The 2011 Comeback Of The Year: Behemoth's Adam "Nergal" Darski!
There is no question that the comeback of the year in Heavy Music, was witnessed by the headbanging community when Adam "Nergal" Darski from Behemoth returned to the musical spectrum after battling with Cancer. "Nergal" had been diagnosed with Leukemia on August 8, 2010, and in an unprecedented move his fans united in order to find him a match that could donate some bone marrow in order for Nergal to be able to get a bone marrow transplant. Following the chemo therapy, and the bone marrow transplant, today Nergal is cancer free!
In order to honor Poland's Heavy Metal ambassador, Terrorizer Magazine (The World's Most Dangerous Magazine) decided to make put Nergal on the cover of their Summer issue, along with in depth article about the Behemoth frontman! Here it is.
This year, Nergal was acquitted for the second time for bible-tearing in Poland, here is what he had to say about this.
"I really had so much faith in judges. The verdict seems to be right. Intelligence and truth won over backward thinking and conservative attitudes; though I'm aware of the fact it's not over yet. The battle is won but the war is on…"
Thanks to the return of "Nergal", Behemoth was able to team up with Grupa 13 to produce a music video for their song 'Lucifer'; which is a track taken from their 2009 release titled "Evangelion". The song clocks in at over eight minutes long and is one of the most atmospheric and foreboding songs in Behemoth's vast catalogue.
The video was shot in Wroclaw, Poland and stars the song's guest vocalist, Maciej Malenczuk.
Here is a behind the scenes video of the making of 'Lucifer'.
Earlier this fall, Poland's kings of blackened Death Metal, Behemoth, returned to the stage after an extended absence. This is what "Nergal" had to say about this.
"Magick is back, my friends! We have our first 'rebirth' shows under our belt, moreover, both Poznan and Danzig were totally sold out and crowd's reactions went beyond anyone's expectations!
After completing the "Phoenix Rising" tour in Poland. Behemoth announced the "Full Of Hate" European tour with Cannibal Corpse across continental Europe February-March 2012. This not-to-be-missed tour kicks off Hamburg Germany February 9th.
Recently, Behemoth's front-man Adam "Nergal" Darski joined Full Metal Jackie on her weekly radio show to discuss all things Behemoth. During the interview, Nergal discussed the bands touring plans, which include a potential U.S. tour in the Spring of 2012. This is what he had to say:
"We're doing Poland now. It's a warm-up tour and then we're starting with Cannibal Corpse in February in Europe and actually we're putting final touches to a U.S. tour which will start on April 12. The lineup is still a secret, but probably within days or weeks it's going to be revealed to the world. All I got to say now, because I'm not really allowed to reveal any names, but it's like a dream team tour for me.
"It's going to be very underground, very dangerous and when we go on tours, especially in the U.S., we've always compromised to be on a bill with bands, bigger bands, smaller bands it doesn't matter. But sometimes it's just politics, it's labels involved, it's money and stuff that we need to compromise and there's bands that we hate, good guys, you know, but a lot of music that's on the bill it's shit, and this time, for the first time ever, it's my favorite bands on the bill. Just wait and see — it's going to be a huge surprise. It's going to be massive. It's very underground, but people will fucking love it.
"People are dying to see this kind of bill; it's going to be super-evil. It's going to be the most satanic tour that's going to invade the U.S in a long time and there's going to be no tour like that in years. That's a promise; just wait and see. I can't wait for this to happen."
In order to celebrate the return of "Nergal", Behemoth re-released "Demonica", the repackaged version of "Demonica" chronicles the earliest recordings of Polish blackened Death Metal legends Behemoth! "Demonica" will include two booklets; a 28 page booklet and a 16 page booklet with rare photos and lyrics that were not included with the original release. Here is an mp3 for the track 'Summoning of the Ancient Gods' off the upcoming reissue.
