THE WINERY DOGS, An All NEW Supergroup, Announce NEW Label Home!

The Winery Dogs, the power trio featuring Rock veterans Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold), Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big) and Richie Kotzen (Mr. Big, Poison), have signed with Loud & Proud Records. The Winery Dogs’ self-titled debut album will be released in North America on July 23. THE WINERY DOGS was self-produced and mixed by Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Stone Sour, Steel Panther). It features a classic Rock/power trio sound which seamlessly melds the immense talents of the three veteran rockers.

The band has already released two videos from the NEW album, “Elevate” and “Desire,” the latter of which recently premiered on Ulitmateclassicrock.com. Both videos can now be seen below.

Of The Winery Dogs’ signing, Mike Portnoy commented, “I am so excited about The Winery Dogs and am proud and honored to be working with two of the greatest musicians on the planet! Richie Kotzen is such an unbelievable talent, as a vocalist, guitarist and songwriter. I think The Winery Dogs will finally get him the attention and recognition that he so richly deserves. THE WINERY DOGS is definitely not another side project for Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG), Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, ADRENALINE MOB) and Richie Kotzen (MR. BIG, POISON)! From the few tracks we have cranked thus far, their sound is ready to be heard by the entire world. We predict that THE WINERY DOGS will become a huge asset within the Heavy Music world. Why?

Mike Portnoy Announces The Celebrity Cymbal Fundraiser Raffle - Details Available!

A MESSAGE FROM MIKE PORTNOY:

"Hi Everybody,

"This past October, one of my closest friends (I am his daughter's Godfather) had a tragic accident at work and fell down an elevator shaft.

"This accident has left him permanently paralyzed from the chest down and he will likely now be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

"This tragic and unexpected turn of events has permanently changed not only his life, but all of his family and friends around him.

"For us all to adapt to such a life changing incident is something that will take time, patience and love.

"It breaks my heart to see him and his family suffer and the reality is that it is leaving him in a situation where he can no longer provide for his family financially.

"My first instinct was to wonder "what can I do to help?"

"Although nothing I can do will ever get him up and walking again, I wanted to at least do SOMETHING to try and raise some monetary help for him and his family in this horrible time of need and transition.

"So I decided to gather some signatures on one of my cymbals from some of my friends in the business who all immediately volunteered to help for the cause.

"This amazing one of a kind collector's item contains signatures from members of some of the greatest bands in hard rock and heavy metal including:

Zulie's 12 Pieces Of Eye Candy For 2012 - Image Gallery Available!

In 2012, Horns Up Rocks' Zulie Alvarez entered plenty of photo pits throughout the tri-state area and captured a lot of very memorable moments. Before we share with you "Zulie's 12 Pieces Of Eye Candy For 2012", let us tell you about the wonderful Zulie.

Zulie was born in Ecuador in 1982 and arrived in Brooklyn, NY in 1985. During her High School years she picked up her first camera (an Olympus IS-30 DLX) and started shooting random surroundings, such as: objects around her home, friends, animals, and pretty much anything that caught her attention along the way. This resulted in her adopting some visual aesthetics that she still applies to this day. Zulie’s pristine vision is transmitted via her camera lens and in only 13 years she has been able to capture some very unique and memorable photographs. Her work is constantly evolving and she is always willing to learn new things.

Metal Masters IV Interview: Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG), Gary Holt (SLAYER/EXODUS) & Frank Bello (ANTHRAX)!

On Friday, September 7, Heavy Metal history was written when the METAL MASTERS - Philip Anselmo, Kerry King, Dave Lombardo, Scott Ian, Frank Bello, Charlie Benante, Billy Sheehan and Gary Holt - performed together at the fourth installment of Samson's "Metal Master" series, which was held at the Gramercy Theatre on the famed island of Manhattan in New York City.

Prior to this historic event, we had the pleasure of interviewing Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big), Gary Holt (Slayer/Exodus), and Frank Bello (Anthrax). During this conversation we discussed the importance of a massive event like the Metal Masters for the entire Heavy Music scene.
