GOD FORBID Announce Hurricane Sandy Benefit Show!

On October 29th, 2012 the east coast experienced one of the largest Atlantic hurricanes on record that affected millions and destroyed thousands of homes, businesses and communities in its path. Hurricane Sandy made landfall in Atlantic City, New Jersey and ripped its way through New York City and other coastal communities. New Jersey melodic Metallers GOD FORBID were personally affected by this storm as were their fans, family and friends. They are very pleased to announce that on Friday, January 11th at The Boneyard in Atlantic City they will be participating in Revive The Shore Part III, a concert series that will benefit areas affected by Hurricane Sandy. Doors open at 6 PM and tickets are available for $15 dollars in advance or $18 at the door. More information can be found HERE.

Vocalist Byron Davis comments, “We would like to wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. With that being said we should take this time and reflect on how tragedy can turn ones world upside down; we need to be grateful for the ones we have in our lives and remember those who have lost everything.”

He continues, “This benefit show gives us the opportunity to let our fellow New Jerseyians know that we have not forgotten them and will honor their struggles with pride. For one night, we will all come together for remembrance and fun to raise contributions that will help re-build communities and people’s spirits that were affected around the Jersey Shore. We are looking forward to seeing New Jersey stand together united. See you there!”

Following the devastation brought on by Hurricane Sandy on October 29th, Long Island badasses Vision Of Disorder immediately reorganized their headlining show in Brooklyn, NY. On Saturday, November 24th the band organized a benefit show for the victims of Sandy. The event was coordinated by VOD along with Candlelight Records, Earsplit PR and Metal Insider.

100% of the ticket proceeds from VOD as well as supporting acts Yuppicide, Swarm of Arrows and Primitive Weapons were donated to the Red Cross to aid residents whose lives were impacted by the storm. Show attendees brought supplies for area shelters and food banks. Supplies to aid pets and animals displaced by the storm were donated to Last Resort Animal Rescue in New Jersey.

Following this very special show, we joined forces with our friends from Nextmosh and conducted an exclusive interview with VOD's own Tim Williams. During the interview we discussed the impact of Hurricane Sandy within the East Coast of the United States, and why the band decided to take matters into their own hands. We also discussed the band latest sonic assault 'The Cursed Remain Cursed' (available now via Candlelight Records).

On Saturday, December 8th, Marc Rizzo will be paying tribute to his all-time favorite guitar player at "A Holiday Tribute Show For Dimebag Darrell and the victims of Hurricane Sandy". This will be Horns Up Rocks' last show of 2012 and it will mark our return to The Trash Bar! Not only are we hosting THE Holiday show to be at by celebrating the legacy of the late great Dimebag Darrell from Pantera and Damageplan, but we will also be raising funds for the victims of Hurricane Sandy."

THE DIRTY PEARLS: "Hurricane Benefit Video Shoot" At Grit N Glory (Teaser)!

Last Monday (November 19), New York City Rockers THE DIRTY PEARLS performed at Grit N Glory at a private concert in benefit of the victims of Hurricane Sandy. During the event our cameras were rolling and captured the essence of the current state of the New York City Rock N' Roll scene.

VISION OF DISORDER's Brooklyn Headlining Show = Red Cross Benefit For Hurricane Sandy Victims!

Today VISION OF DISORDER confirms that all the proceeds from their upcoming headlining concert in Brooklyn later this month will be donated to the Red Cross, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

What was simply a headlining show for the band has now been dubbed “Picking Up Change: Hardcore For Hurricane Relief.” VISION OF DISORDER initiated this act of support to their community after witnessing the catastrophic demolition across the New York metropolitan area and beyond as Sandy surged through our region on October 29th. VOD, as well as the other bands performing at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on November 24th, will contribute donations to the Red Cross to help aid the decimated areas and many displaced local residents throughout the Northeast as the season grows colder.

In a collective statement the members of VOD had this to say: “Our hearts go out to those severely affected by this tragic incident. Being from Long Island, Hurricane Sandy has (quite literally) hit home for us. The music scene in Long Island, The New York metro area and New Jersey have been so supportive to VOD over the years that we felt donating the proceeds from the Brooklyn show was a no-brainer. We are proud to announce that the opening acts (Primitive Weapons, Yuppicide, Swarm of Arrows) have also agreed to donate their proceeds. We hope that this small gesture can add to the ongoing efforts and help rebuild these traumatized areas. We look forward to seeing you all on Nov 24th to support this cause.”

In addition to the funds generated by VISION OF DISORDER, Yuppicide, Primitive Weapons and Swarm of Arrows at “Picking Up Change: Hardcore For Hurricane Relief” going directly to the Red Cross, show attendees are invited to bring supplies – canned/nonperishable food, batteries, toilet paper, etc. -- for area shelters and food banks, as donation bins will be posted outside of the venue. Supplies to aid pets and animals displaced by the storm are also acceptable and will be donated to Last Resort Animal Rescue in New Jersey.

The members of VISION OF DISORDER, in an alliance with Candlelight Records, Earsplit PR, Metal Insider, The Music Hall of Williamsburg and all parties involved with this event, are reaching out to all area hardcore and metal fans to join them on November 24th, not only to take part in what is sure to be a high-action live show, but more importantly to help contribute to this imperative objective of getting the displaced families and businesses back on their feet. TRIVIUM: Matt Heafy Discusses Next Album, Festival Appearances & His Involvement With Moscot Music!

On Monday, August 13th, TRIVIUM's front man Matt Heafy performed his first-ever solo acoustic set in New York City. The intimate event took place at The MOSCOT Gallery & Music Space, and all proceeds benefited The MOSCOT MOBILEYES FOUNDATION.

Heafy performed a couple of TRIVIUM songs, along with classic songs by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Opeth and even Depechemode.

Prior to this historic performance, we had the chance to chat with Matt Heafy about what fans can expect on the next TRIVIUM album and the bands recent festival performances in Europe and Canada. TRIVIUM's Matt Heafy Announces NEW "Extreme Black Metal" Side Project!

Last night, TRIVIUM's front man Matt Heafy performed his first-ever solo acoustic set in New York City. The intimate event took place at The MOSCOT Gallery & Music Space, and all proceeds benefited The MOSCOT MOBILEYES FOUNDATION.

Heafy performed a couple of TRIVIUM songs, along with classic songs by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Opeth and even Depechemode. He also revealed that he has a NEW side project called MRITWU (death in sans-script), which he describes as an extreme Black Metal sonic extravaganza. He plans on releasing it sometime next year, and blames EMPEROR for the musical direction this side project has taken. Heafy does not plan on touring with it, since TRIVIUM is his main focus. However, he did mention that IF he would ever play the songs live, it would have to be with his current band mates: Corey Beaulieu, Paolo Gregoletto and Nick Augusto.

"It was originally intended to be full-on black metal… '90s style, second or third wave black metal." Heafy added that he decided to take the new group in different direction after discussing it with former EMPEROR frontman Ihsahn. "Somehow we got in touch and I sent the demo along. He started passing a few things to me to listen to, films to watch, CDs to check out, and it inspired this band to become this whole other thing. I don't even know what to call the genre anymore."

He added, "It's not going to play shows. It's just me on vocals, guitar and bass. I'm going to have Nick [Augusto, TRIVIUM drummer] on drums. If it ever did play live, I'll only have TRIVIUM guys play in it. You'll maybe see something with that band a year from now. It's got to be staggered with the TRIVIUM release. So yeah, I'll be doing another thing. I guess you can call it extreme metal."

"Evil" Steve Ventura To Be Honored At The Knitting Factory In Brooklyn NY - Purchase Tickets Here!

On Wednesday, February 1st, the New York City Heavy Music scene lost a man that literally bled for the underground music scene! Steve Ventura (A.K.A. Evil Steve), was not only a devoted fan and supporter of all things related to the local music scene (he introduced us to a handful of bands), but he thankfully also captured the essence of this ever-growing scene through the lens of his camera!

On Saturday, March 3rd, the entire New York City Heavy Music scene will pay tribute to "Evil" Steve! The event will take place at The Knitting Factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY. This fundraising event is organized by Dropdown, and all proceeds will go to Steve's family! Here are the 19 bands that will honor the late great Steve Ventura:

Tommy Vext is ready to Rock

You may know Tommy Vext Cummings from his days as front man of Divine Heresy and Snot, and you probably fear being alone with Tommy if he's pissed off! Yes Tommy is a badass singer with a very unique style, and yes he’s not someone you want to throw spitballs at. However, once you meet Tommy you realize that he’s one of the truest and nicest guys you will ever meet. We've had the chance to hang out with him a few times, and it’s evident that everyone respects Tommy. He might have been looked as the bad guy when he left Divine Heresy because of personal differences with guitarist Dino Cazares (Fear Factory and Divine Heresy), but he has moved on since then and he’s currently working on a new project with his best friend Doc Coyle from God Forbid.

As we all know, his own brother viciously attacked Tommy last September with a crowbar, which resulted in a spleen fracture that nearly cost Tommy his life. Thankfully his physical and mental recovery is going very well, and Tommy is getting ready to once again take over the world through his passionate lyrics and powerful vocals. This past November we had the chance to see Tommy's comeback at his benefit show in New York City, and definitely does not sound rusty. Seeing Tommy back on stage was a very cool moment for all of us who attended, especially after his horrible accident. As soon as he started singing he proved that the speculations of many fans which dared to say that Tommy’s career was over are not the be reckoned with.

After seeing Tommy’s legendary performance, which was the climax of the day, we decided to interview Tommy so he can tell you guys about his present and future. We purposely decided to not speak about his accident or about the friction between him and Dino Cazares, simply because Tommy is at a turning point in his life and negativity only delays a persons rise against the odds.
