DevilDriver Bassist To Miss "Metalliance Tour" Due To Illness - Official Statement Available!
As previously reported, DevilDriver bassist Aaron "Bubble" Patrick was hospitalized with pneumonia. After undergoing a series of tests, he has been diagnosed with Streptococcus Pneumonia (a very serious condition). As a result, he will not be able to headline the 2012 "Metalliance Tour" with his band DevilDriver. The DevilDriver camp has announced that "Bubble's" former Bury Your Dead bandmate Chris Towing, will be filling in for the entire tour!
Here is the Official statement from Jane, who is "Bubble's" mother:
"The Streptococcus pneumonia has damaged Aaron's liver, kidneys and bone marrow. He has been able to cough up a fair amount of infection, but his lungs are still very full. Along with the pneumonia, there have also been a series of side effects that are taking a toll on his body. A horrible case of pancreatitis has developed, which caused his fever to persist. He is still dependent on oxygen and cannot be released until he can breathe sufficiently and the oxygen is not required.
"So now his release date may be pushed back until early next week, March 20? Then he must rest at least a week before getting on a plane, as the lungs cannot take the pressure. I am hoping to get him home on a non-stop flight around the 30th of March. He will have to again rest for weeks. The doctor told me it was touch and go before I got [to the hospital]. We are hopeful for release early next week.
"Prayers, please!"
We wish "Bubble" a quick and healthy recovery! Please send him your Metallic vibes!

Original KITTIE Lineup To Reunite To Jam 'SPIT'?
Badass Metallers KITTIE might be planning a reunion of the original lineup! The all-girl Canadian Metal band that changed the face of Heavy Music in the mid 90s, might be cooking up a series of reunion shows that would feature the original lineup: Morgan Lander (Vocals, Guitar), Mercedes Lander (Drums), Fallon Bowman (Duitar) and Tanya Candler (Bass). And get this, they would perform there gold-certified 1999 debut album, 'Spit', in its entirety. This is the Twit that woke up this rumor:
"If we did shows with the original lineup (@fallonbowman, @TanyaCandler) and played all of 'Spit' in its entirety, would you come? And where?"
Former bassist Tanya Candler left KITTIE in the winter of 1999 righter after 'Spit' was released via Artemis Records, in order to finish high school and was replaced by Talena Atfield.
If the original KITTIE lineup would return and perform 'Spit' in its entirety, would you be there? Let us know in the comments section.

VINNIE PAUL: "We should just leave the fourteen amazing years Pantera had be."
As we have said MANY times, a PANTERA reunion without the late great Dimebag Darrell Abbott would be the worst moment in Heavy Music history. Why?
1) Dimebag Darrell Abbott was the main song writer in PANTERA.
2) Nobody can replace DIME! When we saw Kerry King (Slayer) perform "A New Level" and "Fucking Hostile" together with Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano (Anthrax) at the "Metal Masters Clinic 2" in New York City late last year, none of them did justice to DIME's shredding abilities!
3) Reunions are usually organized when all the members of a band are still alive and well.
We are glad to hear that Vinnie Paul doesn't think a PANTERA reunion is a smart move. Also, when we spoke with bassist Rex Brown he clearly stated that it would NEVER happen (watch our interview with Rex below)!
However, Vinnie told Cindy Scull of the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas radio station 97.1 The Eagle Rocks, that IF there would be a reunion Zakk Wylde from Black Label Society would be the candidate to fill in for DIME!
"I spent two hours with Zakk, sitting down — a really great talk about… [Zakk] calls [Dimebag] 'the old man.' I mean, [Zakk] and my brother were so tight. If [a PANTERA reformation] ever were to happen, [Zakk] would be the guy [to step in for Dimebag]. But I honestly think, out of respect for my brother, we should just leave the 14 amazing years PANTERA had be. We're all happy doing our own thing. We have to continue living and do other things. But the 20th anniversary of [PANTERA's classic second major label album] 'Vulgar Display Of Power' is coming — that was our best record ever. There's a new song on [the upcoming 20th-anniversary reissue of 'Vulgar'] nobody's ever heard [called 'Piss' that goes] 'You're just piss in the wind.' It's totally Phil [Anselmo, former PANTERA singer] — his attitude, everything that PANTERA was all about. I'm really proud of it. I'm really excited to see it [come out]."

Snippet Of A NEW PANTERA Song Called "Piss" Is Ready For Your Ears!
As previously reported, those of you who are attending the Revolver Golden Gods Awards, are in for a treat: UNRELEASED PANTERA song!
PANTERA will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their landmark album, 'Vulgar Display of Power', with the worldwide debut of their first music video in 12 years, for the previously unreleased song, “Piss,” from the Vulgar recording sessions. PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul commented, “‘Piss’ is the only unheard complete Pantera track in existence. It was recorded at the same time as Vulgar Display of Power and it’s 100 percent Pantera with attitude and our signature groove! After mixing it, I can’t believe it didn’t make the record! So it’s 2012 and 20 years later and NEW Pantera music has been delivered. Cheers!”

Dez Fafara From DevilDriver + Mark Morton From Lamb Of God = BORN OF THE STORM
Two of the hardest working dudes in Heavy Music, Dez Fafara (DevilDriver, Coal Chamber) and Mark Morton (Lamb Of God), had the genious idea of forming a side project together. Dubbed as BORN OF THE STORM, this collaborative effort has the headbangers of the world on the edge of their seats.
According to Morton, Kevin Talley (SIX FEET UNDER, DAATH, MISERY INDEX, CHIMAIRA) played drums on the demos, with Morton handling the bass on "Dust".
Writing on his Twitter profile, Fafara previously compared the music to CIRCUS OF POWER meets "Badmotorfinger"-era SOUNDGARDEN while Morton cited Chicago doom legends TROUBLE as an influence on the material. At least 14 "killer tunes" have been written so far.
Right now you can download for FREE, two NEW songs!
* "Nowhere Fast" (Featuring Ryan Lake of ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY)

Jon Schaffer Talks About Touring North America, NEW Album 'Dystopia' & The Roots Of The Band!
Jon Schaffer formed Purgatory (which eventually became Iced Earth) in Tampa, Florida, in 1984. Since then, he has released 10 studio albums, the newest being the highly-acclaimed 'Dystopia' (October, 2011) – which debuted at #67 on the Billboard Top 200 – one live album, two compilations, three boxed sets, and several DVDs. Thanks to massive worldwide sales — and rabidly loyal fans – Iced Earth has earned a seat in the pantheon of America’s most successful Heavy Metal bands.
The Floridian Metallers recently concluded an extensive North American tour with SYMPHONY X and WARBRINGER. During the bands New York City takeover on March 10th at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square, we had the chance to chat with Jon Schaffer about the succesful tour, their NEW album 'Dystopia', their NEW singer Stu Block and about the roots of Iced Earth! MEGADETH Releases NEW Book Entitled "Megadeth: Another Time, A Different Place"!
"Megadeth: Another Time, A Different Place" gives the audience a front-row seat into the early days and meteoric rise of this young band who would become one of the most influential groups of all time and, with Anthrax, Slayer, and Metallica, consistently touted among the best “Thrash Metal” bands ever to cross the stage. This is the first Megadeth photography book and only the second book documenting their rise to Rock glory, including rare, never-before-seen photographs representing a small but crucial period of time in their career. Hale’s photographs, from intimate backstage photographs to screaming, kinetic live shots, are the images of a young band prepared to take on the world.
“The ‘work’ that you hold in your hands now is the work of a friend, who is also a ‘photo-grrrrrrr-apher,’ and who has captured the very essence of my career: hungry, gritty, hard, cold, impersonal, personal, and very personal. Also, the sensitive unseen side of me, which was somewhat of an anomaly with the public and left me an enigma to my peers.” — Dave Mustaine from the Foreword

PANTERA To Celebrate 20 Years Of 'Vulgar Display Of Power' At The Revolver Golden Gods Awards!
Right before the official start of the show, PANTERA will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their landmark album, 'Vulgar Display of Power', with the worldwide debut of their first music video in 12 years, for the previously unreleased song, “Piss,” from the Vulgar recording sessions. Cheers!”

Don Jamieson From THAT METAL SHOW Interviews Rob Dukes From EXODUS & GENERATION KILL!
Last Monday, May 5th, we headed over to "Precious Metal" at Lit Lounge in New York City, and got our ears infected by Generation Kill, Gunfire N Sodomy and Doomsday Mourning! Right after Rob Dukes' Generation Kill concluded a Monday night of Metal, we kidnapped Don Jamieson (That Metal Show, Gunfire N Sodomy) and forced him to interview Rob Dukes (Exodus, Generation Kill) by holding a knife to his throat. No, we aren't kidding!
During the interview Don chatted with Rob about Eggs-At-Us (this is how Don enunciates Exodus), Generation Kill, and how stand up comedy and Metal relate to one another.
We want to thank Don for always supporting Horns Up Rocks, and Rob Dukes for always keeping it steel!

STRIFE Resumes Tracking NEW Album In Los Angeles With Nick Jett As Producer!
LAHC band STRIFE has issued an update on the recording status of their forthcoming album.
“Los Angeles based Hardcore band, Strife, will be heading back to the studio this week to resume tracking of their upcoming full length. They recently returned from Brazil, where they recorded drum tracks for 16 songs with drummer Iggor Cavalera (Sepultura / Cavalera Conspiracy).
"This week the will begin tracking guitars, bass, and vocals at Blood Tracks Studio and Sunset Lodge in Los Angeles with producer Nick Jett. The album is expected to be finished in early April.
Guitarist Andrew Kline said, “The album is about halfway done, and we couldn’t be more excited…Iggor absolutely killed the drum tracks. He played a lot more straight forward than he normally does to fit our style, and then added the right fills and touches to really stand out…”
A final release date, label, cover art and additional information will be revealed soon, so stay tuned!
