\m/ BIOGRAPHY:
It takes much more than a few typical classifications of genre and image for a band like Embrace Agony to make a personal connection with people. This 5 piece outfit is a sonic representation of what happens when hope dies and anger, sorrow, and dread take over. Formed in Brooklyn NY in early 2008, this band has worked real hard to establish itself in New York City’s underground music scene, relentlessly winning fans to its art through live shows and a restless DIY work ethic. Inspired by the likes of Tool, Mudvayne, Lamb of God, In Flames and As I Lay Dying, Embrace Agony showcases their own aggressive brand of melody-infused Metal.
In early 2011, Embrace Agony completed recording their EP entitled “Path to Redemption” with producer Bryan Goldsman (Emmure, Endwell). With a release scheduled in May, the band organized a Record Release Party. This event was sponsored by a known local Heavy Music showcase company No Mercy Metal and was also a benefit for Japan Tsunami Relief with portion of proceedings donated to help the victims of tsunami. As a result of this performance, Embrace Agony was chosen to be featured on the front page of Reverbnation.com for the second time in less than a year. Additionally, the band has released a music video for their song “Untouchable”.
The band went through a few lineup changes before its current lineup was solidified in late 2010. Founding members, drummer Kiyomi Kubo and guitarist Ivan Serge, added vocalist Christian Contello and bassist Nuno Oliveira, who also provided clean vocal duties. In January 2011, guitarist Matt Stirrat joined the fold. With a full lineup the band completed their new EP, and now is determined to conquer new frontiers. "Our goal is to create music that people can feel and relate to, but also allows them to interpret the songs for themselves" explains Serge.
