Heavy Music history was written on Thursday, May 2 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, CA. Not only did the Revolver Golden Gods Awards welcome the elite of the music we all love, but the energy inside the sold out venue was incomparable. Here is a scoop of who won what, and who performed with who.
Prior to the event we took over the Black Carpet and chatted with Evan Seinfeld (ex-BIOHAZARD) and Rusty Coones from ATTIKA 7!Check it out if you are down for life!
The entire event was dedicated to SLAYER's Jeff Hanneman, who passed away yesterday morning from liver failure. Details HERE!
NYHC legends BIOHAZARD have enter the studio to begin writing and demoing the follow-up to this year's 'Reborn In Defiance'. The band decided to start working on NEW music, since there were a lot of uncontrollable situations that kept the bands latest album 'Reborn In Defiance' (released ONLY in Europe on January 20 via Nuclear Blast Records). Two situations that really affected the progress of the band were:
- The departure of singer/bassist Evan Seinfeld from the band right after the completion of 'Reborn In Defiance'
- Not being able to release the record in the United States and other territories for reasons beyond the bands control.
As soon as Seinfeld left the band, the remaining members of BIOHAZARD - Billy Graziadei, Bobby Hambel and Danny Schuler - recruited Scott Robers to take Seinfeld's place. Roberts, who played on the band's 2005 "Means To An End" album and has been part of the BIOHAZARD extended family ever since.
This past Sunday, July 15, a fan lost consciousness after stage diving during BIOHAZARD's concert in Kosice, Slovakia. Thankfully, after noticing the passed out fan on the floor of the venue, the bands guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei immediately stopped the show and called for the crowd to move forward so that the fan could receive assistance. He told the audience over the PA system, "If you're gonna jump off stage, you've gotta catch each other. We're fucking brothers, we're fucking sisters. One fucking scene. I don't want anybody to get hurt."
According to reports from other people attending the concert, the fan in question did not sustain any serious injuries and he regained consciousness a short time later.
Today, Graziadei posted the following comment on his Facebook page:
"I GREW UP stage diving (as most of us did), it was the biggest challenge at a show; getting past security, pledging your love for the band you were watching by launching yourself off the stage! Sometimes I was caught but more times than not, I wasn't. I have the scars from stitches and many concussions I carry with pride as "war wounds" from shows. Like many others, I've spent the night in the hospital after shows more times than I care to remember. Do I regret it? F*ck no! Just like all of my friends/family around the world from OUR subculture of which I proudly consider my self part of, I carry these scars and memories with pride as we ALL do. Is a sad thing when someone get's hurt and it pains me to watch this video. I'm happy to say our friend David is OK, he is home from the hospital! With the sad event that went down in Czech Republic, our hearts go out to everyone involved! I'm glad this story had a happier ending!"

ATTIKA 7 recorded Blood of My Enemies with legendary producer MUDROCK (Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack). Expect an announcement coming very soon detailing some big things happening with ATTIKA 7!
Former BIOHAZARD frontman Evan Seinfeld (now in ATTIKA7), has had quiet a career in the entertainment industry! At the young age of 17 he formed BIOHAZARD, a Hardcore Punk band that riskily crossed over into Heavy Metal. After many years of placing New York City culture in the International map of Heavy Music, Seinfeld started looking for other ways to grow as an artist. This is when he started venturing into television and later into adult film. While he is proud of all that he has accomplished, music is where his heart is!
When Seinfeld left BIOHAZARD earlier this year, right after the completion of the bands NEW album 'Reborn in Defiance', the entire Heavy Music community was shocked to find out that Seinfeld had quit the band he founded in 1987. While the reasons for his departure didn't change the evolution of the band, their fans were left wondering the reason behind Seinfeld's decision. We recently had the chance to chat with Seinfeld about why he left the band to join ATTIKA 7, and why he is more excited than ever before about his upcoming album with his NEW band.
ATTIKA 7’s NEW album, 'Blood Of My Enemies', is set for a July 31, 2012 release and features ex-Biohazard vocalist Evan Seinfeld, lead guitarist, notable songwriter and famed (Sons of Anarchy) motorcycle builder Rusty Coones, and bassist Tony Campos, founding member of Static X, who also currently performs in Soulfly, Prong, Possessed, Asesino and Ministry. The band recorded 'Blood of My Enemies' with legendary producer MUDROCK (Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack).
Joining the band recently, are guitarist Zach Broderick (formerly with Nonpoint), drummer Tommy Holt (ex-UPO) and legendary Kyuss bassist Scott Reeder.
Here is the first part of our exclusive interview with Evan Seinfeld! Sit back, relax and crank it up!

During this clip, Seinfeld talks about one of BIOHAZARD's biggest and proudest moments within their extensive musical career. In 2010, the band headlined "Rock Al Parque", one of Latin America's biggest music festivals in front of over 300,000 people. The event takes place every year in Bogota, Colombia and it gathers a VERY diverse lineup. It also attracts thousands of music fans from all parts of the country. This year's edition takes place this weekend (see the poster below)! Without further due, here is the interview clip. Watch it, share it and stay tuned for the full interview!

Hardcore veterans Biohazard have chosen Travis Campbell’s video for “Vengeance Is Mine” as the grand prize winner of their music video contest. Using their Facebook page, the band challenged fans to create their own music video for a track off of their MEW album 'REBORN IN DEFIANCE'. Submissions were uploaded to Youtube, and the band unanimously agreed on Travis’ entry as the first official video for 'REBORN IN DEFIANCE'.
Vocalist / guitarist Billy Graziadei says, “Without the help of extra footage, Travis took some classic imagery from our previous videos and made it all work for Vengeance is Mine... pure awesomeness! Be on the lookout for some great things to come from him!"
The winning video consists of clips from the band’s music videos from previous years cleverly synched so they appear to be performing the NEW song, “Vengeance Is Mine”, interspersed with footage of social strife throughout history. Watch it now!
Travis explains, “I have been a Biohazard fan since the early 90s and have always been influenced by their videos and social commentary and wanted to show my respect and appreciation for a band that has helped me get through some rough times throughout the years. I started watching all the old Bio vids and got the idea of taking all the material and cutting it in a NEW way and adding in civil unrest footage from Occupy Wall Street, the Civil Rights Era, and other events like Bloody Sunday. The hardest part was getting the synch right, having Billy from 1994 singing to a phrase in 2012 proved quite challenging! In the end I am proud of the video and I am elated that Biohazard likes it as well.”
Travis will be rewarded with the “DFL Grand Prize”, which guarantees him free Biohazard tickets and AAA passes for himself and a friend to all Biohazard shows, for life. First runner up Randy Memoli (“Reborn”) andsecond runner up Kareem Girgis (Come Alive) will each receive a ticket to all Biohazard shows for life.
Billy adds, “We got a lot of great submissions that all rocked! Thank you to everyone who spent their time and talent on making their own great videos, DFL forever!”
Biohazard recently added a string of July dates to their summer touring of select European festivals and will continue to tour internationally throughout the year in support of REBORN IN DEFIANCE. The summer dates are listed below.
The highly anticipated ninth studio album by Biohazard is called 'Reborn In Defiance' and is available now everywhere, except in North America. The band has recently unleashed their NEW music video for "Vengeance Is Mine". Directed by Travis Campbell, the video features footage of the band throughout the years doing what they do best: destroy ear drums every time they step on a stage! The rebellious video also showcases the state of humanity and how things keep rolling in a cycle of self destruction. What are we talking about? Check the video out and you will understand what we mean.
'Reborn In Defiance' marks the first time in 18 years that the band records an album with their original lineup (Evan Seinfeld, Bobby Hambel, Billy Graziadei & Danny Schuler). The bands ninth studio album was Produced Toby Wright (Alice in Chains, Metallica).
The highly anticipated ninth studio album by Biohazard is called 'Reborn In Defiance' and is set to be released tomorrow, Friday, January 20th. The expectations are high, and while many mistakenly thought that the band was finished once Evan Seinfeld (co-founder, singer, bassist) left the band last summer, the Heavy Music world will be caught in a devastating hurricane of musical greatness once the masses are infected with the NEW Biohazard!
After giving this album numerous spins, we truly believe that this is a contender for comeback album of the year. After seeing them perform a slew of these NEW songs this this past Tuesday (January 17) in New York City, during their hometown CD release show, Biohazard proved that they still have the attitude, energy, and powerful music that made them break all sound barriers when they arrived to the Heavy Music scene in the late 80s.
Before the event was kicked off by New York City Metallers Wrench and Ikillya, we had the chance to chat with Billy Graziadei (co-founder, vocalist, guitarist) about the bands perseverance, the challenges they have faced, and Biohazard's ninth studio album, which marks the first time in 18 years that the band records an album with their original lineup (Evan Seinfeld, Bobby Hambel, Billy Graziadei & Danny Schuler). Produced Toby Wright (Alice in Chains, Metallica), the NEW Biohazard album will be available worldwide January 20th, 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records. Without further due, here is our insightful interview with Billy!

"It dropped like a bombshell. It kind of came up from left field. We finished tracking the record in late February and really didn't have much contact with him that much. Everything was through management and I was working on the mix with Toby and some additional overdubs and different ideas and some piano and keyboard stuff. Then a couple of weeks ago he calls up and says, 'I can't do it anymore!' He's got a bunch of personal stuff and it's mostly secret. But it's personal between… it's what's going on in his life, but he made a decision and we weren't happy about it, but we made our decision to continue and keep going. It would be great if he was here and I know he's proud of the record and as happy as it came out as we are. We were all there and made it together and focused equally on it, but rather to let it die out, we said, 'You know what? Fuck it! We're all psyched and happy and even though things are different it doesn't mean much has changed!' The heart and soul of the band is still intact and we're gonna continue."
Ever since Seinfeld left the band, Scott Roberts became his temporary replacement. The band is actively looking for a permanent replacement, but rest assured that the band is ready to put on the fight of their lives!

After Evan Seinfeld left Biohazard in June, the Heavy Music community was clueless as in whither he was going to start a new musical project or just take a break from making music in order to focus on his career as an entrepreneur.
Well, we are pleased to inform you that Seinfeld has joined forces with bassist Tony Campos (founding member of Static X, who also currently performs in Soulfly, Prong, Possessed, Asesino and Ministry), drummer Dustin Schoenhofer (Walls of Jericho), and Master Bike Builder, Lead Guitarist and Songwriter Rusty Coones. The name of this brand new force in the ever-evolving Heavy Metal world is Attika 7.
The band is currently working on their debut album, which they are scheduled to release later this year. They are also currently working on their first video for the single ‘Serial Killer’.
Attika 7 describes their lyrics and ideology as genuine and conveys a true American outlaw lifestyle. Their sound boasts very heavy, down-tuned and melodic harmonies, all the while boasting brutal hooks and grooves. The band draws from several musical influences, including their own additional projects, and has been compared to the likes of Black Sabbath, Metallica, Godsmack, Pantera, and White Zombie.
The timeless no-frills songwriting of Attika 7 is set apart from today’s homogenized, derivative copycat bands by so many things, but above all: authenticity. The story of how this band formed is one that is very hard to beat!
The majority of the album was written by lifetime biker and Attika 7 lead guitarist Rusty Coones while serving a seven-year federal prison sentence for a false conviction. Rather than rat on his friends, Rusty used the tension to teach himself how to play guitar in solitary confinement. The passion and street credibility in his lyrics and riffs speak to the underdogs of the world who will not break, will not bend, but stand against forever.
When Rusty called best friend and riding buddy Evan Seinfeld to check in on whether he knew of a singer who could join his band, Seinfeld immediately jumped in without hesitation. Since then, Rusty and Evan have been writing, recording, living and breathing Attika 7 and haven’t looked back.
Evan feels that Attika 7 is the beginning of a new chapter. This is what he had to say about his new musical project.
“As much as Biohazard has been the biggest part of my musical past and my main musical focus for more than two decades, it is time for me to do something new. It is time for me to cement my musical future. I continue to stand behind the ideals projected in songs I wrote like ‘Down For Life’... and philosophies like standing up for what you believe in no matter what and sticking by your true friends and family to the end! I have so many creative ideas that needed a new home to flourish and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a member of Attika 7!”
“It is time for me to go on to something exciting and fresh to pursue my dreams and expand my horizons in a more positive situation for me,” adds Evan. “Biohazard is a band that I personally conjured and founded in 1987 and helped me to realize many of my dreams, see the world, and connect with many fans everywhere. I hope to keep the memory of Biohazard where it belongs, in a place of dignity and respect!”
The rebellious anthems of Attika 7 speak volumes to the outlaws of society who refuse to compromise, refuse to fit in, refuse to play it safe, or refuse to sell out their beliefs, whatever they may be. Attika 7 is your own personal soundtrack to your badass lifestyle, as you speed past the cops on your beefed up Harley with your middle finger in the air!
