DEVILDRIVER Announce NEW Album Title & Release Date; Album Cover Revealed!

DEVILDRIVER have confirmed that the title of their new album is 'Winter Kills'. The album will be released worldwide on August 27th via Napalm Records. The band recorded the album in Florida at Audio Hammer Studios and vocals in Los Angeles, CA at Dez's home studio with Mark Lewis (Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, All That Remains) handling production duties.

DEVILDRIVER has worked with Lewis previously on "Beast" and "The Last Kind Words" and producer Mark Lewis's prolific leadership of the new school of metal has yet again helped DEVILDRIVER deliver another Epic heavy Metal record. This record melds what the band does best. In your face power as well as the California Groove sound the band pioneered.

The artwork for Winter Kills features a photograph by Dean Karr.  The layout was done by Ryan Clark/Invisible Creature.

"This is by far DEVILDRIVER's most cohesive, powerful, groove laden record to date!

We delivered our signature California Groove sound alongside a Raw and Biting guitar tone, mixed it with massive hooks, added in thunderous drums to rethink, and reshape another different sounding unique piece of Rock-N-Roll! Cutting our own path is something to be proud of. DEVILDRIVER has always and will forever be about thinking outside the box and delivering on something different from record to record, we cannot be assimilated into any scene or even genre of Metal and we will continue to do things our own way with a massive middle finger in the air to the status quo!"

Hail RockNRoll
- Dez FaFara

The band will be hitting the road worldwide in support of Winter Kills.  Touring as always will be a focal point for the band. The US can expect to see them this fall and winter with Europe and the rest of the globe coming in 2014 and beyond.

COAL CHAMBER To Join Forces With Their Former "Enemies" In SEVENDUST?

Late last year, SEVENDUST guitarist Cling Lowery announced that SEVENDUST were might be joining forces with COAL CHAMBER for a massive tour!

Well, according to Blabbermouth, COAL CHAMBER and SEVENDUST will be teaming up for a U.S. co-headlining tour this April. Thus far, only one date has been revealed: April 4 at the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

In 2003, the two bands engaged in a well-publicized feud and even SEVENDUST dedicated their single "Enemy" to COAL CHAMBER's very own Dez Farara. Morgan Rose from SEVENDUST told Tacoma, Washington's The News Tribune at the time about the war of words:

"It's been pretty humorous, actually, because, to be honest, [Dez is] not really someone who's important to society. So it's not like I'm talking about anyone that many people really know about." He continued: "COAL CHAMBER was a really popular band. Now they're not a band anymore, and my [then-]wife [bassist Rayna Foss] was probably the most popular member. The irony of this whole thing was I didn't want to give him any press. ... It was laid out on a press release that I kind of got tricked into. I wanted it to be a more universal song. A lot of people have people they don't like, that treat people that they care about with no respect. [My wife is] the reason I was mad at him in the first place. He treated her awful, while she was pregnant with my daughter inside of her. He was completely stressing her out and making her upset."

Stay tuned for more news about this touring package!

Don't forget that SEVENDUST will set out on a headlining tour with Lacuna Coil starting February 2, 2013 in Winston-Salem, NC at Ziggy’s. Tickets are on sale now! Fans should check their local ticket outlets for purchase info.

COAL CHAMBER Update By Dez Fafara: "About a week ago, they sent me some new tunes and said..."

When Coal Chamber arrived to the Heavy Music scene in 1994, their music was assimilated by millions of fans worldwide thanks to their fresh sounding mix of Heavy Metal and Alternative Music blended with elements of Industrial Metal. Aside from their music, their gothic imagery also helped to captivate a ton of eye balls that were rather confused at what Coal Chamber was feeding to them. After a successful run that spanned from 1994 to 2003, Dez Fafara left the band due to internal problems. Shortly after he left the band, Dez joined DevilDriver and we all know the results of this crushing band by now: uncompromised hard hitting Heavy Metal!

After reuniting this past March for a series of concerts as part of Australia's Soundwave Festival (video below), DevilDriver singer Dez Fafara has an update for the COAL CHAMBER fans:

"What we did is [the members of the original COAL CHAMBER band] started talking over the last six years — they were coming around to DEVILDRIVER shows and such; I mean, they actually hang out with the DEVILDRIVER guys in L.A. more than I do, 'cause I live outside of L.A., about two hours. We did that Australian run and it went just spectacular. After that, we went down and we did South America for nine days [in September], and that went killer. So now we're starting to kick around, like, 'OK, do we wanna hit the States? Do we wanna do something?'

"COAL CHAMBER, for me right now, is like a really fine woman, man. I've gotta re-date her — she's back in my life, I've gotta see how she is, and we've gotta take our time with each other. And that's what we're doing. And I think that's the important thing — we're doing it for the love of the music as well. There's a lot of people that never got to either see COAL CHAMBER live or haven't seen us in a long time due to the breakup.

"It's good to see [the other guys in the band] off hard drugs, man, and you can see these guys are crystal clear, and it makes me wanna do music with them again.

"Right now, with COAL CHAMBER, that's what we're doing — we're taking it slow. About a week ago, they sent me some new tunes and said, 'Hey, would you ever think about doing a NEW record? Here's some NEW tunes.' And they were absolutely killer. They were moving forward with their sound, but yet you could tell it was COAL CHAMBER, but it wasn't so linear. So who knows what's gonna happen in the future, man? We're just playing it by ear at this point. I've got a lot going on right now, so we just have to really see."

COAL CHAMBER Performs In Buenos Aires, Argentina - Live Footage Available!

Earlier this year, during an interview with Australia's Loud magazine, Dez talked about how the COAL CHAMBER reunion came about: "In '05, Meegs [Miguel Rascón, guitar] started coming around. He apologized to my wife for the way things went down with COAL CHAMBER, because when COAL CHAMBER split up I had to move my family into a one-bedroom apartment and start all over. So when he apologized to my wife, I thought, 'Well, OK, he's got a big heart inside him. And he's clean off the hard drugs now, let's see if this goes awhile.' So let's fast forward a few years to '09, he and Mikey [Mike Cox, drums] were still clean off hard drugs, Meegs came out and did 'Loco' onstage with DevilDriver. After that he gave me a hug onstage and in my ear he said, 'Let's do this again.'"

Earlier today (Wednesday, September 5) COAL CHAMBER performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina. You can watch the bands live performance HERE!

You can listen to an exclusive interview HERE!

As previously reported, Dez Fafara has announced that he in talks with the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California in order to have COAL CHAMBER perform their first Los Angeles-area show in over 10 years.

The Music Industry Takes A Punch To The Stomach; Roadrunner Records Closes International Offices!

Wow! Here is some evidence that the music business is broken, and might never be put back together again like Humpty Dumpty! In 2010, ROADRUNNER RECORDS got bought out by the Warner Music Group and as we all know this always means that the employees are the ones that will take the punch to the stomach via either salary reductions or by simply put: being "fired". While there had already been someone layoffs at ROADRUNNER RECORDS, today the hammer went down hard on their UK and Canadian employees.

According to various sources, ROADRUNNER RECORDS is closing their UK and Canadian offices. Apparently, their German office will face the same destiny. What about their U.S. team? Well, there are rumors that some staff members have been dismissed ever since WMG took over ROADRUNNER. The label has obviously been very quiet about this extreme situation! So far the only "statement" regarding this matter was this Twit by @ROADRUNNER_UK:

"What a day..."
Here is what TRIVIUM's front man Matt Heafy Twitted regarding this sad truth:

“I wish I knew who or what to blame specifically, and chew off it’s heads – but Roadrunner records just fired some of their best employees,” he said. “I don’t know if it’s corporate greed or it’s due to the fact that no one puts value in physical art and that piracy created a domino effect, but our friends who are being tossed away so quickly by the label are now out of jobs. These people helped bands get where they are today. Wanna defend piracy? Do what you do for me and 10,000 others for free. Whatever your trade is – give me that for free or you’re a jerk. The real issue aside from whatever caused it is that in an industry NEEDING loyal people – higher-ups in their cushy desks wrote them off. Regardless of your stance, we all work for a living. I do what I do to pay RENT. If I wanted millions, I’d be in pop music. And the real fact of the matter is that I am pissed off at my GREEDY record label for canning my friends who helped build our band. My heart goes out to my friends who have been delivered this awful news today. You helped us get where we are. You’re in our thoughts. Truth is: I love Roadrunner. I'm upset with what happened to the people I care about. Roadrunner helped build the Metal that I love. And to address the other topic from my heat of battle. Technology is required in life. Technology in music reaches far beyond the physical.. In most places of the world, it's all bootlegged – there isn't officially a music market – people need to download music, or not even get it. The times are changing. Yes. Completely true. But the main thing is that we need to treat people like we want to be treated… Of course I'll be emotional when it has to do with people I love and care and respect for helping me. If I blew up on the wrong parties… Then I apologize. But. The main point is that people need to remember, Internet aside-we are dealing with human beings. I feel for my friends. It wasn't ROADRUNNER canning people. It's the "company" who "owns" it. Long live ROADRUNNER (the memory of something that once was great).”

To this Dez Fafara (DevilDriver/COAL CHAMBER) added:

"For you RR closing offices may be about your favorite BAND but in reality it's about the PEOPLE WHO MADE YOU AWARE OF YOUR FAVORITE BAND that worked at RR! From the Girl answering the phone to the ART department to the A&R who FOUND your favorite band in some small club and WORKED to sign them! To the PRESS persons who work day and night to get your favorite BAND in Mags on websites etc so they became visible and had a Shot at making their dreams come true! So while you want to worry and it's alright to do so for YOUR FAVORITE RR BAND/you should stop and take a moment to think about all the jobs lost, families out of work and band that will be getting dropped. You should TAKE THE TIME TO THANK IN WRITING ALL THE HARD WORKING PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCENES THAT BELIEVED IN YOUR FAVORITE BAND BEFORE YOU EVEN HEARD THEIR NAMES …."

While METAL BLADE RECORDS' CEO Brian Slagel stated:

"Sad to see the closing of our friends at Roadrunner in Europe and the UK. What happened today to Roadrunner is one of the biggest reasons I never sold to a major. When we started 30 years ago we worked with Roadrunner. They distributed our stuff in Europe and we did their stuff in the USA. Sad day. We always had a great relationship with everyone at Roadrunner from Cees Wessels on down. Great label, sorry to see so many out of work. The music business changes all the time. Please support the bands and labels you like. Thanks!"

Watch COAL CHAMBER's Entire Set At The Soundwave Festival In Australia!

Shortly after he left the band, Dez formed DevilDriver and we all know the results of this crushing band by now: uncompromised hard hitting Heavy Metal!

This past Sunday (February 26), Coal Chamber performed at the Olympic Park in Sydney, Australia as part of Soundwave Festival. This is what vocalist and co-founder Dez Fafara had to say about the reunion of Coal Chamber.

"Unbelievable. Full circle. I mean, to get those guys back in my life and clean off hard drugs and want[ing] to do shows, it's incredible. The feeling is incredible and the love had been just incredible as well. I woke up at 4:30 the other morning with my phone ringing off the hook and my Twitter, everything going crazy, it's so good to see. After all these years, we haven't played together in 10 years... We've been going over the setlist and it's been nothing but fun right now. I mean, going back and forth about a setlist with these guys just turns into jokes and hours of e-mails of jokes and we forget what we're doing. So you realize that these guys are a big, big part of my life and I don't even know if I'd be here with DEVILDRIVER for Meegs [guitar] and Mikey drums], so it's good to have them back in my life and getting ready to go do COAL CHAMBER shows."

As previously reported, Coal Chamber drummer Mikal "Mikey" Cox broke two fingers during the Brisbane concert on February 25.

Coal Chamber Reunites!

Shortly after he left the band, Dez formed DevilDriver and we all know the results of this crushing band by now: uncompromised hard hitting Heavy Metal!

Today, it was announced that Coal Chamber is reuniting! This is what vocalist and co-founder Dez Fafara had to say about this.

“Coal Chamber is playing Soundwave Down Under! These reunion shows are for the fans that want to see us again as well as all the people that never got to see Coal Chamber. It is and always will be a very special part of my life, so these few shows are for those people and for us. If you’re not from Australia, better get a ticket now to come see this event!”

“Australia has never seen us, nor have we seen them,” adds guitarist Meegs Rascón. “It will be an extraordinary exchange of energy and adrenaline. Hello Aussies, nice to meet you!”

Coal Chamber is highly-regarded for their countless high-energy performances with several of today’s biggest names and selling millions of albums worldwide.

Formed in 1993 by Dez and Meegs, Coal Chamber was busy selling out venues like The Roxy in West Hollywood, bringing out bands like System of a Down and Static X, and launching a new genre of Metal in Los Angeles before they were even signed to Roadrunner Records in 1995. After what seemed like endless touring, the band recorded and released their debut self-titled album in February 1997. The album went RIAA Certified Gold in the United States. The band went on to tour several times with Pantera, Black Sabbath, and soon broke out in the UK while on tour with Machine Head and Napalm Death. During the first album cycle, Sharon Osbourne began managing the band.

Following the band’s headline run with Machine Head as direct support and Slipknot as opener (whom the band also helped bring to the masses), Coal Chamber released their next album, "Chamber Music", in 1999. The album charted at #28 on the Billboard Top 100 chart and yielded a hit track, ‘Shock The Monkey’, featuring Ozzy Osbourne.

In 2002, the band followed-up with their third and final album, "Dark Days", which landed at #34 on the Billboard Top 100 chart. Coal Chamber released a compilation of several demo tracks and alternate studio recordings in 2003, entitled "Giving The Devil His Due".

“This reunion will mark a decade since we last played together, so staring at my brothers on stage face to face will be an emotional rollercoaster for me,” says Meegs. “Tears of joy would be an understatement to say the least. You know, all of us have gone through our separate journeys in life, but we’re coming back to rekindle this and throw the past in the past and put the future in our hands.”

Drummer Mike Cox adds, “Of all the great achievements Coal Chamber made in the past, getting back together after all we’ve been through will be the greatest achievement to date.”

“We've all grown up and put the personal past behind us now and are moving forward with these few shows in a spirit of friendship through music,” states Dez. “You must remember where you came from in order to know where you are going.”
