Members Of EXHUMED Talk About "Summer Slaughter" & About How Progressive Metal Bands Are Too Predictable!
Recently, the tri-state area Headbangers joined forces at New York City's legendary venue Irving Plaza (formerly The Fillmore) for the 2012 Summer Slaughter Tour. This years event is co-headlined by the mighty CANNIBAL CORPSE and Progressive Metallers BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME. Two bands that have a very different sound, but that have managed to open the minds of each others fans by penetrating ear drums like very few bands out there. The 2012 SUMMER SLAUGHTER tour truly represents what the state of Heavy Music is today: many different types of fans coming together to jam out to their favorite bands while learning about new bands and tendencies.
Following EXHUMED's early set, in which they performed a bunch of NEW songs from their latest album 'All Guts All Glory' (available now via Relapse Records), we had the chance to chat with EXHUMED's own Matt Harvey and Rob Babcock at Idle Hands Bar about the 2012 SUMMER SLAUGHTER tour, how playing early during the day allows them more time at the bar and they even talk about how Progressive Metal bands are too predictable! What do you think? Use the comments section below and let us know!
Exhumed's SUMMER SLAUGHTER tour New York City Set-list:
1) All Guts, No Glory
2) As Hammer To Anvil
3) In The Name Of Gore
4) Distorted and Twisted to Form
5) Limb From Limb
6) The Matter of Splatter

Exhumed, Goatwhore & Havok = Triple ThreaT of meTal (Video Available)!
Last Wednesday (November 9th), three very dangerous bands took center stage at Club Europa in Brooklyn, NY and pummeled the audience with an extreme dose of Metal. We are talking about Exhumed, Goatwhore and Havok, of course. This tour package is definitely one of the hardest hitting North American tours in the Fall of 2012. Not only does each band possess a unique blend of ear piercing sounds, but the three bands offered a very cohesive night of razor sharp Metal for all those who dared to attend! While we were there, we conducted interviewed with members from each band, and came up with a real cool piece titled "Triple ThreaT of meTal!" that you should all watch after you read our exclusive show review!
The show at Club Europa was set on fire by Havok from Denver, Colorado. A band that has been making plenty of Thrashing noise ever since their inception in 2004. The energy that this band delivered while on stage to the headbangers of New York was lethal and they definitely brought joy to the audience thanks to their positive vibrating Metal. If you haven't checked Havok out, you must!
Next up, was the one and only Goatwhore. A band that ignites any venue up thanks to the crushing in your face Blackened Death Metal that's delivered with precision by Ben Falgoust and company. When this band steps on stage nobody is allowed to stand still, and if they do, they might be ran over by the members of the pit. There is no question that when Goatwhore comes to New York City, the most extreme Metalheads leave their basements to pay homage to one of the most crushing Heavy Metal bands today. If you missed them this time around, they will be returning in 2012 with Lock Up (click here for details)! They will also be releasing their fifth studio album on this upcoming Valentine's Day, how lovely!
Finalizing the night of neck crushing Metal was the mighty Exhumed. Ever since they surfaced in 1990, these guys have been constantly mixing the envelope of Metal with their unique flavors of Gore Metal. From the second they step on stage they are like a stick of dynamite that's ready to explode, and as a result the fans go absolutely ape shit. Their groundbreaking music is to blame for kids going home with a sore neck, a nice buzz, and definitely drenched with sweat, or maybe even some blood. Their NEW songs from "No Guts, No Glory" (available now via Relapse Records) are transmitted effortlessly live; even the faster technical parts sound pretty damn tight. If you haven't seen Exhumed live yet, do your ears and neck a favor by checking these extremists out!
Without further due, here is a video entitled "Triple ThreaT of meTal!", starring Exhumed, Goatwhore, and Havok! Watch and share!
Remaining tour-dates:

Goatwhore Launches Studio Update!
NOLA's Blackened Death Metal masters Goatwhore, are currently working on their fifth studio album (set to be released in February of 2012) at Erik Rutan's Mana Studios in Tampa, Florida. Today the band posted a studio update on Metal Blade TV, which you can watch below. The video was shot and edited by the band and is the first in a series of videos that will chronicle the recording of the new album. The band is making quick progress and drums have already been completed.
"Tracking for the new record went very smoothly with the help of excellent equipment. I played a Pearl Reference kit with Sabian AA cymbals. The drums sound like canons of doom. Every time I hear the toms I want to break something because they sound so damn good. The AA's were a perfect match in their ability to cut through the thunder of the drums. This record is going to have a giant pair of balls hanging from it." - Drummer Zack Simmons
Once again, the band is working with legendary Heavy Music producer Erik Rutan, who has also produced the band's previous two efforts, "A Haunting Curse" and "Carving Out the Eyes of God".

Ben Falgoust: 100% Heavy Metal
Born and raised in New Orleans Louisiana, Ben Falgoust (born Louis Benjamin Falgoust II) front-man of Goatwhore and Soilent Green is one of the most dedicated artists within the Heavy Metal world. He prides himself in being accessible to the fans, and always melting the kids faces while on stage. One thing that stood out for us recently, is how dedicated Ben is on and off the stage. Not only is he the front-man of Goatwhore and Soilent Green. He also works the merchandise table, and steps in to do the dirty work as a roadie. Why? Simply put, Ben does not take his career as a musician for granted and at present time, times are very hard for musicians. As a young kid, Ben discovered the passion behind Heavy Music thanks to bands like Agnostic Front, The Vandals, Kreator and Suicidal Tendencies. Being impressed at the impact this artists had on the crowd, he soon decided to start a band. After lots of trial and error, he formed Soilent Green in 1988. Soilent Green's sound is a mixture between Grind Core and Sludge Metal, which makes the band sound very original. In 1997 he decided to start another band, which he called Goatwhore. Goatwhore blends Black Metal with Thrash Metal and the results are very dangerous, definitely not for the weak hearted!
Recently, we had the chance to catch Goatwhore at Club Europa in Brooklyn and once again they proved why the NOLA music scene stands out so strong. As soon as they stepped on stage, Ben and company got the crowd moving and didn't stop doing so until they finished their furious set! And what did Ben do after he stepped off the stage? He went over to the merchandise table to greet fans and sell merchandise. Then, even though he was tired and wanted to get on the road to Goatwhore's next gig. He granted Horns Up Rocks an exclusive interview, which you will all enjoy. The message is very strong and we included some amazing live footage for your ears and eyes to bleed! Enjoy!
Here is Goatwhore's latest video for "Apocalyptic Havoc"
