Children Of Bodom Confirmed for 70,000 Tons Of Metal!
Finland's Heavy Metal legends Children Of Bodom are very familiar with dangerous waters. Not only have they survived the crushing currents of Lake Of Bodom through music that penetrates your ear drums, but they dominate the Skandinavian waters like none-other. It has been confirmed that the band will be on board for 70000 TONS OF METAL!

Finger Death Punch - Audio Description of 'American Capitalist' & "Share the Welt Tour" Tour Kickoff Tonight in Las Vegas!
California's Five Finger Death Punch released their third studio album titled "American Capitalist" this past Tuesday (October 11) via Prospect Park. The album was recorded at “The Hideout” in Las Vegas, NV with producer Kevin Churko, and it is likely to sell between 85,000 and 90,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to industry web site Hits Daily Double. The estimate was based on one-day sales reports compiled after the record arrived in stores on October 11 via Prospect Park Records.
“This record crystallizes the sound of Death Punch," says guitarist Zoltan Bathory.
Singer Ivan Moody adds, "I literally laid every ounce of blood I had on this one. We are a people’s band. Our fans understand us because of who we are. We've never tried to be anybody else but FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH. If you’re inclined to please the whole world, you've got to take a step back and realize that at the end of the day, you have to be you- first and foremost. Otherwise, you're useless to anyone else".

Rex Brown to Ink Up "Official Truth, 101 Proof: The Inside Story Of Pantera"!
Rex Brown is not only one of the best bassists in Heavy Music history, but also a man that never bites his tongue. It was recently announced that Brown will be joining forces with De Capo Press to write a memoir entitled "Official Truth, 101 Proof: The Inside Story Of Pantera". Due for release in the Fall of 2012, the book has been described as a "starkly honest and revealing".
As we all know, Pantera saved Heavy Music in the early 90's thanks to their vulgar display of crushing Metal. Their phenomenal 9 studio albums, were only topped by their amazing stage show. When Pantera came to town, nobody was safe and their explosive live show left many Panteraheads scarred for life! They say that glory always has a very high prize to pay, in the case of the Kings Of Metal this is an understatement.
Now the whole story about Pantera will be told by one of the pivotal members of the band. Fans can expect the whole truth and nothing but the truth, in a story about a band from Texas that went against all odds and went from triumph into tragedy after the assassination of Dimebag Darrell Abbott on December 8, 2004 at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio.
Pantera's discography:
- Metal Magic (1983)
- Projects in the Jungle (1984)
- I Am the Night (1985)
- Power Metal (1988)
- Cowboys from Hell (1990)
- Vulgar Display of Power (1992)
- Far Beyond Driven (1994)
- The Great Southern Trendkill (1996)
- Reinventing the Steel (2000)
Stay tuned for further information.

Cathedral - Details for 2CD "Anniversary" live album & Final Studio Album 'The Last Spire'!
Coventry, England hasn't been the same since the rise of the mighty Cathedral in the late 1980's. Through their unique flavor of doom Metal complimented by phenomenal musicianship, the band are considered one of the saviors of the genre. With nine studio albums under their belt, the band hast just announced that they will be releasing a 2 CD "Anniversary" live album and their final studio album entitled "The Last Spire".
The 2 CD "Anniversary" live album will be released on Monday, November 21st in North America, via Metal Blade Records in conjunction with Rise Above Records. The Anniversary captures Cathedral in all their raw and live glory and marks the first official live album to be ever released by the doom Metal legends. Recorded live in London, 2010, Disc 1 features "Forest of Equilibrium" in its entirety, delivered impeccably by the original lineup of Lee Dorrian on vocals, Garry Jennings and Adam Lehan on guitar, Mark Griffiths on bass and Mike Smail on drums. Disc 2 is a greatest hits set courtesy of the long lasting lineup featuring Leo Smee (bass) and Brian Dixon (drums) alongside Dorrian and Jennings.
Vocalist Lee Dorrian comments on the band's first ever live album and the impending final live show: "The release of Anniversary is both exciting and sad for us. Exciting, as it is the first ever official Cathedral live album, recorded at our twentieth anniversary show on Dec 3rd in London last year, where we reunited with our original line up and performed the entirety of or debut album Forest of Equilibrium for the first (and last) time ever. Sad, because December the 3rd this year will be the night we perform our last show ever, before calling it a day as a live band. So more than anything, we would like to dedicate Anniversary to everyone who has followed and supported Cathedral over the years. Your support really means and has meant the world to us! Thanks and stay heavy!
Words by Dom Lawson, August 2011
… and so it ends as it began, with the grim but compelling sound of mankind's most artful and potent response against the dying of the light: the almighty riff… sacred, remorseless, oppressive and sublime… it towers above us like a shadow cast by the collected follies of humanity itself, giving us succor and protecting us from the lure of the grave …
Whether you regard them as the saviors of doom Metal, the rightful heirs to the Sabbathian throne, the masters of the arcane, profane and avowedly eccentric or merely one of the finest British Heavy Metal bands of all time, Cathedral have made an indelible and undeniable mark on the Heavy Music scene over their two decades of sonorous, lethargic service. Led by vocalist Lee Dorrian and his perennial riff-deliverer Gaz Jennings, the band emerged at the dawn of the 90s amid the clattering clangour of an extreme Metal scene that had simply forgotten how to slow down and synchronize with the miserly grind of tectonic plates and the ticking of time. Righteously inspired by Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Trouble, Candlemass, Saint Vitus and many other purveyors of superlative snail's pace riff worship, Cathedral made it their principal aim to resurrect the very concept of doom within the Metal scene, both in terms of the musical sub-genre that bore that name but also with regard to the haunting emotional might that had steadily been drained from the heart of heavy.
After grabbing the attention of many like-minded souls with their early demo recordings, Dorrian and the original line-up of the band released their debut album, the astonishing Forest Of Equilibrium, in December 1991, single-handedly reversing Metal's runaway momentum and dragging it back to its fundamentally slow, soulful and crushing essence. From that moment on, Cathedral became revered guardians of true doom and embarked on a steadily mutating path towards total riff nirvana. Upping the pace for 1993's "The Ethereal Mirror", they embraced evolution with alacrity. By the time 1995's "The Carnival Bizarre" arrived, Dorrian and Jennings had been joined by bassist Leo Smee and drummer Brian Dixon, thus cementing a formation and focus that would serve the band well over the next 15 years. The series of albums that followed veered from the kaleidoscopic psychomania of "Caravan Beyond Redemption" (1998) through to the blistered, necrotizing funeral grind of "Endtyme" (2001) and on to the wild progressive hues of 2010's "The Guessing Game", covering all points in between.
Cathedral's live shows were always celebratory affairs, as the band traversed the globe spreading the bleak gospel and sharing grandiose riffs with generations of lost souls. By the year 2010, it became clear that Cathedral's mission had been effectively accomplished, and Dorrian began the countdown to oblivion. The band played a 20th anniversary show at London's O2 Islington Academy on December 3rd, reconvening that legendary original line-up to perform "Forest Of Equilibrium" for the very first time in its devastating entirety, followed by a bold stride through the rest of that glorious catalog courtesy of that equally classic but more enduring latter-day configuration. Fans and friends traveled from all around this wicked world to witness the event and despite the fact that many British disciples were unable to get to London due to harsh weather conditions and a dismal public transport system, "Cathedral acquitted themselves with humble grace and splendor. Urged on by the news that Cathedral will completely retire from the mortal Metal realm after one more show this coming December, the entire 20th anniversary gig is now to be unleashed as Anniversary, a double-disc extravaganza of crippling, ultra-doom that is as raw and uncompromising as these desolate days demand. Next year will see the release of "The Last Spire", the final chapter in the Cathedral story, but for now Anniversary is doom's last word. And so it ends…

GWAR to Return to 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon', North American Tourdates & NEW Bassist Announced!
This Fall, the scariest band of the planet, GWAR, is ready to decimate North America once again! After completing a successful run through Europe, in which they destroyed various Summer festivals and also headlined numerous shows, GWAR is ready to spew all of you with some hard hitting vulgar music!
In order to celebrate all things GWAR, the band will be performing on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" on Thursday October 27th as part of their humongous "Return of the World Maggot" tour, set to crawl forth from Hell next week. This is what GWAR's front-beast Oderus Urungus had to say about this.
"We are overjoyed that Jimmy had the good sense to invite us back, as we had planned to return anyway. Now Fallon can do the show with his head still attached to his body."
In the continuing support of their insanely heavy latest Metal Blade release - last year's "Bloody Pit of Horror", GWAR is set to hit the road starting October 18th, along with Every Time I Die and either GHOUL or Warbeast (depending on where in the country you are), for a six-week tour of major GWAR strongholds.
"Ever since we acquired a Skumship (GWAR's intergalactic war-barge), we have had to spend more time off-planet, you know, killing stuff, so we couldn't visit as many shit-hole clubs as we would normally. That means all you GWAR bohabs will have to show your devotion by driving endless miles in dangerous vehicles just so you can be ripped into shreds and have your girlfriend devoured by a giant worm." - Oderus Urungus
In other Slave-Pit news, GWAR has revealed that the brutal hazing ritual required of any new member is finally over, and that they are pleased to announce that Louisville musician Jamison Land (member of the Louisville punk band The Burial) has landed the coveted spot of personal man-servant to GWAR bass player Beefcake the Mighty. This is what Land had to say about this.
"I'm ecstatic to be a part of GWAR, it is a dream come true. My first GWAR show was in 1994 at the age of 15. At 18 I worked in a club in Louisville, KY, and I got to make GWAR's deli-tray. I was so proud. I feel a bit sore... the initiation is brutal. I probably won't be able to sit down for a week!"

Slipknot's Shawn "Clown" Crahan Confirms NEW Studio Album & Discusses 10th-Anniversary Reissue Of 'Iowa'!
Ever since the tragic passing of Slipknot's bassist Paul Gray in May of 2010, the future of Slipknot has been one of the biggest mysteries within the Heavy Music world. While the band did make a triumphant return to Europe this summer, where they headlined the Sonisphere Festival show in Knebsworth, England, the remaining members of Slipknot are taking their time and are strategically planning every step the band takes after the passing of # 2. Here is what percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan had to say about this matter, on a recent interview with Kerrang! magazine.
"There's plans [to make another record] but that's a way off. No one will push it, because it's going to be a big one. It'll be closer to 'Iowa', but it'll be sadder and crazier. And really thought provoking, it could even be conceptual. We're still taking some time to reflect on our brother [Gray]. Everybody needs to be collecting thoughts so they can get it out and no one has really had time to collect thoughts yet. But we're the fucking 'KNOT. And when we come out, you'll know your band is done."
This is what vocalist Corey Taylor had to say regarding a NEW Slipknot album.
"It's still too soon. At least that's how I feel. I'm not ready to make a Slipknot album. I think there will be a day when we do. But for me, doing it now wouldn't make sense. You can't do a three-week tour then jump into the studio, especially after something like this. It makes more sense to do a few more tours and reconnect as a band first. If we jumped right in, it wouldn't be about the absence. It would be about the rest of us. We were the nine, but there's a piece missing. We should allow people to pay their respects before we come out with new music. We should do this right."
Regarding the reissue of "IOWA" (set for release on November 1, 2011, via Roadrunner Records), this is what "Clown" had to say to Terrorizer Magazine the external influences that went into the writing process behind "Iowa".
"Basically being on the road for a long, long time for the first record [1999's self-titled debut], not knowing if we were ever going to stop, taking all that knowledge, not making a fucking dollar that whole time, the drugs, the alcohol, the isolation, the sadness of being alone for some. Those are just a few things that went into making "Iowa". And lets not forget where the world was at that time the world was a very scary place at that time, things that happened in 2001, that changed the world forever."
As far as touring plans, both Corey Taylor and Shawn Crahan confirmed a few weeks ago that Slipknot are planning a US tour for Spring of 2012. Stay tuned for more Slipknot news!

'Dr. Ozzy Osbourne's Seven-Day Guide To Better Living' via Social Networks!
Today is a great day in the medical field, "Trust Me, I'm Dr. Ozzy" is finally in stores! Ozzy Osbourne's new book offers the reader Ozzy's comical health stories, and his advice for others to become superhuman just like him. The 'Iron Man's' second book is titled "I'm Dr. Ozzy: Advice From Rock's Ultimate Survivor" and is available now via Grand Central Publishing.
In celebration of this highly anticipated release, the prince of darkness will be very busy on his social networks (Facebook and Twiiter) with "Dr. Ozzy's Seven-Day Guide To Better Living." The links can be found below.
The week-long series will offer Ozzy's followers free advice and helpful hints on how to stay healthy. Dr. Ozzy revealed his first better-living tip today: "Always get a 2nd opinion — even if it means calling the doctor's cell from 6ft underground to ask if he's 100% sure you're dead."
Facts about "Trust Me, I'm Dr. Ozzy":
- The book is based on his ongoing Rolling Stone (U.S.) Sunday Times (U.K.) columns, "Trust Me, I'm Dr. Ozzy".
- It will include some of the best material from the columns, as well as survival stories not found in Ozzy's memoir, his answers to celebrities' medical questions, charts and sidebars, and much more.
- Book description: 100% Ozzy — part memoir and part advice column, delivered with Ozzy's famous wit and humor. It's comprised of reader-submitted medical and lifestyle questions, Ozzy digs deep into his murky past, searching for pearls of "wisdom."
- The genesis of the Dr. Ozzy columns began last year, when Ozzy decided to have his DNA mapped to determine if science could perhaps explain how he survived his nearly four decade avalanche of drugs and alcohol. The "Full Ozzy Genome" contained variants that scientists had never before encountered. In fact, the findings made headlines around the world and even led to Ozzy hosting a prestigious TED conference.

Behemoth's "Magick" Returns to the Stage with Sold Out Shows!
As we all know, Behemoth are back in black after the recovery of frontman Adam Michał Darski (A.K.A. Nergal) who was diagnosed with Leukemia on August 8, 2010. Poland's kings of blackened Death Metal, Behemoth, recently performed the first of a handful of dates leading up to the Metal Hammer Full of Hate Tour that kicks off Hamburg Germany February 9th. This is what Nergal had to say about this.
"Magick is back, my friends! We have our first 'rebirth' shows under our belt, moreover, both Poznan and Danzig were totally sold out and crowd's reactions went beyond anyone's expectations!
"We have a special guest, Krzysztof Azarewicz introducing the band on stage, thanx mate! You are a true friend! Behemoth would like to thank every person that came down and shown their support.
"It can't be underrated. We have few more shows to go…and then we're gonna take a deep breath before striking back the European stages in February. This is the ultimate manifest of our unconquerable will! Join us!"
Expect more tour information to be released shortly.
In other Behemoth news; the new music video for the track 'Lucifer' off the bands 2009 release "Evangelion" was recently presented to the masses. The video was shot in Wroclaw, Poland and stars the song's guest vocalist, Maciej Malenczuk.
Back in print and newly repackaged, "Demonica" chronicles the earliest recordings of Polish blackened Death Metal legends Behemoth! "Demonica" will include two booklets; a 28 page booklet and a 16 page booklet with rare photos and lyrics that were not included with the original release. Here is an mp3 for the track 'Summoning of the Ancient Gods' off the upcoming reissue.

Corey Taylor to Embark on Solo Tour at the End of the Month!
Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, has always pushed the envelope in order to achieve all of his dreams and aspirations. His latest venture was to write a twisted and demented book, voice the audio book, and now he is embarking on a solo tour in the United States in support of "Seven Deadly Sins: Settling the Argument Between Born Bad and Damaged Good". The tour is scheduled to kickoff on October 22nd at the La Grange Festival in Bee Cave, TX (Austin), and will conclude on December 13th at The Social in Orlando, FL. List of tour-dates and ticket information can be seen below.
The idea for the tour sprang from an intimate set of UK gigs that Taylor recently played to launch his bestselling book "Seven Deadly Sins", as well as his speaking engagement at Oxford University this summer. Taylor will perform originals and some choice covers acoustically; will read selections from the book; and take questions from the audience. Billed as “An Evening With Corey Taylor," these shows will be a rare opportunity for many fans to interact with Taylor in this intimate a setting, and vice versa. This is what Corey Taylor had to say about his upcoming solo tour.
"I had so much fun doing this type of show in England that I just HAD to bring it to the States. It's gonna be one-part Henry Rollins, one-part Johnny Cash and probably a little heavy on the Monty Python. It's everything I love to do: singing, comedy and talkin' smack. Hopefully, the audience enjoys it as much as I do."
Armed with an acoustic guitar, a copy of his book, a microphone and his unflinching worldview and lacerating wit, Corey Taylor is coming to your town to spread the gospel as only he can and it will be a night fans won't soon forget. If you are looking to be fully entertained by one of the most gifted voices of the hard rock scene, this is a night you won't dare miss.
Taylor’s book, "Seven Deadly Sins: Settling the Argument Between Born Bad and Damaged Good", is an outrageous manifesto on the nature of sin, offered in Taylor's unique and informed voice. The tome is now available in audio form, read by Taylor himself, and it features an action-packed ending not included in the print version. Seven Deadly Sins spent four weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list, and five weeks on the Times of London Best Seller list.

Metal Sanaz Discusses Project Independent in New York City!
Last week, Heavy Music history was written at the Project Independent Showcase in New York City. Not only did the series of events at Brooklyn's Public Assembly and The Trash Bar welcome some of the most talented musicians in the tri-state area Heavy Music scene, but the community showed up on a "school night" to support their local scene. As a result, the organizers were very impressed with the state of the New York City Heavy Music scene and will definitely bring the event back in 2012 to the city that never stops rocking.
The events were hosted by Metal Sanaz and headlined by last years Project Independent winner Aghori from San Diego, California. Joining Aghori at the main event on Tuesday, October 3rd at Public Assembly were: Lies Beneath, Scars Of Envy, Olom, Ashes Of Your Enemy, and Nostrom. Not even 24 hours later, the VIP event took place at The Trash Bar. This event welcomed the "surprise" unannounced guests Resolution 15 and Bangladeafy. All in all the performances were very tight, and we commend all the bands that took part of this events!
During the series of events, we turned the tables on Metal Sanaz and interviewed her about Project Independent. We also discussed the state of the Heavy Music scene, and how important it is to support the local acts. Without further due, here is our interview with one of the most influential personalities within Heavy Music media.
Apart from all the performances, the entire event was captured on tape for the new documentary titled "Living Loud: The American Metal Underground Exposed". Additionally, each band took part of a critique session that covered various vital points:
1) Professionalism
2) Musicianship
3) Song Writing
4) Group Chemistry
5) Stage Presence
6) Set Structure
7) Appearance
8) Star Quality
9) Overall Sound
10) Audience Response
Once the nationwide tour is concluded, all the bands will enter the online voting process, in which the fans get to vote for the next Project Independent Featured Artist. Here is voting schedule:
- December 1 - December 10: All selected artists will participate, but only the Top 50 will advance.
- December 11 - December 20: Top 50 artists will participate, but only Top 20 artists will advance.
- December 21 - December 40: Top 20 artists will participate and each will have one song included on the next Project Independent Compilation CD Release.
- January 1: The Project Independent Featured Artist will be announced.
