LAMB OF GOD's Mark Morton: "Here's a tune I worked on with some friends the other night. Something different. Hope you enjoy."
Mark Morton from LAMB OF GOD, is arguably one of the best Heavy Metal guitarists today. His style of playing is definitely to blame for the musical evolution of the Kings of New American Metal! Since he is currently at home in Richmond, Virginia, awaiting for the return of his friend and bandmate Randy Blythe (who is currently arrested in Prague, Czech Republic), Morton got together with some buds and recorded a NEW song!Entitled "To Make Sure2", the song is available for free legal download at this location.
As previously reported, Randy Blythe was arrested Wednesday (June 27) at the Prague airport on manslaughter charges. Blythe, 41, who was represented by two lawyers in court, is accused of causing the fatal injury that occurred at LAMB OF GOD's May 24, 2010 show in Prague. The singer apparently either pushed or struck a 19-year-old fan named Daniel who had come on stage, and that person died 14 days later of bleeding in the brain. Here is the latest in Blythe's criminal investigation:
According to iDNES.cz (Czech news network), a session behind doors was held yesterday (July 16) at the Prague Municipal Court regarding the Randy Blythe criminal investigation. The good news is that the court has dismissed the prosecution's motion to deny Blythe's bail.
But yet again, the Czech authorities have thrown a dangerous curve ball at Blythe: they have doubled the money required for bail from $200K to $400 K! According to Blythe's legal team, this is equivalent to the salary that Blythe earns in two years.
So Blythe's nightmare is not over yet! As previously reported, the prosecution can still reject his bail and keep this case alive for as long as they want.
Blythe's next bail hearing is set for this Thursday (July 19), lets hope they release him from prison and that he can get back on the road with LAMB OF GOD!
Here is Randy Blythe's first interview since being arrested!

TESTAMENT's Eric Peterson Discusses 'Dark Roots On Earth' & How Gene Hoglan Is Too Busy To Commit!
In case you didn't know, TESTAMENT will be releasing a NEW album entitled 'Dark Roots of Earth' on July 27, 2012 (Europe) and July 31, 2012 (North America) via Nuclear Blast Records. The album was produced, mixed and mastered once again by the world renowned Andy Sneap (ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE, ACCEPT, EXODUS). Special bonus tracks were recorded, mixed and mastered by Juan Urteaga (CATTLE DECAPITATION, HEATHEN, VILE, SADUS) at his Trident Studios. The highly anticipated follow up to their 2008 release 'The Formation of Damnation' will be released.
Recently, the great folks over at Metal Assault conducted an interview with Eric Peterson (guitarist). During the interview, Peterson discussed the bands NEW album 'Dark Roots Of Earth' and the bands current drummer situation. A few excerpts of the interview follow:
Metal Assault: At the time of this interview, I haven't been given access to the album, so I have to ask you this. How does it compare to the previous one in terms of the overall sound?
Eric: It's in the same vein, definitely. But if I have to compare it to any records, it would be a hybrid of "The Gathering" and "The Ritual". What I mean by that is, musically it's heavy like "The Gathering". It's really riff-heavy, it's got a lot of melody to it, and it has the fast brutal stuff. Then it's also got the slow heavy stuff. But vocally, and in terms of the way the songs are arranged, it's like "The Ritual". This record is a lot more melodic than anything we've done. "The Ritual" was like an easy-listening kind of TESTAMENT record, but super melodic. We had "Return To Serenity", "Electric Crown" and some really good songwriting, but the drums were kind of … too easy, you know. There were some really good songs on there, but it lacked the heaviness of "The Gathering". So, I think with those two ideas put together, the most melodic and the heaviest side of TESTAMENT mixed all together, you have "Dark Roots Of Earth".
Metal Assault: You talked about the drumming. Do you think Gene Hoglan's return, at least for this record, helped you in that aspect?
Eric : Definitely. The songs were all written before Gene came in, and the beats were kind of were what they were already. But Gene came in and just played them better than they were anticipated. Like I said, you can have songs written and the beats all programmed or whatever, and the ideas are there, but it depends on what drummer is going to play them. Like for example, the song "Native Blood" is a catchy, melodic song, but it's got a blast beat in the chorus. So it depends on who's going to do that blast beat. It just happens to be Gene Hoglan doing it, so it's going to sound pretty authentic and pretty brutal.
Metal Assault: Now this is something pretty much all fans want to know. What's your permanent drummer situation? I know Gene's been touring with you on this run with ANTHRAX, but what's going to happen after that?
Eric: We're trying to make it such that Gene can stay with the band, and I think Gene wants to stay with TESTAMENT, but he's got other things he's doing. Just like Alex, who's doing his jazz stuff and we try to work out scheduling, and I'm also starting DRAGONLORD again. A new album is being recorded right now and it's going to come out soon. So we all have different stuff that we're trying to do, but when it comes to TESTAMENT, when we schedule stuff we all have to stick to the plan. So that's kind of what we're aiming for, to make a schedule that'll work for everybody. We do have the first tour in Europe for three weeks in August, and Gene is not going to be available for that. So that's where we kind of learned our lesson. The communication between the management wasn't spot on, and it kind of got messed up. Gene signed on for our Europe tour, but then he wasn't aware that DETHKLOK was starting earlier or later, or whatever it was. So from now on we're really trying to nip it in the bud. That's out plan, at least. Drummers in TESTAMENT have always been a curse, but they've also always been a blessing [laughs], because the records are coming out better. For me, getting to write with a Dave Lombardo or with John Tempesta or Paul Bostaph, and now me jamming with Hoglan again, it really has inspired me with the music that I've written. Once I found out that I was going to get Gene, I really honed in on everything I wrote and went, "OK, I can actually get super fast double bass here on this part." When I wrote with Paul, I was thinking of doing something here and there, but then I would think, "Oh, he doesn't like to play that kind of beat. So I won't do that." So I was kind of compromising on stuff, but with Gene, there was no compromise. I just did everything that I wanted to do.

BIOHAZARD Reveal Contest Winner For "Vengeance Is Mine" Video & Announce Summer Tour Dates!
Hardcore veterans Biohazard have chosen Travis Campbell’s video for “Vengeance Is Mine” as the grand prize winner of their music video contest. Using their Facebook page, the band challenged fans to create their own music video for a track off of their MEW album 'REBORN IN DEFIANCE'. Submissions were uploaded to Youtube, and the band unanimously agreed on Travis’ entry as the first official video for 'REBORN IN DEFIANCE'.
Vocalist / guitarist Billy Graziadei says, “Without the help of extra footage, Travis took some classic imagery from our previous videos and made it all work for Vengeance is Mine... pure awesomeness! Be on the lookout for some great things to come from him!"
The winning video consists of clips from the band’s music videos from previous years cleverly synched so they appear to be performing the NEW song, “Vengeance Is Mine”, interspersed with footage of social strife throughout history. Watch it now!
Travis explains, “I have been a Biohazard fan since the early 90s and have always been influenced by their videos and social commentary and wanted to show my respect and appreciation for a band that has helped me get through some rough times throughout the years. I started watching all the old Bio vids and got the idea of taking all the material and cutting it in a NEW way and adding in civil unrest footage from Occupy Wall Street, the Civil Rights Era, and other events like Bloody Sunday. The hardest part was getting the synch right, having Billy from 1994 singing to a phrase in 2012 proved quite challenging! STONE SOUR Enter The Studio To Record NEW Album - FREE Download Inside!
Stone Sour, the Gold-certified, Grammy-nominated Rock band, are proud to announce that they have begun recording their fourth album for longtime label Roadrunner Records. With most of the NEW record already written, the band has headed into Sound Farm Studios just outside of their native Des Moines, Iowa with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, Staind). The album is expected in the Fall of 2012, two years after the band's most recent longplayer 'Audio Secrecy', which debuted at position No. 6 on the Billboard chart and No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Rock Album chart. It scored the highest international debuts of the band’s career, including Top 5 charts in Germany, Japan and Austria, and Top 10 in the U.K. and Australia.'Audio Secrecy' also yielded the worldwide No. 1 smash single "Say You'll Haunt Me," which sat atop the Active Rock chart for eight straight weeks, and was the No.1 Mainstream Rock Song of the Year in 2010 and a top 10 Active Rock song. Stone Sour released 'Audio Secrecy' to much acclaim, including magazine cover features for Revolver and Guitar Edge along with placements in Vice, Inked, Huffington Post, SPIN and more. The band also performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! during the album cycle.
Now, they are preparing to make their much-anticipated return and the table is being set for another breakthrough performance from Stone Sour.
"This album will be another progression for the band," stated guitarist Josh Rand. "Musically, we have always challenged one another to push things to our limits, and this record is no exception." Rand also shared some details about the album's lyrical and storytelling narrative, saying, "Lyrically, the album follows one character to that complex moment in his life, when he finally has to decide which path to take. It's a spiritual and moral power play for control of what this man will be for the rest of his life. Each song will tell the story from different sides of the character's personality, with the listener ultimately deciding how the story ends."
To get fans excited for the next chapter of Stone Sour, Roadrunner will be giving away a digital copy of "The Pessimist," which appeared on the Transformers 3 soundtrack via iTunes. You can go here to grab the song.
About Stone Sour: Stone Sour's self-titled debut was certified Gold, and spawned the band's first breakthrough hit "Bother," which was spotlighted on Spider-Man soundtrack. The band next released the Gold-certified Come What(ever) May, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and spawned three radio hits: “Sillyworld,” “Made of Scars,” and the No. 1 smash hit single "Through Glass." Their third album Audio Secrecy also yielded several radio hits, namely "Say You'll Haunt Me," which was the Mainstream Rock Song of the Year in 2010.
Stay tuned for more information regarding Stone Sour's future!
