Riotgod - Song Premiere Of 'Firebrand'!
Decibel Magazine's "Deciblog" is streaming a NEW track from Riotgod's sophomore release 'Invisible Empire'. The song "Firebrand" can be heard exclusively at the link below. "Invisible Empire" will be released January 31st in North America on Metalville Records.
Riotgod began in spirit through the conversations of Monster Magnet's Bob Pantella and Jim Baglino while out on tour as early as 2006. While touring with Monster Magnet provided them with some great times and afforded them the opportunity to perform around the world, each communicated a desire to express their own musical ideas.
During their time off the road, the pair began exploring the possibilities of creating their own band . Bob began to lay down some ideas to get the ball rolling come 2007. Bob while recording ideas that would become many of the songs on Riotgod's first CD, also sought out musicians that would fill out the guitar and vocal slots for the then nameless band. Contacted first was Garrett Sweeny for guitar.
For the vocals, many possible names had been discussed, including some notable voices familiar via other established bands yet in the end the local NJ connection would lead to Mark Sunshine.
The band began to look for shows locally booking in NYC, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The venues would range from nationally familiar clubs such as Asbury Park's Stone Pony to a gig in a Brooklyn loft. Touring for the band would be another story. Each member still fulfilled their other musical obligations, most notably Jim and Bob being called out to tour with Monster Magnet, However challenging it may always be owing to scheduling -- touring is a given.
Riotgod did its first mini-tour in 2009, hitting the road with fellow NJ rockers The Friends of Bill Wilson. Riotgod would visit the US mid-west and Canada, playing venues such as Chicago's Double Door, Detroit's Blondies, Toronto's Bovine Sex Club as well as some lesser known colorful establishments along the way.
Riotgod is now back - with their second album. More straight, more rock, more stoner - more Riotgod.
'Invisible Empire' Track Listing:
1. Breed
2. Fool
3. Crossfade
4. Slow Death
5. Firebrand
6. Gas Station Roses
7. Tomorrow`s Today
8. Saving It Up
9. Loosily Bound

The Voice Of Iron Maiden's 'The Number Of The Beast' Ceases To Exist!
Barry Clayton, the voice behind the legendary intro of Iron Maiden's 'The Number Of The Beast' (title track of Maiden's classic 1982 album), has died at the age of 80. The legend says that during the recording sessions for this legendary Heavy Metal album, Iron Maiden wanted to have horror film actor Vincent Price record the famous intro, but according to Bruce Dickinson, Price asked for £25,000.
So how did they come across Barry Clayton? Well, the band came across a man who read ghost stories at Capital Radio and they felt that his voice was similar to the one of Vincent Price. That man was Barry Clayton.
According to the Islington Tribune, Clayton was a resident of Islington, which is in Greater London, England, for 40 years. He was a pioneer of black television and radio programming. He produced the "Black Londoners" radio program for the BBC — the first black daily radio program — from its first airing in 1974 until 1988 when he left to join Capital Radio.
Clayton's deep, booming voice will live forever in the minds of all Maiden fanatics, thanks to the intro for "The Number Of The Beast":
"Woe to You Oh Earth and Sea
For the Devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding
Reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty six."
Rest In Peace Clayton! Our hearts got out to your family, friends, and rest assured that your voice will live forever!

Chimaira Announces NEW Lineup For 2012!
Ohio metallers CHIMAIRA have released the following statement, regarding the future of the band:
"Early in July, we were informed that Rob Arnold [guitar] and Matt DeVries [guitar] would be leaving Chimaira at the end of 2011. Of course, this was a huge blow, but there were no hard feelings. We understand that life invades art, everything runs its course, and we have to take different paths. We respect their decision and wish them only the best. We made heavy metal history together and that is all that matters at the end of the day. 'Chimaira Christmas 12' will be their last show, and we've been preparing to make it one that you'll never forget.
"We are proud to announce the addition of Matt Szlachta (formerly in Dirge Within) and Jeremy Creamer (Dååth) to Chimaira. The plan was to build an undeniable string section and we have done just that. Jeremy will be pounding on the bass, and Matt shredding alongside Emil on guitar.
"As a way to say hello to the Chimaira fans, Jeremy recently remixed a couple of tracks from The Age Of Hell. Go here and download the FREE EP and listen to the Allinaline mixes. (We’d also like to thank Dubba Jonny for remixing Year Of The Snake!)
"CCXII marks the end of an era, but it’s also the start of a new chapter. We look forward to 2012. Thank you all for your overwhelming, and continuous support."
- Mark, Emil, Matt, Z, Austin, and Jeremy (Chimaira 2012)
'Chimaira Christmas 12' will take place tomorrow (December 30th) at the House Of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio.

Twenty Albums That Made 2011 Heavy, Exciting & Dangerous!
One of the most arduous tasks that we have to put up with year after year, is selecting our "best of" lists. When the calendar hits the month of December, we usually have a good idea of which albums should be on our "best of" lists. However, instead of applying the typical method that most outlets out there use, which is usually based on their first impressions. We went back and listened to over 50 albums that were released in 2011, and reanalyzed our tentative list very carefully. This took a lot of our time, but we wanted to compile what we believe are twenty albums that made 2011 heavy, exciting, and very dangerous. Here you go!

Trivium's 'Massive Royalty Check' = Sad Truth About The Music Industry!
As we all know, the state of the music industry is at an all-time low and artists are struggling more than ever. One might think that a successful band like Trivium would be OK, and not get affected by low record sales since they count with a devoted fanbase. But, as you can see below Trivium didn't catch a break from the brutal state of the music industry.
Trivium frontman Matt Heafy recently twitted:
"Dear state of the music industry, thanks a heap for this massive royalty check".

James Owen Sullivan "The Rev": Gone But NEVER Forgotten!
Today (December 28th), marks the second death anniversary of James Owen Sullivan (A.K.A. The Rev). "The Rev" co-founded Avenged Sevenfold in 1999 and quickly became one of the most respected and renowned drummers in the Heavy Music world. Unfortunately, his career was cut short when he passed away on December 28, 2009 from an acute polydrug intoxication at the young age of 28. On January 5, 2010, a private funeral was held for "The Rev", and a day later he was buried in Huntington Beach, California. Avenged Sevenfold dedicated their fifth album, 'Nightmare', to Sullivan. RIP Jimmy, we all miss you!
“His music was very challenging and dangerous, but the Rev was always just a down-to-earth guy that was very humble, with no ego. He always treated me with the ultimate respect and I always enjoyed his presence. He was great.” - Vinnie Paul (Pantera, Damageplan & Hellyeah)

The Empire Shall fall first came into being in the summer of 2008, after longtime friends Nick Sollecito and Jesse Leach got together and decided it was high time for them to form a band. Though Leach had split with Killswitch Engage several years previously and Sollecito’s roots lay mainly in the jazz and hip hop scenes, they were dead-set on bringing a balls-out modern metal band to life. After finding a temporary drummer and recruiting Jake Davenport on guitar, and practicing endlessly to truly nail down the TESF sound, the quartet began playing gigs around New England. The addition of Marc de Lisle on second guitar and Jeff Pitts on drums solidified the band’s lineup, and led to the recording of the band’s debut full-length, Awaken. Financing the entire recording as well as all merchandise, pressing, and touring costs themselves and set to release the album on Sollecito’s own Angle Side Side Records in November 2009, The Empire Shall Fall are the perfect example of a determined, ambitious, totally DIY band on a mission.
