Former PANTERA bassist Rex Brown recently joined forces with De Capo Press to release a memoir entitled "Official Truth, 101 Proof: The Inside Story Of Pantera". The "starkly honest and revealing" book is available now!
If you live in the Los Angeles, CA area, Rex will be hosting a book signing next Thursday, May 9th at Soundcheck Hollywood. Fans will have to preorder or purchase the book from Soundcheck Hollywood in order to attend! Order it HERE!
We recently interviewed Rex about the book. Here is part II of our very in-depth interview with Rex. Watch and hear what he had to say about the excesses of the road with PANTERA, quitting DOWN and his musical future with KILL DEVIL HILL.
Here is part 1 of our interview with Rex:
We recently finished reading the book (our review can be seen HERE), and we honestly find this book to be the ultimate inside story of legendary Heavy Metal band PANTERA. Related links: Official site of Pantera
On April 17th, Italy's LACUNA COIL arrived at the Best Buy Theater in New York City to warm hundreds of ear buds for both SEVENDUST and COAL CHAMBER. Also on the bill were the great folks from STOLEN BABIES. While warming up a crowd is never easy, LC makes it look easy. For all of us who have seen them perform live, we know they take their job very seriously and this is evident from the moment they step on stage. Even though they were forced to perform without their bassist Marco Coti Zelati who has tendonitis, they got the job done!
Prior to his bands performance Andrea Ferro (the male voice of LACUNA COIL and the founder of the band) met with us backstage to chat about all things LC. During the interview, we talked about the band extensive three month tour and how he manages to keep his marriage healthy while on the road. We also talked about the dynamic between him and Cristina Scabbia (the bands female voice), and how this has on effect on the bands signature sound. He also offered us an update regarding the future of the band and of course we talked about Italian soccer! Without further due, here is our in-depth interview with Andrea Ferro.

As we all know, there is a lot going on within the SLAYER camp as of late that has nothing to do with their music. Not only did Dave Lombardo not make the trip to Australia for the bands appearance at SOUNDWAVE Festival, but Jeff Hanneman hasn't performed with the band since the BIG FOUR concert in Indio, California in April of 2011 (EXODUS' Gary Holt is his temporary replacement). While the band is working on some NEW music, nothing concrete has been announced regarding the future of the band.
Yesterday (February 23), Tom Araya was interviewed by Soundwave TV's Christina about plans for the future, the (lack of) memories of the past, how the songwriting process works within Slayer, his most creative period and the story behind Slayer in Sydney back in 2011. Araya also discussed the involvement of Jon Dette with the band. Dette is currently stepping for the bands original drummer Dave Lombardo. Here is the interview:
This past Thursday, October 11th, METALLICA's Kirk Hammett took part in a question-and-answer session during a signing event to promote his book, "Too Much Horror Business - The Kirk Hammett Collection", at Barnes & Noble in New York City. You can watch video of the interview below.
Hammett has scheduled the following signing events to promote his book, "Too Much Horror Business - The Kirk Hammett Collection":
Oct. 13 - New York Comic Con - Abrams Book Booth - New York, NY - 11:45 a.m.
Oct. 13 - New York Comic Con - Tokyo Toys Booth - New York, NY - 1:30 p.m.

Oct. 27 - Chiller Theater - Parsippany, NJ - [time to be announced]
Nov. 20 - Books Inc - Opera Plaza, San Francisco, CA - [time to be announced]
Recently, Hammett spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle about his upcoming 228-page book “Too Much Horror Business”, which documents his obsession with all things horror and large collection of horror memorabilia. Here’s what Hammett had to say about his latest endeavor:
“I’ve been into [horror] stuff since I was 5 years old – you could say I started as a collector back then. But at one point, when I was 14, I discovered music, and for a long time it took over my life. My love for this stuff is insane and totally obsessive-compulsive – it’s just one of those things. I’m still waiting to outgrow it or get tired of it or get bored with it… but that never seems to happen.”
“When I see my kids totally into their Legos, it brings me back to the days I was hanging out and playing with my monster models – it brings me there in a second. The other day we watched ‘Bride Of Frankenstein’, and my kids loved it,” he said.
Heavy Metal's most infamous front-man, Dani Filth, of world-renowned act, CRADLE OF FILTH, recently answered some questions about the band's upcoming album, 'The Manticore and Other Horrors', calling the group's 10th release, "the pinnacle of what Cradle of Filth are now." As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN will be headlining the 2013 edition of the Download Festival at Donington Park, England. This significant achievement is equally significant as 2013 is the 25th anniversary of MAIDEN first topping the bill there in 1988 when the festival was known as Monsters Of Rock attracting 107,000 fans, which is still the highest attendance ever at Donington. This was during their "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" tour, from which the current tour draws much of its inspiration for both set list and production as seen in the 1988 long form concert video "Maiden England", making this Download appearance even more unique!
Here is part two of the in-depth interview that Metal Hammer conducted with the pilot of "Ed force One" (Maiden's plane), Mr. Bruce Dickinson!
Download 2013 takes place at Donington Park from June 14-16 2013. Weekend with camping tickets go on sale 9.00am Friday 28 September from www.downloadfestival.co.uk. Download RIP ticket packages are on sale now and can be purchased via www.livenationexperience.co.uk or by phoning 0207 009 3484.

The cello-playing hair-swinging Finns from APOCALYPTICA have been briefly off the radar, still touring with their latest release up to date '7th Symphony' (released August 20, 2010).
Metal From Finland caught up with Eicca Toppinen on July 1st (the last very hot day of Tuska Open Air) in Helsinki, Finland. It was time to find out what the guys have been up to and what’s NEW on the horizon for the band. Many thanks to Tanja for the killer interview!
FEAR FACTORY's eighth studio album 'The Industrialist' is due in North America on June 5 via Candlelight Records. Once again the industrial Metallers have come up with a conceptual record based around a story written by vocalist Burton C. Bell. Lyrics to the album's ten songs divulge the narrative as discussed recently by Bell on the interview below. The album's artwork was created by American designer Anthony Clarkson with additional direction from the band. The album will be available on three formats — standard CD, a limited edition deluxe digi-book (featuring two additional songs), and 180-gram double vinyl.
Here is a video interview we conducted with FEAR FACTORY's vocalist Burton C. Bell, filmed right before his band took center stage at their sold out show at The Gramercy Theatre in New York City. During the interview, Bell explains the production process and the concept behind 'The Industrialist' and talks about the bands recent lineup changed. Crank it up and thanks for watching!
Charlotte, North Carolina's WRETCHED was given the arduous task of opening the second edition of the "Metalliance" Tour. So far they have proven to be up to par with bands of the caliber of DevilDriver, Dying Fetus, The Faceless and Job For A Cowboy. With the release of their brand NEW album 'Sons Of Perdition' (out now via Victory Records), there is no doubt in our minds that WRETCHED will soon be upgraded from an opening band to a kick in the face headliner or direct support.
Recently, we had the chance to chat with WRETCHED's frontman Adam Cody at the "Metalliance Tour" in New York City. During the conversation, he discussed the bands NEW album 'Sons Of Peridtion', the bands plans for 2012, and the "Metalliance Tour". Watch it, share it, and go see WRETCHED live!
IMPENDING DOOM released their brand NEW full length album entitled 'Baptized in Filth' on March 13th via EOne Music. Produced by Andreas Magnusson (The Black Dahlia Murder) and Machine, this is the bands fourth full length and most ferocious effort to date.

Soaked in equal parts misanthropy and naked rage, JOB FOR A COWBOY's NEW album 'Demonocracy' is scheduled for North American release on April 10, 2012 through Metal Blade Records. The nine-track recording tackles a host of political and economic themes including media propaganda, the “war industry” and the staggering debts faced by America. Produced by Jason Suecof (Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Trivium) at Audiohammer Studios, and featuring another intricate and thought-provoking cover design by artist Brent Elliott White.

Machine Head, Suicide Silence and Darkest Hour are currently destroying venues all over North America! Their collective promise of reducing venues to piles of rubble and dust during “The Eighth Plague” tour, has definitely been kept so far.

VAN HALEN's NEW album, 'A Different Kind of Truth', was released this past Tuesday (February 7) via Interscope Records. The day after their highly anticipate release, VAN HALEN performed a final dress rehearsal in preparation for their upcoming North American tour which kicks off Feb 18th in Louisville, Kentucky.
This “Friends and Family” event was held at the Forum in Los Angeles for a few thousand of their closest friends. A lot of great Rock N' Roll was packed into their tight 70-minute performance. The set list for last night is shown here, but the actual tour’s set list will contain more songs, as their shows are always closer to two hours. The only solo during the night was Eddie Van Halen’s guitar solo, which clearly showed the die hard fans in attendance that Eddie is BACK and playing even better than he did during the band’s last tour in 2007-2008.

Around 9:30, the mighty MACHINE HEAD returned to New York City after many years of not stepping on stage in the city that never stops rocking! Talk about a comeback show. Machine Head are currently destroying venues all over North American on their first headline tour in four years. Their promise of reducing venues to piles of rubble and dust during “The Eighth Plague” tour, has definitely been kept so far.
This past Friday (February 3), the band took over the Best Buy Theater in New York City. Joining the Bay Area Metallers were Suicide Silence and Darkest Hour. Going into this show we knew that this lineup would be the perfect recipe for a night of musical greatness! While all three bands possess very different musical styles, they all share the same philosophy: put on a great show in order to make sure that everyone gets their money's worth.
D.C.'s Darkest Hour kicked off the “The Eighth Plague” New York City show at around 7:30 and took advantage of every minute they had to rock the hell out of the hundreds of headbangers. While their set was short and sweet, they definitely shook the entire floor up and got things warmed up Machine Head and Suicide Silence.
Then it was time for Suicide Silence to stomp on stage and devour ear drums. If there is a band that deserved to open for Machine Head this time around, that band is Suicide Silence. The Californian extreme Metallers never go on stage unprepared, because they understand how competitive the music market is today. Their live show is one to be reckon with and we predict many more years of musical madness for these young bucks.
Around 9:30, the mighty MACHINE HEAD returned to New York City after many years of not stepping on stage in the city that never stops rocking! Talk about a comeback show. This time around MACHINE HEAD brought with them an impressive aural and visual show that stimulated the senses of over 2,000 headbangers. MACHINE HEAD's Setlist - New York City (February 3, 2012:
1) I Am Hell (Sonata in C#)
2) Be Still and Know
3) Imperium
4) Beautiful Mourning
5) The Blood, the Sweat, the Tears
6) Locust
7) This Is the End
8) Aesthetics Of Hate
9) Old
10) Darkness Within

12) Ten Ton Hammer
13) Who We Are

So far Machine Head has exceeded all expectations and have definitely proven their elite status amongst today’s massive array of Heavy Metal artists. Actually, "Unto The Locust" doubled on the #54 Billboard Top 200 debut chart position of the band’s 2007 Grammy-nominated release, "The Blackening", Machine Head have topped themselves again with a remarkable #22 Billboard Top 200 chart debut for their new album, "Unto The Locust", with over 17,000 albums scanned. The band is currently gearing up for their North American tour.
