IN FLAMES to replace LAMB OF GOD at Canada's Heavy MTL Festival - Statement Available!

 
"HEAVY MTL is sorry to announce that due to the continued incarceration of LAMB OF GOD singer Randy Blythe in the Czech Republic, the band won't be able to play Heavy MTL.

"Therefore, we are proud to announce that IN FLAMES is added to the lineup on Sunday, August 12!

"LAMB OF GOD would like to thank the fans who have been supportive of Randy and the band!"

As previously reported, due to the continued incarceration of LAMB OF GOD singer Randy Blythe in the Czech Republic, the band’s co-headline tour with Dethklok scheduled to begin August 1^st in Seattle is being cancelled. The band regrets the decision but the uncertainty of Randy’s release makes it impossible to carry on with the tour. Upon Randy’s release, it is the band’s intention to rebook a tour in the fall and at this time the band fully intends to participate in the Mayhem Cruise in December. More about this story HERE!

Canadians: Meet CANNIBAL CORPSE's Guitarist Paul Mazurkiewicz - Details Available!

Cannibal Corpse drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz will be doing a meet and greet with local Montreal fans on Wednesday, May 16th at Boutique Labryinthe (486 Ste-Catherine West) from 2:30pm-3:30pm.

While we all wait for the official announcement about a joint North American tour that will present the masses with the DEFTONES and SYSTEM OF A DOWN live, loud, and dangerous! We can confirm that this massive tour will be hitting the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ on Thursday, August 2, 2012.

Additionally, the two titans will be performing at the Heavy MTL and Heavy T.O. fests in Montreal, Canada this summer! Stay tuned for more information!

Canadian 'Heavy Mtl' Festival Announces Details For Battle Of The Bands Stage Contest 'En Route'!

A total of 20 bands have been selected to take over Katakombes‘ stage every second Wednesday of the month, starting January 11, 2012. Their goal? To win one of two prized spots on the 2012 lineup of Heavy MTL, which will take place from August 10th to the 12th!

Apart from playing on the same bill as some of the most highly regarded musicians in the world at Parc Jean-Drapeau, the contenders will perform for a prestigious panel of judges. A very special guest judge hailing from the international scene will be present at each event. Here are all the details.

January 11 – Melodic Deathcore Night:

- Lineup: Chainsaw Armageddon, Forbidden Sin, Dark Century and Spelldown

February 8th – Heavy Power Thrash Night:

The Agonist's Alissa White-Gluz is the world's "Sexiest Female Vegetarian"

Alissa White-Gluz from Canadian Metal band The Agonist was named one of the 2011 "Hottest Chicks In Metal" by Revolver Magazine, and she is now also the world's "Sexiest Female Vegetarian" according to Peta2! In order to win the 2011 title she had to beat celebrities such as Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, and Olivia Wilde, but ultimately our Metal queen Alissa reigned supreme. While honored by the title, the ever modest front-woman is just happy to show a different side of herself and other fellow veggies:

"I have been vegetarian since birth and vegan for more than half my life. Living cruelty-free is the closest thing to a religion I'll ever believe in and it is a huge part of me and my music. Of course, the 'sexiest veg celebrity' contest is just for fun, but I do like how it shines a different light on the idea of veganism/vegetarianism. It's showing people that a lot of the celebrities that they look up to and admire already follow this lifestyle, and that it's not some weird, challenging, alienating ordeal to be veg - it's simple, healthy, popular, and, well, sexy! I'm very honored to have won." - Alissa White-Gluz

The Agonist recently completed a very successful South American tour and are currently in the studio working on their upcoming release. All instruments have been tracked and Alissa is in the midst of finishing up her vocals on the album, due in early 2012. Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Dark Tranquility, Suicide Silence) will be handling mixing duties on what promises to be yet another epic melodic death metal masterpiece!
