GUNS N' ROSES: Former Drummer Steven Adler Talks About Relapsing & Returning To Rehab!

As previously reported, ADLER, the band featuring former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler, have been forced to postpone their previously announced "Back From The Dead" summer tour due to Steven checking into rehab in order to continue working on his sobriety. Here is what Steven had to say about relapsing and returning to rehab:

"I picked up a bottle and drank. This occurred a few times and that is a few times too many. I knew that this had to permanently stop. That is the moment I picked up the phone, before it got out of hand, to get help.

"I had kicked hard drugs several years ago and now it is time to get rid of the urges of drinking alcohol.

"I am at a great facility and will stay here until I am comfortable to be home to work the program on my own.

"I love you all for understanding, being patient and supporting my decision.

"Like my peers, I will beat this too, so I can return to music and beat my drums!"

The band issued a statement saying: "We are truly sorry to all of the fans and promoters who were looking forward to seeing us on the road, but right now Steven's health is the most important thing. We hope to make it up to everyone when Steven recovers." The dates are being rescheduled to the fall.

VAN HALEN Cancels A Ton Of Tour Dates! Did The Band Break Up Again?

VAN HALEN have postponed 31 dates on their 2012 North American tour. The postponed shows were to run from July 7 in Uncasville, CT through Sept. 25 in Milwaukee, WI.

No official reason has been given for the postponements, and there’s no word yet on when the rescheduled dates will be announced. BUT, Rolling Stone reports that Van Halen has “abruptly postponed” 30 North American tour dates that have been on the calendar since the tour was announced back in December. The tour’s promoter, Live Nation, did not comment on the matter, but a source told Rolling Stone that Van Halen’s members are “arguing like mad” and “hate each other.” Not surprising news, exactly, but definitely disappointing for fans of huge riffs and karate kicks.

(Note that these dates have been POSTPONED, not canceled. Several shows on Van Halen’s 2007-2008 were postponed as well, and all were ultimately rescheduled.)

Ronnie Montrose: “What Made Eddie Van Halen Special Was His Youthful Irreverence For The Rules.”

Shortly before his death, the late, great Ronnie Montrose contributed to the upcoming hardcover photo book, Eddie Van Halen, by Neil Zlozower.

The Van Halen News Desk posted this exclusive blurb on the guitarist’s story of meeting Eddie Van Halen:

“The first tour I did with Van Halen, the bill was Journey, Ronnie Montrose, and Van Halen was opening. I was doing my instrumental music on that tour. Van Halen was a young, loud, and brash band, and I liked them. Eddie came up to me backstage at sound check and he called me Mr. Montrose. He shyly shook my hand and said, “Mr. Montrose, I’m Edward Van Halen, and I’m a big fan. We told Ted Templeman to get the Montrose sound when we did our record.” He also told me they used to play “Dancin’ Feet” from one of the Montrose albums at their yard parties in Pasadena.

“I really enjoyed Eddie’s playing. What made Eddie special was his youthful irreverence for the rules. That’s what impressed me. He’d developed his own style. I think Eddie started out on drums first, and there’s a very percussive nature about the way he plays. He plays very metered and percussive, and he’s very fluid in that style.”

-Ronnie Montrose

Details Revealed About The Upcoming LAMB OF GOD, DETHKLOK & GOJIRA Tour!

This summer, two of the biggest names in Metal, LAMB OF GOD and DETHKLOK, will join forces for a 34-show North American tour kicking off on August 1 in Seattle, Washington. The three-time Grammy® Award-nominated band from Richmond, VA and the world’s most brutal animated death band from Adult Swim’s "Metalocalypse" animated series will shred their way through cities throughout in the U.S. and Canada ending September 15 in San Francisco, CA.

The upcoming DETHKLOK and LAMB OF GOD with GOJIRA summer tour marks the return of LAMB OF GOD to North American stages where they will support their latest album 'Resolution', which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart when it was released earlier this year. As in tours past, Brendon Small, the co-creator and composer behind DETHKLOK, will bring the animated band to life on stage each night alongside an all-star band including the legendary Gene Hoglan, Bryan Beller and Mike Keneally. Building on the success of 'Dethklok: The Dethalbum' and 'Dethklok: The Dethalbum II' from Williams Street Records, Small is currently in the studio working on the band’s third album release scheduled for later this year. Additionally, NEW episodes from the fourth season of "Metalocalypse" currently air on Adult Swim Sundays at 12:15 a.m. (ET/PT).

Joining the co-headliners at each stop along the tour will be special guest GOJIRA, the French Metal band that will perform songs from its upcoming album release, 'L'Enfant Sauvage', which will be released in the U.S. on June 26 with Roadrunner Records. Pitchfork describes the NEW album as "breathless and awesome."
