Bay Area Metallers DEATH ANGEL, have announced that they are starting to work on their seventh studio album today, Tuesday, January 22. The follow up to 2010's 'Relentless Retribution' should be out later this year via Nuclear Blast Records. Here is a message from the band, announcing that they are ready to begin demoing material: "The drums are all mic'd up. The demo process begins. Waiting for Will to show up and then we start tracking."

After a bloody successful maiden voyage in 2012, Decibel Magazine is doubling down on veteran star power for their second annual national tour. This spring, the plague spreads as Decibel brings you three living legends of Death Metal and Grindcore: the preeminent gore institution Cannibal Corpse; rabble-rousing U.K. grind icons Napalm Death, and NYDM stalwarts Immolation.
While occultism permeated last spring's inaugural dB tour —featuring exclusively European headliners in Behemoth, Watain, the Devil's Blood and In Solitude—they looked (mostly) to North America for this year's unholy assemblage. Three of Decibel's favorite underground powerhouses will take on this year's rotating opening slot: demented Bay Area death-grinders Cretin, Canadian tech-prog upstarts Beyond Creation and Beltway grind/power violence crushers Magrudergrind. And the time is ripe to see the NEW bleed into the old: three of the six artists performing are expected to have NEW records detonating during the tour.

As we previously informed you,MACHINE HEAD's "General" Robb Flynn performed an acoustic setat the Tony La Russa (yes, the baseball legend) "Stars To The Rescue XXII" benefit event.Following his acoustic performance, we asked Flynn via Twitter what his plans are regarding an acoustic project and the time he replied: "Thinking about it."

In case you missed the memo, 'Anthems', Anthrax's long-awaited, eight-track EP that pays tribute to the classic songs by some of Anthrax's favorite bands from the 1970s, will be released in North America on March 19 (MRI/Megaforce), and on March 22 in Europe (Nuclear Blast). The track listing for 'Anthems' features Rush's "Anthem," Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak," "TNT" by AC/DC, Boston's "Smokin'," "Big Eyes" by Cheap Trick, Journey's "Keep on Runnin," as well as the album version and a special remix of Anthrax's "Crawl" from the band's critically-acclaimed 2011 album 'Worship Music'.
As previously reported HERE, after a long and successful run as guitarist for the legendary Thrash Metal act Anthrax, Rob Caggiano has decided that it's time to move on and focus on his other passion: producing records for the time being. Caggiano recently announced that he is producing the NEW VOLBEAT album! More info HERE!
Here is what ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian had to say about Caggiano's decision to leave the band:
"We didn’t know he was planning on leaving while we were tracking this ['Anthems']. He was literally finishing solos in Berlin on the last days of the tour. It wasn’t until after the tour ended and we started having conversations, and just to put it in a nutshell, he just needs to do his own thing at this point in time. We knew he had a record that he was going to be doing possibly. We had already told him, if you need to take a hiatus, that’s fine. The best thing I can say is that he’s on a mission to do his own thing at this point. And I’m certainly not going to stand in his way."
Caggiano’s temporary replacement:
"It was actually Rob. He had already spoken to Jon and had kind of filled him in about what his plan was. He didn’t want to leave us hanging. As much as it sucks, this whole thing has been friendly. I may think Rob has made a mistake by leaving the band, but at the same time he’s my friend and I back his decision all the way in whatever he needs to do. He feels the same about us. We all know Jon. I’ve actually worked with him before on [comedian] Brian Posehn’s record. We all know he’s a great lead guitar player. And Jon said absolutely he wanted to do it."
