Slayerville's STARLAND BALLROOM Closed Until Spring 2013 "Thanks" To Hurricane Sandy - Statement Available!

A MESSAGE FROM THE STARLAND BALLROOM:

The last two weeks in New Jersey have been a testament to our state’s resilience. We’ve witnessed New Jersey’s worst days, but also its greatest humanity. We’ve seen destruction, but we’ve also seen hope, hard work and determination.

Our situation at Starland is a microcosm of these scenarios -- yet one we realize is significantly less important than one’s home, family or livelihood. Hurricane Sandy devastated our electrical system and damaged our sound, lighting, heating / cooling and plumbing systems – all necessary ingredients in operating a public venue. Given the demand for these components in the regional housing and commercial sectors, we do not anticipate being able to open again until Spring 2013.

Speaking of 2013, it’s the year in which we intend to celebrate Starland Ballroom’s 10th anniversary. So we’re dedicated to taking this time to rebuild the state’s best concert venue, and make it even better. We’ll take inspiration from all of our New Jersey neighbors who are working hard to get their lives back to normal. When it’s all said and done, we’ll be here for some of the best live concert celebrations available.

You can help in this effort: Send us an email to info@starlandballroom.com with your suggestions and ideas on how to make Starland even better. We’ll read every last one of them.

Most of our shows will be canceled. A few will be moved to new locations. We'll have them listed HERE and at Starland Ballroom ASAP.

Fans holding tickets to the canceled shows will receive a full refund, including fees. If you bought tickets online or via phone, you will receive an automatic refund within 7-10 business days. If you bought your tickets from a Ticketmaster retail outlet, you may return your tickets to that exact location for your refund. Tickets purchased here at Starland can be turned in for a full refund plus service fees during new hours of operation - Thursdays and Fridays from 3-6pm and Saturdays from 11am-2pm. The Box Office will not be open on Thanksgiving. Fans holding tickets to relocated shows, but unable to attend due to the new location, are also entitled to a refund. 2012 Starland SeasonPass holders will be permitted to use their passes for shows in 2013.

We regret that any of these shows are going away, but not as much as we regret the pain, suffering and destruction experienced by our customers throughout the Garden State. Much like the spirit of New Jersey, you can't stop Rock N' Roll. And we don’t intend to.

Jersey proud, Starlanders. We’ll see you soon.

Ever since then the band has released 7 studio albums, 3 EP's, and 1 live album. At current time the band is working as a three piece, since Pepper Keenan is busy with NOLA's Superstar group Down. According to the band, the door is open for Keenan to return. However, the band opted to record a NEW self-titled album as a three-piece since they found a real intense chemistry that couldn't go to waste.

Clutch's Neil Fallon Discusses Bands Plans For 2012 & Offers Tips For Fellow Musicians!

When Clutch was ignited in 1991, they had no set agenda or a long-term plan as in what they wanted to accomplish musically. All they knew is that if they wanted to keep themselves from having to get "regular jobs", they would have to dedicate their entire lives to their music and tour, tour, tour. They also realized that in order for them to prevail, they would have to create memorable rocking songs.

It took Clutch a lot of hard work and patience to fine tune their signature sound, and it was actually a lucky mistake that changed the bands sound forever. When the band was formed, current vocalist/guitarist Neil Fallon was a backup singer. It turns out that one day the original singer didn't show up to a gig, so Neil stepped on stage and took over the front-man slot. The band immediately knew he was the missing ingredient to establish Clutch's sound.

On Friday, December 30th, Clutch performed in front of a sold-out audience at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey. Joining the Kings of Modern Rock, were Corrosion Of Conformity and Kyng. The hungry crowd of Rock N' Roll children celebrated the conclusion of the holiday season and the ringing of the new year, by grooving to the phenomenal rocking sounds that all three bands cranked up for their fans ears to indulge in.

Before Clutch's rocking set, we had the chance to chat with Clutch's front-man Neil Fallon. During the interview we discussed the bands plans for 2012 and we even touched upon his musical career. Fallon even shared some useful tips for fellow musicians. Sit back, grab a cold one, and crank it up!

Clutch, C.O.C. & Kyng Perform To Sold-out Crowd In Slayerville, New Jersey!

This past Friday, December 30th, Clutch performed in front of a sold-out audience at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey.

Kicking off the night of Rock N' Roll was Los Angeles' Kyng, a band that we have been watching carefully and that are heading towards the right musical path. It was refreshing to see them perform on a big stage and even though they had to win the crowd over, they never showed an inch of discomfort or shyness. The Kyng boys are ready for an active 2012.

Right after the crowd quenched their thirsts with alcoholic beverages (for the most part), Raleigh, North Carolina's C.O.C. took center stage and presented the masses with a mix of old school songs, along with a few NEW songs taken from their self-titled full-length album (set for North American release on February 28, 2012 via Candlelight Records). Even though the bands vocalist/bassist Mike Dean was fighting a soar throat, they managed to perform a pretty damn good sounding set.

Ending the night of rocking was Maryland's own Clutch, who time and time again prove why they are one of the best bands in Rock N' Roll today. While their original blend of music sounds great on record, their live performances is what makes this band shine uncontrollably. In our opinion, Clutch is one of the few bands out there that still posses a signature sound that grabs your ears attention and soothes all of your senses.

In 2011 we covered numerous shows that will forever live in our minds, and we knew we had to end the year with a bang. Thanks to Clutch, C.O.C. and Kyng, we were able to finish an amazing year of music via a phenomenal show. We hope that this tour is setup again in the near future. For now, check all this three bands out!

Anthrax, Testament & Death Angel Deliver The Purest Of Metal To Sold-out Crowd!

This past Saturday (November 13th), Anthrax, Testament, and Death Angel took over The Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey. The sold out show was a serious headbanging inferno from start to finish, thanks to all the bands furious display of pure Thrash Metal. The results: Two days later our necks are still sore and our ears are ringing to the chaotic sounds of all three bands.

Opening the show with a hard-hitting stomp, were California thrasers Death Angel. A band that has faced a lot of obstacles, but that in the last few years have been picking up a lot of momentum. Everyone reading this needs to keep an eye on them because they are on the rise once again and wont be done anytime soon. Our only complain is that as per usual the opening band, in this case Death Angel, only gets a 30 minute set. But hey, those are the rules of the game.

Once the crowd caught their breaths, quenched their thirsts with some ice cold beer, and took a bathroom/smoke break. All hell broke lose when the mighty Tesfuckingtament stepped on stage and did what they do best: shredding the audiences ear drums into pieces with an energetic, tight sounding set. One of the highlights of the night was seeing "The Atomic Clock", Gene Hoglan, give Testament an extra power boost that equated to a sonic assault that punched the crowd in the face. The results of how badass Testament were on Saturday night, were very imminent inside the pit! We also couldn't help noticing Chuck Billy's face as it clearly stated "man, I wish we could keep Gene on drums!"

Once Testament finished destroying The Starland Ballroom, a handful of fans left the show without even catching a glimpse of Anthrax's set. If they're reading this, they should kick themselves in the face because they missed one of the best performances of the year within the Heavy Music world.

Right from the get-go, Anthrax's sound wave of good vibes and positive energy struck the crowd with might! After facing hell, thanks to forced lineup changes within their vocalist department, the Anthrax boys are back in heaven thanks to the return of the great Joey Belladonna on vocals. Additionally, their brand new album "Worship Music" has given the Thrash Metal titans a lot of air to breath. Yes, their classic songs such as "Caught In A Mosh" "Indians", "I Am The Law", and "Madhouse "sounded awesome, but their new songs sounded like fresh dynamite that's ready to blow! And let's not even talk about how killer it was to see the band perform their classic song "Medusa"! Which was actually inspired by Death Angel; during their sound-check the day before, they started jamming to the song and next thing you know Joey Belladonna grabs a microphone and gets on vocals!

All in all, it was a great night of ear piercing Heavy Metal, and probably the best tour package to come through Slayerville, New Jersey in 2011. If you have a chance to catch this phenomenal tour, don't even think twice!

Mike Portnoy with Eddie Trunk!

Remaining tour-dates:

- 11/15 Buffalo, NY @ Town Ballroom
- 11/17 Pittsburgh, PA @ Stage AE
