Puscifer, the Northern Arizona-based band helmed by Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle), are releasing an eight-song EP titled 'Donkey Punch The Night' today (February 19) via Puscifer Entertainment. "While continuing our tradition of releasing a few NEW songs at a time," explained Keenan. "I also had an itch that needed scratching, and that itch was 'Balls To The Wall'. Which was followed by an even harder to reach itch known as 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. And scratch them we did." Here is the hilarious music video that the band filmed of their version of QUEEN's "Bohemian Rhapsody".
The collection features two NEW songs written by Keenan and Puscifer cohorts Mat Mitchell, Carina Round and Josh Eustis: "Breathe" and "Dear Brother" as well as two covers: Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and Accept's "Balls To The Wall." Donkey Punch The Night was recorded in Jerome, Ariz. in Keenan's Caduceus Cellars (www.caduceus.org) with the same roster from 2011's 'Conditions of My Parole' (Keenan, Mitchell, Round, Eustis, Matt McJunkins and Jeff Friedl) and guests Zac Rae (piano), Juliette Commagere (vocals), Josh Morreau (bass) and Claire Acey (vocals). Remixes of the four songs round-out the release with contributions from Los Angeles techno wizard Drumcell, Big Black Delta (aka Jonathan Bates, formerly of Mellowdrone and touring guitarist for M83), Sonoio (Italian multi-instrumentalist Alessandro Cortini of Modwheelmood and touring keyboard player for Muse and NIN) and Central American DJ, Silent Servant, who is well known for his mash-up of post-punk and techno. Donkey Punch The Night track list: 1. Bohemian Rhapsody "O.G. Mix" 2. Breathe 3. Dear Brother 4. Balls To The Wall "PIllow Fight Mix" 5. Breathe "Drumcell rework" 6. Dear Brother "Denton rework" (Big Black Delta) 7. Balls To The Wall "Silent Servant El Guapo Mix" 8. Our friends over at Metal Injection, reported yesterday that MASTODON are currently working on NEW music and what itmight sound like. Following their South American tour, the band is currently in writing mode and might hit the studio in January, it all depends on the bands touring plans for next year. This is what the bands guitarist Brent Hinds told MTV Hive about what the album might sound like:
"A lot of the stuff I’m writing is in open G-minor," he says, before explaining, "I’m playing a lot of slide guitar and just getting really Jimmy Page-y on the place and getting really eerie and Radioheadish and very spooky sounding." Right now, he thinks he has about three songs’ worth of material, "or it could be one gigantic one," he says straight-faced. "I haven’t made up my mind yet."
No matter what happens, though, Hinds says the wheels are in motion. "Those dudes are always working," he says of his bandmates. "There’s never really a shortage of music with Mastodon because all of us are working on something musically. I’m in good company. Just because they might stand in the middle of the stage or something, people might think, this is the leader, he must conduct everything, but we’re all the leaders. We spread the weight around."
Today the band posted the following Twit:
"Writing and recording a song for the new monster's inc. movie!!"
The status refers to Monsters University, the prequel to the Disney/Pixar movie Monsters Inc. scheduled for release on June 21, 2013. This means we'll definitely be hearing some NEW MASTODON next year, whither they enter the studio.
This will be the second time that the band dwells into animated features. The band made an appearance in the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie.

This just in: GODSMACK have announced that due to continued vocal issues with singer Sully Erna, the band has no option but to cancel the remaining dates on its currently scheduled European tour. Erna was examined by throat specialists in the U.S. yesterday and the advice of his doctors has been to not sing for the next several weeks to allow time for his vocal cords to heal. Here is a statement from Sully Erna:
"Sorry, Europe. Seems like we can't catch a break there lately. London, you were one of the best crowds we've played to in a very long time.... Belgium, you were awesome as well. As for the rest of you in Europe that we weren't able to reach, I promise you we'll be back!! For now it's lots of rest and fluids for me until my vocal specialist clears me to sing again. My deepest apologies Europe! You'll see us again. Thanks for your support and understanding."
The current trek marked the first time GODSMACK had toured Europe in
nearly nine years, and the band was only able to perform two of their
fourteen scheduled dates in Europe.
As previously reported, GODSMACK will perform on the main stage of The Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival along with multiplatinum Rock bands SHINEDOWN, STAIND

The "Death To All Tour 2012" (presented by Sick Drummer Magazine and Perseverance Holdings Ltd.) is coming to the United States this week in benefit of Sweet Relief. The short tour will feature a handful of DEATH All-Starts, as well as various special guests. This tour is to celebrate the life and music of Chuck Schuldiner, as well as to raise awareness of Sweet Relief Musicians Fund — a charity that provides financial assistance to career musicians faced with illness, disability or age-related problems.
Yesterday it was announced that the Dallas stop of the upcoming Death to All Tour has been postponed. Today the organizers have announced that the Atlanta show has also been put on hold. The reason? Both of these shows were in danger of being cancelled due to low advance ticket sales, which is happening way too often! Here is the official statement regarding this matter:
“It is with regret that we have to postpone the Atlanta and Dallas dates for Death To All 2012, but there is a good side. Many things have led us to this point including very low ticket sales, issues with opening bands being available and several other factors. We are very sorry to all of the Death fans this has caused an inconvenience and wish things could have been different. We did everything in our power to avoid this situation, but in the end the choice had to be made. The good news is that we are working to re-schedule these dates for early next year, and if possible, add more dates surrounding them in new cities! Please hold on to your tickets, as they will be honored.”
Here is the list of scheduled tour dates:
- June 22: The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, CA
- June 23: House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA
- June 26: House of Blues in Chicago, IL
- June 28: Irving Plaza in New York, NY
- June 30: The Beacham in Orlando, FL
Postponed tour dates:
- July 1: The Masquerade in Atlanta, GA (Atheist)
- July 3: House of Blues in Dallas, TX (Atheist)
The line up:
- Drums: Gene Hoglan ("Individual Thought Patterns", "Symbolic") and Sean Reinert ("Human")
- Bass: Steve DiGiorgio ("Human", "Individual Thought Patterns") and Scott Clendenin ("The Sound Of Perseverance")
- Guitars: Paul Masvidal ("Human"), Shannon Hamm ("The Sound of Perseverance") and Bobby Koelble ("Symbolic")
- Special guest vocalists: Charles Elliot (Abysmal Dawn), Steffen Kummerer (Obscura),
- The opening slots of the short tour will be divided between Gorguts and Atheist.
The third annual Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival will kick off August 17 in Kansas City, Missouri, criss-crossing the U.S. before wrapping September 30 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Tickets for most shows go on sale Friday, June 15 and are affordably priced between $15 and $75 (plus fees). Go to RockstarUproar.com for full details and to purchase tickets. In addition, exclusive Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival meet-and-greet and VIP packages will be available.

On the weekend of April 20th, Heavy Music history was written at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Massachusetts. What exactly took place? Well, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE performed their first show with original vocalist Jesse Leach.
Yesterday (June 1st), KSE performed in front of thousands of fans at "Rock AM Ring" in Nürburgring, Germany. At the end of their performance, the band rocked their own version of DIO's "Holy Diver" in tribute of Ronnie James Dio. Check it out!
Leach sang on the band's first self-titled album, which came out in 2000, and on their landmark 2002 Roadrunner debut 'Alive Or Just Breathing'. This past weekend, Heavy Music history was written at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Massachusetts. What exactly took place? Well, KSE performed their first show with original vocalist Jesse Leach. This is what KSE's guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz had to say about bringing Jesse back into the band.
"Honestly, we didn't want to jump into anything too quickly," Adam told AOL's Noisecreep in a recent interview. "We were in a position where we could take our time and try out as many singers as we wanted. There are a lot of talented singers out there, and we didn't want to rush everything. We ended up mulling it over a bit, and we tried out a few different people.
"When we got back in the rehearsal room with Jesse, it just felt right. He's one of my good friends, and the awkwardness of meeting someone for the first time, and all of that stuff, was gone when he jammed with us again. We also knew what Jesse is capable of, so it just took all of us getting in a room together again to remember how cool it once was. He blew us away."
The band's setlist:
01. Numbered Days
02. Self-Revolution
03. Fixation On The Darkness
04. Rose Of Sharyn (dedicated to ex-KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frontman Howard Jones)
05. This Is Absolution

A 30-second commercial for MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil's NEW strip club, "Girls, Girls, Girls", can be seen below. In a recent interview with Sally Steele of Vegas Rocks! magazine, Neil stated about why he decided to open his own strip club, "I've been going to strip clubs my whole adult life, I think. With the song 'Girls Girls Girls', we got inducted in 2007 into the Stripper Fall Of Fame. So it was just something that has been coming for a long time."
He added, "I love NEW businesses. It's just another cool thing, and I think it's great for Las Vegas. It's something different in a city that has everything... I literally live, like, five minutes from [the club]. So I'm gonna be here a lot when I'm in town and come here and hang out. It's a great place to hang."
Neil has set Friday, April 13, as the official grand opening of "Girls, Girls, Girls". The club will occupy the former Déjà Vu location opposite the Orleans off Tropicana Avenue a mile from the Las Vegas Strip.

The Black Dahlia Murder will renew their campaign across North America on May 11th in Madison, WI. The Canadian Ritual Tour will criss-cross Canada in its entirety before ending in their hometown of Detroit, MI on June 2nd. Support on the tour will come from Canada's own Fuck the Facts and Exhumed. The entire confirmed listing of dates can be seen below.
The Black Dahlia Murder have already toured Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Japan, with dates in New Zealand Japan, Soundwave Festival in Australia and are about to embark on a headlining tour of the US with Nile, Skeletonwitch and Hour Of Penance.
The Black Dahlia Murder's video for Moonlight Equilibrium is available below for your viewing pleasure! The video is a David Brodsky-directed nod to old-school horror films with a much more graphic approach. The video's content aptly fits the lycanthropic lyric concept set against a bawdy Victorian back drop. The result: a chilling and entertaining slice of mini-horror that Metal fans and horror-enthusiasts will enjoy.
