Three Years Since The Passing Of "The Man Of STEELE" - Tribute Available!
It has been three years since we got the terrible news of Peter Steele's passing from our good friend Juliya from Fuse TV. That gloomy night we were one of the first media sources to confirm the passing of Peter Steele. As soon as we posted this very sad news, we immediately got a Tweet from former Headbangers Ball host Riki Rachtman. Riki just like all of us, was in complete disbelief about Pete's death. Specially after everyone had witnessed the return of Peter Steele in full force! His last performance in New York City with Type O Negative was absolutely flawless and there was no doubt that he was completely sober the day of his passing.
A day after his passing, we headed over to 3 Of Cups in New York City were there was an unofficial tribute for Peter Steele with some of his close friends and fans. The night was gloomy yet magical. Why magical? Well, the room was full of energy and everyone was embracing each other with respect, while chanting in unison to Carnivore's and Type O Negative's classics. This immediately inspired us to start recoding some sound clips about the legacy and greatness of Peter Steele. This is how our Peter Steele tribute was born.
In order to make our tribute memorable, we decided to contact some close friends of Peter, and ask them to contribute some images of Peter, Type O Negative and Carnivore. Here is what we came up with:
Then at the end of 2010, their was a show that inevitably became a tribute to Peter Steele. Joining forces for a celebration of New York Rock were Life Of Agony, Biohazard, Vision Of Disorder and Seventh Void. The show took place at the Best Buy Theater in New York City, and once again the magic was in the air. This is when we decided to get some clips. Next thing we know, it turned into another tribute to Peter Steele! Here are those video clips:
Finally, here is Biohazard doing their song "Loss" in memory of Peter Steele!
REST IN PEACE Peter, we miss and love you! Thanks for re-igniting the Heavy Music scene! \m/

Peter Steele Lives Forever In Our Hearts, As We Celebrate His 51st Birthday!
51 years ago, Peter Steele, the man made of steel with a heart of gold, was born in Red Hook, Brooklyn to a Roman Catholic family. His family is of Polish, Russian, Icelandic, and Scottish heritage. Pete was raised in the neighborhoods of Bensonhurst and Brighton Beach. He was the youngest of six children, with five older sisters. Pete's father fought in World War II and once he migrated to the United States, he worked at a shipyard.
Pete's musical career started when he started taking guitar lessons at the age of 12. He eventually moved on to playing bass. Pete worked for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation up until he began touring with Type O Negative in the summer of 1994. Whenever he was home from tour, Pete continued working with the Department of Parks and Recreation, since he liked his job so much.

VOTE Now For The Top 15 Songs Of VH1 Classic's "America's Hard 100 Countdown"!
Just under two weeks ago, VH1 Classic began releasing a series of viewer polls that would ultimately determine what songs would separate themselves from the pack in America’s Hard 100. Over one million (!!!) votes were cast by you, THE FANS, to determine which songs deserved to be at the top of our list of the best Hard Rock and Heavy Metal songs of all-time. Wait a minute! Just over one million votes?! Totally kidding!
Now they have sorted through all of the votes, analyzed the numbers, and now they need your help again in determining the FINAL RANKINGS of America’s Hard 100.
They have come up with a list of 15 songs, 10 of which won their respective polls — a healthy round of applause for:
- Dream Theater‘s “Pull Me Under”
- Type O Negative‘s “Black No. 1”
- Bon Jovi‘s “Living On A Prayer”
- Cinderella‘s “Gypsy Road”
- Dio‘s “Holy Diver”
- Rush‘s “Limelight”
- Poison‘s “Nothin’ But A Good Time”
- Guns N’ Roses‘ “November Rain”
- Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhoads’ “Crazy Train”
- Black Sabbath‘s “Paranoid”
Here are 5 songs which they are deeming wildcards. Each of these wildcard songs reaped more votes than all the other non-poll winning songs, and might have won their respective polls had they been placed among a different group of songs:
- AC/DC‘s “Back In Black”
- Accept‘s “Balls To The Wall”
- Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City”
- Megadeth‘s “Sweating Bullets”
- Poison’s “Talk Dirty To Me”
So, with that said, this are the final 15 songs. The same rules apply this time around; vote early and often for as many of these 15 as you think are deserving, and you can always click Return To Poll to vote again. The polls will close on Tuesday, October 2 at 4 PM ET, and you’ll be able to tune in to watch America’s Hard 100 on VH1 Classic in November to see the final results.

A Pale Horse Named Death To Stream Brooklyn, New York Show LIVE!
A Pale Horse Named Death are kicking of 2012 with a special hometown show in Brooklyn, NY at The Knitting Factory. The show which will take place tomorrow (Friday, January 6th), will also be streaming in full courtesy of APHND, The Knitting Factory and LiveStream.com. The Live Stream of the concert can be accessed at the link below.
In other APHND news, the band has parted ways with guitarist Bobby Hambel, and has announced a replacement. Frontman Sal Abruscato commented about the lineup change.
"Due to conflicting schedules with Biohazard, Bobby Hambel is unable to tour any further with A Pale Horse Named Death. We wish Bobby and Biohazard all the great success they deserve on their upcoming release in January 2012. Eddie Heedles has been chosen as the new replacement for Bobby. Eddie is a shredding guitarist who has worked with the likes of Corey Glover (Living Colour), T.M. Stevens, Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Sekond Skyn and The White Chocolate Experience."
APHND is the brainchild of Brooklyn, NY native Sal Abruscato, and sounds like Alice in Chains mysteriously sneaking up behind Type O Negative with a butcher knife while being filmed for a future episode of "Law & Order".

Peter Steele Lives Forever In Our Hearts!
50 years ago, Peter Steele, the man made of steel with a heart of gold, was born in Red Hook, Brooklyn to a Roman Catholic family.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Peter, we miss and love you! Thanks for re-igniting the Heavy Music scene! \m/

Sal Abruscato Discusses A Pale Horse Named Death's Success & Announces Brooklyn Show!
Last Friday, December 9th, we had the privilege of catching the hometown debut show of A Pale Horse Named Death. The event took place at The Studio at Webster Hall in New York City and it was an unforgettable night. Sal Abruscato was joined by drummer Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative and Seventh Void), guitarist/vocalist Matt Brown (Seventh Void), and bassist Eric Morgan. The band's stage show was flawless, and they collectively sounded tighter than a virgin. If you haven't checked out A Pale Horse Named Death out, you are punishing your ears.
Right after the bands face melting session, we had the chance to once again interview Sal Abuscato. This time he talked about the band's success in 2011, as well as what's in store for A Pale Horse Named Death in 2012. Here is what went down.

Type O Negative to Release Deluxe Vinyl Box!
After the death of Type O Negative's charismatic front-man Peter Steele on April 14, 2010, the herds of Type O fanatics knew that it was the end of the bands legacy. Lets face it, Peter Steele is to blame for the unique direction that "The Drab Four" (in homage to The Beatles' "Fab Four" moniker) adopted ever since their inception in the late 80s.
Today, it was announced that Roadrunner Records will be releasing a special Type O Negative vinyl box set exclusively via independent retailers on Black Friday, which falls on November 25th this year.
As the first band to achieve platinum status on the Roadrunner roster, Type O Negative didn't rewrite the rules. They simply tore the rule book up, burned what was left of it and did whatever the hell they wanted with the smoldering ash. The result was nothing short of brilliant, as they combined dirge-like doom with head down, gothy grooves, all while retaining the sort of signature melody that made their songs utterly memorable, infesting your brain like a virus.
