Listen To ANTHRAX's Cover Of BOSTON's "Smokin"!

'Anthems', Anthrax's long-awaited, eight-track EP that pays tribute to the classic songs by some of Anthrax's favorite bands from the 1970s, will be released in North America on March 19 (MRI/Megaforce), and on March 22 in Europe (Nuclear Blast). The track listing for 'Anthems' features Rush's "Anthem," Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak," "TNT" by AC/DC, Boston's "Smokin'," "Big Eyes" by Cheap Trick, Journey's "Keep on Runnin," as well as the album version and a special remix of Anthrax's "Crawl" from the band's critically-acclaimed 2011 album 'Worship Music'.

Right now, you can crank Anthrax's cover of BOSTON's song "Smokin":

The EP will be available on CD as well as digitally via iTunes and other online retailers. In addition to the cover art for 'Anthems', Benante and artist Stephen Thompson have subtly redesigned each track's original album cover art to "Anthrax" it. The 'Anthems' EP will first be housed in one of the "re-imagined" digipak covers, and then inserted inside the main CD cover sleeve. The main cover sleeve has been designed in such a way so fans will be able to see which one of the six "re-imagined" covers is inside.

'Anthems' was produced by Anthrax, Jay Ruston and the bands former guitarist Rob Caggiano, and recorded for the most part throughout 2012 literally all over the world: at Benante's home studio, in Ruston's New York studio, on the band's tour bus while on last summer's Mayhem Tour, in hotel rooms, and backstage at their Berlin show last December.

Don't forget that ANTHRAX - Belladonna/vocals, Benante/drums, Scott Ian/guitar and Frank Bello/bass - will hit the road in support 'Anthems' on February 16 with dates in India and Australia, and then return to North America to headline the Metal Alliance Tour that kicks off March 22 in California. For all of these dates, Anthrax will be joined by Shadows Fall guitarist Jon Donais.

Once again, ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante is sitting out during his bands live performances. It has been confirmed that Benante did not travel with the band due to personal issues, Jon Dette (former SLAYER drummer) is replacing Benante during ANTHRAX's Australian tour. "Charlie is dealing with personal issues right now and can't leave the country", commented Scott Ian. "He's really bummed about not being able to head down there."

Additionally, the band will not be performing with guitarist Rob Caggiano, who left the band to join VOLBEAT (More info HERE)! He was temporarily replaced by Jon Donais from SHADOWS FALL.

Benante is expected to be back with ANTHRAX during this year's Metal Alliance tour, which they will be headlining (tour dates below).

DEFTONES: Forced To Postpone New York City & Boston Shows!

Hurricane Sandy strikes again! The Deftones have been forced to postpone their New York City and Boston shows due to the current weather conditions within the East Coast region of the United States. Here is what the band posted on their Facebook page earlier today:
"Due to complications from Hurricane Sandy, tonight's show in Boston, and tomorrow in New York are POSTPONED. Hang on to your tickets, as make-up dates will be announced very shortly. More to follow soon."
As previously reported, the DEFTONES have announced that their NEW album is entitled 'Koi No Yokan' and will be released on November 13th. In anticipation of the release of their seventh studio album, the DEFTONES will be going on a nationwide headlining trek, with special guest Scars On Broadway. The tour kicks off on October 9th in Ventura, CA and will conclude on the West Coast mid November. Tickets on sale next Friday, September 7 via Ticketmaster.com. Full tour itinerary can be seen below.
DEFTONES Headline Tour (remaining tour dates):

10/29/2012 - Boston, MA - HOB Boston (postponed)
10/30/2012 - New York, NY - Terminal 5 (postponed)

Lead singer Chino Moreno told Billboard.com why the band got back to work faster than usual. "It was important that we wanted to not drag it out," he said. "We have a well-documented history of taking forever to make records. But with our last record, we did it in a really short, good amount of time, probably four or five months from the time we started writing until we finished it. For us, that was record time, so this time the idea was, 'Let's go in and start a record on this date and let's try to be finished by summertime and keep this work ethic we kind of stumbled upon on the last one,' and we did."

'Diamond Eyes' sold 62,000 copies in the US in its first week and debuted at the Number 6 position on The Billboard 200 chart. 'Diamond Eyes' was the deftones first album, since their bassist Chi Cheng had a horrific car accident on November 4, 2008. The accident left him in a comatose state. Sergio Vega recorded 'Diamond Eyes', toured with the band, and is back in the studio to record the bands seventh studio album.

Asked how the NEW DEFTONES disc sounds, Moreno told Billboard.com, "It's not a super fast or slow record. It's very dynamic. Some of my favorite things about DEFTONES are the dynamics. Yes, we're a heavy band, but we're not just in-your-face aggro the whole time, punching you in the face. There's a lot of aggression in some of the music, but there's also this very soothing element where there's a lot of soundscapes rather than attack, attack, attack the whole time. I understand that's a big part of our sound, but I really feel like we reached a peak on our dynamics on this record with those two qualities — the beauty of something and just straight, ruthless aggression."

Stay tuned for more DEFTONES news!

BLOOD FOR BLOOD Fire singer following alleged Rape scandal; Band might have to call it a day!

This past June, Boston's BLOOD FOR BLOOD was forced to cancel a couple of shows that were scheduled to take place in their hometown and in New York City due to a situation involving [vocalist] 'Buddha' (Erick Medina). But why were the "Wasted Nights" shows cancelled?

According to a source close to the band, an "accusation of rape was made against 'Buddha' about a month ago, but at this time I have no details regarding this except for he was arrested and booked for rape. I tried texting him on Monday but haven't heard back from him."

Allegedly, the incident happened at a BBQ during Memorial Day weekend where 'Buddha" got drunk (which he is famous for) and jokingly pinned a 13 year old girl against a wall and then forcefully kissing her as she struggled. This incident is being investigated by the Massachusetts Department of Children and Family.

Today, the band has announced that 'Buddha' is no longer in the band and that their future (including the completion of their seventh album, the band's first since 2004's 'Serenity') is very uncertain:

"Make no mistake, the nature of the alleged activity, true or false, is an affront to EVERYTHING this band is about. Some of the members of this band have been mistreated and abused as a children, personally. We would never, COULD never ignore, condone, or even associate with such behavior. At this time we are too emotionally drained to make plans for the band's future, but due to the nature of these allegations, we feel it is impossible to continue with anyone linked to such allegations, thus, whatever the future holds for Blood For Blood, it will not include Erick. Lastly, We are unable to make concrete plans for the band's future."

Chad Smith Surprises Fans By Joining CHICKENFOOT On Stage During Boston Show Encore - Video Available!

Drummer Chad Smith surprised and delighted fans on Wednesday night when he joined his group CHICKENFOOT at the Orpheum Theater during the Boston stop of the "Different Devil" tour. Smith, who is a member of the group and performed on both studio albums, was unable to take part in the tour because of prior commitments with The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The "Different Devil" tour is the group's first national U.S. tour since 2009.

About Chickenfoot's live show, The TAHOE DAILY TRIBUNE states, "Some bands just don't need to rehearse. The phrase 'you either have it or you don't' comes to mind, and these guys have it in droves."

The group's latest single, "Different Devil" is currently Top 20 on the Mediabase Mainstream Rock Chart and Top 5 on the Mediabase Classic Rock Chart.

CHICKENFOOT released "Chickenfoot III" late last year to much critical praise, with ROLLING STONE observing, "It's hard to hate big-boned butt rock from guys clearly making it because they still love the form." BILLBOARD says, “It’s a rare case of a group that’s equal to – or perhaps even greater than – the sum of its parts… this is an album that really wins hearts with its granite thump’n’roll.” USA TODAY proposes that  "Chickenfoot III" could be "the beginning of a riff-driven renaissance."

The band recently earned a GRAMMY nomination for the “Best Recording Package,” for the creative 3D design.

The first single, “Big Foot,” debuted at #1 on the Mediabase Classic Rock Chart holding the position for 11 weeks. "Chickenfoot III" debuted at #9 on the Billboard Top 100 and follows the band’s 2009 debut album, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 100 and was certified gold for sales over 500,000 units by the Recording Industry Association of America.

CHICKENFOOT is also partnering with Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity, for a second time to encourage fans to help alleviate some of the effects of the economy. In addition to ensuring a fair priced ticket, the band will make donations to a local food bank in each market and encourages fans to do the same.

An Overcast of Shadows Falling with Brian Fair

Brian James Fair is one of the most influential icons to ever rise from the Massachusetts Heavy Music scene. He is also considered the pioneer of the Metalcore singing style. What started as a dream after seeing Cinderella open for Bon Jovi on the "Slippery When Wet" tour became a reality from the moment he formed Overcast in 1991. Growing up, Brian always had an ear for various musical styles, but Heavy Metal and Hard Core were the genres that got his adrenaline pumping.

Once Overcast released "Expectational Dilution" in 1994, Brian's craft started getting recognized by the fans of the East Coast Heavy Music underground scene. To this day "Expectational Dilution" is considered the album that sparked the Metalcore flame. After four years of getting their name out, in November of 1998 Overcast split after a national tour with Shai Hulud and Disembodied.

At Overcast's last show, Shadows Fall recruited Brian to replace Phil Labonte (now in All That Remains) as the bands front-man. In 2000, Shadows Fall released their epic album "Of One Blood" via Century Media Records, which was the bands first record with Brian Fair on vocals. From that moment on Shadow's Fall became one of the best Heavy Music bands in the United States.

After releasing 17 records, touring the entire world, and never changing to fit in with the times. Brian Fair is a legend within the Heavy Music world. Some say that Shadow's Fall is passed their prime time, but we couldn't disagree more with this statement. With the release of "Retribution" in 2009, Shadows Fall prove that they are still on top of their game. Did you know that Jimmy Fallon is a big fan? This is why they ended up performing on the "Jimmy Fallon Show" on September of 2009.

What's next for Shadow's Fall, watch our exclusive interview with Brian Fair and find out! \m/
