On Saturday, April 20, 2013, UNLOCKING THE TRUTH unleashed a video of them jamming in the middle of Times Square in New York City entitled "Brutal Breakdown". As you can see below, the video showcases the groups ability to tear it up regardless of their young age. The video has quickly gone viral and has nearly 1 million views!

One year ago, the New York City Heavy Music scene lost a man that literally bled for the underground music scene! Steve Ventura (A.K.A. Evil Steve) was not only a devoted fan and supporter of all things related to the local music scene (he introduced us to a handful of bands), but he thankfully also captured the essence of this ever-growing scene through the lens of his camera! One thing that will always be very inspiring about Steve is how after working all types of jobs for so many years so he could help raise his children, he decided to go back to school and follow his passion of becoming a professional photographer. Unfortunately but rightfully, his plans changed after his father passed away and he took it upon himself to take care of his elderly mother who became very fragile after the death of Mr. Ventura. We will never forget how Steve jumped on board the Horns Up Rocks crazy train without expecting anything in return! He did it because he believed in us and we believed in his immense talent. We had many conversations with Steve and reassured him that we'd wait for him to be ready to jump back on board, because we respected his priorities as the wonderful son that he was. While Steve might have made some mistakes in his past, just like most of us have. He is not remembered because of the errors he committed... today he is remembered for his huge heart and perseverance. If there is one thing that everyone can learn from him, is that life is too short to waste it away! Follow your passion and don't let anyone slow you down. And if they do, just give them the middle finger!

After touring the world recently, STRIFE decided it was time to unleash a NEW batch of songs after 11 years of recording silence. Their newest album, 'Witness A Rebirth', was released on November 6th via 6131 records.
With producer Nick Jett (Terror, Rotting Out, Backtrack) at the helm, STRIFE recruited friend and previous collaborator, Iggor Cavalera (founding member of Sepultura and currently in Cavalera Conspiracy) to perform drums for the album and traveled to Brazil to record with him. Soon after, they returned to California and put the rest of the pieces into place, including guest vocals by Billy Graziadei (Biohazard) and Scott Vogel (Terror), plus a guitar solo by Marc Rizzo (Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy). The rest serves as a testament to their talent, bridging their past (especially the contemporary Hardcore sound. 'Witness A Rebirth' is at once both refreshing and evocative.
On Monday, December 3, with just 24 hours to promote the show, STRIFE took over a packed Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, New York and demonstrated why they are globally known for delivering a furious display of old school Hardcore music. Right after the bands set, we had the chance to chat with the bands frontman Rick Rodney.
During the interview we discussed 'Witness The Rebirth', the bands return to New York City, and why he decided to "escape" from the Straight Edge way of life. Before we share the interview with you, we figured we'd explain to you what being Straight Edge means.Straight Edge is basically living a clean life without drugs, drinking and casual sex. It's living a poison free and keeping yourself safe. It is a choice and it does not make you better or worse than anyone. We all make choices and some choose to be straight edge and some don't. Yes, it's true that some people will stop being sXe when they turn 21 but that is just another choice. Straight Edge is a way of life but has now been formed into a trend. Out there, there are true edgers.

Earlier this year, the seventh studio album by New England Metallers Shadows Fall entitled 'Fire From The Sky' was released via Razor & Tie records. The NEWEST Shadows Fall album was recorded at Zing Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts with producer and friend of the band Adam Dutkiewicz, guitarist for Killswitch Engage and Times Of Grace. So when KILLSWITCH ENGAGE announced their North American tour dates for the 10th anniversary tour for their groundbreaking album 'Alive Or Just Breathing', it was no surprise that they recruited SHADOWS FALL as direct support for their celebratory trek.
We were present at one of the tours last stops at Music Hall Of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY, and once again Shadows Fall proved to be one of the best bands to ever come from the New England region both on and off stage.
Prior to the bands ferocious set, we took over their bus and sat down with Brian Fair (vocalist) to discuss the relationship between SHADOWS FALL and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, and how it felt to be touring together for the first time in many years. We also discussed the bands future plans and he even broke the news to us that him and his wife Abigail (who owns Sweet Seed Textiles) are expecting their first child. We recently had the chance to speak with with the bands main song writer and guitarist Andrew Kline about the bands comeback album 'Witness A Rebirth', as well ass collaborating with some of the most talented musicians in Heavy Music. Following a successful takeover of Australia, Louisiana’s favorite Hardcore, blues-based, post-amplificated dirgesmiths, EYEHATEGOD, brought their sonic debauchery to Brooklyn, New York for two very special concerts. The shows furious show took place on Monday, November 27 and Tuesday, November 28 at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn.
Right after EYEHATEGOD stepped off the stage, we chatted with the bands guitarist Jimmy Bower, who is also the drummer of DOWN. During the conversation we discussed the present and future of EYEHATEGOD, and about the NEW DOWN EP 'Down IV: Part 1 (The Purple EP)'! We also chatted about the differences between touring with two bands that are of complete different calibers. Bower also discussed the NOLA music scene, and how bands like haarp and WARBEAST are worth for everyone to listen to.

Brooklyn, NY's ASHES WITHIN lost all of their to Hurricane Sandy. While the band could have thrown the towel, they decided to continue crushing senses. This Saturday, November 24th, they will be performing at the Knitting Factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, alongside with CAR BOMB and KASE REESE. If you like true underground Metal, you will be there!
What sets ASHES WITHIN apart? ASHES WITHIN plays brutal, honest music. They do not try to emulate a
style, or fit into any particular arcane sub-genre of the Metal scene. Their songs are crafted for maximum visceral impact, whether it be simple
or complex, harmonious or discordant. Their music is a collectively
distilled response to both personal and global events. Things aren’t
pretty out there, and they’re degenerating daily.

Sandy the bitch strikes again! Earlier today Joey Z (LIFE OF AGONY) announced that his recording studio was destroyed during the horrible storm. Here is a statement from Joey regarding the demise of Method Of Groove Studio, and how he plans to continue making awesome records!
The Bad News:
"After years of hard work that went into the development and brand, Method of Groove Studio has been completely devastated and submerged due to Hurricane Sandy. There is nothing left there. The water level inside the building was believed to be as high as 8 feet. Not only have I lost all the recording gear, I also lost all of my touring gear, dating back to the early 90’s… all of it. I was able to enter the building yesterday after water levels receded down to a couple of feet."
The Good News:
"My family is ok. My friends are ok. My home is ok. I will continue this path of producing and touring. I’ve recorded many bands in other studios before, whether it was America, Europe or Canada, and mixed them back here in NY. My mixing / mastering studio was not harmed since it is in a completely different location. I spoke with my management team, and we are confident with plans moving forward to record clients out of other studios. I have so many great friends both inside and outside the music industry, and feel blessed. I am going to leave the website up and running, and maybe alter it a bit over time. Contacting me for recording, mixing or mastering is still the same, (sans the studio telephone line). For all those who already have been helping and have sent their love and support, I thank you so much. I shot some video yesterday with hope for government, and/or insurance relief, which can be seen below."
Yesterday and part of today, the East Coast of the United States was struck by what we have dubbed as "FrankenSandy" (thanks Zulie Alvarez). While many places suffered the consequences of mother nature, the New York City metropolitan area was devoured by the strong winds and the massive amount of water those winds pushed into many parts of town. President Barack Obama has declared a federal emergency in New York City, Long Island and New Jersey.
