This past Thursday, January 24), Revolver and Guitar World presented the second annual Rock & Roll Roast comedy series. The honoree: Dee Snider, lead singer of the legendary 1980s Rock band TWISTED SISTER.
Roastmaster Penn Jillette and other luminaries such as last year’s Roast honoree Zakk Wylde, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Lita Ford, WWE legend Mick Foley and That Metal Show host Eddie Trunk, plus comedy and roast veterans Jim Norton, Craig Gass, Jim Florentine and others took aim at the singer and reality-TV icon, best known for his outspoken personality, golden locks and appearances on The Celebrity Apprentice.
Additionally, Donald Trump, Alice Cooper, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Sebastian Bach, STEEL PANTHER, Playboy Playmate Brande Roderick, Gene Simmons and wrestler and FOZZY frontman Chris Jericho, contributed video roasts to the event.
The exclusive event took place at The Grove in Anaheim, California and aired live on AXS TV.A portion of all proceeds wenttowards MusiCares, a nonprofit organization of The Recording Academy that provides emergency financial assistance and addiction recovery resources to music people in need.The events roastmaster was Penn Jilette, here is his hilarious intro:
"Good evening, everyone. I'm Penn Jilette, a third-rate magician, here to roast Dee Snider, a fourth-rate musician. This motley crew — sorry, Dee, I didn't mean to mention a real Rock and Roll band — hasn't seen a television camera or a Weight Watchers meeting since they invented cellphones."
Dee Snider, like many out there, has had enough of Ted Nugent's anti government rants following President Barack Obama's gun control views. Allegedly, Ted Nugent dodged the Vietnam War draft by letting go of himself and showing up to the draft looking and smelling like a New York City bum. In an interview with Noisecreep, Snider said: “Ted’s always been a gun-toting conservative,” he said after being asked to opine on Nugent’s claim that he’s prepared to launch an armed revolt against the U.S. government over the reelection of President Barack Obama. “But what gets me is that he was actually a draft dodger! I mean, to the point where he didn’t bathe for a week, and vomited on himself to deliberately avoid the draft.” It wasn’t all criticism, though: “I totally understand why he did that,” Snider added, “but all of these Republicans who love Ted don’t seem to know or remember that too well. It’s crazy that he’s become one of the voices of conservative America even though he was a draft dodger. If you don’t believe me, Google it.” We did Google it, here are the results. Nugent lashed back at Snider on Twitter, saying he had fallen “for the big lie” and adding: “I challenge u to man up to the truth We xpected btr.” The truth is, Snider’s tale of Nugent’s draft dodging comes from Nugent himself, who relayed the story to High Times in 1977, telling them he got a 30-day notice ahead of a physical exam and launched into action. “Well, on that day I ceased cleansing my body,” Nugent said. “No more brushing my teeth, no more washing my hair, no baths, no soap, no water. Thirty days of debris build. I stopped shavin’ and I was 18, had a little scraggly beard, really looked like a hippie. I had long hair, and it started gettin’ kinky, matted up. Then two weeks before, I stopped eating any food with nutritional value. I just had chips, Pepsi, beer-stuff I never touched-buttered poop, little jars of Polish sausages, and I’d drink the syrup, I was this side of death. Death Metallers Suffocation were inducted into the Long Island Hall Of Fame this past Thursday, October 18th! This makes them the most extreme band to ever be inducted into such a legendary place. The Long Island Hall Of Fame ceremony took place at the Paramount Theater in Long Island, and it honored Long Island's rich musical history.
Today (Sunday, October 21), a massive event will take place in celebration of the bands amazing accomplishment at Ollie's Point in Amityville, New York. Joining SUFFOCATION's celebratory concert will be Black Anvil, Killjoy, Ground War, Tomorrows Victim, Thracian and Eviseration. The cost is $20 and you can score tickets HERE!

New York Death Metal veterans SUFFOCATION are currently in the finishing stages of their upcoming NEW album entitled 'Pinnacle of Bedlam'. The record was produced by the band and tracked at Full Force Studios in New York by longtime collaborator Joe Cincotta. The mixing and mastering of the album is set to be handled this time around by world renowned producer/engineer Zeuss (HATEBREED, ARSIS, SUICIDE SILENCE). 'Pinnacle of Bedlam' will feature 10 genre-defining-bone-crushing tracks and also marks the return of drummer Dave Culross, who played with the band previously on their 'Despise The Sun' EP.
Bassist Derek Boyer offered the following update:
“The recording process of our NEW album, 'Pinnacle of Bedlam', began Monday, August 13th. We brought in our gear, mic'd up the drum kit, imported tempo maps from our pre-production sessions, then dove right in! The drum tracking came out amazing! Dave Culross killed it! Once I laid down the bass tracks, the foundation of the album was built and was very solid and ready for Terrance and Guy to begin recording guitars, which they have. Thereafter, Frank began working on his vocals. The recording process is just about wrapped up, we just have some tweaking to do before we send it off to get mixed and mastered.”
"The meaning of the album title 'Pinnacle of Bedlam' is the tipping point or most elevated moment as we approach the chaotic climax of this existence,” added guitarist Terrance Hobbs. “The cosmic scale teeters and the fate of humanity hangs in the balance. People should expect nothing less than sheer brutality, as we perform together with this incredible line up! We feel this CD will be the best SUFFOCATION album ever to have been released and are confident the fans will love it."
SUFFOCATION are among the inductees for this year's class of the Long Island Music Hall Of Fame. The event will be held on October 18 at The Paramount in Huntington, New York. On September 11th, we were at OBITUARY's "Carnival Of Death" tour at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City and we noticed that a few members of SUFFOCATION were present to support their friends bands! Thankfully, we had the brilliant idea of "kidnapping" Derek Boyer (bassist) to chat with him about all things SUFFOCATION.

These above mentioned musicians will be at the Paramount on October 18th for a star-studded evening to honor Long Island's rich musical history. Dee Snider will also be in attendance to receive the Harry Chapin Award.
As previously reported, the extreme Metallers have announced that are hard at work on
their seventh studio album, which is slated for a summer release via
Nuclear Blast Records.
"We're
in the pre-production stage [and are] currently working on final
arrangements, lyrical placement and content. "Each album is an evolution
process. As always, we take the key elements that are Suffocation, add
current feelings and outside influences, then begin collaborating. We're
very happy with the direction we're headed!"

Snider will be among 18 celebrities that are part of the new season of one of NBC's highest rated show. Oderus Urungus is always on the lookout for chaotic adventures. As we all know, or should know, he is the very outspoken front man of GWAR. If you think he rattles while he is on stage, you should hear the things that come out of his mouth when he does an interview (see below). In an unprecedented move, Oderus has just been confirmed to be a featured cast member on FEARnet's first original series "Holliston".
Joining Oderus on this new adventure, will be Twisted Sister's Dee Snider as well as stars Adam Green and Joe Lynch on the offbeat multi-camera buddy comedy series created by Green. Described as The Big Bang Theory meets Evil Dead II, the show is set in the town of Holliston, Mass., and follows the lives of Adam (Green) and Joe (Lynch), two friends chasing the dream of becoming successful horror movie filmmakers while struggling to make ends meet in their post-college jobs at a Boston cable access station where they also host a late-night movie program called The Movie Crypt. Urungus will play himself and is Adam's "imaginary" friend who happens to live in a closet and gives him advice that is extremely misguided and offensive. The six-episode series is slated to begin production in September.

The very charismatic Dee Snider, frontman of Twisted Sister, was forced to leave his family to deal with Hurricane Irene due to touring obligations. This is what Dee had to say about this via his Twitter account:
"Well, this blows. Heading to airport for TWISTED show (at Rock Jam festival) in Colorado tomorrow and leaving my family to deal with hurricane. Made sure things were secure before I left, but still....
"We lived in Florida during Hurricane Andrew so I know how devastating a hurricane can be. I pray it's nothing like that, but the news are really revving up the reports of devastation!
"I wanted to cancel, but the band guilted me into playing. I won't be able to get back until Monday at the soonest. Feeling terrible."
