Vinnie STIGMA: 'For Love & Glory' CD Release Show, Hardcore Culture & The Future Of AGNOSTIC FRONT!

Hardcore ambassador Vinnie Stigma (the Tony Iommi of Hardcore), recently released the follow up to 'New York Blood'. Entitled 'For Love & Glory', the NEW Stigma contains more Punk Rock elements than their previous effort.

On Sunday March 3, STIGMA presented his second solo album 'For Love & Glory' at Bowery Electric in New York City. The show was presented by Black N Blue Productions and also featured NO REDEEMING SOCIAL VALUE (who celebrated their 15th anniversary), TWO MAN ADVANTAGE, BRAIN SLUG, ABJECT and NO DICE.


Right after STIGMA conquered the ear drums of a very energetic audience, we chatted with Vinnie about the CD release show for his NEW solo album. We also discussed the production process behind 'For Blood & Glory', Hardcore culture, and the future of AGNOSTIC FRONT! If you know Vinnie, you know his interviews are legendary. STIGMA has premiered the video for "Don't Lose Faith", the first single out of 'For Love & Glory'. The video is a tribute from STIGMA to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Watch it below.

STIGMA To Host Record Release Show Today For 'For Love & Glory'!

Agnostic Front at the 2011 Black N Blue Bowl

Saturday, May 28, 2011, will go down on history as one of the best days in New York Hardcore! The energy at Webster Hall for the 2011 Black N Blue Bowl (formerly the Superbowl of Hardcore) was goddamn electric from start to finish, and every band delivered a flawless set. It is great to see veterans of Hardcore like Gorilla Biscuits, Sick Of It All, Agnostic Front and Terror, inspire the younger bands to step their game up and not disappoint.

Right after a typical adrenalized set by Sick Of It All, the crowd needed a breather, and we needed a cold beer. As soon as we arrived at the bar, we ran into Freddy Cricien (Madball and Black N Blue Productions), and bought him a beer in token of our appreciation for everything he has done for New York Hardcore culture. Next thing you know, Agnostic Front raged onto the stage and demolished Webster Hall. The power provided by Roger Miret, Vinnie Stigma and the rest of the boys, is addicting and not for the weak-hearted. For their new song "A Mi Manera", which is part of their brand new album titled "My Life, My Way", Freddy Madball sang in Spanish with his step-brother Roger.

If anybody needs prove of why Agnostic Front is the most legendary NYHC band in history, all it takes is to see them perform any of their Hardcore anthems to 2,000 CRAZY fans and see how those fans react.

Agnostic Front: Hardcore Lessons

This is such an easy piece to write, that it could be done while being blindfolded and handcuffed. When it comes to New York Hardcore, Agnostic Front is still the band that everyone respects and admires. When we recently interviewed Ben Falgoust from Goatwhore and Soilent Green, we asked him about the bands that made him want to get on stage. The first band he mentioned was Agnostic Front. The reason? Agnostic Front are not just a band, they represent a cultural movement that has crossed musical frontiers worldwide.

When the godfather of Hardcore music Vinnie Stigma started Agnostic Front in 1980, his vision was to create a form of music that was honest and directly from the streets. Another aspect that Stigma wanted to present to the masses was the strength and the unity behind the New York City underground culture. While many only know the "poshy" side of New York, the city was a complete different place back then. The streets were very rugged, and there was a lot of violence going on. This is what gave birth to the Hardcore Punk movement, which eventually became became the musical trademark of New York City. And without the violence and the hardship, it would have never evolved the way it did.

Agnostic Front revolutionized Hardcore music when they released "Victim In Pain", and instantly became one of the pioneers of New York Hardcore. We had the chance to see their hometown show at Santos Party Town in Chinatown, as they celebrated the 25th anniversary of this legendary album. It was a family reunion, and the band proved that they got fire for years to come. We actually spoke with Stigma after their performance, and he confirmed that they are going into the studio this November to record the new Agnostic Front album with Freddy Cricien (AKA Freddy Madball) as producer.
