We have some very sad news. Slawek "Mortifier" Archangielskij passed away last night from heart failure. The bassist of the Polish Heavy Metal band HATE was found dead in Munchberg, Germany. Our condolences go out to Slawek's family, friends, band mates and fans. Rock In Peace, Slawek!
A statement from the band follows:
"[During the] night [of] April 5-6 near the German town of Munchberg, our friend, best comrade and longtime bass player unexpectedly passed away. After the show in Stuttgart last night, he went to sleep and never woke up. We found him lifeless early in the morning and immediately called an ambulance. He was reanimated, but to no avail. Results of Slawek's autopsy should be known soon. In this situation, we decided to cancel the remaining shows and return home. We gave detailed testimonies to the German police. We are shocked and shattered by his sudden, unexpected death. We mourn together with Slawek's family and friends."

Drama Alert: Richie Sambora Leaves BON JOVI Due To Monetary Differences
This past Wednesday, April 3, Jon Bon Jovi released a statement saying, "Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg. All shows will go on as scheduled". This is the first time that Bon Jovi performs without Richie Sambora on guitar, and as of right now it doesn't seem like Sambora will be back on board anytime soon.
According to TMZ, those "personal issues" have to do with Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora "fighting over money."
"Sources directly connected to Bon Jovi tell TMZ that tensions between Jon and Richie have been running high for years and it's finally erupted," reports the website. "One source tells us, 'It's a classic Jagger/Richards blowup."
The site adds that part of the problem is that "Jon constantly belittles Richie."
In September, Sambora told The Hollywood Reporter:
"Jon’s the leader, and there are no bones about that — and no hard feelings. Everyone has a specific role in the caste system of what this band is, and that’s why it has lasted for 30 years."
But it appears all is not well behind the current concert curtain, as JBJ told the crowd Tuesday in Calgary: "I had two choices: pack up and go home or give you everything I got... Richie Sambora won't be performing for a while. If there's ever a night I need you, it's tonight, Calgary!"
As of right now, the bands hasn't announced a temporary replacement for Sambora.

19 Years Since The Passing Of NIRVANA's Kurt Cobain - NEW Images Of His Suicide Scene Available!
Today, April 5, 2013, marks the 19th death anniversary of the legendary singer Kurt Cobain (NIRVANA). Cobain was born on February 20, 1967 in Aberdeen, Washington, U.S. and died on April 5, 1994 in Seattle, Washington, U.S.
Cobain was born at Grays Harbor Hospital to a waitress, Wendy Elizabeth (née Fradenburg), and an automotive mechanic, Donald Leland Cobain. His ancestry included Irish, English, Scottish, and German. Cobain had one younger sister named Kimberly, born in 1970.
His family had a musical background. His uncle Chuck Fradenburg starred in a band called The Beachcombers, his Aunt Mari Earle played guitar and performed in bands throughout Grays Harbor County, and his great-uncle Delbert had a career as an Irish tenor; making an appearance in the 1930 film King of Jazz.
Cobain's talent as an artist was evident from an early age. His bedroom was described as having taken on the appearance of an art studio, where he would accurately draw his favorite characters from films and cartoons such as Aquaman, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Disney characters like Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and Pluto. Cobain began developing an interest in music early in his life. According to his Aunt Mari, he began singing at two years old. At age four, Cobain started playing the piano and singing, writing a song about their trip to a local park. He listened to artists like the Ramonesand would sing songs like Arlo Guthrie's "Motorcycle Song," The Beatles' "Hey Jude", Terry Jacks' "Seasons in the Sun" and the theme song to The Monkees television show at a young age.
When Cobain was seven, his parents divorced. Later in his life, he said the divorce had a profound effect on his life. His mother noted that his personality changed dramatically; Cobain became defiant and withdrawn. In a 1993 interview, he elaborated:
"I remember feeling ashamed, for some reason. I was ashamed of my parents. I couldn't face some of my friends at school anymore, because I desperately wanted to have the classic, you know, typical family. Mother, father. I wanted that security, so I resented my parents for quite a few years because of that."
Music quickly became the perfect outlet for Cobain. Cobain began learning guitar with a few covers, including "Louie Louie" and The Cars' "My Best Friend's Girl", and soon began working on his own songs. During high school, Cobain rarely found anyone with whom he could play music. While hanging out at the Melvins' practice space, he met Krist Novoselic, a fellow devotee of Punk Rock. Novoselic's mother owned a hair salon. Cobain and Novoselic would occasionally practice in the upstairs room of the salon. A few years later, Cobain tried to convince Novoselic to form a band with him by lending him a copy of a home demo recorded by Cobain's earlier band, Fecal Matter. After months of asking, Novoselic finally agreed to join Cobain, forming the beginnings of Nirvana.
Cobain was disenchanted after early touring, due to the band's inability to draw substantial crowds and the apparent difficulty in sustaining themselves. During their first few years playing together, Novoselic and Cobain were hosts to a rotating list of drummers. Eventually, the band settled on Chad Channing, with whom Nirvana recorded their debut album 'Bleach', released on Sub Pop Records in 1989. Cobain, however, became dissatisfied with Channing's style, leading the band to find a NEW drummer, eventually settling on Dave Grohl. With Grohl, the band found their greatest success via their 1991 major-label debut, 'Nevermind'.
With the lead single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from Nirvana's second album 'Nevermind' (1991), Nirvana entered the mainstream, popularizing a subgenre of Alternative Rock called Grunge. Since their debut, Nirvana, with Cobain as a songwriter, have sold over 25 million albums in the United States alone, and over 50 million worldwide.
'Nevermind's' success provided numerous Seattle bands such as Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden to wider audiences, and as a result, Alternative Rock became a dominant genre on radio and MTV in the United States during the early-to-middle 1990s. Nirvana was considered the "flagship band of Generation X", and frontman Cobain found himself reluctantly anointed by the media as the generation's "spokesman." Cobain's discomfort with the media attention prompted him to focus on the band's music and, believing their message and artistic vision to have been misinterpreted by the public, challenged the band's audience with its third and last studio album 'In Utero' (1993).
Following a tour stop at Terminal Eins in Munich, Germany, on March 1, 1994, Cobain was diagnosed with bronchitis and severe laryngitis. He flew to Rome the next day for medical treatment, and was joined there by his wife, Courtney Love, on March 3, 1994. The next morning, Love awoke to find that Cobain had overdosed on a combination of champagne and Rohypnol. Cobain was immediately rushed to the hospital, and spent the rest of the day unconscious. After five days in the hospital, Cobain was released and returned to Seattle. Love later stated that the incident was Cobain's first suicide attempt.
On April 8, 1994, Cobain's body was discovered at his Lake Washington home (pictured above) by an electrician who had arrived to install a security system. Apart from a minor amount of blood coming out of Cobain's ear, the electrician reported seeing no visible signs of trauma, and initially believed that Cobain was asleep until he saw the shotgun pointing at his chin. A suicide note was found, addressed to Cobain's childhood imaginary friend "Boddah", that said, paraphrasing, "I haven't felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music, along with really writing... for too many years now". A high concentration of heroin and traces of diazepam were also found in his body. Cobain's body had been lying there for days; the coroner's report estimated Cobain to have died on April 5, 1994.
Kurt, you are deeply missed by an entire generation of music fans! Crank up some NIRVANA and put your Horns way Up for Kurt Cobain!

Corey Taylor Talks About Seeing SLIPKNOT Perform As A Fan, Before He Joined The Band
Corey Taylor is not the original vocalist of SLIPKNOT, his original band is actually STONE SOUR. Speaking of STONE SOUR, the second part of 'House Of Gold & Bones' will be released this coming Tuesday, April 9 via Roadrunner Records.
Corey was recently interviewed by Noisecreep about STONE SOUR's NEW record, and of course SLIPKNOT came up during the interview. Here is what he had to say about his first time seeing SLIPKNOT perform as a fan:
"I went to see a Slipknot show in Iowa. This was two years before I joined the band. Stone Sour was playing the next night and so we went to see Slipknot and I never really had that kind of feeling before; of seeing a band with that kind of energy. They just marched up through the crowd and then I said to myself, that's the band that I want to sing in. So think about it. How many people get to go see a band that's like their favorite band in the world, and then soon after that they find themselves being the lead singer? It's the fucking coolest thing in the world and I'm glad you asked about that because it's good for me to remember what it was like back in the day when I first saw Slipknot. I mean it's weird, I'm still a fan of the band from when I saw them back then, and just look at what happened."

11 Years Since The Heavy Music World Lost ALICE IN CHAINS' Layne Staley!
Today, April 5, 2013, marks the 11th death anniversary of the late great Layne Staley (vocalist and frontman of ALICE IN CHAINS). Staley was born on August 22, 1967 in Kirkland, Washington, U.S. and died on April 5, 2002 in Seattle, Washington, U.S.
Layne Staley was born to Phil Staley and Nancy Staley (née McCallum) in Kirkland, Washington. When he was was seven years old his parents got divorced, after which he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Jim Elmer (whose last name he took while enrolled in Meadowdale High School). He was raised Catholic.
He would describe the experience of witnessing his parents' divorce: "My world became a nightmare, there were just shadows around me. I got a call saying that my dad had died, but my family always knew he was around doing all kinds of drugs. Since that call I always was wondering, 'Where is my dad?' I felt so sad for him and I missed him. He dropped out of my life for 15 years."
Staley's musical career began when he started playing drums at the age of 12 years old. He jammed with various glam bands in his early teens, but Staley wanted to become a singer. In 1985, Staley formed a band called Sleze, which also featured Johnny Bacolas and James Bergstrom (who later started Second Coming). With the addition of guitarist Nick Pollock in 1986, Sleze morphed into Alice In Chains, a band which Staley said "dressed in drag and played speed Metal."
The inception of Alice N' Chains saw the band performing around the Seattle area playing Slayer and Armored Saint covers. This all changed when Staley met guitarist Jerry Cantrell while working at Music Bank rehearsal studios, and the two fast friends lived as roommates for over a year in the dilapidated rehearsal space they shared.
Alice N' Chains soon disbanded and Staley joined a funk band who at the time also required a guitarist. He asked Cantrell to join as a sideman. Cantrell agreed on condition that Staley join Cantrell's band, which at the time included drummer Sean Kinney and bassist Mike Starr. In 1986, Staley met Seattle underground guitarist Tim Barnes at a local Seattle bar. Barnes would later be offered a position in Alice N' Chains but declined. Eventually the funk project broke up and in 1987 Staley joined Cantrell on a full-time basis. The band eventually took the name of Alice In Chains, and quickly became a powerhouse!
On April 19, 2002, Staley's accountants contacted Staley's mother Nancy McCallum and informed her that no money had been withdrawn from the singer's bank account in two weeks. McCallum then placed a call with 911 to say "she hadn't heard from… [Staley] in about two weeks." The police went with McCallum and her husband to Staley's home, "When police kicked in the door to Layne Staley's University District apartment on April 19, there, on a couch, lit by a flickering TV, next to several spray-paint cans on the floor, not far from a small stash of cocaine, near two crack pipes on the coffee table, reposed the remains of the rock musician." The article also stated that the 6'1" Staley weighed just 86 pounds when his body was discovered.[35] The autopsy report later concluded that Staley had died after injecting a mixture of heroin and cocaine known as a "speedball".
In an interview on VH1's Celebrity Rehab with McCallum, former Alice in Chains bass player Mike Starr said that he spent time with Staley the day before he died as Starr's birthday was April 4. Starr claimed that Staley was very sick but would not call 911.
Please put your HORNS UP for Layne Staley and crank up some ALICE IN CHAINS in his memory!

POWERGLOVE's Drummer Breaks His Wrist; Learns How To Play Speed Metal With One Hand - Exclusive Video Available!
The true spirit of Metal becomes alive when a human being perseveres after being faced with physical or mental hardship. A true Metal warrior breaks all boundaries and rises to the occasion! Today, we salute Bassil Silver from POWERGLOVE!
Bassil recently broke his wrist after suffering a pretty serious accident on his bike. Instead of canceling his bands performances or bringing in a replacement, he learned how to play all of his bands Speed Metal songs with one hand. After the bands appearance at Tora-con in Rochester, NY, Bassil posted the following message. Read his message and then check the video out!
"Around a month ago, during a trip to California, I broke my wrist. Though I’ve been passing it off as due to chronic overzealous masturbation, the true cause was flipping over the handlebars on my bike and landing wrists-first on the concrete. Not even cool biking like downhilling or flying off jumps (which I surprisingly have not yet injured myself doing), but biking to meet my mom for her birthday dinner. Finding out a week later via X-ray and MRI that I had fractured my scaphoid was devastating. Not because I had to be in a cast for 6 weeks, or even because I couldn’t play drums, but because we had 3 festivals booked that according to the doctor, I now had to cancel.
"To me, the prospect of cancelling a show is terrible. I feel like in doing so, I’m letting down our fans, and letting down my band mates. By the time I arrived home, I had successfully brewed a stupid idea. One that I was for some odd reason determined to carry out. I would learn to play the drums with one hand.
"I realized this idea was stupid for 2 reasons. First, we play speed Metal.. a style that’s difficult enough to play with two hands. The amount of extra work one hand would have to do in order to provide a similar sonic impact would be daunting. Secondly, I had broken my right wrist. I not only had to learn it one-handed, but with my crappier left hand, which I would learn quickly lacked much of the endurance and dynamic control of my right. The first thing I did was call up Alexander, our manager, and after explaining to him what happened, told him not to cancel anything. So now I had no choice. I had to somehow learn our set with one hand.
"Every day since I came home in a cast, I have been practicing lefty one-handed drumming. At first my friends laughed at me, making Rick Allen (Def Leppard) jokes, and saying how hilarious it would be. But this if anything drove me harder, I had to prove that I could do it. It involved coming up with many alternate beats and fills, linear drumming techniques which fill in kickdrum hits between double strokes for fluidity, and intense left-hand endurance sessions to allow for my hand to take on twice the responsibility that it normally holds, without tensing up or giving out. Luckily, for a while I had been playing a good amount of our set lefty, just to build up strength and fluidity with my weaker limbs, and to help develop ambidexterity. Unfortunately, completely lacking the right hand proved to be a much more difficult endeavor. Nick, Chris, and Alex helped me through this process by showing a lot support and willingness to learn how to play along with a gimp drummer. This initially resulted in some hilarious sounding band practices, but in the end things started to come together surprisingly well.
"Last night, at Tora-Con in Rochester, NY was my first big test. I would play my first show ever with one hand. I must admit that this was initially very nerve-wracking. I knew the crowd would be understanding, and that we could play the set reasonably well, but I had this small itch in the back of my head, the slight fear of imminent disaster.
"In the end, the show turned out to be an incredible experience. And I can’t give credit to anyone more than all the fans who came and saw the show. You guys showed me support and so much enthusiasm, which gave me the drive to put every ounce of energy I had into playing our set. From the first cheers of the night, to all the kind words after the show, you all proved to me that all the time I had put in to making this happen was worth every second, without question.
"Thank you Tora-Con. You guys rule."

SEPULTURA Return To The Primitive, Find Out Who Is Producing Their NEW Album!
It has been confirmed that SEPULTURA have hired Ross Robinson to produce their 13th studio album, the follow up to 2011's 'Kairos'. This will be the first time the band works with Robinson since 1996, which is when the bands legendary album 'Roots' was produced by Robinson.
This reunion was suggested by Monte Conner (the guy who signed SEPULTURA), who used to be the Roadrunner Records A&R chief and is now the head of Nuclear Blast Entertainment, a U.S. partnership with Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger.
"Monte was the guy who signed SEPULTURA to Roadrunner in 1988," SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser told Diario de Pernambuco. "It's been a nice experience working with him again. He always brought a good energy to the band. It will be very good to record in a studio that Ross and Steve know so well," Andreas said. This will mark the first time that the band records an album outside Brazil since 'Against'.
SEPULTURA currently has 13 NEW songs in various stages of completion.
"We are in the process of writing and we have already stared working on some of the lyrics. I am also working on guitar solos and other ideas," Andreas explained.
Asked what fans can fans expect from the upcoming SEPULTURA album, Andreas said: "I don't know; it's hard to say. This is the first time writing with [latest SEPULTURA addition] Eloy Casagrande on drums and everything sounds fresh. You'll just have to wait to hear it. It's very difficult to describe what we're doing, but I can say that will be one of the strongest SEPULTURA albums to date. It will be definitely one of the best albums in the history of SEPULTURA."

The monolithic 22-track anthology compiles over a decade’s worth of TOXIC HOLOCAUST rarities into one maniacal compilation of hostile bliss. TOXIC HOLOCAUST mutated into existence in 1999, when Joel Grind merged his love for classic Punk and Metal into his ideal band. Like his influences – Bathory, Venom, English Dogs, Possessed, Broken Bones – TOXIC HOLOCAUST offers up blazing riffs, gravel-throated vocals, and a deadly fixation on the evil in man and a post-apocalyptic world wrapped in a DIY attitude.
