Art Of Self Defense' Via Southern Lord Recordings!
Adding to their ever-growing catalog of sonic enormity, Southern Lord Recordings today is extremely pleased to announce the reissue of 'The Art Of Self Defense', the classic first recording from Oakland power trio HIGH ON FIRE. Set for release on July 31, the landmark long player has been completely remastered and enhanced by Brad Boatright (Sleep, Noothgrush, OFF! etc.) and includes the addition of the band’s first ever demo, two bonus 7” tracks as well as a 48-page booklet!
'The Art of Self Defense' Track Listing:

02. 10,000 Years
03. Blood From Zion

08. The Usurper (Celtic Frost cover)
Self-Titled Demo (1999):
09. Blood From Zion
10. 10,000 Years
11. Master of Fists
'The Art Of Self Defense' was initially released in 2000 by Man’s Ruin Records. Featuring the collective energies of guitarist/vocalist Matt Pike, drummer Des Kensel, and bassist George Rice with producer Billy Anderson, the record billows at the seams with Pike’s instantly recognizable guitar tone, first unleashed during his days with stoner Metal behemoths Sleep. An audio hail storm of piledriving riffs, booming rhythms and Pike’s gruff vocal tirades , 'The Art Of Self Defense' remains a staple in HIGH ON FIRE’s renowned catalog of audio greatness.
“Listening to HIGH ON FIRE is a repetitive, near-relentless, harmful experience, an experience enhanced by the band’s thoroughly warped sound. Most of what you will hear on a HIGH ON FIRE release sounds like a hazy, resin-coated gurgle. The guitars are distorted to the point of melting, completely phased out and always a threat to your speakers. Adding to the foggy mayhem are the deafening drums and over-driven bass, both of which are robbed of much of their treble. The drums sound distant and sun burned, the bass sounds like the whore of Babylon’s vibrator. This is the true sound of throbbing gristle.” –

As previously announced, Southern Lord Recordings will release a deluxe reissue of one the most essential albums of modern times - 'Dopesmoker' from stoner Metal icons, SLEEP. This reissue is entirely remastered from the original smoke-encrusted Ampex reels, and features an unreleased live recording of one their greatest live performances -- “Holy Mountain” from San Francisco’s I-Beam in 1994 -- as well as a brand NEW artwork by long time SLEEP artist Arik Roper, who crafted something truly special and consciousness-expanding for the album’s rebirth. Poison Idea: Southern Lord Records To Reissue Seminal Titles From Hardcore Punk Legends!
Southern Lord Recordings are proud to be officially re-releasing several incredible, seminal titles from Portland, Oregon's explosive Punk/Hardcore kings, Poison Idea in 2012!
Southern Lord will be releasing CD versions of several Poison Idea reissues that TKO Records are currently re-releasing on vinyl. All of the material is being re-mastered by Jack Control (World Burns to Death) and each release includes new, extensive liner notes as well as never before seen photos and previously unreleased bonus material.
This Poison Idea reissue series kicks off January 31st, with the re-release of 'Darby Crash Rides Again: The Early Years'. Boasting twenty-nine tracks from the band's earliest days, the album includes the 100% previously unreleased 'Boner's Kitchen' demo from 1981, the complete 'Darby Crash Rides Again' demo from 1982, the complete uncut live-on-the-air set from the 1983 KBOO radio benefit, and outtakes from the Record Collectors Are Pretentious Assholes recording session. Much of this material has either been out-of-print or never before officially released! All the recordings have been meticulously restored and mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door Mastering. The booklet contains liner notes, old flyers and tons of previously unpublished photos from the band's beginnings. This is a complete no-brainer for Poison Idea fans or any fan of the early days of American Hardcore Punk.
Following 'Darby Crash Rides Again' in January, Southern Lord will also re-release 'The Fatal Erection Years' (Pick Your King/Record Collectors are Pretentious Assholes), 'War All The Time', 'Ian Mackaye', 'Feel The Darkness', 'We Must Burn' and 'Last Will' & Testament throughout 2012.
