CATTLE DECAPITATION's Travis Ryan: 'Monolith Of Inumanity', NEW Music Video, Touring & More!
Recently, the veggie-gorging progressive grind masters CATTLE DECAPITATION released their NEW album 'Monolith Of Inhumanity' via Metal Blade Records. The 11-track long player is an achievement that stands out as one of the most volatile, ambitious, and impossible-to-pigeonhole records of 2012.
Produced by Dave Otero of Denver's Flatline Audio, 'Monolith Of Inhumanity' sees the band investigating inventive NEW techniques in songwriting without abandoning their signature formula of confrontational audio wreckage. Conceptually, the record revolves around a potent distaste for contemporary civilization and the damage wrought in the name of progress.
We recently, had the chance to chat with the bands frontman about the production of the bands 7th Metal Blade Records release, the production of their NEW music video for "Kingdom Of Tyrants" and the bands touring plans in support of 'Monolith Of Inhumanity'. Here is our extensive interview with Travis Ryan! We hope you enjoy it.
In related news, CATTLE DECAPITATION will sever souls on this Summer's Shockwave Festival Tour 2012. The band will be joined by Fear Factory, Voivod, Misery Index, Revocation, Havok, Dirge Within, Last Chance To Reason, Vildhjarta, The Browning and Forged In Flame. Tickets are on sale NOW at the link below.

DYING FETUS Premiere Trailer For NEW Video; Tour With Revocation and Six Feet Under Kicks Off Tonight!
A little under two weeks remain before the highly anticipated release of the NEW DYING FETUS album 'Reign Supreme' which hits stores on June 19th. 'Reign Supreme' features nine tracks and is a "return to roots" with production focused slightly more on slam than in the band's last few works. Thematically, the album is set to be a good old-fashioned piece of social and political commentary in the style of DYING FETUS as we have come to know.
The band recently completed work on a video for the song "From Womb to Waste". The video features 12 camera angles from a live sold out show and was filmed and directed by Scott Hansen (Animals as Leaders, A Day to Remember). A trailer for the video can be seen below.
DYING FETUS are offering a FREE download of the track "Subjected to a Beating" on their Bandcamp Page HERE. The record is available for pre-order HERE.
As previously reported, DYING
FETUS have received the honor of being inducted into Decibel Magazine's
"Hall of Fame" for their classic album Destroy the Opposition, which
was released in 2000 on Relapse Records. The issue with this special
retrospective will be on newsstands at the end of the week and can be
ordered directly HERE.
DYING FETUS kick of their summer touring season tonight as part of the "18 Nights of Blood Tour" in North America with label mates REVOCATION and Six Feet Under. They will also be on a headlining European tour which includes appearances at the "Copenhell Festival" in Copenhagen, Denmark, "Hell Fest" in Clisson, France, the "With Full Force" festival in Roitzschjora, Germany, "Sevilla Rock Festival" in Sevilla, Spain and the "Getaway Rock Fest" in Gävle, Sweden.

DETHKLOK's Gene Hoglan Is D O N E Tracking Drums For Bands NEW Album! #AtomicClock
As you should all know by now, drumming machine Gene Hoglan is no longer in FEAR FACTORY. While there had been speculations that Hoglan left FEAR FACTORY in order to join TESTAMENT, we were told by a very reliable source that the real reason behind Hoglan's departure was because DETHKLOK can offer him a lot more cash than either FEAR FACTORY or TESTAMENT can. So it really came down to Hoglan going for the gig that offers him the biggest pay check. We personally don't blame him at all!
Yesterday (June 7th), it became pretty clear that Hoglan has rejoined DETHKLOK and will be part of the bands upcoming tour with LAMB OF GOD and GOJIRA. The drummer twitted the following:
"Just finished recording the Dethklok album late last night. This is going to be killer! Stoked"
So when can you expect to listen to DETHKLOK III, probably sometime in the Winter!
As previously reported, DETHKLOK and LAMB OF GOD will be joining forces for a 34-show North American that is schedule to kick off on August 1 in Seattle, Washington. The three-time Grammy® Award-nominated band from Richmond, VA and the world’s most brutal animated death band from Adult Swim’s "Metalocalypse" animated series will shred their way through cities throughout in the U.S. and Canada ending September 15 in San Francisco, CA.
Joining the co-headliners at each stop along the tour will be special guest GOJIRA, the French Metal band that will perform songs from its upcoming album release, 'L'Enfant Sauvage', which will be released in the U.S. on June 26 with Roadrunner Records. Pitchfork describes the NEW album as "breathless and awesome."

SIX FEET UNDER: "18 Nights Of Blood Tour" To Be Ignited Tonight!
With nationwide speculation that the zombie apocalypse is officially upon us, it would only seem appropriate for SIX FEET UNDER's "18 Nights Of Blood Tour" to commence this Friday! The near three-week run of live rituals will begin today (June 8th) in Atlanta, Georgia and cannibalize its way across the U.S. coming to a close on the band's home turf of Tampa, Florida. Blood shall be spilled, faces eaten and brains devoured! No one is safe. SIX FEET UNDER will be joined by newly recruited rhythm guitarist Ola Englund who takes the place of Rob Arnold (who retired from touring). Support will be provided by Dying Fetus and Revocation.
The band will be touring in support of 'Undead', their latest installment of misanthropic brutality, which toppled Billboard charts upon its first week of release. ('Undead' entered the Heatseekers Chart at #, #30 on the Top Independent Album Chart, #22 on the Top Hard Music Albums Chart, #14 on the Top Current Albums Chart and #183 on the Top 200 Chart!). Critical lauded by fans and media alike, Decibel Magazine dubbed the record "the best thing SFU have recorded since 'Maximum Violence'," while Terrorizer commended the offering noting," …this is truly an unearthly noise and glorious in its heaving absurdity." Outburn agreed calling 'Undead', "an album on which this NEW level of musicianship adds value without tarnishing SIX FEET UNDER's legacy of brutality." Added MetalSucks thoughtfully: "What makes 'Undead' work is a balance between the tooth grinding intensity of its blasts and the bone-strewn muck of its down-tempo bits."
'Undead' was unleashed to North American ears via Metal Blade on May 22 and offers an updated lineup of Barnes alongside guitarist Rob Arnold (ex- Chimaira), longtime guitarist Steve Swanson (ex-Massacre), bassist Jeff Hughell (ex-Brain Drill, ex-Vile), and drummer Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Chimaira).

Australia's THE AMITY AFFLICTION Announces NEW Album Title & Album Release Date - Video Available!
Australia's The Amity Affliction, selected as one Alternative Press' Top 100 Bands You Need to Know About in 2012, have entered a Florida studio to work on their proper Roadrunner Records debut, 'Chasing Ghosts'.
'Chasing Ghosts' is scheduled to be released on Sept. 18. It follows the band's previous album 'Youngbloods'. The Amity Affliction are holed up in the studio with producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Blessthefall, Incubus) as they prepare their latest.
Frontman Joel Birch checked in from the studio to shed a little light on the process, saying, "Recording with Elvis has been the most amazing experience for Amity since we began making records eight years ago. It's incredible. We came into this record more prepared than we ever have before as well, so everything is coming together really, really well."
Birch further stated, "We're all loving the NEW songs. It feels like there is an entire album of awesome songs that we love which hasn't happened prior to this; we've finally written an album we are proud of from start to finish, no filler whatsoever." The singer also commented on the lyrical direction of Chasing Ghosts, revealing, " I've tried to write my thoughts in a manner that can connect with people on an even more personal level than I did on Youngbloods, and I'm proud that the substance and depth hasn't been lost or compromised, or watered down."
AP lauded the band for its "brutally honest racket," saying, "While you can waste as much time as you want throwing labels such as post-Hardcore, scream or Metalcore at the Australian quintet, all that matters is they writer honest songs with tons of hooks and some serious bite."
Loudwire.com also pointed out the band's knack for "mixing hard-hitting Hardcore and melodic Rock with sing-scream vocals," while ARTISTdirect praised the band as “Modern Heavy Metal at its finest… Amity Affliction are the most exciting band of 2012. Combining gnashing riffs a la Killswitch Engage and hooks that rival Deftones, Amity Affliction are primed to take over.” Regional publications Alternative Revolt, Shockwave and web tastemaker The Gauntlet have all hopped on The Amity Affliction train from the get-go, profiling the band and introducing it to Rock fans early on.

MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine Hit By A Rock While Performing In Croatia Following A Feud With W.A.S.P.'s Blackie Lawless?
According to Q104.3, MEGADETH's performance at the 2012 METALFEST came to a halt when the bands controversial frontman Dave Mustaine was struck by a rock. After being hit in the head, Mustaine walked off the stage and refused to come back! This is when a spokesman for the band got on stage and said the following:
"Guys, Dave's been hit in the head with a rock... I apologize. He's been hit in the head." The crowd then launched further items at the spokesman prompting him to also leave the stage.
So what exactly happened? Apparently, missiles were thrown as chanting revelers called for fellow Metal band W.A.S.P. to appear following unconfirmed rumors their frontman Blackie Lawless refused to perform at the event after falling out with Mustaine.
Do you think Mustaine's reaction to the fans reaction was justifiable? Leave your comments below.

Musicians: 5 Social Media Rules Of Engagement! #EssentialRead
Today, the use of social media is absolutely essential in the music industry. If used efficiently, social media can help musicians reach out to the masses in a matter of seconds and have an effect on those whom they manage to connect with. We came across this 5 rules of engagement on Make It In Music.com (a very good resource for musicians) and decided to share this social media rules with you all. Grab a pen and some paper, and take some notes!
Rule 1 : Always Be Approachable
Back in the day, the ‘Pop Star’ had an unreachable elusive quality, and the fact that you couldn’t get to them made you want to be with them more, from the Beatles in the Sixties right up to the Nineties, fans craved their idols, soaking up every bit of info they could get slowly leaking out from the limited channels around at the time.
But times change and in the age of information we can find everything we want to know about an artist in a good few hours, leaving the rest of the time for the ‘fan’ to discover something new and move on.
So you need to give more of yourself to maintain your relationship with the fan. They need to know a little bit more about what makes you tick, you need to let them into your lives a lot more than previous generations of artists.
This can be a good thing. You can easily control and create content to use in your social media. You don’t need to expose every detail in your life, but there are definitely times and moments that can make you seem more human and approachable.
Use Facebook, Twitter and other sites to reflect your tastes. Display and share your favorite music, movies, TV Shows, clothes, food, anything you’re interested in outside of playing an instrument. If any one responds with a comment make sure to comment back. You’re not just commenting back to a single fan, but to everyone who follows your page.
Make sure you put up images and videos from behind the scenes. Seeing and hearing you as normal people will help your fans feel they know you a little better, whither its back stage, in the hotel, or on the plane.
Rule 2 : Start Conversations
Talk with your fans, not at them.
Ask them questions. They can be relevant to you and your music, or just discuss opinions on other music, world events and current affairs. Spend a small amount of time each day making sure you do this, as a quickish response makes your fans feel that you’re there, and that they’re part of your life.
Get your fans involved with your decision making processes – this can be done easily in Facebook with the question system they have available.
You can ask your fans which of your albums is their favourite. What tunes do they want you to perform live, for example. Another idea you could ask is whether there is a particular song that they think you should cover. The possibilities of engagement on this level are endless.
Rule 3 : Give Away Your Music & Other Rewards
Everybody loves something for nothing.
Unfortunately music has become increasingly devalued over the past decade, with the latest generation of music fans rarely feeling that they have to buy music at all. Nonetheless, giving away your music is great way to get your fans’ personal email address.
Once you have their email you have a direct link to your fan forever, not just through the latest trend in social media. I must admit I don’t see Facebook going the same way as MySpace did in losing popularity but it could happen, and it’s always better to own your fan list, rather than to leave it under the control of whichever social media platform you happen to be currently using.
We've seen specific enormously positive results in sales of music as a result of an artist giving away nearly half their current release. And this is consistent sales, not just peaks around release dates.
Create competitions. These work brilliantly and are another cool way of collecting those important emails from your fans. Competition ideas can range from free music, to tickets, VIP passes, personal meetings. There are many things you can offer your fans. Be as creative as you dare.
After shows are a cool idea. Offer a select few the chance to stay back after the gig, for an exclusive extra 30-40 minute performance. Creating a more intimate relationship with those special few. Give away stickers or even posters at the gigs. Yes, you can make a bit of money here, but a small gift can go along way!
Rule 4 : Make Your Fans Part Of The Process
Nothing helps sell an item more than word of mouth, the trusted belief of one consumer passed on to another.
Well, this is exactly how social media works. You need to make your fans part of the process. And nine times out of ten, they are more than happy to do it. If you don’t ask you don’t get, so if you have something you need to get out to the public ask for that share and ask for that retweet.
There’s no point in being cool, and thinking that people will get on and share it. I’ve seen it for myself – the percentage difference between not asking and asking is huge. Your fans should care about you, and they’re more than happy to help, but it will get passed over if you don’t create a direct call to action, and get your fans sharing and retweeting.
Rule 5 : Don’t Be Negative
Everyone likes a moan, but these days nothing goes unnoticed online.
And the last thing anyone needs is a whole pile of bad stuff coming back at you for something you may have said or had an opinion on in an off moment. So, it’s good practice to keep your public persona positive. To become a negative critic of someone or something can be detrimental, and you may have something in your past that you’ve forgotten about coming back to haunt you too. There’s a whole lot of Internet out there!
All creative types put a lot of time and love into their projects, but public dissing can get out of control, and in this viral age a small innocent comment about something can cause a lot of damage, so try and be respectful at all times. Fans can get turned off by this.
That said, it can equally be that taking a stand on an issue is true to you and your online persona – only you will know what’s right. What I’m saying is don’t use your online profiles carelessly to throw your weight around. If you choose to do so, be sure you know what you’re doing and where it can lead.
Armed with these 5 rules, you ought to be able to get the most out of your online promotion of your music. More than anything just be consistent, active and interetsing. That’s what makes you engaging!

HANK3 To Perform At "One Big Wag", Benefit Show For Animals In Need!
Before heading out on another portion of his vast U.S. tour, Hank3 will perform at a special benefit show. “One Big Wag” is being put on to support Franklin, TN’s Happy Tales Humane and all of its four-legged residents. The benefit will take place on Friday, August 3rd at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, TN. Doors open at 7pm and the show begins at 8pm. The event is 18+ and proper photo I.D. is required for entry. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased now at this location.
“At a no-kill shelter like Happy Tales Humane, it isn’t the most low-cost or easy way to deal with homeless pet over-population. This is my fourth year performing for them and it’s just a different way to try and give back,” states Hank3. “This shelter helps people in bad situations by taking in their pets instead of forcing them to have them put down. Animals are therapeutic to a lot of people and it’s important to learn about ways to rescue them. There are millions of dogs out there that already need a home, so they don’t need to be bought from a puppy mill or purebred breeder.”
For more information on the benefit show, please visit these locations:

Former Pantera and current Down vocalist Phil Anselmo ripped the NFL, Roger Goodell, Peter King Sports Illustrated for their handling of bountygate and punishing his beloved New Orleans Saints with unsubstantiated evidence. Listen to what Anselmo had to say on the video below.
As previously reported, NOLA's supergroup DOWN is scheduled to release four EP's dubbed as 'Down IV' throughout the next four years. During a recent interview the bands riff meister Kirk Windstein announced that the first EP, which contains six songs, should be out this summer! This is what Anselmo had to say about this:
"That's the idea right now, but I think that after you work on a body of music, you need to reload, you need to refresh, you need to clear your head. Get that, digest it, get it out of your system, and then decide what direction you're going to go. It's a good idea and I think we should see it through. But there's no way we can rush it. Because I think if it is a series of four, each one should be unique, and that… We've shown flexibility — we have songs like 'Bury Me In Smoke' and then we have songs like 'Stone The Crow'… acoustic pieces and what-not… We have all that. So we've touched on many, I guess, dynamics, so… I would expect each EP to have its own life."
Down's NEW EP will feature the following songs in no particular order:
- 'Levitation'
- 'Witchtripper'
- 'The Misfortune Teller'
- 'The Curse Is A Lie'
- 'Open Coffins'
- 'This Work Is Timeless'
