Detroit Michigan's melodic Death Metal outfit THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER recently wrapped up their first headline run of 2012. Joining THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER were NILE, SKELETONWITCH, and HOUR OF PENANCE. During the tours recent tour stop at Irving Plaza in New York City, we captured these killer images!
Today Ohio Metal goliaths SKELETONWITCH are streaming a NEW song called "Tragedy of Days" at Prosthetic Records’ official bandcamp page. Never formally released on record in the States, the tune was recorded during the 'Forever Abomination' sessions with producer Matt Hyde and appeared on the Decibel Magazine Flexi-Disc series (Oct. 2011 issue) as well as the Japanese edition of 'Forever Abomination'.
Comments guitarist Scott Hedrick of the track: “’Tragedy of Days’ was an epic instrumental by [guitarist] Nate [Garnette]'s former band Serkesoron. They disbanded after the untimely passing of Serkesoron's frontman, Thom Wright. Shortly after the band called it quits, SKELETONWITCH was born. We re-recorded the track and Chance [Garnette] added vocals as a tribute to Thom, immortalizing him in song."
In related news, the new vinyl reissues of the SKELETONWITCH's breakthrough releases 'Breathing The Fire' and 'Beyond The Permafrost' are now shipping from the Prosthetic Store. Both are available in three variants -- splatter, half-and-half and 180-gram black wax -- and feature gatefold Stoughton "tip-on" record jackets. The black vinyl versions of both albums will be available in select retail stores on April 10.
Additionally, the band recently unveiled a NEW video for the song “The Infernal Resurrection,” which comes off their The studio offering, 'Forever Abomination'.
SKELETONWITCH return to the last week with The Black Dahlia Murder, Nile
and labelmates Hour Of Penance for a four-week tour that concludes at
the New England Metal And Hardcore Festival. This marks the group's
first North American tour action of 2012. The band will take a brief
break before heading overseas for a stretch of Euro dates. Confirmed

Today Ohio Metal titans SKELETONWITCH unveil their brand NEW video for “The Infernal Resurrection” via Metal Injection.net. The song comes off latest album, 'Forever Abomination' which cracked the Billboard Top 200, as well as Decibel's Top 40 of 2011 and finds the band doing what they do best: slaying ears in the live arena.
Like Satan himself set loose in the hallowed halls of Heavy Metal, these Athens-based headbangers careen wildly through the music’s history, gleefully destroying and setting flame to every genre along the way, only stopping at the forefront of today’s Metal scene to look back and watch that fucker burn -- and then piss on the flames. No other band has tapped into the fire, fury, and frost of all things Metal like SKELETONWITCH. Released last October through Prosthetic Records, 'Forever Abomination' continues to raise eyebrows with its relentless, fuck-all attack. In an 8/10 rating of the record, Decibel Magazine named SKELETONWITCH, “one of the most likeable bands in Metal,” Terrorizer dubbed Forever Abomination a “masterclass in modern Metal,” Revolver noted its “bad-ass Thrash attack,” while Pitchfork championed the offering calling it “exciting, skilled, fist-pumping, true-to-life stuff…”
SKELETONWITCH return to the road today beginning with a warm-up show in Cleveland before joining forces with The Black Dahlia Murder, Nile and labelmates Hour Of Penance for a four-week tour that concludes at the New England Metal And Hardcore Festival. In other SKELETONWITCH news, the final color variant of the forthcoming Breathing The Fire vinyl reissue -- which, unlike the sold-out initial pressings of the album, comes in a gatefold Stoughton "tip-on" jacket -- has arrived at Prosthetic's warehouse. Check out a picture of the two-color, half-and-half LP, which is limited to 125 copies below.
180-gram black and standard-weight "fire splatter" wax are also available. The former will arrive in select retail stores on April 10; the latter and the half-and-half LP can both be pre-ordered at the PROSTHETIC STORE. The Black Dahlia Murder's long-awaited video for "Moonlight Equilibrium" is now available for your viewing pleasure! The video is a David Brodsky-directed nod to old-school horror films with a much more graphic approach. The video's content aptly fits the lycanthropic lyric concept set against a bawdy Victorian back drop. The result: a chilling and entertaining slice of mini-horror that Metal fans and horror-enthusiasts will enjoy. Watch Moonlight Equilibrium right now.

So far 2011 has been a great year for Heavy Music thanks to some pretty headbanging bad-ass new releases. By no means are this the best records of 2011, since there are obviously a lot more new releases coming your way! But all this records are an instant addiction for your ears.
In no particular order, all this records are worth a spin!
1) Amon Amarth "Surtur Rising": The monarchs of Swedish Death Metal Amon Amarth released their new album titled "Surtur Rising" on March 20th via Metal Blade Records. Their eighth studio album is a head crushing very well written album, which lead them to hit the top of the charts. The band is currently gearing up for the second trek of the "An Evening with Amon Amarth" North American tour (Click here for tour-dates).
"Surtur Rising" is the follow-up to their punishing 2008 release, "Twilight Of The Thunder God". An album that Revolver Magazine listed as number 7 on their Top 20 albums of 2008. Metal Sucks defined this album as: "a bottomless gauntlet of riffs that the band endlessly takes gargantuan swigs from, sounding both lush and emotive as well as skull crushingly heavy… every goddamn one is a chest-beating anthem." The famous Time Out New York noted that "Amon Amarth plays some of the most unabashedly epic metal you’re likely to find these days."
2) Cavalera Conspiracy "Blunt Force Trauma": Whenever you put the Cavalera brothers (Max and Iggor) inside a jam room, nobody is safe! As we all know, the Cavalera brothers formed the legendary Brazilian Heavy Metal band Sepultura in 1984, and single handily changed the phase of Heavy Music forever. Cavalera Conspiracy's second album is titled "Blunt Force Trauma" and it was released on March 29th via Roadrunner Records.
The only missing element that Cavalera Conspiracy were lacking on "Inflikted", was the redefining of their musical craft that can only be done once a band tours endlessly and learns about each others musical strengths and weaknesses. This is exactly what they proved on their new album "Blunt Force Trauma". Currently the band is returning home after a very successful European Tour.
3) The Black Dahilia Murder "Ritual": Their fifth studio album was released on June 17th via Metal Blade Records, and is a sense crushing experience in which they proved that the band is sounding heavier and tighter than ever ever before. After a few weeks since its release, this album is on the way to becoming their most successful release to date. The album was once again produced by Mark Lewis (Trivium, Bury Your Dead, Deicide), who also worked on 2009's "Deflorate".
The band will be headlining the 2011 Summer Slaughter Tour (Click here for tour-dates), which promises to be one of the heaviest tours of the year. The event will also feature Whitechapel, Darkest Hour, Six Feet Under, Dying Fetus, As Blood Runs Black, Oceano, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Powerglove.
4) Unearth "Darkness In The Light": Ever since the mighty Unearth surfaced in the Heavy Music scene in 1998, they have kept delivering their global audience passionate music full of crushing riffs, and with highly energetic elements of chaos. With their fifth studio album titled "Darkness In the Light", released in North America on July 5th via Metal Blade Records, Unearth has proven once again that they sonically have it what it takes to keep flying the Heavy Music flag up high with pride and plenty of adrenaline.
Produced by Adam Dutkiewicz from Killswitch Engage and Times of Grace, who has produced their previous three records, and co-produced by guitarist Ken Susi. "Darkness In the Light" possesses Unearth's signature sound and at first glimpse what stands out the most are the vocals that Trevor Phipps laid down on tape. The band is currently on the road as part of the 2011 Rockstar Mayhem Festival (Click for tour-dates)
5) A Pale Horse Named Death "And Hell Will Follow Me": Sal Abruscato is synonymous to what the New York City Heavy Music scene represents: hard uncompromised work, original song writing, and not holding back or limiting yourself when creating music. On the new album by A Pale Horse Named Death titled "And Hell Will Follow Me" released in the USA on June 16th via SPV/Steamhammer, the groove factor is in full effect and at first glance it brings back the memory of when we first listened to "Dirt", the classic album by the legendary band Alice In Chains. However, the more we listened to it, the darker it got. Even darker than Alice In Chains? Absolutely!
Smartly enough, Sal consciously stayed away from writing anything similar to the awesome music of Life Of Agony or Type O Negative, since he knew the music will carry a similar vibe. As we all know, the vibe of the Brooklyn based bands has always been a raw energetic roller coaster that can be dangerous at times. In times when there is a need for a fresh band to rise up from the streets of New York City, we truly believe that A Pale Horse Named Death is that band! The band will be touring various parts of Europe this August (Click here for tour-dates)

Metal Blade Records has always represented Heavy Music worldwide by bringing to the masses some badass music! One thing that sets them apart is the fact that Brian Slagel (founder and CEO) treats the bands like family and works non-stop to make sure that all bands succeed. In case you didn't know this if it wasn't for Slagel, Metallica and Slayer would have probably never had their big "break".
Since Metal Blade Records recognizes the importance of the Heavy Music market in Latin America, this fall three of the most badass bands of the Metal Blade roster are taking over Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Venezuela and Mexico! The tour will begin on December 3rd in Sao Paulo, Brazil and will wrap up on December 13th in Mexico City, Mexico. Here is the OFFICIAL press release:
"South American fans are notoriously some of the most diehard Metal heads in the world and the bands are excited for this tour to get started. Cannibal Corpse vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher comments on the tour: "In every interview, I am asked where the sickest and best Death Metal fans are and it is hands down South America. I've seen kids in the front row bleeding and losing their minds, they are all crazy in the best way possible. It's hands down my favorite place to play and I can't wait to come back!" The Black Dahlia Murder vocalist Trevor Strnad adds, "We are very excited to be a part of this monstrous South American tour. It is always a pleasure to play alongside the almighty Cannibal Corpse... but in South America?! The shows are going to be absolutely insane, without a doubt. To the South American fans: prepare for an unearthly ritual!" Guitarist Brian Eschbach comments further, "We are extremely excited for another chance to support the almighty Cannibal Corpse!!! It has always been great touring with them. We especially look forward to seeing them DESTROY South America and Mexico City. iViva la Smash!"
Cannibal Corpse's latest release, the Global Evisceration DVD is available now, and includes hours of behind the scenes footage of the band as they tour Europe and contains two full live shows from the US.
