Three Years Since The Passing Of "The Man Of STEELE" - Tribute Available!

It has been three years since we got the terrible news of Peter Steele's passing from our good friend Juliya from Fuse TV. That gloomy night we were one of the first media sources to confirm the passing of Peter Steele. As soon as we posted this very sad news, we immediately got a Tweet from former Headbangers Ball host Riki Rachtman. Riki just like all of us, was in complete disbelief about Pete's death. Specially after everyone had witnessed the return of Peter Steele in full force! His last performance in New York City with Type O Negative was absolutely flawless and there was no doubt that he was completely sober the day of his passing.

A day after his passing, we headed over to 3 Of Cups in New York City were there was an unofficial tribute for Peter Steele with some of his close friends and fans. The night was gloomy yet magical. Why magical? Well, the room was full of energy and everyone was embracing each other with respect, while chanting in unison to Carnivore's and Type O Negative's classics. This immediately inspired us to start recoding some sound clips about the legacy and greatness of Peter Steele. This is how our Peter Steele tribute was born.

In order to make our tribute memorable, we decided to contact some close friends of Peter, and ask them to contribute some images of Peter, Type O Negative and Carnivore. Here is what we came up with:

Then at the end of 2010, their was a show that inevitably became a tribute to Peter Steele. Joining forces for a celebration of New York Rock were Life Of Agony, Biohazard, Vision Of Disorder and Seventh Void. The show took place at the Best Buy Theater in New York City, and once again the magic was in the air. This is when we decided to get some clips. Next thing we know, it turned into another tribute to Peter Steele! Here are those video clips:

Finally, here is Biohazard doing their song "Loss" in memory of Peter Steele!

REST IN PEACE Peter, we miss and love you! Thanks for re-igniting the Heavy Music scene! \m/

Peter Steele Tribute To Take Place This Weekend - Details Available!

This Sunday, April 14th, marks three years since the late great Peter Steele passed away from heart failure at the age of 48. In celebration of the legacy that the "green giant" left behind, our friends from Duff's Brooklyn have announced an annual meet-up at the bar. Here is a statement they released via their Facebook page:

"Peter's fans have turned April 14th into a annual meet-up at the bar, this year shouldn't be any different. This year's gathering will be held this Saturday night the 13th, into the Sunday the 14th. Any further details TBA."

As previously announced, Metal journalist Jeff Wagner is writing an authorized biography of Peter Steele called "Soul On Fire" and he is asking fans to help.

"If you're a fan, have recollections of meeting Peter, have photos, tattoos, or anything, PM the Facebook group HERE. This is a total labor of love and one that his followers will hopefully find an indispensable part of the Type O continuum. Stay Negative!"

Peter Steele Lives Forever In Our Hearts, As We Celebrate His 51st Birthday!

51 years ago, Peter Steele, the man made of steel with a heart of gold, was born in Red Hook, Brooklyn to a Roman Catholic family. His family is of Polish, Russian, Icelandic, and Scottish heritage. Pete was raised in the neighborhoods of Bensonhurst and Brighton Beach. He was the youngest of six children, with five older sisters. Pete's father fought in World War II and once he migrated to the United States, he worked at a shipyard.

Pete's musical career started when he started taking guitar lessons at the age of 12. He eventually moved on to playing bass. Pete worked for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation up until he began touring with Type O Negative in the summer of 1994. Whenever he was home from tour, Pete continued working with the Department of Parks and Recreation, since he liked his job so much.

On April 14, 2010, we got the terrible news of Peter Steele's passing from our good friend Juliya from Fuse TV. That gloomy night we were one of the first media sources to confirm the passing of Peter Steele. Members Of SLASH, TESTAMENT, CREED, BIOHAZARD & More React To The Tragic School Shooting In Connecticut!

Earlier today, tragedy struck at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. At least 27 people were killed, including 18 children, in a shooting, according to reports from The New York Times. Our hearts go out to the children, their families and all their friends.

Here is what various members of the Heavy Music world had to say about this:

"The Conn elementary school shooting is horrific. Those poor kids & their families. I'm speechless." - Slash

"We extend our condolences to the families of Newtown, CT who lost children and loved ones today. Our hearts are broken." - Ronnie James Dio's Team

"I don't care if you believe in God, Allah, Buddha, or anything for that matter. Pray for those children and their families!" - Mark Tremonti (CREED, ALTER BRIDGE & TREMONTI PROJECT)

"Just now getting latest news ie Connecticut. Unthinkably horrifying. Sad day for many & for the US. Enough already. What will the pro-gun constituency say now- to start arming 4th graders? Responsible Gun Ownership = Fine. Current System = Not Working." - Alex Skolnick (TESTAMENT)

"We are devastated to hear about the horrible events in Newtown, Conn. Our thoughts goes to everyone involved and deepest condolences to the victims families." - IN FLAMES

"Deeply shocked and sad on this horrible news today.... my heart goes out to all involved in this tragedy. I just want to go home now.... much love and respect! xxx" - Roy Mayorga (STONE SOUR)

"My hearts and prayers go out to the families of Newtown, CT... another sad day in our history!! Those days are growing faster than I ever imagined possible!" - Billy Graziadei (BIOHAZARD)

"Columbine high school in 1999 was a bunch of deranged and abused students that were taking revenge on their schoolmates for their "apparent abuse." Obviously, they were all deranged and committed a heinous act. But this is above and beyond anything that anyone has ever seen. And the fact that it was a team of shooters is just unfathomable to think about or comprehend. Loss for words right now... All of the victims are in my thoughts." - Jeff Kendrick (DEVILDRIVER)

"For the record, I am for the right to bear arms, but we should at least be able to have an honest discussion about the gun obsession in the US. I apologize for the venting, but it just pisses me that this keeps happening over and over again. It's a tough, complex problem. - Doc Coyle (GOD FORBID)

"SO MANY LOW LIFE SCUMBAG PIECE OF SHITS IN THIS COUNTRY!!!!!!!" - Marc Rizzo (SOULFLY & CAVALERA CONSPIRACY)

"My heart goes out to all the families and children affected in Connecticut." - Full Metal Jackie

"Really what can be done? Do we need barbed wire and guards at Elementary school. We can't remove all the guns. Tell me what can we do?" - Rikki Rachtman

BIOHAZARD Enter The Studio Without Evan Seinfeld; Band To Record Follow Up To 'Reborn In Defiance'!

NYHC legends BIOHAZARD have enter the studio to begin writing and demoing the follow-up to this year's 'Reborn In Defiance'. The band decided to start working on NEW music, since there were a lot of uncontrollable situations that kept the bands latest album 'Reborn In Defiance' (released ONLY in Europe on January 20 via Nuclear Blast Records). Two situations that really affected the progress of the band were:

- The departure of singer/bassist Evan Seinfeld from the band right after the completion of 'Reborn In Defiance'

- Not being able to release the record in the United States and other territories for reasons beyond the bands control.

As soon as Seinfeld left the band, the remaining members of BIOHAZARD - Billy Graziadei, Bobby Hambel and Danny Schuler - recruited Scott Robers to take Seinfeld's place. Roberts, who played on the band's 2005 "Means To An End" album and has been part of the BIOHAZARD extended family ever since.

Stay tuned for more BIOHAZARD news!

BIOHAZARD: Fan Loses Consciousness At The Bands Concert In Slovakia - Video Available!

This past Sunday, July 15, a fan lost consciousness after stage diving during BIOHAZARD's concert in Kosice, Slovakia. Thankfully, after noticing the passed out fan on the floor of the venue, the bands guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei immediately stopped the show and called for the crowd to move forward so that the fan could receive assistance. He told the audience over the PA system, "If you're gonna jump off stage, you've gotta catch each other. We're fucking brothers, we're fucking sisters. One fucking scene. I don't want anybody to get hurt."

According to reports from other people attending the concert, the fan in question did not sustain any serious injuries and he regained consciousness a short time later.

Today, Graziadei posted the following comment on his Facebook page:

"I GREW UP stage diving (as most of us did), it was the biggest challenge at a show; getting past security, pledging your love for the band you were watching by launching yourself off the stage! Sometimes I was caught but more times than not, I wasn't. I have the scars from stitches and many concussions I carry with pride as "war wounds" from shows. Like many others, I've spent the night in the hospital after shows more times than I care to remember. Do I regret it? F*ck no! Just like all of my friends/family around the world from OUR subculture of which I proudly consider my self part of, I carry these scars and memories with pride as we ALL do. Is a sad thing when someone get's hurt and it pains me to watch this video. I'm happy to say our friend David is OK, he is home from the hospital! With the sad event that went down in Czech Republic, our hearts go out to everyone involved! I'm glad this story had a happier ending!"

BIOHAZARD's European Tour (remaining tour dates):

17.07. Cham – L.A. (Germany) + SIX REASONS TO KILL
20.07. Tokaj – Hegyalja Festival (Hungary)
21.07. Jarocin – Festival (Poland)
22.07. Oberhausen – Devilside (Germany)

Evan Seinfeld Breaks His Silence On Why He Left BIOHAZARD To Join ATTIKA 7!

Former BIOHAZARD frontman Evan Seinfeld (now in ATTIKA7), has had quiet a career in the entertainment industry! At the young age of 17 he formed BIOHAZARD, a Hardcore Punk band that riskily crossed over into Heavy Metal. After many years of placing New York City culture in the International map of Heavy Music, Seinfeld started looking for other ways to grow as an artist. This is when he started venturing into television and later into adult film. While he is proud of all that he has accomplished, music is where his heart is!

When Seinfeld left BIOHAZARD earlier this year, right after the completion of the bands NEW album 'Reborn in Defiance', the entire Heavy Music community was shocked to find out that Seinfeld had quit the band he founded in 1987. While the reasons for his departure didn't change the evolution of the band, their fans were left wondering the reason behind Seinfeld's decision. We recently had the chance to chat with Seinfeld about why he left the band to join ATTIKA 7, and why he is more excited than ever before about his upcoming album with his NEW band.

ATTIKA 7’s NEW album, 'Blood Of My Enemies', is set for a July 31, 2012 release and features ex-Biohazard vocalist Evan Seinfeld, lead guitarist, notable songwriter and famed (Sons of Anarchy) motorcycle builder Rusty Coones, and bassist Tony Campos, founding member of Static X, who also currently performs in Soulfly, Prong, Possessed, Asesino and Ministry. The band recorded 'Blood of My Enemies' with legendary producer MUDROCK (Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack).

Joining the band recently, are guitarist Zach Broderick (formerly with Nonpoint), drummer Tommy Holt (ex-UPO) and legendary Kyuss bassist Scott Reeder.

Here is the first part of our exclusive interview with Evan Seinfeld! Sit back, relax and crank it up!

We have a full interview with Evan Seinfeld coming soon, but for now here is a small preview. BIOHAZARD Reveal Contest Winner For "Vengeance Is Mine" Video & Announce Summer Tour Dates!

Hardcore veterans Biohazard have chosen Travis Campbell’s video for “Vengeance Is Mine” as the grand prize winner of their music video contest. Using their Facebook page, the band challenged fans to create their own music video for a track off of their MEW album 'REBORN IN DEFIANCE'.  Submissions were uploaded to Youtube, and the band unanimously agreed on Travis’ entry as the first official video for 'REBORN IN DEFIANCE'.

Vocalist / guitarist Billy Graziadei says, “Without the help of extra footage, Travis took some classic imagery from our previous videos and made it all work for Vengeance is Mine... pure awesomeness!  Be on the lookout for some great things to come from him!"

The winning video consists of clips from the band’s music videos from previous years cleverly synched so they appear to be performing the NEW song, “Vengeance Is Mine”, interspersed with footage of social strife throughout history. Watch it now!

Travis explains, “I have been a Biohazard fan since the early 90s and have always been influenced by their videos and social commentary and wanted to show my respect and appreciation for a band that has helped me get through some rough times throughout the years.  I started watching all the old Bio vids and got the idea of taking all the material and cutting it in a NEW way and adding in civil unrest footage from Occupy Wall Street, the Civil Rights Era, and other events like Bloody Sunday.  The hardest part was getting the synch right, having Billy from 1994 singing to a phrase in 2012 proved quite challenging!  In the end I am proud of the video and I am elated that Biohazard likes it as well.”

Travis will be rewarded with the “DFL Grand Prize”, which guarantees him free Biohazard tickets and AAA passes for himself and a friend to all Biohazard shows, for life.  First runner up Randy Memoli (“Reborn”) and second runner up Kareem Girgis (Come Alive) will each receive a ticket to all Biohazard shows for life.

Billy adds, “We got a lot of great submissions that all rocked! Thank you to everyone who spent their time and talent on making their own great videos, DFL forever!”

Biohazard recently added a string of July dates to their summer touring of select European festivals and will continue to tour internationally throughout the year in support of REBORN IN DEFIANCE.  The summer dates are listed below.

BIOHAZARD Create Badass T-Shirt To Help Rebuild Schools In Japan - Click To Help!

Biohazard & HHF (Hardcore Help Foundation) joined forces to create a badass t-shirt that represents what true Hardcore is all about: HELPING one another. All proceeds will go to the rebuilding of schools in Japan. Why Japan? Well, about a year ago the citizens of Japan suffered one of the biggest natural tragedies in human history. Not only were they hit with a massive earthquake (9.0 Mw on the Richter Scale), they were also crushed by a ridiculous tsunami. It is said that the Japanese earthquake/tsunami is the fourth worst natural disaster in human history.

PLEASE HELP THE JAPANESE PEOPLE TO GET THEIR KIDS BACK IN SCHOOL!

BIOHAZARD Premiere Music Video For "Vengeance Is Mine"

The highly anticipated ninth studio album by Biohazard is called 'Reborn In Defiance' and is available now everywhere, except in North America. The band has recently unleashed their NEW music video for "Vengeance Is Mine". Directed by Travis Campbell, the video features footage of the band throughout the years doing what they do best: destroy ear drums every time they step on a stage! The rebellious video also showcases the state of humanity and how things keep rolling in a cycle of self destruction. What are we talking about? Check the video out and you will understand what we mean.

'Reborn In Defiance' marks the first time in 18 years that the band records an album with their original lineup (Evan Seinfeld, Bobby Hambel, Billy Graziadei & Danny Schuler). The bands ninth studio album was Produced Toby Wright (Alice in Chains, Metallica).
