Sweden's AVATAR Performs In The United States For The First Time Ever - Review Available!

Yesterday (January 30), AVATAR performed in U.S. soil for the very first time in the bands 10+ year career. This very special concert took place in New York City at The Studio At Webster Hall in front of a pretty enthusiastic crowd. The band made their presence be felt from the moment they stepped on stage and left the crowd wanting more when they had to finalize their ferocious display of Swedish melodic Death Metal infused with elements of Rock N' Roll.

We had the chance to chat with the bands vocalist Johannes Eckerström right after the band was finished with their set, and he couldn't wipe off the smile off his face. During the interview, which is coming soon, Eckerström commented on the bands first show in the U.S.:

"The reason why it took this long for us to come to America was because we were waiting for the right way to do this. Playing here is very expensive... it's not like when we go to play in Denmark, for example. We really needed the support of a label, so we could do this the right way. Many of us have known each other since our teen years, playing covers and such, so we have always focused on our music first. We are happy to finally be playing here!"

The band released their newest record, 'Black Waltz' last year to much critical acclaim. "Black Waltz's comparable musical style and spare production brings a fresh, raw immediacy to these ten stellar songs." says OUTBURN Magazine. The band has been making waves in Europe with multiple appearances on festivals like Sweden Rock Festival, Metalcamp (Slovenia) and Metaltown (Sweden). AVATAR has supported acts such as Helloween, In Flames and Megadeth over the years as well. Now it is America's turn!

The band is about to hit the road with LACUNA COIL and SEVENDUST, make sure you don't miss their set. They rock!

SUFFOCATION Takes You Behind The Scenes Of The Video For "As Grace Descends" & Discuss Touring Plans!

On Saturday, January 5, extreme Death Metallers SUFFOCATION rang in the NEW Year in style! The "Heavy Metal Mecca", Duff's Brooklyn, became the video set for their NEW single "As Grace Descends", a crushing cut taken from their latest sonic assault: 'Pinnacle Of Bedlam' (set to be released on February 15 in Europe, February 19 in North America, via Nuclear Blast Records).

The video was directed by The Studio's Tommy Jones and should see the light the day around the time that the record drops. For now, here is a behind the scenes look at the video shoot, along with an exclusive interview with SUFFO's own Terrance Hobbs (guitar) and Derek Boyer (bass).

Watch and share this with all your friends, and make sure you pick up one of the best Death Metal albums in recent memory: 'Pinnacle Of Bedlam'.

NOTE: SUFFOCATION's North American tour will run from April 3rd to the 28th!

'Pinnacle Of Bedlam' features 10 genre-defining-bone-crushing tracks and also marks the return of drummer Dave Culross, who played with the band previously on their 'Despise The Sun' EP. Founding member and former drummer Mike Smith also makes a special guest appearance on the re-recorded Breeding the Spawn track, “Beginning of Sorrow.”

Watch KRISIUN's NEW Video For "The Will To Potency" Now!

On their last tour across the US, the Três Irmãos of KRISIUN filmed a new video for "The Will To Potency", a song from their latest studio album, The Great Execution. The director and producer of the video, Tommy Jones, comments:

"The band had originally contacted me to do a live video on the 'Conquerors of the World Tour'. We filmed every night live, however the day before the last show of the tour, we had a day off on a drive through New Mexico towards the last show in Texas. I had the idea of filming the band out in the middle of the desert because I love that area and always wanted to do a desert shoot. So I convinced the driver to pull over in the middle of nowhere at 9AM. We filmed for about 2 and a half hours out there, using a laptop as audio playback. We caught the attention of the Mexican Border Patrol who came to check out what we were doing. They sent about 3 SUVs out to check us out. Once they made sure we weren't doing anything 'too illegal' they got a kick out of it and were taking pictures on their iPhones because they said in all their years, they haven't seen a band set up in the middle of the desert.

"When it was all said and done, we filmed every night on tour, but it ended up that the majority of the video was filmed on that day off in the middle of the New Mexican desert in about 2.5 hours.

"It was a fun video, and I'm glad we got to do it this way, we all are really stoked how the desert stuff came out."

Watch this Tarantino-esque video now, courtesy of No Clean Singing.com.

European tour dates for KRISIUN will soon be announced, so stay tuned for an update coming soon!

A Thanksgiving METAL Feast!

Before you head over to spend Thanksgiving Day with your families, come give thanks to Metal at the "Thanksgiving METAL Feast"! The event will take place on Friday, September 18th at the legendary Webster Hall (The Studio) and will feature 4 hard hitting bands that will be the perfect soundtrack to THE party to be at before Thanksgiving Day!

Lineup:

Resolution 15: A band whose sound is rooted in Thrash, Metal, Hardcore, Punk, and Classical Music that uses violins in place of guitars to disseminate their egalitarian message of global change.

- Wrench: Originally formed in the early 90's, founding members John Musto (Guitar)and Case (Bass) searched for a new sound in Heavy Music and found it when John put down his guitar and picked up a bass in an attempted to create the heaviest sound imaginable.

- Nostrom: An Industrial Heavy Metal band from Colombia, based in Queens NY. Formed in 2005, after analyzing the flood of generic music that exists within the tri-state area, Nostrom decided to go against the grain and create a blend of music that attracts your ears and then punches them without remorse.

- Iratetion: Being driven towards creating their own music, the Milano brothers did just that. Ismael and Ghork started writing for a project that didn't have a name at the time. While one brother was living in Venezuela and the other in New Jersey, the desire of writing became reality. They began to create music in a way many musicians do these days with the help of sending files to each other over the inter...net. Ismael handled duties of guitars/bass/vocals so they could be layered over Ghork's drum recordings that were sent from Venezuela. Not long afterward, the project was soon to be named Iratetion.

Hosted by Jo Schüftan from Horns Up Rocks!

Cost: $12 prior to the show, $13 the day of the show. Tickets available online here!

Ages: 19+

The New York City Heavy Music Coallition

On Saturday, June 18, 2011, history was written at Webster Hall (The Ritz) at the No Remission "Through Blackened Skies" record release show. When we arrived at the venue at 4 o'clock to conduct interviews for an upcoming DVD that showcases the state of the New York City Heavy Music scene, the sun was shining and everyone was really pumped about this very special night for the entire community. After chatting with some of the bands and with some key figures from the scene, it was time for Left In Ruins to do what they do best: deliver a crushing display of brutal Metal filled of very technical guitar parts and positive energy!

After grabbing a few beers and greeting the crowd, the surprise of the night took center stage. Arcane Malevolence performed a highly energetic set and got the pit initiated for the storm that was about to unravel at Webster Hall. After a few minutes of peace inside the pit, Alekhine's Gun melted everyone's faces with their furious flavor of Heavy Metal! Goddamn, these guys are getting good and sounding tighter and tighter. The sense of unity that this band possesses is a message that is transmitted to the pit army that stands strong whenever they step on a stage.

Closing this historical night was No Remission who presented New York City with their brand new album titled "Through Blackened Skies" (Click to read our album review), we had personally seen this band live and they impressed the hell out of our ears. The band not only possesses great stage presence and highly technical songs, but they play each song with balls and make the pit army lose their minds!

At the end of the night the dance floor had a lot of blood, sweat and tears, and a lot of happy people! What is going in New York City right now with Heavy Music is blood rushing and extremely exciting. We can't wait to see the DVD which will include every bands performance and plenty of interviews! Stay tuned horns up throwers!

No Remission "Through Blackened Skies" record release

At present time there are many great "unsigned" bands that are making a lot of noise within the tri-state area Heavy Music scene. It is hard to grasp on the fact that only a few years back, the scene was diluted and bands were not working together like they are doing right now. Prove of this is how No Remission, Alekhine's Gun, Left In Ruins, and Arcane Malevolence, with the help of their fans, came up with enough money to shoot and track the upcoming No Remission "Through Blackened Skies" record release show.

The gameplan is to produce a documentary that showcases the current state of the tri-state area Heavy Music scene. Horns Up Rocks will be sponsoring the event, and our founder Jo Schüftan will be there conducting all interviews for the DVD. Here are all the show details:

Brutal Bitches Productions presents the No Remission "Through Blackened Skies" record release show!
